Wow... I read the negative reviews??? On Google they have 4.5 stars from over 160 reviews. At 63yrs of age it's coming up on 1/2 a century of taking my vehicles in for repairs and I would say McCoy's is one of the best if not, THE best experience I've ever had. We were on our way to an important appointment & our 2004 Tahoe start making a strange squeal, we pulled into McCoy's (1st time ever been there because we are new to the area). I flagged down a mechanic & asked if he could listen and see if we had a issue that could be band-aided so we could make our appointment? SURPRISE #1... he and his female assistant stopped what they were doing and immediately found the issue with the power steering... put it up on the rack, temporarily repaired the issue, gave us a less than $100 quote to come back in 2 days and have it fully repaired!!! We made I our appointment... 2 days later we came back at the scheduled time, they repaired the power steering at the quoted price and we were in & I out. Turns out the mechanic that helped us is the owner's son & chief mechanic over the 12 mechanics they have working there. I came to McCoy because I had to get a state inspection. Which they were able to pull into the bay right away. After about 1 hour(state inspection should only take about 20-30) mins they told me my exhaust hanger needed repair. The cost of the hanger was $9.95 and it would take about 30 mins of welding and the labors cost for the 30 mins of welding was $55 and they could do it right now. I told them to go ahead. Once I gave them the go ahead my car set in the bay unattended for 15-20mins. Then they had to go in my car and remove something which I gave them the all clear to remove based of them saying it needed to be taking down in order to pass inspection. Now the problem came with the actual welding itself. After they removed the thibgs from the inside of my car the mechanic walked away from the car again. He then came back walked away again and came back. This happened about 3 or 4 times. He then finally lifted the car up and walked away again. He came back looked under the car and walked away again. This happen another 2 times. Then he brought the welding machine over and walked away once more. Then welded the piece which took all of 5 seconds. Then proceeded finally put the car down. Now when she originally told me the labor cost was for the 30 mins of welding labor. Now when I came in and mentioned it only took 5 seconds they then said oh thats for the welding, the machine, welder etc. I don't believe that because after I mentioned it the fellow next to her said oh did he do diagnostic. I said no just state inspection. Then a couple minutes later a guy called bother her and the fellow next to her in the back. They were back there for about 5-7 mins and then thats when she gave me the story about the $55 was not just for the labor but the machine, welder, etc. What it seems like to me is they tried to make it seems like it would be 30 mins and tried to drag it out to be 30 mins to justify the cost and what they told me but when I called it out the story cahnged. I would be very weary of bringing my car back here. If I hadn't been watching what they were doing I would have believed them based on when I actually got my car back. Took my Durango in for an inspection and was told it needed $300 in repairs, I authorized the repairs. They called a day later advising that it needed additional repairs and the cost is now close to $600, I authorized the repairs. The following day they called and advised that the sleeve that holds my dipstick is rusted and they need to go into the manifold to remove and replace the sleeve, cost $1,000, I authorized. I go to pick my Durango up and drive it one day and take it home and park it. I go to start it and I hear a loud noise in my engine. I call them to come and tow it, they call back and advise a rod has been thrown and I need an engine. They proceed to say that there was no oil in the vehicle and this is what caused the problem. I ask them if the bottom of the dipstick sleeve was rusted completely off then how would they know if there was no oil. I advise them that I had no engine problems at all and ask how did they remove the rust from the manifold. They advised they just removed the sleeve and replaced it, nothing done to remove rust. I ask them if they didn't suction the rust from the manifold then how are they sure no rust got into my oil pan and in my engine causing the problem? They advised my Jeep has high mileage and needs an engine. I went to the shop to talk to the mechanic and when he pulled the paperwork out they had hand written a note on the paperwork advising that when I 1st brought it in the engine was making a noise. I advised them that the handwritten note could have been wrote at any time, it is not on the computer print out and no one said anything to me about any noise but now that I'm complaining there was all of a sudden a noise. This is very frustrating and i never should have taken my vehicle there. I am in the process of having to get a lawyer to resolve this. read more

Dropped off truck that was moving under its own power but not well, thus asking for an estimate of repairs and if it worth repairing. After two weeks I called and person on the phone was rude and said that they would call me when they were done. After nearly five weeks, got a call and they said that they had looked at the truck on the ground and didn't think that it was worth it but offered to do an estimate (which was the original request). Asked them to do an estimate and they called (now longer than five weeks) and said that after taking it up on the lift, they still thought it was not worth it. I stopped by and paid (no actual estimate provided and bill indicated that they spent 15 minutes on it). I paid during the week since my friend with a trailer could only be there on the weekend. When we came to pick it up, the vehicle did not run, necessitating pushing it onto the trailer. They did not tell me that they had disabled it, just left the coil pack inside the vehicle. read more

Took my car in for state inspection was told it was in need of repair. I checked what they stated needed repaired and found nothing wrong. Scammers like most shops. I had been warned by several other people who had similar experiences with them. I always told my customers to take their car to another garage to get repairs if it gets rejected. That may keep them honest. read more

Easy to work with, will pick up car from you - but beware. I had no issues for the first year with basic work, then I needed a catalytic converter. $2000 repair and it failed after 4 months. He would not warranty it, said it was an oxygen sensor failure that caused it to fail. Took it to another shop and they said it wasn't even a Hyundai part, but a replacement and 1. should be warrantied, and 2. should not have cost that much. Don't use this shop read more

I've been taking my vehicles to McCoys for probably 7-8 years now. They are easy to work with, quick to respond, and have taken care of everything we've thrown at them. A lot of what we do with them is standard oil change and tire rotation kind of stuff, but at least twice now we've given them a completely dead vehicle that required some troubleshooting and creative thinking to diagnose. They have always come through for us, and never gouged us with high prices or charged us for things our vehicles didn't actually need. I trust them completely. read more

McCoy's put the wrong oil filter on my son's 2012 Ford Focus and the filter came off the engine. This resulted in the engine seizing and the car had to be junked. McCoy 's did not take any responsibility for the issue. It's disgusting that they would do this to a student living on his own at college. They may have had a good reputation but made an error in this repair and should have taken responsibility. Karma is a b**ch, I hope they get what they deserve. read more
