I went to this beautiful bakery yesterday with my mom! We moved to the ferguson/florissant area back in 2024! but we're still finding new places every once in awhile! As we drove in the area we saw this cute little bakery called Made by Lia! It was so warm on the inside and the workers made it feel very welcoming due to the intimacy when you first walk in from the "Hello's" along with the fact you can see the process and love that goes through each treat, due to the open area in the back where you can see them baking every item! They have so many menu items! I tried the St. Louie Lemon Cake, and the Honey Cinnamon speciality latte! And the rest of the treats that were on display looked just as yummy! I had to resist buying more than one thing (they all looked so good) I definitely will be back to Knit/Crochet while I sip and indulge in a yummy coffee and snack. read more

I also love that i was able to actually sit back and enjoy the experience of my coffee being made. I tried the Java hazelnut coffee and it was so good. I also thought the cups were really cute with the name printed on them i thought that was a nice little detail. I'd also like to add it's not just coffee they had teas, milk lemonade, apple juice a little something for everyone. Also I love me some plants I loved how they had real plants In the shop also tiny plants on each table was sooo cute. They had a bunch of different pastries you could choose from along with merch that you could shop while waiting for your order I tried the espresso doughnut and it was good, but it was more cakey but they let me know that before I ordered. My daughter got the gooey butter cake and enjoyed it. Another part that i liked was being able to see the pastries getting made off to the side. I even connected with someone else who enjoys visiting different coffee shops, which made the experience a lot better. Overall i would 100% visit made by Made by Lia again I also was able to grab my son a gift card from them for his birthday next week I think he will love it. read more

So excited to be back in the area and stop by Made by Lia! Busy on a Saturday morning, but we had to be somewhere else and were taking to go. It felt cheery inside; we weren't ready and let others go in front of us so we could decide on goodies. Staff was friendly and helpful when we had decided. We got a huge blueberry lemon scone, a gooey butter cake slice, and a large chocolate chip cookie. I also got a brown sugar latte made with coconut milk, a first-time milk choice for me. I will probably go with Almond milk next time. The scone was delicious! My husband enjoyed his cookie and gooey butter cake. It will always be a stop when we are in the area. read more

I wanted to try local and decided to try this bakery since it's near my neighborhood. This is a happening spot. Plenty of foot traffic for sure. It looks like they have their regulars as well. Parking lot is available but it's definitely a trap. Very congested and limited and tight. Once you're in prayers to the lord above on getting out without having a bumper to bumper accident. Park accordingly. Small limited outside seating area on a first come first serve arrival. Walking in , inside seating is available. Plenty of staff but the line and service were very slow. From standing in line to order taking to getting latte was a good 15/20 min. I ordered the honey cinnamon latte -meh , a St. Louie gooey cake and a chocolate chip cookie, which both were delicious. Holy cow! I found this place on Happy Cow and was blown away by their vegan cinnamon sugar donut. They had another option but I would have had to wait. Wish they had more vegan options besides 2 donuts, but the one I had was so good I am definitely going back. Will try coffee next time too. Outside city limits in Florissant, but this craft bakery is worth the mention. This is woman-owned and operated by Lia, who even wrote her own cookbook. The coffee is delicious, but the from-scratch pastries and treats are unreal! Two words: Focaccia Fridays! Fridays only, they bake single-serve focaccia. It's a perfect cloud of herby, salty dough. The taste was to die for. I have found my baker for beautiful and amazing flavored cakes. I also order the macaroons to match the cake. I have tried macaroons all over including Ladurée. As a 2024 bride, I had a hard time finding a place to accommodate my very small, simple, vintage cake request within a reasonable budget. Lia and her team were all for it! They were an absolute pleasure to work with through three rounds of cake testing and our special request of combing the lemon cake with raspberry filling, which is not a typical offering. Every time I dropped in to pick up cake samples which were always ready within a day or two, I snagged a delish coffee and other treat. Very cute woman owned and operated bakery in Old Florissant. It's welcoming, bright and the staff is friendly. I enjoyed my Java hazelnut coffee and the St. Louis classic, gooey butter cake. I don't get this way very often, so it was a nice impromptu visit on a lovely Saturday morning. Found a hidden Gem in Florissant. Let start off by saying, this is a cute, quaint bakery located in historic Florissant. I love the modern, clean look. The inside was very clean and the smells from all the baked goodies were delightful. There are some tables for inside seating and seating outside for the warmer weather. The staff were very friendly, and welcoming. They deserve tips. They were brining out fresh baked good as i was ordering. I tried the cherry Strudel. It was so delicious. When I go out of town, I make it a mission to find a coffee shop like Made by Lia. I arrived less than 30min from opening, and the line was almost out of the door! The shop is BEAUTIFUL, and while waiting in line, I tried to search the web for the same pendant lights for my own house, ha! Anyway. The pastry case included items both savory and sweet. I've known about this place for a while...can't believe I'm just now making it to their establishment. I tried several baked items and all were delicious. The scones were the perfect combo of crispy edges and moist inside. Sometimes these can be too tough all around so I was hesitant to try but it came recommended from my mom who frequents this place. The birthday cake latte wasn't too sweet as one might assume - but it did have too many sprinkles so I'll ask to have them left off next time. My kids enjoyed a donut and cherry danish. As a self proclaimed queen of gift giving, I am always on the lookout for unique and fun gifts during the holiday season. My mother absolutely loves homemade Christmas cookies, but honestly, who has the time? I recently started following this business on Instagram. A recent post featured boxes of homemade cookies for the holidays. The boxes were offered in small and large sizes with a variety of 12 different cookies. I ordered 6 small and one large box. The team was fantastic from calling to place my order, to a fast easy pick up. The cookies were arranged and packaged beautifully. These gifts went over so well. From teacher gifts to hostess gifts everyone was impressed and said the cookies were delicious!! The shop is absolutely adorable, cozy and bright. There is outdoor seating when the weather is nice. They offer counter service for a variety of baked goods. I went with a cherry pop tart and a Southwest breakfast pocket. Both were outstanding!! I heard of this bakery opening about 4 years ago and was excited to learn that the owner had won a baking competition and desired to use her winnings to open 'Made. By Lia' in Old Town Florissant. Let's start with the coffee: they have many many types of coffee from drip to lattes and their seasonal flavors are unique, and relatable. What do I mean? Sure, there will be a pumpkin option in the fall but expect it to have a little swing. My favorite and first love is the pistachio latte. Wow ... the Matcha also has my heart because it doesn't taste so much like grass. Pastries: my favorite is the hot pocket. Now, they have a Tuscan hot pocket with tomato, feta, egg, and I believe spinach or something. The flavors are powerful and potent. It's not overpowering and allows you to taste the buttery, flaky (yet soft) crunch of the pastry. WHOA! It melts in your mouth while offering savory tones from the Tuscan-inspired pairings inside. Yum, yum, yum! The team there is just as sweet as the Vegan cinnamon sugar donut. They are helpful, and patient and knowledgeable and as quick as they can be, given the hustle and bustle of the crowd itching to place their order! Other items to try: Lemon poppyseed donut, bacon or veggie quiche, any streudels, every beverage, and whatever seasonal item they have. Made. By Lia has done it right. Over the past two months I have checked in with this place to see the vegan options. There's always only two options: one sugar cinnamon donut and one chocolate espresso donut. Chocolate Espresso - this donut is also gluten-free. It was soft but very dense. A clear sign that someone hasn't perfected their GF recipe. It's edible, but I wouldn't order it again. Cinnamon Sugar - this vegan donut has gluten. This flavor isn't one I would choose if there were other options, but being that there were only two vegan options, I had to at least try it. It was actually extremely tasty. Sweet, but not too sweet, soft, and moist. An excellent donut. Their vegan donuts aren't similar to a cake or yeast donut in taste. I don't like their packaging. They stick each donut in a little white paper bag (see photos), so if the donut has any icing half of it ends up stuck to the paper bag. Who thought that was a good idea? For vegetarians, they had a veggie quiche. As a vegan, I have no reason to return unless they offer more vegan options or at least switch up the flavors. read more

But how can you go wrong with a small business that has macarons? I wish I had time to order more to try, but the staff was friendly and the goods answered the mail. Hidden gem in downtown Florissant! The bakery itself is really nice - modern & super cute inside. The chocolate chip cookie was amazing! One of the best I've ever had. It was huge too. Really chocolatey, rich, & sweet with the perfect balance of really soft cookie with slight crisp to it. Also tasted like it had a slight oatmeak or nut flavor associated with it. I also got a piece of the chocolate chip gooey butter cake. This was also really amazing & unique. Sometimes gooey butter cake can be dry but theirs is so moist, you almost need a fork. It had a moist oreo cookie base & the gooey butter on top was so fluffy & moist it almost tasted like cheesecake. It had chocolate chips in it too. We don't live close to the bakery at all, but the desserts were so good, it might be worth a special trip in the future! read more

All of the pastries were wonderful. I had the gluten free because of allergy. The donut was very fudgy but I would say it could have been a bit sweeter. The scone however was literally perfect! The perfect amount of lemon flavor with a beautiful butteriness and fresh blueberry throughout, honestly amazing. You'd never know it was gluten free! My brother said that his pastries were great as well especially the cheddar and chive scone. He wanted to get a second one before we left lol he loved it! How to describe this cafe in three words? Delicious, simple, and quaint. The colors are warm and inviting, making the customer to perhaps stay awhile. The employees I interacted with, as well as Lia herself, were exceptionally kind and showed great customer service. I only have a pumpkin spice chai which was a little strong with the spice, but all in all, it was delightful, and could be summed up as 'autumn in a cup'. The pastries didn't make their ways towards me, but it was tempting however, especially since I could see them being freshly made in the bakery. Love the decor; simple and classic style. I liked that you could see back into the kitchen to see the masters at work :) I also liked the community promotion with the Florissant merchandise they sell. It was so refreshing to be greeted with such welcoming service; very friendly and helpful. The employees were actually smiling and seemed genuinely glad you were there. While visiting STL for a month in February I was able to come to Made by Lia twice. Highly recommend coming early in the day! And be prepared to wait in line, although it moved fast both times I visited. The second time I remembered to redeem my Kickstarter reward (one pastry). I wasn't expecting it to be a huge deal but it would have been nice to have at least been thanked for supporting the Kickstarter campaign. My favorite pastries were the chive & cheddar scone. One of the times I waited about 10 minutes for a fresh scone. Thankfully I was able to come the Saturday before Valentine's Day when they had a lot of special items just for the holidays. I literally found Made. by Lia - by a simple Google search and so glad I did! I was on the hunt for a vegan cupcake - giving it as a bday surprise - and sure enough I found a location! Here in St. Louis it can be quite difficult to find vegan options so I feel like this location was heaven sent. I called right before they closed and luckily, I could score a vegan cupcake - strawberry on top of that! The woman who answered was very friendly and helpful - the same exact energy once I walked in the door. The transaction was super fast and another employee heard it was a gift and she gave me a candle. How sweet and thoughtful! She helped me design & create the exact cake (without knowing my daughter) my daughter had chose on Pinterest! The cake was heart shaped with white icing & lavender piping. Food: 3 Stars Service: 4 Stars I've now made 4 visits, really hoping that each visit would change my opinion. Unfortunately, it hasn't and thus I'm making my mark with the unpopular 3 stars. Let me start off by saying that the vibe of the cafe/bakery is incredibly bright and airy and makes me want to order lattes all day and sit by the window as I people watch. I love all of the carefully thought out fine details from the planters outside to their NoCo merch. And while her baked goods look elegant and almost too pretty to eat, some of the flavors just fell flat for me. I barely tasted any lemon from her lemon poppyseed donut and the cake pops, while moist, lacked flavor. I did, however, enjoy her gooey butter cake which wasn't overly decadent and absolutely fell in love with her cherry pop tart. The pastry was flakey and buttery and while I'm not a huge fan of cherries, the cherry filling almost had me make my husband turn around so I could grab a couple of more for later.
