When it's a Tuesday in December in Salisbury MD and you go to a place for lunch and you have to park on the street because the place is so packed, you know you've come to a good place! This is a local sub shop. No frills, nothing fancy. You come in, you can order eat in, or take out. No wait staff - you order at the counter and when it's ready they call your name. Today I happened upon the "12 Days of Christmas" special - Cheeseburger, fries, drink for $6.50 - and everybody was ordering it. I got there at 11:45, waited about 20 minutes for my order. The cheeseburger is thick and juicy. You can get whatever toppings you want on it. I've been here before and had their subs, during the rest of the year they run the standard $12. Hmmm...Let me just say this place has those confident hours. You know the hours of a place that has so much clientele and such a greaat reputation that they don't need to have long working hours???? Johnnys sub shop closes at 3pm. When I saw this, along with the 4 star rating on yelp all omg with a continuous floW of customers in the parking lot I was confident this would be a fulfilling and good coma imposed experience. So after spending $23 ordering the cheesesteak sub special, 2 chicken wings and 2 slices of Smith island pie I sat down to wait dreaming of how I would go home and indulge happily. The chicken wings had no flavor or seasoning, after drenching them in hot sauce I decided to throw them away to not waste my calories. The fries I ate on the ride home and although nothing special were nice and hot and ended up being the best part of my meal. Now for the cheesesteak although very cheesy how I like their Waac not enough steak which forced me to remove the top portion of the bread in order to have a somewhat tolerable ratio. As for the Oreo smith island cake it was dry and lacked sugar, the icing was the best part in which I threw the cake away and went to Market Street Inn for a drink and food for dinner. Sub was amazing with plenty of delicious steak and just the right amount of mayo, fries were crispy and they have vinegar waiting for you to really hook them up. My first review of Johnny's was a 5 star. I'm not sure if there was a different cook there that day or what, but the food was not great like the first time. When arriving the second time, it was a totally different experience. Only one person in the front knew what was going on. The young lady and the light skinned guy with the cold sores on his lip were clueless. The only person who knew what was going was the brownskinned black guy, he was very sharp. I ordered the fried chicken dinner, a burger, fries and a turkey club sandwich. For one it looks like the prices went up. Second, the light skinned guy at the register was completely clueless. When I ordered the chicken dinner, he told me they had Mac and Cheese, but after I was rung up, the cook yelled at him and said they don't even sell Mac and Cheese and never have, so I exchanged it for macaroni salad, which wasn't traditional Amish style, but more so Ranch (not good). So when my order was ready, they forgot the fries, so instead of just giving them to me or charging me for them. The young girl came up with a not so brilliant idea to try to refund my card and charge me all over again, which I said no to, because that would just cause a mess on my card and it was a dumb idea. So the food. The chicken was bad, not like the first time. The chicken the first time I went was crispy and juicy. This batch tasted like it was fried in burnt grease. The turkey club was bad and something that could have been thrown together at home with some lunch meat and loafed bread. The burger was ok and the fries were cold. This was like night and day, when comparing the two visits. The staff/ cooks that were there the first time, needs to be the only people working. read more

Called in an order for 2 scrapple and egg sandwiches. Arrived 20 minutes later to pay and pick up. After 10 minutes of waiting I was told phones orders aren't made until they have been paid for. Would have been nice to know that when I called them. Finally got my food after they wanted to argue with me when I asked for a refund because I was now late for work. And the place is always busy. But don't let "busy" fool you. They keep up. Service is fast, portions are generous, and the price is right. What I really love is the diversity of the clientele. Best burger i've ever had! When you stop by its a laundromat as well as a little food joint. Their fries are freshly made, burgers are freshly ground, and everything is made on the spot. Nothing is frozen. A burger, fries, and any size drink is only $6.99 everyday. There is no other hometown kinda place like this anywhere near Salisbury! It's the kind of place you would see on diners, drive-ins, and dives. It's a little hole in the wall that is easily missed and not many know about. Everyone is super friendly there as well. I was a loyal Jonny's guest till 5mins ago.......I really wanted some chilli so I figured I'd drive down to Jonny's! I walked in and saw the specials looked over the menu real quick just to make sure and then stepped up to order. Now there was maybe 3 groups of people waiting to order , when the heavy set older lady asked me what I would like , I speak fluently in English , I asked for the burger special with the chilli !!! She only asked what I wanted on it..so I asked for Lett and onion mustard and ketchup on my burger. Paid for my food tipped 20% and sat down to wait.....I was the last to get his food which was cool cause different things take different times....got my food and left. Got going down the street looked inside andf I had fries and a burger NO CHILLI....so I calmly turned around went in and asked if they charged me for chilli because I didn't get it ...immediately the same lady speaks over the guy I was speaking to saying she didn't hear nothing about chilli and pretty much summed it up I was shit out of luck ...the guy I was speaking to apologized ...I took it that I was shit out of luck and walked out!!!!!! So thanks I will always check to make sure the person doing their job is doing it right step by step from now on but I will never come back in Jonny's...which sucks I love their food but being treated as a lyer and tipping the person treating me that way and not fixing the problem all while dening any responsibly.... If I could give this place No Stars I would! Johnny's Sub and Sundae is a rip off! Apparently if you don't use the word "special" behind your order, they charge you double. Unbelievable! I'm by no means a cheap person, but I do not enjoy getting ripped off! When I have two guys sit next to me that order the same exact meal and pay half the price bc they knew to use the word "special", when it wasn't advertised anywhere. Unbelievable! Then when I brought this to the managers/owners attention, she told me pretty much too bad, and refused to make things right, and became confrontational. Besides getting ripped off with pricing, when you do get your sandwich it's all bread with no meat, RIP OFF across the board! The rolls were not good to start with and you could not even eat the sub the meat was clumped together on top everything was falling off.
