We were in from out of town, celebrating our anniversary, and so had looked for well reviewed locations for this kind of special occasion. Madeleine's came up, and to say it did not disappoint would be an understatement. Everything about it far exceeded expectations. The service was excellent, cordial and attentive, but at no point rushing us through our dining experience. I am really at a loss for adjectives where the food is concerned. It was simply superb and unique. I am told they rotate their menu, and quite honestly I would want to come back at every new iteration to experience it. The portions were great, very satisfying. My second visit to Madeleine's! We made our reservation through Open Table. Our table was set up for our anniversary with a sign, fake rose petals, and mini hearts. Such a great addition and it made us feel special! We previously have tried to deconstructed crag rangoon (highly recommend), but went with the charcuterie board last night. Both are great options for starters. As for dinner, we both chose Madeleines NY strip (see picture). Cooked to perfection, and it tasted amazing too! We chose to get the mashed potatoes and parmesan brussel sprouts for sides. The mashed potatoes were perfect! Brussels were just ok for me, but cooked well! Madeleine's Dad can cook. Probably. That is, I'm not totally sure that Mad's Dad was anywhere near the kitchen. But. The escargot was tasty even though the shells were missing and portions were scant. :-/ -1 The Asian Dumplings were deep-fried. We weren't expecting that. Wonton wraps. Maybe I should have expected that. Portions were barely enough to fill us when you think that we ordered $72 of food and and $28 in wine. -1 The Chop Salad was fine. Eleven leaves of lettuce and some yummy bacon. It was tasty! The Salmon Tabouleh was very tasty. (Finally we were full.) We we're attempting for small plates and it didn't turn out that way. Okay... I'm a travel nurse currently in Evansville for an assignment and I've tried quite a few restaurants so far ... this takes the number 1 spot. This atmosphere is so romantic and intimate. All the details are simply perfection. The staff is warm and friendly and the food is SUPERB. I took pictures of everything we had so make sure to take a look at them. The ONLY disappointment was an outdated bourbon menu that had something listed on it we were excited to try but it turns out they didn't have it. Live music on the back patio was a nice addition to the great food at Madeline's. However, be prepared to have some patience and DO NOT order an Irish Coffee (or anything not on the drink menu) without being very clear what goes in it. While the Emerald Heritage site says the drink is whisky, coffee, sugar and double cream (we visited the Foynes Pub in 2013) as does the American original kickoff Buena Vista Cafe, you will be scolded that Irish coffee is just whiskey in coffee. It's one thing for a customer to not know something and ask for a dish to be altered- it's something else to be admonished that what you asked for isn't the correct rendition of the food/beverage item. Seems to me that if I want a Florentine dish without spinach or a chicken patty on my hamburger instead of beef- it shouldn't cause a problem. read more

Loved this place. We sat outside and the vibe was very relaxing. The curry appetizer is delicious. Cocktails were on point. I ordered a lemon drop martini and asked the bartender to make a cherry limeade vodka (so good). If you like craft cocktails they have a bartender for you. The waitress was super sweet and helpful. So much to like about this place. Quaint, well decorated, friendly service. I feel like we may have selected wrong menu wise. Everything we had was well flavored. Tasty. Only complaint was we wish we had more protein with our meal. The beef stroganoff was noodle and mushroom heavy, with not quite enough filet. The lobster Mac had lobster, but it was sparse. The Brussel sprouts hash had more potato when I wanted (or expected). Our meal was a 3.5, but I give it a 4 for the ambiance and benefit of doubt (still think we ordered wrong). read more

My wife reserved a table for myself and her for new years even dinner tonight. She was called at 1:01pm during the work day and could not answer the call as she was on CODE at the hospital as a physician. She called back as early as she could and by 2:38 the restaurant had cancelled the reservation and given the table away. When I called to get more information the GM Charles told me that they are under just as much pressure at the restaurant as she is at the hospital and it is not up to them to wait. They were calling to confirm an order for a prefixed menu which was not requested at time of booking. My initial issue is with the approach to calling once and less than two hours later cancelling a reservation on such a significant holiday just to protect the bottom line regardless of the customer. My bigger concern is the lack of understanding and appreciation for healthcare workers with the statements made that what they do is just as hectic, time consuming, and that they are under just as much pressure running a restaurant. I wanted to share this experience to show how unreasonable this manager is, and to say under the current management health care workers are not respected or appreciated. In addition unless you can return a call any time Of day within 1hr 27m you might as well not make reservations at the restaurant, as they will cancel them just to have full confidence every seat stays full all night. We were normal patrons of this restaurant for several years. Now they have fully lost our business, my businesses business, and any of my friends business/businesses business. This is a true 5-star review!! I'm very selective in giving these and the experience must be stellar before considering a rating of this magnitude! That being said, my mother and I decided to try Madeleine's based upon Yelp reviews. We were easily able to make reservations for 2 with a phone call. Madeleine's is located on a corner lot - keep your eyes open since it is easily missed; we had to turn around because we passed it; it looks like the homes in that neighborhood. Our waitress, Naomi, greeted us and seated us at a nice table. Looking around the restaurant, the decor and atmosphere is excellent. Naomi reviewed the drink menu, took our drink orders and once delivered, answered our questions about the appetizers. She also shared with us that she had made a berry butter that day which she would bring us with our bread (in addition to the garlic honey butter that was already waiting on the table). We ordered the crab cakes for an appetizer ($15) which were served beautifully. The flavor was fantastic! I ordered the Cotelette de Porc which was a 2-ish inch pork chop topped with peach and sage chutney, glazed brussels sprouts and carrot sweet potato mash ($40). Any magnificent word I could use to describe the deliciousness of this dish would just not be good enough. It was the very best pork chop I and my mother had ever tasted. If I could only order one thing here again, it would be this dish. Mom ordered the black truffle filet which was topped with black truffle demiglace and was served with smoked paprika polenta and green beans ($55). For the price, the flavor was a bit lacking but it was good - certainly could not hold a candle to the pork chop. We topped off our meals with the limoncello cake ($9) and we were glad we did! As with all of the dishes, this finisher was served just as visually appealing as the rest of the presentations! The cake was fabulous with a light lemon flavor with the creamiest lemon frosting. The frosting was a whipped cream frosting and not too sweet and the chef had placed it beautifully on a plate with a combination of kiwi and lemon glaze sprinkled with black-colored sugar crystals. It was amazing! In all, with drinks, our bill came to just over $140 but we both agreed that it was worth every penny. Everything was perfect! Wrap-up: hands down, this was a 5-star experience and a place which should seriously be considered when going out for a special evening! Fine dining experience with Chihuly looking glass pieces on railings and pendants. Soft lighting on main floor. Very narrow and limited seating. All tables with linens and tablecloths and fresh flowers. Charles "The Peach" was our fab and knowledgeable server. He was exceptional with his wine skills. I started out with the crab stuffed mushrooms appetizer. It was very good. I had the salmon is my entrée. For the portions, the price was pretty high $36 for salmon but it was very good. They substituted sauce that came with it for a really good creamy wine dill sauce. Charles then referred us to a local speakeasy bar that we ended up walking to. I have been to this restaurant several times over the past 8 years and I would normally rate this as 4.5 stars. Last night's experience left me sad. It appears that there was another function underway in the wine cellar and they dis not have enough staff to cook and serve orders. Our waiter was also the bar tender. This is a management failure - it took us one hour to get our food! Secondly, while I have usually relished the menu, the menu yesterday evening was fairly average. The food itself was great; however, the choices were limited. Lastly, the wine list. Ordered a bottle from the menu and was told that it was out of stock. Again, management failure. Conducting an inventory of available wines before you open and crossing out what is not available is pretty easy to accomplish. Service, as always, was impeccable. They don't have that many vegetarian options which was kind of disappointing. Also the few vegetarian options that we did try were not that great. Potato au gratin is supposed to be thinly sliced potatoes but it was more like cubes boiled potatoes baked with cheese. Nowhere close to the real potato au gratin. Even the cocktails were kinda okish. Giving it two stars because the service was good. Had the wonderful opportunity to attend a private party in Madeleine's Wine Cellar - so mind you, this review is based on that, and not the dining service in the restaurant. Having said that, I am very willing and excited to return for a typical dining experience. We were served a 5 course meal consisting of varied cheeses and grapes, salad with bread, an appetizer of "potstickers" and Asian hot beef (that's not what it was called), the main course, and a dessert of flourless chocolate cake and cheesecake. My main course meal was absolutely wonderful - Truffle, Spinach & Butternut Squash Ravioli - not my go-to type entree, but it was screaming my name. Very well done and the flavor and creaminess of the sauce was spot on! My husband ordered a New York Strip, and although it was not cooked as he had ordered it, I give a shout-out to our server, Brian...he asked those that ordered steaks to cut them open to confirm that they were cooked correctly and he was immediately able to tell that my husbands was not cooked the way he preferred. The hubs chose to eat it and not waste it and didn't complain at all about the flavor, so I believe he was happy. Kudos to Brian, our server, who was very professional and spot on when it came to service etiquette and always having the glasses full. He made the night. Know before you go: if they have the Lobster Mac on the menu, I highly recommend it! The cellar is an absolutely beautiful atmosphere for a private party and I would highly recommend it! read more

Upstairs has a homey feel w one enclosed dining room (glass doors) off the hallway and a larger area at the end of the hallway that is appropriate for 8-20. Im told a wine cellar meal (basement) is also possible. Service: prompt, not excessive Price: higher than many but I felt decent value. Food: unique dishes with good presentation and flavor. Divine. Judy that one word. Perfect, no. But "art" never is. I travel extensively and entertain clients at some of the highest $ restaurants. Madeleine's was as good as...if not better ...than ANY restaurant ANY where. Which is good, given my guest was a world renowned physician who's lived in Philly, NYC and now some chic place in South Florida! ‍ First, the first course, we opted for the Brussel Sprouts, but asked for an adaptation since he keeps Kosher. Said adaptation was essentially a rewrite of the recipe. Normally the dish is cooked with bacon ...the server didn't blink an eye, and the dish was promptly served. While I'm sure it's fantastic cooked in bacon fat and served with crumbled bacon, this version was tasty. Though I would have liked a bit more "char". We also had this fantastic spring salad with berries, goat cheese and nuts. The homemade dressing was perfectly tart and the colorful, mix of flavors was exceptional. I ordered the rib eye because I wanted left overs. and they're known for their steaks. I was not disappointed. My goodness, 20 oz is a LOT of meat?! Another diner and I noshed until we were stuffed and I still brought home more than half!! My mouth salivates just thinking about all that yummy goodness. I asked for the steak to be charred outside and medium inside ...rarely do chefs get my order right. Madeleine's nailed it!! Also the house made seasoning was scrumptious but not over powering. We were too full for desert but I would be remiss if I didn't mention the French Martini ~ ohhhhhh it was goooooooood and the glass of Brown Estate Zin was perfect with my steak. Wish would I change? Better offering for Cab's by the glass. Joel Gott is sorta pedestrian. The bread was ok. Not bad, but not at par with everything else.
