Potato salad consisted of cubed potato pieces with chopped ingredients that were never really mixed with any type of dressing. (Mostly dry ). The potato and shrimp chowder contains mostly chunks of potato - taste was good. The cod was a frozen block that was barely cooked (very soft). Was there this past Sunday, we were the only black people at the outside bar. Ordered food, food runner comes out stops to the white couple pleasant. Comes to us I go I ordered that, I say oh the food was made different then before. The food runner looked at me body language was off, tosses my plate on the counter walks off mumbling something. My husband says hey what's the deal. He mouths screw off and walks off. I says something to the outside bartender, hey if he doesn't want to serve black folks go work at Market or Texas Roadhouse. I didn't let it go. The bartender says pay your tab and go, you are not going to talk about my employees like that. I go fine I don't want the order and I like how you take up for racist employee's . At our latest (Thursday 5pm) visit it got much too loud to hear companions and we had to resort to shouting for our server. We found this place on our way back to Virginia from NJ. We were greeted and seated straight away. The restaurant was clean. And spacious, including outdoor seating. Angel K was our server. She was friendly and helpful and always checked on us. There were three of us, we started with potato skins- so delicious and fresh. Then I had the chicken Philly with hot pepper relish (must have addition to this already tasty Sammy!). The guys had the French dip also tasty- they commented that the aus jus was awesome. I came to this casual dining establishment based on the recommendation of a colleague and I was not disappointed. I enjoyed a cup of cream of crab soup, which was pretty good. It's thick and tasty. Mine required a little bit of salt but overall I enjoyed it. I chose to build my own salad, opting for all of the veggies and the ranch dressing, it was also pretty good. The star of the show was the french fry appetizer seasoned with old bay. Old bay seasoning was barely noticeable but the french fries are hand cut and well worth your $5.99. My girlfriend loves the crabby fries and other crab stuff. Overall back street is pretty average for me. I enjoy going there occasionally but it's nothing special. I ordered a Bees Knees which was one of the B-Day drink specials and can appreciate a place that actually knows what one is as a lot of places I have to tell them what's in it. I ordered the prime rib dinner special which was AMAZING cooked to perfection, flavorful and a piping hot backed potato. Wonderful, Friendly Place! My husband and I loved our visit here on our way back from Ocean Beach. We were looking for something not touristy yet excellent and we found it. Service was excellent and the food was delicious! We had the Crab Dip appetizer which came with lightly toasted french bread, fantastic! My husband had The Four Horsemen Sliders which he really enjoyed. The Four Horsemen are a pulled pork slider, a roast beef one, shrimp salad and chicken salad. I had a burger which I got to choose beef or vegetarian, what bun, how cooked (rare - well done) and what I wanted on it, straight from the veggies through mustard, mayo, horseradish etc. Then when it arrived it was deconstructed allowing me to put on however much I wanted. What an idea! I loved it! It was also delicious. They had a full bar, although my husband and I both had a delicious citrus IPA. We will most definitely be going back! read more

The fries sucked and burnt, I ordered toppings for my burger and after time and time of requesting the missing toppings I still never received them. the girl that I asked told me she would get them with a smart remark under her breath and I never received them she just went to cleaning tables again. We ate lunch on the patio right after they partially reopened during covid. The patio is lovely. We shared an appetizer of crabby tots, which were very good and filling. We each got a salad. However, when my partners salad came, it had both onions and bacon on it, which he'd asked not to include. The server was apologetic and took it back. We asked that they just box the new salad as we were getting full anyway; once we got in the car, we checked and the "new" boxed salad had both onion and bacon on it. It appears that they attempted to remove the bacon but left a few stray pieces. Not eating pork is often religious and I was not happy they chose to handle it that way. Also, we did not blame the server for the initial error because things happen, but you should not bring a meal out a SECOND time and not check that it's actually correct. read more
