(They are new family to me, but I want to honor their age and their long marriage, married over 70 years!) The bakery's mailbox was full when I called, and I got hung up on. I then messaged the bakery through Yelp. I got the following response from the owner Sarah, "I apologize, it's typically very hard to chat during the day for me. What kind of cake / cupcakes were you looking for?" I immediately wrote back, "You can call me when it is convenient (and gave her my phone number.) I will be in Lincoln for a small family gathering, date of lunch is Sunday September 20. I am meeting 3 new people. Two of them are 93, one just turned, the other will be end of September, man and wife married over 70 years. I want a small round two layer cake, white cake with chocolate buttercream icing. Then a dozen cupcakes. I would like to talk to you about the flavors. I would like everything delivered to my aunt's house." (BTW, I didn't see a website or anywhere where I could see cupcake flavors.) I waited two days then messaged through Yelp again, "Sarah I understand that you are busy. I hope you saw my last message from two days ago since you didn't respond. Can you tell me when (or if) to expect a call from you? I would like to go over the details of the order I would like to place." I kept waiting for a response, and when I didn't get one, I went back to my original email from Yelp stating I could respond directly to the business through the email (which again took me to Yelp's messaging.) I sent the following "Sarah I sent you two more messages (Tuesday and today, Thursday,) now I decided to send one from the first Yelp email I got that told me you had replied to my initial email. I am hoping to hear from you. Sarah responded right away, "the easiest way to get into contact with us is through yelp messenger. Thanks!" (Which is what I had been doing!) It is now 3 days later since my original phone call. I got the runaround and was never able to speak with anyone or place an order. After this experience I am calling another bakery. I am coming from out of town and hosting a family function and need reliability. I need someone who will call me back. I am thoroughly disappointed with my experience with this business and would never recommend it. COVID or no COVID, this lack of responsiveness to a prospective customer is in excusable! read more
