Would highly recommend the curry moco, great portion size and taste and it's a unique mix of chicken katsu and loco moco. Matcha latte was also pretty good, wanted to try the dirty matcha but they were already out of espresso around 10:30 on a Friday morning.

Cute spot! There's a parking garage nearby a short walk away, so it's pretty convenient. I got the Classic sandwich. Crazy amount of bread (a bit dry tbh) but the egg was soft and fluffy, and the spicy aoili sauce was so yummy!

    Shroom sandwich was YUM!

Needed to find a breakfast spot that was open early. We got there a little after they opened and there were already people waiting for their orders. Person taking orders was not very friendly but not rude either. Maybe just didn't want to be there. ‍ I ordered the Shrooms breakfast sandwich and really enjoyed it. It was very flavorful and filling. I had to mash it down to eat it. My husband was disappointed with the Spam sandwich. The Spam looked gray and wasn't cooked well. The look on his face said it all. The Dirty Tots were stale and disappointing.

Busy Saturday morning at this breakfast spot known for their egg brioche sandwiches, but honestly it was worth the wait. I tried the shrooms and the BAE sandwiches along with a side of tots, and everything came out really satisfying. The scrambled eggs were incredible -- super soft, creamy, and flavorful. The brioche buns were just as good, pillowy soft with a really nice sauce that ties everything together. The place is super clean, but it does get hectic since it's order first then seat yourself, so it can feel a little messy and chaotic finding a spot. I also went back later for a strawberry matcha latte and that was surprisingly good -- not overly sweet, and the matcha tasted high quality. Overall, I'd definitely recommend it. It felt better than Eggslut in LA in my opinion, and I'd come back again for sure.

Fun place -- and very busy and popular. We had to wait quite a while for our order. Everything is made fresh. Standing room only and happily right before our order was ready we scored a table. Looks like lots of UC students enjoying breakfast and we did too. Very fluffy and yummy scrambled eggs on a lovely brioche roll with cheese, sautéed onion and spicy aioli. Yum. Definitely recommend a stop here if you're looking for breakfast in Santa Cruz.

I'm not a huge breakfast sandwich fan, but mannnn does Mad Yolks change my ways. I can't think of anything better than a juicy, crunchy Taiwanese chicken sandwich with soft buttery buns and arugula as the vegetable option in the morning. They really nail the flavor with the garlic aioli and tender chicken. Their Mango Jasmine Tea is also quite unique and I find myself wanting to go here just for this. It has an icey texture that is almost a smoothie, but not quite. Strong mango flavor and balances well with the jasmine. I'd skip on their matchas though as it can be grainy and bland when not paired with their fruit purees. I will say though that they can be a little inconsistent when they are busy. Their chicken can be a bit dry when faced in their weekend rush, so it depends when you go. It also took a while for me to get my drink, so I'm not sure if my drink ticket got lost as people after me received theirs well beforehand. Keep in mind that this place is located in the heart of Downtown Santa Cruz. I'd recommend parking in the garage next to Urban Outfitters and avoid the parking po po.

The food here is really good! My friends and I stopped by while we were in town for work, and it ended up being a great choice before heading out. We all ordered something different, and everything felt worth the price. The ambiance was lively and upbeat--very peppy and welcoming, with a lot of energy in the space. Even though it was busy, the service was quick and kept things moving smoothly. Seating is pretty limited though, so you definitely have to keep an eye out or be ready to grab a spot when one opens up. There are also a few shops across the street, which makes it a nice area to walk around a bit before or after your meal. We tried some drinks too--like the matcha--which we probably wouldn't order again, but the food itself was still delicious, just slightly on the pricier side. Overall, it's a solid spot for a quick bite, and I wouldn't mind coming back!

Came by Mad Yolks in downtown Santa Cruz and had a really good experience. It was pretty busy and fast-paced, but the food came out quickly. We ordered a mix of sandwiches and sides: the Spam sandwich, Mad Chick sandwich, Breakfast Burger, Brioche Melt, plus the Potato Balls and Dirty Tots, and a Simple Green tea juice. The Dirty Tots were a standout for me, they had a curry-like flavor that made them really unique and tasty. The Potato Balls were also really good, crispy on the outside and a great starter to share. All of the sandwiches were solid, everything tasted fresh and satisfying. I especially enjoyed my drink, the Simple Green, which was refreshing and balanced out the heavier food. The location is great right in downtown, and the interior is bright, cute, and modern. Definitely a fun spot to grab brunch or a quick bite. Overall, a solid stop if you're in Santa Cruz and craving a good egg sandwich.

I came in first thing the other day to try Mad Yolk's viral breakfast sandwiches. I did takeout, but I did enjoy hanging out for a bit in this fun cafe. I like the decor and the Asian-inspired decor. The service here is very good and you get your sandwiches pretty quickly. First, I'm a huge fan of Japanese curry, so I had to try their tater tots smothered in it with an egg on top. Their Japanese curry is super flavorful has such a great umami flavor to it. I ordered the Mad Chick, which has a very big piece of fried chicken on it along with an egg, arugula, pickled cabbage, and their spicy aioli. It's served on a soft hamburger bun. When I tell you that that fried chicken on there is everything, I mean it. This is the reason to go to this place. As a whole, every element on that sandwich is fantastic, but that fried chicken is it. I also tried their Classic sandwich, which had scrambled eggs , caramelized onions and I added avocado to it. It was very tasty, but was missing a crunchy element. It was all very soft but still good!

Went on a Tuesday afternoon in March! No crowd, the service was delightful. Spam Breakfast sandwich- absolutely tasty and of course I got drippy yolk everywhere. Dirty Tots were different, they weee delicious with the Japanese curry. The green Jasmine tea was delightful- half sweet only. Love how the lights look like yolks!

I frequent this Mad Yolks and am never dissapointed. It does seem to tend to get overcrowded on weekends, but it's for good reason because the food is excellent. The drinks are all amazing, and the sandwiches are killer, I wish they would bring back the potato balls. It can be on the pricier side for a fast food-esque place, and it does take a while especially when busy, but if you're in santa cruz you need to go

This place is so amazing!! Currently on a roadtrip and when researching places to eat in Santa Cruz Mad Yolks was definitely the most recommended. And it's not overhyped at all!! I went here two days in a row with my partner and we got to try a couple different sandwiches. My fav was definitely the mad chick! Also i want to give a big shout out to the service here! Everyone is so friendly and the cashier was so sweet!! I believe her name is Annie! Next time i'm back in Santa Cruz this place will be a must to stop by!!

Scrumptious!! I had had egg type sandwiches but I didn't enjoy them as much as I did with Mad Yolks. We ordered the dirty tots but asked for the curry sauce to be on the side. That item tasted great together but I don't know how it would be if it was smothered in, I probably suggest to go light on it. I was thinking after ordering, I should have asked for them to make it crispy but there was no need to because they made them perfectly. The bae and shrooms were finished there but I only ate half of the mad chick and finished the rest the next day which was still very delicious. The orange juice was refreshing but the strawberry matcha latte seemed to be missing flavor for my taste. The line never really ended and there were people in and out but we did come on a Saturday afternoon so I would believe the weekends would always have a line. Parking had street but we ended up in the parking garage around the corner of this location. I totally would come back but I'm not in the area to do so but I did see more locations so I will soon go I liked the decor all around, the bathroom is located in the back near the yolked sign yellow wall.

Do they accept cash? I know some stores are card only 😭

The time I went they did and that was not too long ago.

Can I get one of the sandwiches without the egg? Maybe put the fried egg on the side? I've heard the fried chicken is very good, but I personally don't care for eggs on my burger or fried chicken.

I don't like fried egg. They have no problems accommodating my requests.

We got there about 10 am and had a bit of a wait with people continuously arriving so it's clearly popular. You write your name down and request inside or out or first available. It was a bit chilly so we opted for inside. We were seated after about 20 minutes. It's pretty small inside so the addition of the picnic tables outside is a plus. We all ordered different items, sausage and eggs, bacon and eggs and blueberry pancakes. The egg breakfasts came with a side of either toast, a pumpkin muffin or a cinnamon roll. We ordered a muffin and a roll. The food arrived fairly quickly which was good because after a 2 hour drive we were ready to grub. The egg breakfasts were pretty average in taste and portion. The blueberry pancakes however were good a good size and came with 3. I did think the pumpkin muffin was fire and my bf said the cinnamon roll was excellent so maybe it's their baked goods that are part of what makes this place so popular? I didn't think the amount of food we got was that much of a value as it was a $60 breakfast. Other downsides for me was the parking situation which is common in SC. We found a spot about 2 blocks away. Also, the bathroom is outside and in dire need of a makeover. Lastly, they don't take cards. It's cash or check only. WTH? I haven't seen a restaurant take checks since I was a kid so that's been a minute, lol. Overall I can't really see myself returning other than to get the pumpkin muffin or cinnamon roll. Maybe I just need to try something different.
