Hello. I've been a customer of Macy's since I was a kid. Purchase a Adidas hoodie for $33 I go to the store quite often not dress just like everyone else. But when I went to the store yesterday, I noticed a theater in front of me. I mean they're all acting. Security was all over the place they had nothing else to do put bother me when I'm shopping. They were very intimidating to me. They acted like they were buying clothing but they was not. Well they had nothing else to do but bother me and my spending. The cashier lady was very nice but she was acting weird. I feel a little nervous going in the stores these days. The employees they're just being aggressive towards people of color.I've been shopping at Macy's in New York City. Their security never bothered as ever. Santa Rosa is a very racist town. Everybody starting to know it even the people that you don't see that look at you. I'm tired of being harassed by people that work in Santa Rosa stores. We had an issue with our gift card the first time we were there a few months ago. Today we gave it another chance and the same shit happened. We will NEVER BE Back at this location again. This review is customer service related. There is usually 3 levels of customer service, poor, food, or excellent, this store has a tendency to be EXCESSIVE, to the point that your feel harassed! Within a span of maybe 3-4 minutes I was asked "can I..." by three sales clerks, four different times, and they saw each other ask me, sometimes shoppers just want to look, maybe text some folks at home and see if they want, and which one they want, and confirm which size, maybe we need to check out C.C or bank account to confirm all is well before we make this purchase, as sometimes it is unexpected surprise to find items, especially in these scarce times; Other-times we may be calculating the discounts and totals on our calculators, and then sometimes we need to do all and maybe even other things prior to making up our minds. It was a terrible experience to shop there, and this is not the first time, ever since COVID the store is like a bunch of insanely board employees that are on the hunt for the lonely customer to pounce! I truly felt like an injured creature being circled by vultures! At a certain point your attentions to customers is not welcoming and helpful, it becomes unwelcoming and harassing, and makes me (and likely many other shoppers) uncomfortable and unwelcoming! You are not the only Macy's doing this, I have experienced this at your Coddingtown and San Rafael locations as well, I experienced clerks chasing me through the store hollering can I help you, through three departments, I had headset in and didn't hear them, but thought it strange someone was asking me that while I was in the middle of the isle not even looking at anything, I found out about the three department chase from a couple that watched her and were amused and a bit shocked, they said you must spend a lot of money here or thought maybe everyone now worked on commission. I was told by a security guard " you are the only customer in the store", it wasn't true, but I was one of only a few, maybe just maybe people aren't coming to the stores because your staff has made the experience so awkward and uncomfortable that people would rather avoid your store, I know unless I need to return something I will visit the web for my shopping until the memory of the hunted and unwelcome experience fades from my memory!! read more

Wish I'd have gotten the name of the lady who helped me find a dress yesterday... I stood at the cash register with a piddly little shirt in hand, ready to make my purchase. She asked if I'd found everything I was looking for and I sighed and said, "Unfortunately not... I really came here looking for a dress!" She dropped everything and had me chasing her all around 2 departments looking for dresses for me. She found a classy black number that fits perfectly, and I couldn't be happier with it. I rarely shop at Macy's for much but I did have an awesome experience during one of the fine jewelry sales. They carry rings by Le Vien (Effy) and had a nice selection. Having been to several Macy's in my time here on earth I feel as if this Macy's in particular could use a little re-vamp. The men's section in general is always picked over and little too demographic if you know what I mean. Expand your variety a bit Macy. I mean even though our city was named after Saint Rose, I would still prefer some blue collar alternatives when it comes to dressing up. The women have a lot more to choose from but I still feel as if this store is a bit dated and the clothes obviously cater to middle-aged woman who don't know how to dress. I would highly avoid this MAC counter and go to the one in Coddingtown. I am a long time customer of their eye makeup, and recent purchased some foundation, and tried it at home. It wasn't right for me, so I returned to the counter for a refund. It was a weekday afternoon, and the counter was not that busy. After being ignored for a full 5 minutes (if your busy, thats fine...you should at least acknowledge the customer), I was helped by a girl who CLEARLY thought she was better than me. She refused to accept the makeup back, even though I had the original packaging, with the original receipt, and the bar code that Macy's uses for all returns. She declared she could only give store credit, for use at their counter. (They aren't even their own store...they are part of Macy's) I'm completely confident that she knew their policy, but either didn't want to deal with me, or was trying to scam me out of more money. This is clearly against the Macy's return policy (who will give you cash back on any purchase if you have the receipt). I didn't want to deal with calling attention to the manager, so I left and took my product with me, and went to Coddingtown, where I was promptly helped, and returned my product without any problem. read more

This review is for Louise in the dish department. I have been here 3 times and lucky enough to always have help from her! She has helped me through my wedding registry, shipping, returns, and always helps me sort through the coupons I bring in and giving me the best deal with my Macy's card. I might just order from amazon if it wasn't for Louise. She's delightful and I love my new Denby Halo Collection! 3.5 stars for the rest of the store because it could be cleaner and better stocked. They're very well trained in the science of application and skin type/tone matching. I like it. So this high end makeup is pretty good - but I can't use it (sensitive skin). What I CAN use is the giggle I get from watching the homophobes when they realize that's a GUY under all that makeup behind the MAC counter with the huge butterfly painted on his face, (replete with mascara, lipstick, eyebrow pencil)! read more

We bought a couch (3k)at Macys three years ago. During the sales process we were coaxed into purchasing the Worry No More protection program. I think it was $500 extra. Within the first two months of owning the couch our dog chewed the cushions (covered under the warranty We called Worry No More to file a claim. They came out a couple of months later and fixed two of the cushions when i asked about the other cushions that they omitted from the claim they said i would need to file another claim. I did. They fixed another part of the couch and asked me to file another claim. I did in july of last year. Its now April almost a full year later and two and a half years from the incident. The claim is still open. When i called to check on the status of the claim they blamed the delay on China and the Corona Virus. So I opted to contact the Store and speak to the department Manager Marshall. He told me he could fix this issue. After a lot of back and fourth he handed me off to Natalie who said she would get it to the regional VP for Worry No More. She didnt. Instead they gave me a number to call. When i called that number it went directly to a Man in the Philippines who shouted at me that he couldnt help me and he once again gave me the number to Worry No More customer service. He said i should file a claim. I told him I cant since i still have a claim open. My point is dont waste you time go anywhere other than macys when purchasing furniture read more

I had one item to purchase. I waited at the counter for over 5 minutes. I walked across to the shoe department to ring up and was very rudely told I could not ring up there because they don't ring up clothing. Because they can't remove sensors. I politely told her there was no sensor on this item. She again told me I could not ring up. At this point I asked what her name was and she would not say anything. So I asked her if she had a name, which she replied NO. I took my phone out to take her picture so I could show the manager. She said I could not take her picture that it was illegal, it is not illegal to take a photo in a public place. Clearly she is not dressed appropriately for work, and she did not have on a name badge. I did find out her name was Rose. So I wanted to ensure the manager knew who it was. I went to another department where a very lovely lady named Elaine rang me up and called a manager over. He informed me that yes I should have been rung up in shoes. I was a loyal customer for 35 years and I will never shop or recommend anyone to do business with Macy's . I paid my account in-full days before it was due but they still wanted to charge me interest on a balance that was paid before the due date . Not once did they try to understand my point of view or would listen and they were concerned was their little two dollars interest charge . I love Macy's Coddingtown because I never see any sales associates, except occasionally when I go to pay! I hate it when sales associates stalk you- I just leave wherever it is I'm shopping. Luckily I haven't had that experience at Macy's. I hope I never do. I sometimes go to shop as a form of relaxation honestly. It would suck if that sales person "watching" you started to happen at Macy's. There'd be no where to go, but the way things are going that's days I wouldn't be surprised. I never leave reviews. But, I was so pleased with my shopping experience I just had to say something. The loveliest young man at the Sunglass Hut inside Macy's, Todd Kelly (yes I asked for his name), was just such a sweetheart and made my shopping experience fantastic. He suggested sunglass styles that he thought would look good and was patient why I tried on about every pair there. When I made my selection, he made sure I got the right case and did a very nice job cleaning the glasses. I don't have many pleasurable shopping experiences, but on this occasion it truly was. The Macy's Backstage is so bad. I bought a hair serum and a St. Ives oatmeal scrub/mask. I also bought a Woolite lingerie bag for laundry. When I brought the items home, I saw that the hair serum expired in July 2020. It's July 2020! I had to bring it back and I also returned the scrub/mask because who knows how old that one is. I'm not familiar with the haircare brand, but I checked online the St Ives product has updated packaging on every site. So that was probably expired too. It had some weird letter/number combination. I kept the third item I bought, but turns out I also have to bring that one back to the store as well. When I was about to do laundry, I opened the box and there was a HOLE in the mesh. The paint was chipping off of the zipper. I have other lingerie bags and the paint never chips off, there has never been a hole either despite using them for years. It was so gross, grey when it should have been white, and smelled like sweat. Extremely unprofessional and unacceptable. When I worked in retail we would always INSPECT returned items before we put it back on the floor. I don't live in Santa Rosa but now I have to take ANOTHER trip back to the store. I can't even begin to describe the frustration I have felt with the mattress department. I don't remember the sales clerk name but the man that seemed to be his boss was Charles. The day we purchased a mattress was the weekend of Black Friday. Great sales right? We found the one and of course we were $2 away from getting free delivery. We aren't picky people we were just going to deal with the delivery charge. However, this whole process quickly took a turn when their point of sales system stopped working and they were struggling on how to continue with the sale. I understood completely. I work in retail, technology fails you sometimes, I got it. However, I never expected this to go on for 2 hours. We were patient, but it quickly turned to annoyed when we were having to talk to someone through a phone to give our information. A phone that was handled by the sales clerk before and not even sanitized. It was just a whole mess. They gave us delivery date options and we chose the 8th of December. Perfect. Only a week and a half away. Moving on, we agreed to pay an extra $124 for a 10 year warranty and that would get us out of having to pay $159 for delivery. Okay win win. We then asked to pay installments for 12 months for the mattress instead of having to pay right away like the sales clerk said we could. Oh but he forgot to mention it can only be with a Macy's card which we didn't have. Ok brushed that off because we then signed up. Well once everything was finally done, he went over our receipt and shockingly we didn't get free delivery, there was an $11 charge. Now $11 is really nothing compared to $159 I realize that, but he neglected to say ANYTHING about this small charge until everything was processed. That really upset me because it's not about the amount, it's about not even having the courtesy to say "I apologize it does look like you'll have to pay a small fee still for delivery". I was done at this point. They offered us a $25 off coupon for anything in the store but really I just was done with Macy's for the day. Fast forward to today, December 8th, when we scheduled our delivery. We tried all weekend and yesterday to get an ETA on the mattress but were unsuccessful. I then look to see our receipts again to see how we can get in touch with an actual person instead of a robot and lo behold, the supervisor didn't even out the delivery date in the system! It's empty! Even though he gave us our dates of choosing and we agreed on one! This will be the last time I ever make a bag purchase at Macy's. And I advise anyone to not work with Charles. read more

My dear sibling had a few ideas, walked me around to different counters, using strange vocabulary as if I knew what she meant by any of it before we made our way here. Someone with an apron stopped to help and my sister explained what we were there for. They spoke to each other for a bit, using words that I thought I knew, but didn't make sense in a makeup context. Having grown up in downtown Santa Rosa I have been to this Macy's more times than I can count. If you are in Santa Rosa and need to go to a department store this is your go-to place. And lucky for this Macy's that that is the case because it really couldn't compete otherwise. This Macy's is just not comparable to Macy's in Corte Madera and San Francisco. I understand it is for a different market, but this store could seriously do better. Sorting through clothes on the racks here really makes me hate shopping. They are consistently a mess and there is so much bad merchandise mixed up with the good that it is really a process to find anything good. Customer service is hit or miss. Sometimes you get the best customer service ever and other times you are waited on by someone who you can tell hates their job...and life. One great thing about this Macy's is the makeup counters. But seriously, it is hard to mess those up. read more

The makeup department here has gotten worse over the years. No one knows the brands and you can tell on the employee's faces that they are just as frustrated as you are. I have shopped at Macy's for a long time because of the men's selection of designer clothing. In the last year or so the product line has been dwindling, becoming poorer in quality and design, while using way too many synthetic materials that are really damaging to the skin. The men's pants for instance are all really tight around the crotch. No selections for roomer pants anywhere in the store. This is a review of the Macy's furniture dept. only. Don't go here. If Yelp had negative stars, they would get them. While the selection is nice, unless you can walk out of the store with the item you are buying, I would suggest rethinking your purchase. We were lied to about the timeline of 1 month. Now it is 3 months after we first bought our sofa, we have yet to get a complete, non damaged, matching set. They did not have all 3 pieces, so for an extra delivery charge they sent the 2 they had. They didn't match. This particular sofa only has 2 colors, dark brown and light brown. The two we received were dark brown shiny, and dark brown matte. Once we called and explained this, Macy's said it would send out a complete new set and take back the old 2, which I thought was a nice solution. If that had happened this review would be a 3-4 star review. Currently macy;s expects to be able to deliver our sofa sometime in the next "month or two" which is about 5 months after we ordered/purchased our sofa. So if all goes well, we will have received our sofa, 5 months, 3 deliveries and 1 return after we ordered it. As a whole separate matter, the delivery trucks Macy's uses appears to be a subcontractor, or so claimed the "gentleman" that came to my house for the 2nd delivery, he clearly didn't understand customer service and did not seem to care anything about Macy's reputation, nor did he actually deliver the pieces that were in the truck. He thought his truck would not fit in the driveway, even though the previous sofa delivery, as well as the mattress delivery and the moving trucks all could. After 30 minutes of cajoling and pleading he tried to back in, slowly. After he was about halfway (on a 600ft driveway) and in sight of the house, he said that he has spent too much time already, and had to leave to "keep his schedule". Needless to say I was speechless. AWFUL customer service in the men's (the area with Levi's, American Rag, etc) department. No one was on the floor to assist with finding what I needed. When I get to the checkout counter where the two employees are 'hanging out', I received no greeting, she barely spoke two words to me the whole transaction. When I asked for gift boxes she said they just ran out and said I could walk over and get one from another cash-wrap or check upstairs myself. Together, we joined forces of which should be reckoned with, and all questioning had been demolished from existence. I bought my son a package of Ralph Lauren Polo undershirts. When we opened the package, the shirts had a horrible smell. I threw them in the washing machine and when they came out the smell was still there, so bad that they couldn't be worn. We had the original package as well as the sales receipt. Macy's refused to take back the shirts, and wouldn't so much as offer a store credit. They argued that the package was opened and the shirts had been washed. Just in case you don't know this, every other store I've ever purchased clothing from would have taken the clothing back in this circumstance, especially with the original package and receipt (and a nose with a sense of smell!). This is completely out of line for a store that hopes to remain competitive with all the other choices we have. I hope Macy's enjoys the $40 they got from that purchase. It will be the last dollar they ever get from me. UPDATE: I complained to Macy's on their website and received an almost immediate response from the manager of their men's department. Whatever associate we dealt with did not understand the return policy. He has assured us the shirt can be returned and very quickly resolve the matter. Parking is free for 90 minutes then you will need to pay to park ! There is no validation available. AC only works in some of the departments so one star is lost for that . Trying on clothes in an area with no AC gets very hot and sometimes smelly! All those bodies ! Some of the staff are awesome like Danielle in Benefit and the brow bar manager Heather . They always have a sale of some kind going on, today was a fashion show for back to school with a live DJ and giveaways. American Rag was buy one get one free on the full price stuff. It was the last item in that size and she found it and had it shipped for me. This is truly an amazing experience and if I ever move out there, I'll know who to ask for. She's the department manager for men's and Home and I'm just so lucky to have had an amazing experience. I live over 2 hours away and its nice to know that I didn't have to drive 2 hours knowing I would barely make it after a long day of work. This gift might be the last for someone important and this was the last request because he might not have had another year. Michael in the men's shoes department. He is simply excellent at customer service. I went in to return boots that fell apart over 4 months. He didn't ask me if I wanted store credit or try to argue about whether I should get a refund. He didn't ask me what was wrong with the boots. He said "let's get you a refund". The whole time he reassured me that everything would work out fine. I was expecting so much resistance. This was so refreshing. Totally gave me faith in Macy's. Amazing guy.
