Macy's, oh Macy's.... what can I say? I'm giving you 2 stars because from the many employees on the floor today who "helped" me, only 1 woman was actually outstanding in her customer service. What did she do? She didn't point out a direction and said "oh go there and ask someone." That's all she did. Which should be her job, isn't it? But because 4 (!!) employees said the same it made her stand out. I was looking for a bathing suit, at this time of the year it's probably not in the store anymore but I wanted to look. I asked the first employee whose directions were so confusing that she said "go and ask someone else." Really? Number 2 and 3 said "oh, it's probably not here anymore. Just go in "that" direction and someone will help you there.... and continued their conversation. Number 4 said: I'll look for you. Think she's still looking since she never returned. Number 5 was Karen who said: "let's take a look," and walked the floor with me, made a phone call and could answer my question. 4 people just didn't care about customer service.., Quite sad, when you ask me. Macy's has a ton of different brands and styles for men. They're decently good about having every size available, but being a bit skinnier and shorter than average, they still sometimes only have something slightly too big for me. Oddly enough, that also holds true on their website. Their membership perks are pretty rewarding. They send a lot of 25% coupons in the mail. It seemed that everything in the store was 50% off, which meant we couldn't use the coupons on most of what we bought though. The staff is friendly and helpful, but they're always in the service stands and it's rare to see one walking by that I can just flag down, which I know is a super picky complaint to make. read more

Wow. What a BIG store! Everything just seems so spacious. Although we didn't spend too much time here due to a time crunch, what I did see and shop around in was a pretty good selection. We stopped by the children's clothes, and I found an outfit that had a button up shirt and a pair of shorts for $10 something. They had much more on sale for such amazing prices, but I only needed one outfit. I didn't go too crazy this trip. Then, we headed to the men's section where I found a button up shirt on sale for $19.99. When I was rung up at the register, with a coupon, everything came out to $22 something! Score! The employee in the men's department who rung us up was quite sweet, too. Overall, it was a good experience, and u can't wait to check out their women's section and hopefully still feel the same way about the store! read more

This Macy's is rather large. Since the after Christmas sales are upon us, the place is a mess, and full of people. There was hardly any customer service and the selection they have for dresses was ASS. My soon to be sister in law was looking for a dress for the wedding. We were in the Macy's Woman section and waited and waited to see someone who worked there. We finally got her attention and asked about dresses or dressy wear for a special occasion. She pointed to the dresses area-not offering to show us. There was nothing. We then went to the lingerie section. Again, no customer service. When I finally tracked someone down to ask them a question, she told me she had to find someone else who could answer my question. Since I knew that was the brush off, I handled things myself. MIL and SIL got new bras, I got to eavesdrop on other customers complaining about the lack of service and got to witness a woman have her coat stolen from the dressing room and the 20 minutes it took for store security to come down to talk to her. I am not going to even start on the shoe department, only to say, that since a lot of stores have gone out of business, Macy's has just gotten LAZY. One bonus, they do have plenty of chairs around to sit on while you are waiting. Had I been smart like several of the men I saw today, I would have brought a book. read more

Where to start.... Well, I do not personally shop at Macy's. I think they tend to be overpriced. Having said that, every single time that I shop in the men's dept. (for my dad, or my fiance) there is a man who works there (named Bijan) who is always amazing. So amazing in fact that it prompted me to come sit down at my computer and write this review. He is always friendly, professional, and man does he know his stuff. He looked my dad over for 10 seconds and put him in exactly the right suit size. Not an easy task for a 5'6 180 pound man. The suit fit so well in fact that all we had to have done was to hem the pants. If you don't know what you are doing ASK FOR BIJAN. I am sure you will get the same great service that we continue to get time after time that we return. read more

So busy. Yet finding parking was pretty easy. I had a hard time finding where to check-out, and the places I did check out at were SO SLOW. And I'm not talking about long lines, on two occasions only one person was in front of me and it still took 10+ minutes each time. I'm all for personable customer service, but when it becomes lengthy small-talk or devolves into pitch after pitch for store cards or what have you, it is a major drag. Nonetheless, it is what it is. Holy gerbils this place is freezing. Seriously. The whole mall is air conditioned enough that you should bring a coat, but damn, gear up for a trip to the arctic if you plan to set foot in here. And heaven forbid you should want to try anything on. Disrobing in the fitting rooms is a thermal endurance test. I had the luck/bad luck of wandering into Macy's in Washington Square on the same day that they, and seemingly most of the stores in the mall, were having winter clearance/post-holiday sales, so there was alot more bodies to maneuver around, and the selection was very hit-or-miss. The dressing rooms were crowded, and there were lines to pay at every register. I actually had to ask the clerk to take the only pair of the jeans I wanted in my size off a mannequin so that I could buy them. I ended up getting some great deals on name-brand stuff, that I would never have bothered with otherwise due to price. read more

If possible you should always become a macys card holder, it gives you so many benefits like crazy discounts especially during the one day sale. I just bought a comforter set for my younger sister whos entering freshman year for 85% off. Crazy discounts. The staff is honestly super nice and helpful, this cute lady who reminded me of my grandma, literally spent an hour with me looking for a new mattress set for me. "THANKS FOR SHARING" is a great program, if you regularly shop here you should definitely buy it. You basically donate 25 dollars to charity, and from now until christmas you get 10% off all purchases using your macys credit card. Basically if you spend over 250 dollars during christmas you should get this deal, and plus the money goes to charity! The "THANKS FOR SHARING" started already so buy it asap! read more

This Macy's doesn't really know what it target market is so it has a slim selection of a broad range of items. Most of them are over priced even on sale. What I found odd is the cross section of hip and traditional that neither group would wear. The hip was trendy for last season and the traditional clothing was poor quality. The shoe department I found odd with a cross section of inexpensive dress shoes that are trendy but out of style and basic shoe style that no one would wear. One thing I did notice was the chairs near the womens changing room. The quality of the chairs and their location is a good indicator of the quality of the store. Cheap dinning room chairs sitting in the isle isn't a good indicator. No reading material. The chairs were placed more as an after thought than a plan. Macy's has lost its edge and becoming a Kohl's, but more expensive. It's buyers has lost focus on the customer. They are focusing on the bottom end than maintaining a good customer base. The employees were helpful and asked if I needed assistance, but one would expect that type of service from Macy's. Over all, it a lower than standard Macy's, maybe the downtown Portland one is better. read more

The worst experience I've ever had shopping for men's shoes. Our sales associate was abrasive and annoyed at helping us find shoes from the start. Sandie rolled her eyes while haphazardly flopping shoes on the floor. I am baffled by the way we were treated and I cringed every time we asked a question or needed another size. My dad went to the alteration center to get his suit altered. The woman who helped him was Alla Bodnar, she was very professional. Clear, step by step instructions. She altered his suit quickly, and professionally. We had a great experience at the Alteration center in Macy's located at Washington Square mall. Also, the gentlemen selling the suit to us was a great, professional worker. Great place to start a fragrance war. Select the nastiest scent you can find, aim it at the closest person (it can be a stranger) and fire away. I gotta say, I was super disappointed when they removed the "urban" clothing. They pulled all the Ecko and Roca Wear. WTF? Too damn white bread, but maybe that's where the trends are going... or the market doesn't call for it? Eh, still... when I'm in a pinch for some last minute business clothing, Macy's is my go to. Something about shopping at Macy's is generally off-putting to me these days. Either the overall quality of the store's offerings has declined over the years, or my tastes have gotten more refined as I've gotten older, and I've consequently outgrown shopping here. The in-house lines in particular get to me; I generally find them overpriced and behind on current trends. I came at the right time, they were having some great promotions and it wasn't too crowded. I had been shopping all day and my feet hurt, on the way out I came across some purses. All the girls in this department are so smiley and friendly. I got a lot of help from Shariah. We both related to being new to the area and she helped dig around the heaps of purses looking for one I described. I live close to Washington Square so I come here often. However it is always crazy busy in here. It doesn't matter what time of day be prepared for tons of people. The shoe department needs to come up with a better way to serve the masses. It took forever to find someone to get a shoe for me, plus they don't have a line for checkout. As a parent of a high school girl, somehow this place really seems to work out for us. We have tried the specialty stores and we never find stuff that we both agree on. we have tried other department stores and we (again) never find stuff (especially that she wants). At Macy's we always seem to find that they have stuff that she wants, that I can live with, that doesn't take too long to find, and that I can afford. All good things since I don't have unlimited patience or money. This past week, I played around on the phone while she tried on a bunch of summer dress' and we found two that we liked. They helped me when I asked them to check in the back and they were able to let me know where else I could get the clothing I wanted. My review only reflects the Lancôme counter at the WSM Macy's. My beauty consultant, Laura has provided me with stellar customer service for the past one year. Most of my stops are at my work lunch hour so she respects my shopping is time sensitive and gets me in and out in 10 mins. I am happy that she has matched me with the right olive undertone makeup. Regardless of the crowd that surrounds the counter, Laura remains calm. Just please don't leave.........or make sure you train another as yourself. read more

She was patient and thoughtful and went out of her way to help me and my mother and future wife. I can't say enough nice things about her. This location is filthy and unclean. I can't believe this location has a Chanel counter in it! That's like selling Prada at K-Mart... I was browsing cosmetics and noticed a child go up to some displayed lipsticks that were at kid-level and wipe it all over it's mouth and then put it back. I waited for an associate or someone to stop the child or clean it after he had used it but no one did.... EEEEEeeewwwww..... That is a lawsuit waiting to happen. This place is kind of a mess. It is big, and on two floors. It has a big selection but the layout makes it hard to get arround in the store. I kind of like the kitchen section, good selection and they have some good sales and specials. I have bought several items here. The clothing tends to be boring and expensive. How Macy's ruined my party With new house comes new table. We found one at Macy's and bought it with delivery today... The delivery came an hour late, and - drums rolling - they shipped mismatched set: the base from a different table, and then spent half an hour trying to assemble it! Now I have a house full of chairs, and promises of the next delivery attempt on July 5th. Oh, and the upcoming party for which I have chairs but no table. Macy's response?
