I'm a loyal Macy's customer, but I won't shop at this store. While there are some wonderful staff members, overall the morale seems low. While making a return at customer service, the person helping me seemed very annoyed and was actually a bit rude about my returns, while the other staff members complained loudly amongst themselves about their jobs. The store looks kind of shabby in places. The entryway looks worn with a threadbare rug, corroded door frame and overflowing trash can. If I'm going to pay premium prices at a store I expect it to look pretty nice and not be threadbare. A lot of the clerks have "attitudes" and it's not very customer focused. I was looking at a toaster and asked if they will match prices of competitors like Bed, Bath & Beyond and the clerk said he'd never heard of Bed, Bath & Beyond and didn't know if they could match prices. He referred me to customer service and they did confirm they could match price at BB&B. This is a far cry from Dayton's. read more

This store (especially the Men's Dept) seems to be a mess almost everytime I shop there. There are piles of clothes on the tables and often on the floor and this can be right when the store opens. They rarely recover the store and there does not seems like they have enough people working. The store looks dated as well (looks about the same as Daytons 20 years ago) and the carpet is stained in multiple areas and the fixtures are chipped and scratched. This plus the overall mess the store usually is in does not make it an appealing shopping experience for me. read more

One of the worst Macy's ever! No one is ever around to help you, departments are a complete mess, especially sleepwear. Piles of clothes everywhere, even on folding tables, messy racks...you can barely move around. Women's was moved to the basement a few years ago, past kitchen, home and children's departments ... it's ridiculous that it's located at the farthest end of the store, yet all other adult clothing departments are upstairs in proximity. The thought process behind this blows my mind. What else blows my mind is that I have to go to 2 or 3 departments to check out because no one is anywhere! The store is so understaffed, it makes shopping pointless and nonenjoyable. I avoid this store at all costs. You should too! read more

I am only commenting on the bridal registry services... In a word, awful. The salespeople in the bridal registry area were useless and couldn't be bothered to answer basic questions. We were looking for stainless steel flatware, and they couldn't be bothered to help us. A number of the display sets had pieces missing, and they seemed not to care (and wouldn't show us a full set -- not even online). We asked about what pieces were included with the hostess sets of a couple designs -- no answer. What a waste of my time. Plus, the selection was abysmal! Virtually no every day china that was worth looking at. We cook a large variety of foods from various regions and prefer clean simple lines on white china (nothing stranger than sushi on a french country dish). No luck. The website has some nice looking stuff, but I want to touch and feel before registering for 16 place settings. All in all, an extraordinarily frustrating experience. Wish I could have registered in California where the Macy's actually stock things and the sales people actually help you. Revolutionary concepts! read more

Bring back Dayton's! I miss the attractive displays, clerks who care, and carpets that aren't threadbare. (Oh yeah, and the candy counter) Early this week in the afternoon, I went into the Macy's in the Rosedale, MN mall to get a pick me up. The candy counter had disappeared, the café, deli was being destroyed. I found a piece of candy and took it to the only cashier I could see in acres of empty floor space. A desultory young female, obviously upset because she had to put down her facebook momentarily, asked if I wanted the candy, I'd just put it down on her counter! Then she told me this was NOT where I should check out - but didn't tell me where to do it. Without a word exchanged between us I went on my way and she returned to her electronics. This would never, ever have happened at Dayton's. read more

My fiancé and I worked with Sof at the Macy's in Roseville. We had been trying to find dress pants for two family members for the wedding who had very difficult sizes to find. We had gone to countless stores and worked with several people before (once before at Macy's) and were still unable to find the pants we were looking for (even after looking for over 2 months). Sof immediately came out to help us even though she had been busy before at the register and came out to help us look. She spend a lot of time online finding pants for us. Even though the exact size we were looking for was sold out she found a size larger and recommended the easiest way to have it taken in. She also honored a sale price we had gotten for the pants we originally bought months ago. She took her time and didn't rush us and listened to all of our concerns. She was friendly, personable, and very helpful! read more

This review is for CeCe in the men's department who is an absolutely fantastic customer service person. My husband found a pair of Tommy Hilfiger shorts and a Tommy Bahama camp shirt there on June 13. Unfortunately, the shirt wasn't available in his size so CeCe checked the computer for availability elsewhere in Minnesota - no luck. She offered to check other states if we had some time to wait while she assisted other customers waiting to complete purchases. She tried her best, but wasn't successful. She had other employees check recovery racks and we did find the right size in a slightly different color - and bought it. This woman has single-handedly restored my faith in retail customer service everywhere! She never lost her beautiful smile and we had lots of giggles throughout the entire experience. To Macy's management - please recognize CeCe for her positive attitude, perseverance and outstanding customer service. You're lucky to have her. read more

This Macy's has awful customer service. It took forever to checkout in the store. They have a bad store policy of only allowing you to check out certain items at certain checkouts. We waited for over 30 minutes in a line to buy one pair of pants. Definitely, do not suggest coming here. read more

I have been shopping at his location since I was a little girl. First it was Dayton's, Marshal Fields now it is Macy's. When my daughter needed a prom dress the first place we though of was Macy's because we had such great luck at the Mall of America the last two years. So we drove all the way from the Brainerd area. What a HUGE disappointment. The place is a complete mess and very disorganized. I did try to overlook this because I do understand this is a sat afternoon. but when I started noticing a lot of employees standing around talking is when it is hard to look past the mess. Now on to the customer service and cashiers. First we got to the dressing room and asked a girl working there if there is any rooms open and she says, "I don't why don't you try knocking on the doors to find out" So we go use another dressing room. Clothes everywhere and the lady working in that area was literally just standing behind the register doing nothing. Go to buy the dress over, kinda by the show department but still by the some dresses. I notice that the dress was not coming up 20% off, I told the clerk this and she says, "I don't know what the sale is on prom dresses. You need to go ask someone over there." Mind you there was 5 other girls standing there doing nothing. At this point I did get pretty rude with the clerk. I couldn't believe not only how this store now looks but how we were treated. They always have amazing sales. Parking is a bitch though. I try to avoid Rosedale at all costs because it is such a pain in the ass to get there. I hate that mall. But Macy's itself is great, though I do miss Daytons/Marshall Fields. But like I said when they have a sale they really have amazing sales. read more

Very upset with men's suits. We are purchasing 13 suits and we bought the grooms about 1 month ago for a very good price. We were told that this price would "lock in" for the rest of the men but this is completely untrue. Not to mention it takes us at least 45 minutes to order one suit every time we go back to order another one. Wish Macy's had a universal system where the men could go into any Macy's store and purchase the suit at our "locked in" price. I am a avid Macy's shopper and considering cancelling my credit card and never going back. This is the last thing a bride wants to deal with. read more

I purchased two items online from the perfume counter. Paid with my card. Was picking up in the Roseville store. I received my email and text that my order was ready. The text and email said to bring my identification and the email with the barcode. My order totaled about $200. When I got to the counter, I was asked for my ID but not the barcode. One sales clerk walked away with my drivers license. Frankly, I do not like this. I asked the other associate where the clerk that took my license was going and why she took my license with her. I was told, we match the last name to the order. I thought, well, They did not need to walk away with my drivers license. I told the remaining clerk, I did not like that to happen. I also told her I do not know the person. The clerk told me there are cameras everywhere. I'm thinking, so what. I said to the clerk that is interesting you all do not trust your customers, however, we are to trust associates we don't even know. This clerk was baffled by my comment. Despite paying for my order online I still needed to swipe my drivers license. Since I paid for my order online with a card and produced valid identification I seem to think this is overkill. When my order came back, I realized the clerk did not confirm what was in the bag was what I paid for. It was. I wish I would've just simply taken my cash, made the purchase in store and I wouldn't of gone through all this crap. Not good customer service. read more

I used to shop here back when it was Dayton's and then Marshall Field's. Back then, they actually had coupons that were worth something. Now, whenever I try to use one of their coupons, 9 times out of 10 there is some exclusion. Just bought a mattress pad that was on sale (it even says it's on sale on their website). But I couldn't use the 15% coupon that I had received in the mail recently because it was a *special* sale. Then I went to redeem my punched card for one free pound of candy at the scoop candy counter. My husband loves chocolate covered nuts and over the years I've been buying him pound after pound of mixed chocolate covered nuts for his birthday, Father's day, etc. After buying seven pounds, my card would get punched and I would get the eighth pound free. Unfortunately, the past few months the selection has gotten pretty sparse but I still wanted to get a pound of the chocolate covered almonds. The sales lady wasn't sure my punched card applied because the nuts after all were $14.00/pound while some of the other candy was $8.00 or less per pound. Had to call the manager over (really???) to verify that it was OK. When I got home, I weighed the nuts on my scale and sure enough, it was short a couple ounces. That sure showed me! read more

Macy's has really let quality, cleanliness and service slip since last I stopped in. There were half-clothed mannequins, disastrous looking displays and clothing strewn across the floor everywhere I looked! There were no sales associates on the floor to help (or to tidy up, obviously) and the two ladies at the register in front of the fitting room didn't even look at me when I approached and asked if the room was free. Then in the check out process the associate sorted through the eight items no less than six times "counting them" and she still failed to remove two security tags even after patting the pile repeatedly. Obviously patting is insufficient and she needs to look at what she is doing while attempting (and failing) to fold the slacks. The only reason I'll be returning to Macy's is to have the security tags removed from the items I've already purchased as this experience has solidified the reason Amazon is the number one retailer in the US. read more

Two years ago I bought beds at Macy's during their Veterans sale. It was my understanding I had two years to pay off. Not so. They lumped me into their other fall sale for a year and then screwed me around for a year and half trying to get to the bottom of it. Now I owe 800 in just interest and they offered to remove it if I could pay the balance off. I cashed in a 401 to do that and whoops no note, no offer to do so and they want the full freight. NEVER AGAIN. I will NOT pay the interest charges. If I billed them for all my wasted time they would owe me money. ISH read more

credit card issues If I could give this a half star I would. Has this happened to you??? I asked for my Macy's card number to be looked up in store. Instead the cashier opened an American Express Macy's account for me and gave me that number. For two months I paid automatically on my current Macy's account UNAWARE that I had an American Express Macy's in my name. Eventually the credit dept called me and said I was not making regular payments. Once investigated the rep could see that I was paying on the wrong account. It was not my fault that I was given a completely new account number. The rep agreed and could see that I have a credit balance on my regular account. I was assured that Macy's would not report it to the credit bureau since I was given the wrong account number. Instead I found out this week that I have a delinquency on my credit report. I called Macy's today and explained the entire situation. The credit manager told me that it has already been reported and nothing can be done about it. He also said, " have a nice day" and hung up on me. I was on hold to get someone on the line for 17 minutes in the first place. And Macy's is wondering why their brand is no longer valued??!! I have had this credit card for 25 years. Both of the accounts American Express and regular are paid off and closed. I do not need customer service like this read more

Several months ago I had a vision exam and ordered three pairs of glasses at this location. I am not sure what the problem is, but all three pair seem to have a different prescription in them and I can't actually see clearly with any of them. The warranty has now expired (shame on me for not going right back). Now I have to have another exam done elsewhere and purchase new glasses. What a waste of time and money. Grrr. My advice -- go somewhere else that does digital fittings if you need progressive lenses. read more

I have tried twice to speak with the store manager at this Macy's in order to pass on a compliment about a particular sales assistant. Annette, in the Shoe Department, was superb yesterday evening. She was friendly, helpful, and went the extra mile to try and help me locate a pair of boots. The shoe department was a madhouse and she remained cheerful and upbeat. As i was leaving the store, I called the mainline number, listened to the 8 options before I found how to connect with an operator, and listened 3 times to a message which said i would be connected to an operator in 1 minute. When I eventually spoke with the operator and asked for the duty store manager, I was told no one was available. I explained why I was calling and she offered to put me through to the Shoe Department where I could ask for the manager. Not ideal - but better than nothing, I thought. She duly connected me with the Shoe Department where the person who picked up asked me to hold - as I had half expected having been in that madhouse just a few moments earlier. I quickly explained that I wanted the manager of the Shoe Department and she again asked me to hold. By this time, I had walked from the Shoe Department in Macy's down the length of the mall and through Herberger's to where my car was parked. At this point I gave up. This morning, I tried again (I'm nothing if not persistent) ... went through the list of options on the mainline, choose the store office option, phone rang and rang and was eventually picked up by the store operator! I asked to speak to the store manager and was put through to someone (whose name I have forgotten) who was the manager of a department but not the store manager. Apparently, Jen (the store manager) was not going to be in until after 5:00 pm. I debated leaving a message with the person on the other end of the phone but she didn't seem particularly interested in finding out why I was calling. She did, however, give me a direct number to call for Jen. As I said above, I am persistent and will probably try again later today if convenient. However, it does seem unfortunate that it is so difficult to connect with a person in authority at Macy's when one wants to compliment a staff member - particularly in a world where people tend to complain more than compliment. read more

Terrible customer service from the credit department. They submitted a negative report to the credit bureau due to delinquent payment...but never sent a paper statement for the past two months. They state that they were unable to reach me, but yet when checking my account on-line, they have all my contact information. I paid my statement as soon as receiving the collection letter, but they refuse to submit a correction to the credit bureau, even though they failed to provide a paper statement, which is the option I never cancelled. They will not admit their error. After being a customer of Dayton's/Marshall Fields/Macy's for over 50 years, I am done with this rinky dink outfit...and everyone else should be too. read more

this is an awesome mac store, EVEN though they are in a super busy macy's in rosedale mall. the ladies are all super, super nice and very attentive. they are great at multi-tasking! and yes, sometimes you have to wait while they assist other customers, but they are super speedy and their artistry is well worth it. love this mac! read more
