I came here for lunch one day and I have to just keep coming back. The diner is not like any Diner I've been to , it is beautiful, extremely clean and well taken care of for any place I've eaten. Went out for lunch to Sage. Sage is a comfortable diner on the S Salisbury Boulevard strip. My friend noticed today's special when we entered it was the Salmon Burger which came with fries, a pickle, and cokeslaw. Mary our spunky host made it sound delicious and so I ordered it. Food: As salmon burgers go it was delicious. The fries are average fries but as our waitress Rose explained everything is made fresh here aside from the pickles. I ordered coffee which had free refills and was delicious. My friend ordered the turkey club sandwich which looked amazing. The navy bean soup was delicious too and was seasoned with a hint of old bay and was tomato based was delicious with nice chunks if celery. A very homemade feel! We were seated immediately on a Friday evening, about an hour before closing, and were waited upon promptly. The food is typical diner fare and is of good quality. It's time someone tells the truth. I'm a local customer and have been here several times. Today, my wife and I had breakfast...let's just say...they can do way better than this. We arrived a little afternoon. They advertise breakfast all day. It was mediocre at best. I ordered three scrambled eggs, with bacon and a side of bacon with a side of pancakes. The eggs were not fully cooked, the pancakes were not made to order, nor was the bacon or potatoes. If you are going to serve leftovers, then make sure to heat them up well. We both agreed we would not be going back. This is why we drive an hour to Rehoboth, DE to get a decent breakfast. The owner or manager even asked how it was. I said ok, but the food should have been hotter. He just hung his head and walked away. This is why your food comes out underwhelming...this is the kind of attitude that oversees it all. Just a solid 4 star experience all the way around. The cheesesteak omlette was perfectly cooked! I substituted provolone for American cheese and it was a good move. The cheese was smooth, buttery and creamy with the steak having a good level of moisture and the eggs cooked perfectly. The personal touch of stockings hung with each of their employees' names added a down home feel. While the mopping and cleaning the floors may be necessary it probably is less necessary right beside me while I eat. I had enough of the bleach smell while visiting the hospital recently and didn't need it next to my meal. I guess I am picky like that! The employees need to learn to go to the side to have conversations about who is doing what or who needs to do whatever. I don't need to be in the know I swear! All around pleasant inexpensive diner. I have not ate at Sage on South Blvd for 12 years. They use to be a good choice for breakfast. Today my husband and I had breakfast at Sage. The service was slow and it was the worst food I have ever ate in my life. My husband's breakfast was also horrible. The waitress did apologize that she forgot us and did bring us new home fries but they were also tasteless. The eggs were so dry that they had no taste. My home fries and my husband's were dry with no taste. The potatoes tasted like they had an old rotten taste. The omelette my husband had was also tasteless. If you are just getting out of prison and have only had prison food for a few years then this is the place to go. My husband and I decided that the devil was just testing us to see if we could handle the bad decision of eating at this restaurant. This was money wasted but we decided this was a lesson learned that we would never go back in this lifetime. read more

Don't judge a book by its cover. While Sage could make some improvements to their exterior, it's in the interior where the magic happens. Sage brings to the table a true home feel. Most of the menu is home made and feels very fresh. Both the breakfast and lunch menus contain decent variety, lots of options to choose from. Prices are great, a real bang for your buck. Quality of the food is above average for me. MOST of the menu items are delicious while few stand out as pretty poor. The sausage for breakfast is pretty raw, cold, and bland. The steak is definitely frozen yet I still think the country fried steak is one of the best items on the menu. The juices are pricey for juice and no free refills on them. Other than those minor issues, sage is a nice small family eatery with plenty of options and great prices. read more

We came here to get breakfast. They have a lot of choices on their menu, a big breakfast menu and also a large lunch menu. We came during the transition of breakfast to lunch and looked at both menus. I liked that fries, soup, a pickle, and coleslaw came with the sandwiches especially for the price. Our server was an older woman, she came off very very rude.. but I don't think she meant to be rude so I didn't really mind it, I thought it was funny. She got overwhelmed very easily despite the fact that there were only a couple tables seated, I think she had one table other than ours. We asked her for a refill on coffee and for extra cream and sugar and she said "Ok slow down... I can't do everything at once". Lmao what. And then after my husband ordered, I was ordering, and as I was listing what I wanted on my sandwich, my husband remembered he forgot to add mayo to his, so he said that to her, and she put her finger up and said let me finish her order first. Lol. I got the chicken noodle soup, which tasted like it had come out of a can, it wasn't that good. I never got my fries, so I had to ask for it. I also never got the coleslaw or pickle, but I was full by the time my server came back anyway so I didn't bother asking. Overall, I liked my food and the menu. The Sage Diner was recommended to me by a local I trust. OOPS! It was a one of a kind place where many of the waitresses had tattoos and missing teeth. That's OK if the food is good, but this wasn't that kind of place. My "blueberry pancakes" came not with blueberries inside, but rather with a scoop of blueberry goo (like pie filling) on top. The scrambled eggs tasted like the butter-substitute they used on the grill. The service was slow, and got far slower after the church crowd arrived (I'm glad I didn't have to wait through that). You'd do better going to the major national 24-hour chain famous for it's breakfast ... and believe me, I'm not a fan of that place either. read more

The place was packed on a Sunday afternoon, which let us know that this place was worth trying. Very large menu with typical dinner food and much more, including several Greek items. Wait staff could not be any friendlier. Food was very good. We got a Philly Cheese Steak, Clam Strips, Fish and Chips, a Greek Spinich Pie, as well as Greek Salads and chicken soup. Food was served in a timely manner. We did not have any complaints about the quality and the server checked on us several times. Portions were large and we had enough leftoevers for dinner that evening. Only negatives would be the decor is certainly dated and in need of some upgrades. There was also a leak in the ceiling that was dripping onto the floor behind us making the floor dangerously slick and unbenonsed to us had been dripping onto my jacket that was sitting behind our booth. For those of you not from the mid-Atlantic region Scrapple is the low-rent cousin of Spam. The closest thing I have ever had to Scrapple is Haggis in Scotland. The three large hotcakes were presented hot as was the scrapple. Faux maple syrup and faux butter were served with the hot cakes. The coffee (endless cup) was hot but not as robust and bitter as I prefer. Sage Diner is pretty much your large serving, low priced diner-sort-of place. Do not come here if you are looking for fine dining as you'll be disappointed. My husband and I went here for breakfast, and the entire experience was "meh". They do a great job at getting people in and out, the food came out fast, and the server was very attentive. That being said, the food was very bland. My home fries and eggs were under seasoned and didn't taste as though nary a grain of salt had touched them. Perhaps this is desirable to their sodium restricted elderly clientele, but left my breakfast lacking in taste. Took a party of 11 for a relative's birthday. Called ahead and only gave 20 minutes notice. Upon arrival, a semi-private portion of the diner was ready for us. We were seated without the full party being present (which is rare for restaurants to do these days). As far as the food, all eleven people were pleased.
