I'm a long time customer at The Deli at Pecan Square. The food is usually AWESOME! On May 25, 2023 I ordered an Italian hoagie. It was horrible. They're usually served in a large black take out container. This time was totally out of the ordinary. It was wrapped in paper, the order was wrong and it tasted HORRIBLE. I couldn't eat it. I called the Deli this morning to inquire and inform management of the situation. I was polite and asked to whom I was speaking. Deborah wouldn't identify herself until I told her my name. A little seasoning will go a loooooong way. My son is an avid French fry eater. He didn't finish his. They were soggy. Almost like they were cooked, then hung in the basket over the frier until plated - a obvious 'no-no' for kitchen staff. The Reuben looked like a grilled cheese!!! A Deli- a Reuben- no way they could mess that up. Maybe I was expecting to barely get it in my mouth like most Delis. I would have been embarrassed to serve it. This is our second visit. The first time I ordered a chicken salad sandwich. It did not have any taste. I thought "maybe it's an off day for them". No. It wasn't. I'm not sure they own any spices. The staff was kind. At breakfast time: few patrons, first two tables I would have chosen were dirty and/or sticky. Neither of the waitstaff knew if there was Half and Half available for the coffee instead of the artificial creamer set out on my table and neither of them came back to me with an answer. The food was barely edible - overcooked omelet and a brick of hash browns that I could barely cut with a knife and therefore left on the plate. This is one of those places that is easily overlooked, and that's a shame. The menu is extremely varied and the food is quite good. Their cream of crab soup is on point. One nice thing is that on the weekends, everyone's on the north side of town, so it's easy to get a table. You have to love the painted brick walls. They're existential, yet accessible! Went here after seeing a review on a local TV show. We went to lunch and it was after the rush. I had seen on the show a dish with macaroni and beef they called Goulash it was huge and very filling. I ended up taking about half home and it was about $12. Another dish they had on the show was one I've heard about as a local sweet item it is called Pretzel salad; I'd never had it. Very wacky sweet dish with crushed pretzels and maybe butter in the base, whipped cream as a center and red jello on top. I loved the stuff and am now crazy looking for it all over. We went here for the Sunday brunch buffet and were pleasantly surprised! My husband and I are Sunday breakfast people... but we sleep in. This presents a problem in Salisbury it seems. The lack of good breakfast options is depressing. Anyway... After internet searching for brunch options, I stumbled across this place and decided to try it. Our server was incredibly friendly and the place was doing a steady business. We both chose the brunch buffet which seemed to be half breakfast, half supper options. We went for the breakfast food, but did get tempted by the fried flounder as well. Everything was delicious, and the $10 price was more than reasonable. Ive always been a fan and dragged my fiance here quite a few times but this last visit i was given my cheesesteak wrap with none of the condiments i asked for waited 30 min (my fiance finished her entire meal) to be checked on. Had to ask to have it remade instead of having it corrected on a cold cheese steak. Waited quite a while for the replacement which i got to go with a check. Heard nothing from any management owners etc. It should have been taken off the bill plain and simple but discounted would have been nice considering i came to eat with my fiance and ended up watching her finish a meal and leave. I have tried this place so many times and each time disappointed. I have even tried both breakfast and lunch and still not the best. DO. NOT. GET. Anything with bacon if you love crispy bacon. I had never heard of this place before and I've been in Salisbury my entire life. I have been missing out for so many years! Not only was the food amazing but the owner came out and talked to us personally to ask about our experience and to wish us a happy belated birthday! The staff even sang to us and gave us a candle in our dessert. I've heard nothing but great things about their cheesesteaks from the group I dined in with and I had the shrimp salad wrap which was extremely delicious. You can really taste the love in their food. I have eaten in once and ordered take out twice from this restaurant. Food is always exceptional and the service is even better. When I last ordered take out I was planning to pick up the order at 11:30 a.m. When I got there the young man at the register told me it was almost ready but since some of the items were hot they wanted to make sure they stayed warm until I got there just in case I was late. I only waited about 2 minutes. In the meantime he got my fountain sodas for me (even though it was self-serve). The sandwiches were so good that my brother and I had to split them so we could each enjoy both sandwiches. Never disappoints!!!!! read more

I was dining here a few weeks ago, the food was alright but I experienced something extremely wrong and unprofessional by the man I believe was the owner. He was screaming at an employee in a very irrational and unnecessary way, almost violently. As someone who has been in the industry for years, there is absolutely no reason to ever treat an employee this way, especially one who seeming did nothing wrong. When food arrived total was $125 over the original calculated price. Additional food items were added to the order, that I definitely did not order. Super sleazy move bro. There was no itemized receipt with actual prices. The additional food consisted of bbq beef and a fruit tray, WITH ROTTEN STRAWBERRIES. I called to get delivery, the girl said they weren't delivering tonight so I called in a pick-up order. They didn't make my fries so I had to wait, the staff was unprofessional at the front. Then I get my food home, the burger didn't have what I asked for on it, what remained of the mozzarella sticks was a pile of goo and empty tubes of breading. $5 for 4 empty tubes of breading is irritating to me, perhaps making mozzarella sticks takes more culinary skill than I imagine but the fact they put them in the styrofoam container and sent it out the door says alot about the place. First, I well say the place is nice and clean. Unfortunately for them, they sit in a shopping plaza that has challenging ingress and egress. Also, the plaza offers very little in the way of stores that would generate a lot of foot traffic. Now onto the what's really important, food and service. The evening I went in, the place was not busy. One table of elderly talkers, another female, and the waitress. The young waitress was cordial, but lacked energy. I ordered one of their foot long subs, and Italian cold cut. Almost every sub on their menu, hot or cold, is just under $10 for a 12 inch sub. As 12 inch subs go, on the high side in my opinion. When my sub came out, it had shaved ham on the top, and some salami on the bottom. In between were all the fixings I requested, tomatoes, onions, pickles, olives etc. It also had a few slices of provolone. As Italian cold cut subs go, this was more of a cold cut sub than an Italian cold cut. There was nothing special about this sub to justify the $10 price tag. That night I was deciding between going to McDonalds for something quick to eat, but decided to give my money to a local business. With tip, my bill for the unspectacular sub and diet soda came to $15. I could have gone to Subway and gotten a better sub on remarkable, fresh baked bread for half that money. Other than the cleanliness of this restaurant, there is nothing remarkable about the place. Most places have a few signature plates they hang their hat on, like incredible pizzas, buffalo wings, or a spectacular cheese steak subs. The Deli at Pecan Square seems to be serving unremarkable food in a uninviting location, but in a very large and clean restaurant. read more
