Good food, good service, cool decor. I had the Alice in (avocado) Toast, which had great flavors - sourdough bread, lemon ricotta whip, avocado, egg cloud - yum! Other had a breakfast skillet which was also delicious. It's not a huge place, but roomy enough; has a full bar. Would go again.

We showed up on a Wednesday around 1pm. It was empty so we were seated right away. This place is old but they have it decorated brightly and fun. They close early so the food is oriented towards the breakfast and brunch group. I had the chicken and waffles ,which was very good. The chicken was cooked nice and tender ,not dry at all. These fries have a coating of seasoning that makes you want a lot more than they give you. Im not a big French fry fan but these were good. The hamburger needed salt and pepper. My best description it was a flat taste. Even with the mayo and cheese it needed something in the meat. Overall it was good but needed a bit more added to their lunch menu.

Love this place. We come once a year and always try to hit up the Mad Hatter for lunch. My favorites are the NE clam chowder and lobster roll. Unfortunately, no more lobster roll. I had a the breakfast sandwich with bacon and egg, pretty darn good too

This was a great first stop! The structure is so beautiful both the front and back felt so much like Nola. The vibe was a little heightened at first and then they played more mellow brunch music. At first it felt like we were in a club it was so intense haha. The food was GREAT and we were both absolutely stuffed. I was so grateful that they had so many Gluten Free options and took Celiac seriously. I was a lot more comfortable when the waitress said that she didn't know but would confirm with the Chef for certain items I asked for. Not only did she check but she confirmed ingredients with me before placing the order. I can't wait to come back to sit up front this time.

    New summer hours! Take note!

Food - pretty tasty food! I ordered the grilled cheese with crab and the French fries and it didn't disappoint...see images - yummy and tasty! Service - they ask for patrons to wait to be seated and although I was standing there for quite sometime, once I was sat service was great! I'm pretty sure they only had one person for the front of the house so she was hostess, server, runner, drink maker, and manager so that's a lot for one person! She has amazing recommendations and a contagious smile!!! Ambiance - this is one of the cutest little cafes I have ever seen! They are on theme in every way possible - the purple walls, the bunnies everywhere, and the fun menu names! Oh and the mirrors! I do love a good mirror placement and they have it in spades...or is it hearts??? Would definitely stop in for another adventure...

    Courts Benedict. Fresh. Flavorful. Yum.

This is my first time here. I decided to check it out since they had a food truck at Pride...thank you for supporting our community. The food was amazing. I ordered the Courts Benedict and everything was fresh and flavorful. Thank you to the kitchen team. Plus, they serve Pepsi products...woohoo. The seating inside is kinda hodge-podge to match the theming. The bar is super uncomfortable because of the step at the base. Forcing you to lean while eating. The price for breakfast was about $25 with tip. Service. Hmmm. I worked in restaurants for 10 years. I get it. We all have off-days. My server had absolutely no energy. To quote Will and Grace: "theyreminded me of a sad clerk at Blockbuster". On the opposite, there's staff who've been in this industry waaay too long but their "f it" attitude and stories fit right in. So service is a wash. Location, signage and parking. I ended up in the Perdue parking lot and had to double back. The entrance is on the corner but the parking isn't obvious. Other notes. Full bar. Good spot to brunch. Add reservations for 11:45 I had to wait front for a good 5 minutes before anybody came up. After I ordered and I finally received my coffee which took about 5 minutes to even get coffee, I got up to go to the bathroom when I came back in less than a couple of minutes My table the coffee was all gone they had cleaned my table. The people the table beside me were complaining very loudly about not receiving their meal that they had ordered and they were there before me. My meal didn't even come out until 12:38 mind you I got there at 11:45. My coffee cup was refilled one time. I even had to ask two different people to get silverware . Very disappointed I was expecting so much more. I drove here just for this. I do feel that the portion size of this meal is rather small considering that it was a almost $20 meal .

Recently in the area and looking for a nice breakfast spot that had some interestingly tasty sounding food. This was the place !! The decor is great, not over the top, but definitely Alice in Wonderland, right down to the playing cards in the floor. There were three of us, All with our usual breakfast favorites. Avocado Toast, Eggs Benedict, and an omlette / skillet. We all got something we all loved by the end of the meal. Very clean, fresh fasting food. Presentation was nicely done. The Toast for the Avocado Toast was a bit tough, to cut primarily. May be the only issue we had. Great wait stuff as well!! Fun place,Good food, wish they weren't so for away!

The waitress was impeccable! Everyone in there was sweet & up beat. The restaurant is cute. They've got a fireplace to sit in front of as you wait & little cards on the floor, it's cute. The food was great! I highly recommend the Buffalo Mac and cheese & the dodo melt... I had the rodeo burger....it was good but it wasn't what I wanted.... Didn't hit that spot like I needed it to. I KNOW I should've gotten the pancakes Also the lemonade was watered down profusely. It was a waste. Don't get that. When I come back, it's pancakes and coffee flights for me!!!!!

The Garden & Toast (no bacon)

The food, service and the restaurant itself was lovely! The ambiance was vibrant and lively. I came here an almost 7-8 years ago and it's just as good as I remember!

George may not have slept here, but he may have stopped by for Sunday brunch on occasion during his Yorktown Campaign or his presidency. The Washington Hotel bears his name and it has been rehabilitated and maintained in colonial style to feel genuine and welcoming. When I walked in they were doing a bridal shower, so I grabbed a stool in the barroom near the back kitchen. Service was amenable despite working their tooshies off for the bridal party. I didn't mind waiting and having a break from the long drive home from Newport News. There were several ghosts accompanying me at the bar. The food was excellent. Veggie Omelet and Potato Hash were both farm to table fresh, and the coffee was brisk and hot. Worth the wait. The hotel was as much museum as bed & breakfast. Tons of charm without being gitchee. We started with the shrimp salad on toast points, and I had an outstanding espresso martini. The appetizer was tasty, although it was very creamy such that I could not visibly recognize the shrimp. For dinner, I ordered the seafood Alfredo, and my wife ordered the market-price "Lump Crabcake" entrée. The Alfredo was very good, although the scallops were bay scallops rather than sea scallops, and for the price I expected a little more seafood. Her entrée included vegetables, while I had to order mine separately as an additional side. The biggest disappointment was the crabcakes. Despite being promoted as "lump crabcake," they appeared to be mostly filler with finely shredded crab, with perhaps 15% lump crabmeat. The flavor was good, but not exceptional, and I found the name of the entrée misleading. I am accustomed to a lump crabcake being predominantly lump crab. For dessert, we shared the bread pudding, which seemed unsure whether it wanted to be bread pudding or apple pie. It was fine, but not especially memorable. Overall, we enjoyed the atmosphere, received excellent service, and thought much of the food was good to very good. However, the crabcakes were quite disappointing, especially given the description and market price. Our bill before tip came close to $150, which was a bit of a shock considering the quality and portions. Calvin and the espresso martini were definite highlights, but the crabcakes did not live up to expectations.
