They really changed around the departments here. I think it's great that they have a significant section for plus sizes. I wasn't able to find the sweaters I was looking for my mom. The first floor with mostly casual clothing. The dressier clothing for women were on the second floor. We ended up finding something suitable for my mother. The women's clothing areas seem to be rather disorganized. At least they have kept the men's clothing down in the basement or ground floor. I wasn't able to find any scarves. There's small sections of bombs scattered everywhere. Some by the purses, some by the kids section. We were able to find any other ones. read more

I prefer Christy, because she's Macky, rather than Macy. So should you. This is located at the Oakland Mall and is a big Macy's that's pretty old in a big old Mall. We don't really like Macy's as much as we like JCPenney, but this is a pretty decent location and bustling full of people - so it's pretty good for people watching as well. This Macy's has always been frustrating, messy, understaffed, no registers open, but wow they have hit a new low. They advertise what a good job they're doing with Corona, but in reality it's terrible. They literally only have one cash register open on the 2nd floor. When I got in line there were 10 people ahead of me. Even if the cashier was speedy, which she wasn't, and it was 5 minutes a customer that's a 50 minute wait. I waited almost an hour to buy my items, which normally I would have bailed, but I really actually needed them. Couple that with the fact that there are no fitting rooms opened, which is not a mandate, they've just chosen not to open them because they only called back 30% of their staff, which was verified by the cashier. So if you want something you have to buy it and hope it fits, otherwise you're going to be bringing it back and waiting in line again. I was looking for a mother of the bride dress also, and saw some that I liked but at $200+ & up a dress, I'm not buying 5 dresses and taking them home and then bringing them back. As usual the floors were trashed. Clothes strewn everywhere no one to help and just in general a giant mess. If Macy's wonders why people aren't coming it's not because of the Corona it's because your store is a disaster. There's been a lot of talk over the last couple of years about why retailers are doing poorly and people shop on Amazon it's because the stores are so frustrating. read more

It's sort of breaks my heart to write this review. I will go out of my way to go to this Macy's to avoid having to deal with Somerset. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. The women's section at this store is absolutely abysmal. In fact, it's kind of insulting. There is a small section of teen dresses and a small section of elegant floor length gowns in random sizes. That's it. There's no day wear dresses or cocktail attire; with the exception of 32 different Calvin Klein type dresses. There's literally no wearable stock. As my mother used to say "I wouldn't wear any of this to a worm wrestle". The rest of women's wear is equally bad. There is no lingerie section, just an underwear section that sells flannel pajamas. There are no clothes that you would want to wear to the theater or to work. And other than Levi's and silver jeans geared towards teenagers, there is no denim in the store. Make your way to shoes, beauty, and handbags on the second floor, and it only gets worse. The women's shoe section looks like they had a sale and everyone came in and beat each other up to take every pair of shoes that existed in the store. Except that's not what happened and that's just how it looks every day. Again there are no high-end heels here from which to buy. There is the shitty Macy's brand (INC) and some Michael Kors but that's about it. The handbag section looks like it was robbed. But it wasn't. There's a handful of coach bags from last year and the crappiest Michael Kors stock I've ever seen. There's no one there to help you, so if you want one, good luck. A few times I did purchase bags there and asked for gift boxes, they didn't have any. So much for that luxury experience. Beauty. I actually feel bad for the section. It might be the only area that still tries to sell to women. However, it is glaringly understaffed. It also is glaringly understocked. Many of the shelves are just barren. There's never anyone to help you test different perfume samples. Which is insane to me. Who buys perfume without smelling it first? I just don't understand this phenomenon. The men's section might be the only part of his Macy's that still has any semblance of what Macy's looks like, left to it. Once again, extremely barren. However, I have had good luck finding men's dress shirts. The Ralph Lauren is typically well stocked. That's about it. The men's shoe section is also abysmal. Based on my most recent visit, I was certain this location was closing. Color me surprised when I found out it was not in fact closing, it just looks like this. read more

This place is horrible. The reason why I don't want to go to malls. It is dirty and unorganized. Staff doesn't want to be there and don't dare to ask then a question, because you are bothering them. I'm a big believer in the middle way. Not too high, not too low, just right. When it comes to clothing and housewares, Macy's is a good middle way for me. There is an ample selection of items of adequate (and I do not use that word pejoratively) quality: not cheap and not beyond my budget. I've been to a few Macy's stores in the area and this one feels the most comfortable. The surrounding mall is not as glitzy as some others in the area. The staff is nice (all whom I've encountered seem easy-going with a good sense of humor). Black Friday Chaos was not a pretty site they at least should have had an employee set aside to pick up the messes made per department it truly turned into a safety hazard I nearly tripped over some comforters that were piled on the floor near the price checker. We went to the Macy's at the Oakland Mall for a sale they were having on mattresses. Very few customers and sales help was hard to find. We had found what we wanted but had some additional questions that could not be answered that evening and the sale ended that night. We were told by our sales representative ,Janice, that they would honor the sale price and she said she worked the next day and could close the deal then . We returned the next day to find out she was not scheduled to work until the day after that. We called the next day and talked with her and she said to come on in. We drove in that night to be told by Janice that they would not honor the sale price.She could have told us over the phone to save us a trip but did not. Took me forever to walk around to all the departments on the first floor looking for someone to ring up a gift card for me. No one asked if I needed help. Afterwards I went to the bare minerals counter to check out some eye shadow brushes and no one was there either. Really wanted to buy something, but I guess they missed out on that one. Wow.... just wow... I don't understand what's wrong here. Do you need to hire more people? Do you need new management? I feel like maybe it's just a matter of having people who CARE about their job. The rest of the mall wasn't much better! But I hold Macy's to a higher standard because, let's face it, it's MACYS... Not once, in the couple hours I was there, did anyone offer help or assistance. There was one girl who saw me shopping and told me that the four racks in the back were 80%off... but that was it. It was a Monday, so there weren't many shoppers at all, yet the dressing rooms were PACKED with clothing that customers had left behind. There were also articles of clothing all over the floor between racks that I guess customers didn't bother to pick up after looking at. The check out counters weren't any better. There were products, empty boxes, tissue paper, hangers, damaged items, and other random materials just stacked up everywhere around them in plain view of the customer. Most clothing displays on the second floor were messy and unkept, and the racks behind them weren't labeled with the right prices. I also saw very expensive clothing items that were clearly damaged and some looked like they were used to clean the floor. I should have taken pictures to better describe all of these things better, but I am not one to make a big deal about negative reviews. I just hope maybe someone reads this and cares enough to make things better. read more

I went in there with all intentions to sign up for a 200-person wedding registry, and both of the customer service reps told me they couldn't attend me because "they weren't even supposed to be working there." I went out to get a Birthday gift I was looking for a purse. I don't even know how to explain this, The store was a complete on organized disaster which is acceptable for a store like Macy's!! It look more like Burlington Coat Factory!!! When you are spending $200 to $300 on one item. You just expect that the store would be nice clean and organized. My expectations for Macy's he's always been high especially in service and quality. I haven't been there in a long time maybe that's changed. I'm still blown away and how dirty the store was, the carpeting was completely filthy and it looks like no one has clean the glass cases in days. I know it's difficult to find people with with COVID-19 you think they would at least have the proper cleaning going on? It just makes me wonder. I was also surprised buying a expensive purse, Michael Kors that they didn't even have a box to put it in Just put into a plastic bag. Sad to see what has become of this store. We entered the I-75 doors right after they opened today. The store was an absolute wreck. Tons of coats and clothes all over the floor, a dumped coffee from some prior day. I didn't feel like being there let alone spending money. Worst customer service experience ever. Went in and tried on some suits/shirts. There was nowhere to put it so I tried to find somebody to ask where I should put it. The lady cuts me off and says "one sec i'll be right with you." and runs away. So I stand and wait. 5 minutes pass so I just leave the clothes on the counter and check out other clothes while keeping an eye out for her. I probably look at other clothes for about 10 minutes, she still had not returned, so I decided to wait at the customer service desk to check out while staring at her post. I stand there for about 15 minutes, nobody shows up at customer service and the lady does not return. I finally spot another person who was working in the suits section and move over to him to buy my stuff. The lady still didn't show up. So I waited about 30 minutes after she tells me "one sec I'll be right back" After this, I forgot to ask if they tailor the suits, so I call. Nobody ever picks up the phone in the Men's Department. I called every department with nobody picking up. And One of the calls to the suits department, I bet it was the same lady as earlier, but she quickly says "hold one while I help a customer." I wait 20 minutes on the line before hanging up and constantly bombarding every other department until I get somebody to pick up after 5 more minutes of trying to ask a 30 second question. read more

I began shopping at Sephora in Oakland Mall because, though the prices are way out of my budget, the clerks' level of customer service was amazing. Today, for the 3rd time, the store was out of my shade of airbrush foundation. I asked the three clerks (who were ALL servicing one customer getting a makeover) about it, they basically shook their heads and went back into their conversations with each other. One clerk (heavy eye makeup, Asian American) was the most dismissive, and I felt like I don't look like I belong there. I may have racked up 300 pts. on my card, but I won't be back. But, I would really like to know who made the ingenious decision to discontinue the sale of CRACKERS?! Macy's Taste Bar offers four types of soup today...all delicious. Terrible customer service. Extremely lazy workers in the jewelry department. More specifically fine jewelry. I had a return and the counter that I had to return to, the associate was assisting a customer who was taking a bit longer so I walked over to the counter next it where I saw two associates standing around and asked if I could return. They informed that I could not return at their counter which was RIGHT NEXT TO THE BRAND that I had to return to. Lazy!!!!! Rude!!!! I had to wait another 10 minutes to complete my return. I think the coupons offered in the newspaper and elsewhere are basically a sham. There are so many exclusions I do not even bother with them anymore. This, in turn, has caused me to shop elsewhere, mostly, including online (but not online at Macys). I do appreciate discounts such as the 30% VIP discount I received the other day. In sum, I shop at Macys less because I do not like taking my order to the counter and being told that the coupons are not valid. Times sure have changed. As a long-time shopper at Hudson's and now Macy's, I can now say I have given up on them for good. Tried to purchase a men's belt today & after 20 minutes of searching, I literally could not find anyone to ring up my sale. When I am willing to make a purchase and hand over my money, I should not be required to conduct a search for an employee beforehand. Macys 0akland mall is a clean and friendly mall. I recently purchased area rugs from this location. The salesperson Cheryl was very helpful and offered suggestions within my price range. The downfall is macys does NOT own this department. Although they use macys receipt, this is a leased space. Macys rules and policies does not apply to this department. If you are purchasing from them, read your fine print. You would be surprised. You are paying big ticket for these rugs. It's a 7 day return/exchange policy. So if you don't like the match with your room, you better know quick. I do suggest the protection plan on the rugs. It is worth it once you buy them. read more
