If you want to step back in time check out SugarBot Sweet Shop. It is a soda, ice cream, candy, and dessert shop that looks like a mid-20th century store. There's an antique stereo playing big band music. The employees are even dressed in period clothing as they serve you. There is lots of menu items to choose from, literally like a kid in a candy store. After some taste testing and deliberating, I decided to go with a waffle sundae, with cinnamon snickerdoodle ice cream, and raspberry sauce. You may think this combo sounds weird, but you'd be wrong. :) The mini waffle was freshly made. The ice cream was cinnamon flavored with snickerdoodle cookies mixed in. The raspberry topping was real fruit purée. Put that all together and you have a great combination and delicious dessert. I worked with Jackie, the owner of Sugarbot, to make cookies for my son's 10th birthday party. The theme is The Bad Guys (the movie). I knew design could be tough because of copyright limitations, etc. The design was so great and she did SUCH an amazing job!! The cookies & icing are absolutely delicious too. Very unhappy with my experience. I placed an order for 48 cake pops & in the notes section I specifically said I would like half Vanilla & half Chocolate. I even said I'd there is a problem please call me. Well I never got a call saying it couldn't be done. Now I am aware they couldn't do custom birthday cake pops & was never told I could only get what showed on the picture. Again I wasn't contacted after my order was placed. After getting home finding my order wasn't what I bought I called & Jackie brushed me off said she would call me back after she got orders out for the day. No call nothing! 6 days late I get a computer generated email saying my tip only has been refunded still No call. I email saying how I wasn't happy with experience & gave proof of my notes on what I asked for & the reply I get back is they just might not be a good fit for me. I was out done when I read that. What kind of company talks to someone like that. I will never go there again & would not recommend them. They don't care if your satisfied or not! read more

I totally love this little shop!! St. Charles really needs more businesses like this, so I am totally glad to see them pop up just down the road from me. Smallish building, but good things come in small packages!! Sooo many delicious flavors and scents packed into this place! And I adore the colors they picked for the exterior and interior. It definitely grabs your eye as you are driving down 5th street. When I see the turquoise house, I can almost smell the yummies!!! :-3 My favorite things are their cookies of course, but also the cupcakes. AHH so hard to pick a favorite, really. They are both made with nectar of the gods...I mean....sugar. Mmmm. There is limited seating on the inside, but if I recall correctly, she mentioned they are planning to get a permit for outdoor patio seating, but that it is taking a while. They are also planning to add more signage out front, but the city is being a bum about it, which is totally lame, because I saw the plans for painting their logo on the bricks and it looks AWESOME!!! Anyhoo, like I said, limited seating, so might be best to grab your goodies and run, but if you get there and it's not too busy, worth sitting down and savoring your cookies, brownies, or other sugary treats. They've also got oldskool style jars of 'penny candy' if you know what I mean, sold by individual piece rather than weight. I love the choco race cars as they remind me of my childhood... my mom used to take me to a place when I was a kid and get me similar treats. Oh, and they do have drinks here. I believe I saw a pot of coffee brewing the last time I stopped in, and they do have water, and bottled cane sugar sodas like root beer. No ginger ale (yet?!) but lots of other flavorful options to choose from. Did I mention the treats here are incredibly affordable? My eyes bugged out a little bit, in a good way... maybe because I was used to shopping for baked goods in the city for a while, where the norm is to pay $10 for bloody cupcake, LOL. Kudos to them for keeping things affordable and yet very high quality in flavor!! The owners have put SO much work into restoring this lovely historic building & building their bakery! My first experience with SugarBot. Called and ordered 6 chocolate cupcakes for hubby's birthday, some with chocolate frosting, some with vanilla. Picked them up and was amazed at how heavy 6 cupcakes could be! (I'm not a regular bakery customer. I remember tiny cupcakes from childhood.) They looked and smelled sinful! All through dinner, I was looking forward to treating my hubby to a luscious cupcake with chocolate frosting--his favorite. After dinner, choc/choc for the birthday man and choc/vanilla for my college kid. (I can't eat wheat so none for me.) The anticipation was high. Unfortunately, the disappointment was almost as high. Hubby's cupcake was 55% frosting, 45% cake. The frosting was heavy buttercream, I guess. Good, but impossible for anyone but the most die hard sugar fiend to finish. The chocolate cake was moist and good, but nothing exceptional. The vanilla frosting tasted odd, reminiscent of the tub you can buy at the store. Plus, that cupcake was about 65% frosting. Ick. The other 4 cupcakes didn't improve our impression. We also got homemade marshmallows. They were grainy. I've made them myself and if I can do it, they should be able to. Obviously, we'll try someplace else for the next big event. read more

I have tried several different baked goods from SugarBot Sweet Shop in the last week & everything is very good! The cupcakes are so moist & the buttercream frosting is so freaking good! There are 5 types of cookies for sale and I highly suggest the oatmeal raisin all day every day. AND she makes her own marshmallows for her rice krispy treats! Which are also freaking delicious! The shop is adorable inside & out...I was told they recently renovated the building and have done a very good job! So basically if you are looking for super delicious treats that you always want to eat but are too lazy to make (like me) the this is the bakery to visit! read more

Terrible customer service that makes no sense. Tried to place an order for deliver via courier. Called on Tuesday, they are closed, left a voicemail. No call back on Wednesday. Called back after their posted hours of 9am on Wednesday to place order for same day delivery. Woman on phone informed me "all same day orders must be placed by 8am" (this information is no where on the website). Also, this doesn't make any sense if they don't open until 9am. She told me I could have ordered online on Tuesday; however, they only have delivery for 3 "zones" available on the site. So that was also not an option. I gave her the zone I was trying to deliver to, she told me that zone is only available for next day. I'm literally trying to give you money and you have no options. Maybe figure this out before you offer this as a service? read more

I have tried many things at SugarBot and haven't been disappointed yet. I've had the cake pops, brownies, gooey butter, drop cookies, salted caramels, and marshmallows. They make everything from scratch. The ingredients are quality and it shows. Taste is amazing. Sweetest staff. I hope to return when I am back in town. We ordered sugar cookie bites and gooey bites for a small wedding dinner/reception. I worked with Jackie and she was great. We had to change our plan around for our wedding day due to the Covid 19 pandemic so our order was last minute. I placed the order like 2 or 2.5 weeks ahead of time. But everything worked out. Jackie was wonderful to work with. She asked for the theme and colors of the wedding. She made the sugar cookie match our travel theme and in our colors. Both desserts were delicious and the guests made a lot of comments about how good they were. They were ready on time and were super easy to pick (They mentioned they usually do delivery but had to stop because of the pandemic). Got two cupcakes for my sisters birthday and they were very yummy! The shop is very colorful and welcoming and all of the desserts are nicely displayed and easy to pick from! This place is adorable! Staff were super friendly, when you walk in it smells AMAZING, and the treats were soooo good! I tried the pie square (pecan). It's a little slice of heaven and I love pecan pie! My 3 year old tried the cake pops (bunny and chick for Easter). They were so adorable I wish I would have captured a pic before she devoured them.
