We knew something was wrong and were just before the Christiansburg exit, so I quick looked on yelp and saw Ashton's Place not far with a 5 star review. So I started calling and Ashton answered and as I was on the phone explaining, the car stopped completely and we just made it into a little store just down the road from Ashton's. He said stay there, I'll walk down to you. He came with a portable battery & got us started. We drove to his shop and he took a look right away, and told us what it would cost and how long he estimated, which would put it past his closing time. He asked if we had somewhere to stay overnight; he assured us he would try and get it done or if he couldn't that night, definitely the next morning. He even recommended a hotel (which we loved!) and asked his coworker, Joe, to drive us there! Near the hotel was a restaurant we were eating. Halfway through dinner he called to say it was ready! They had stayed after closing to finish it. He even brought it to us at the restaurant! I don't know about you, but I've never had better service than that! This was the case when my car was handling badly and a friend told me was told it was my transmission. I attempted to check the fluid myself, but couldn't find the stick to check it. I was told to check with AA Transmission. I brought my car in and asked them to just check it out and let me know what was wrong. A few hours later I got a call saying my car was ready. I get a ride back to the center and ask what the cost would be. They heard me tell them I couldn't find the "stick thing", and that I had no idea what was wrong. They very easily could've taken me for a lot of money. Instead, they were honest and told me it only needed a little bit of fluid. My final cost - the $3 in cash I had in my pocket. I would definitely recommend them to anyone. Honesty, integrity, and friendly service goes a long way these days.

We called our insurance company and asked about roadside service. They said they'd get a tow truck to us. Well, we waited on the side of the road for 5 1/2 hours before they showed up. But that's a different review. But I wanted to set the stage regarding our urgency to get moving again. The trip should have taken us 6-7 hours. So finally, after the tow arrived we were on our way. They pulled us up in front of an establishment and we went inside to see about repairs and time. We were told it would be Monday (the day the rodeo ends) before they could look at it. Oh, the deflated hearts were terrible. Then someone showed up in the parking lot and we were sharing our story with them. They said, well, we're pretty slammed too, but let's get it down to our shop and we'll take a look. These men were from Straight Arrow Transmission just down the way on the other side of the parking area. They even got their own vehicle to pull the now disconnected trailer and golfl cart there too. After some diagnostic work, they suspected the coil was bad. Odd, because I'd replaced it a few months earlier. But, as it turns out they actually had a same model donor vehicle right there. So they pulled the coil from that vehicle and put it in mine to test. Sure enough, it fired right up. Then they contacted their vendor and had them deliver a brand new coil. When it arrived, they installed it and checked the truck out. All was great! Total time onsite was just under an hour. You don't often find folks who will stop what they're doing to help a traveler. But these folks did. They did it fast, they did it right and with laughs and smiles. This is the kind of stuff you look for when needing professional mechanical help. Great job guys! Sorry it took me so long to get this review.

Now summer 2023, the u-joint is bad again. The mechanic I brought it to said it appeared that it wasn't greased. I'm not sure who is at fault. The company they sent the u-joint off to, or AA Automatic Transmissions. All I know is I brought my truck into them for a u-joint repair and less than a year later the u-joint is bad again. This is my first and only yelp review because I lost $600 on this.

I came to McCoy because I had to get a state inspection. Which they were able to pull into the bay…read moreright away. After about 1 hour(state inspection should only take about 20-30) mins they told me my exhaust hanger needed repair. The cost of the hanger was $9.95 and it would take about 30 mins of welding and the labors cost for the 30 mins of welding was $55 and they could do it right now. I told them to go ahead. Once I gave them the go ahead my car set in the bay unattended for 15-20mins. Then they had to go in my car and remove something which I gave them the all clear to remove based of them saying it needed to be taking down in order to pass inspection. Now the problem came with the actual welding itself. After they removed the thibgs from the inside of my car the mechanic walked away from the car again. He then came back walked away again and came back. This happened about 3 or 4 times. He then finally lifted the car up and walked away again. He came back looked under the car and walked away again. This happen another 2 times. Then he brought the welding machine over and walked away once more. Then welded the piece which took all of 5 seconds. Then proceeded finally put the car down. Now when she originally told me the labor cost was for the 30 mins of welding labor. Now when I came in and mentioned it only took 5 seconds they then said oh thats for the welding, the machine, welder etc. I don't believe that because after I mentioned it the fellow next to her said oh did he do diagnostic. I said no just state inspection. Then a couple minutes later a guy called bother her and the fellow next to her in the back. They were back there for about 5-7 mins and then thats when she gave me the story about the $55 was not just for the labor but the machine, welder, etc. What it seems like to me is they tried to make it seems like it would be 30 mins and tried to drag it out to be 30 mins to justify the cost and what they told me but when I called it out the story cahnged. I would be very weary of bringing my car back here. If I hadn't been watching what they were doing I would have believed them based on when I actually got my car back. I came in a little before 9:20am and didnt leave until after 11:25am.
