I really wanted the Philly cheese steak, but they were out of the beef and I wasn't feeling chicken. My son ordered the breakfast sandwich on a bagel with ham. There's no pic because he inhaled it and asked when I was going back. I settled for the gyro and was glad I did. There was so much meat on it, I'll add to a salad for another meal! The flavor was like nothing I've tasted before...so delicious! I'll definitely go back to try other sandwiches and make the rest of my family try it. It looks like an old 7-11 and you aren't eating inside, but don't let the looks deter you. A piece of advice I got...order online or call in the order so you get the freshest ingredients.

I will say the gyro is fantastic and they don't skip out on the veggies and sauce. It all comes on a pita which I don't really prefer for a gyro. I think a naan that is a bit thicker would be a perfect fit for this gyro. Besides that, I really like the reuben too. It's stacked high and comes with a nice toasted marble rye (I love a marbled rye!). Recently, I have been getting the gyro salad and I just love that there is a mountain of veggies AND a good amount of the gyro meat. The folks working there are always kind, the food is consistent and they are fast and clean.

First, I love that this is a locally family owned and run Busines. We tried the Zach and the Meatball sandwich. The Zach was packed with turkey, cheese and pesto. The Meatball sandwich is honestly one of the Top 10 Meatball sandwiches in STL! It truly highlights the famous Vitale Sauce/Gravy recipe! One bit and you can feel the love and the time and effort it takes to simmer all day. Definitely will return soon!!

One Saturday I took my kids to Kirkwood park and decided to stop in at Vitale's on the way home. I'm so glad that I did! The shop isn't anything fancy, there is a counter inside and then a handful of tables outside. It is primarily a to go joint which is pretty standard for delis. It gives off the vibe that you should just stroll up from the neighborhood and grab something to eat, chat for a while with other locals, and then head home. It has a nice, no frills vibe that I really enjoyed. The sandwiches are pretty typical for an Italian Deli with most of them featuring variations of lunchmeat. I'm always a sucker for meatball sandwiches though so that is what I got with a side of chips. It was outstanding. The meatballs were GIANT and they were the right texture. It was large enough that I had to split it across two meals. The owner was really nice when I was inside and talked to both of my kids. My kids were so well behaved they convinced me to buy them a cannoli on the way out the door. Over this shop fills its niche well, the shop was clean, the staff was friendly, and the food was good. I'll be stopping back in again in the near future.

The baseline experience…read morehere is holding strong--we were greeted by a young, attentive staff at the counter, and it was easy to grab a comfortable booth. It remains a very reliable fast-casual option. New Menu Items Tried: * Whipped Feta Dip (4.25/5): Absolutely scrumptious. The balance of the savory feta with the drizzle of honey makes this incredibly addictive. It was genuinely hard to stop eating. * Hummus (3.5/5): A solid option with decent flavor. Given my previous experience with the pita here, I opted for fresh veggies for dipping, which worked out great. However, I personally prefer a creamier, more tahini-forward hummus, and it could have benefited from a slightly heavier drizzle of olive oil on top. * Spicy Harissa Chicken Gyro (3.5/5): A bit of a mixed bag. While they were generous with the sauce, the actual spice level was surprisingly low and it lacked that robust harissa punch. * Quirk: I requested the roasted potatoes instead of chips. The potatoes were executed very well, but the plate oddly still arrived with a side of chips. Hard to complain about extra food, but plating was a bit confusing! Bottom Line Update: Still a highly convenient, clean, and consistent spot for Mediterranean.
