On the evening of August 28, 2019, I experienced pain after biting down on popcorn. I could feel…read morethat my tooth had been cracked. I knew that I needed to see my dentist as soon as possible. I called Copper Mine Dental in Green Valley where I have been a patient for several years on the morning of August 29, 2019, and spoke to Peggy, who is always helpful and courteous. I explained my need to see the dentist as an emergency, especially with the long Labor Day weekend approaching. Peggy understood my situation and made an appointment for me to see Dr.Rene Laos at 2:40pm. I had never met Dr. Laos so I conducted a background check on Dr. Laos through the Arizona Board of Dental Examiners, and found that his license was active, there were no patient complaints filed against Dr. Laos, and no actions had been taken against his license by the Dental Board. Peggy, the office staff, and Dr. Laos's assistants were compassionate in their treatment of me knowing that I was in pain. Dr. Laos introduced himself to me. He asked me if I preferred to be called by a shorter name or nickname. He reviewed the X-rays, examined my teeth, and determined that my tooth was severely fractured, and if I had the time he would treat me immediately even though it was late in the day, and I could see that he, and the assistants were very busy assisting other patients. Dr. Laos went over the X-rays with me, and described the treatment that I needed to relieve the pain that I was experiencing. From the start to finish of treating me Dr. Laos was telling me what he was doing at the time, and would ask how I was doing. As I was leaving, Dr. Laos shook my hand, called me by name and gave me verbal instructions to follow until I would see him again. He also told me call him if I had any complications or questions. My first time experience with Dr. Laos was outstanding, from his initial introduction to saying goodbye at the end of my treatment. Dr. Laos manages to be about the business of treatment while being personable and comforting at the same time. Just the right balance I look for in a dentist.

However, his preventative maintenance program has not been as good. Recently my #2 molar suddenly almost completely disintegrated from an internal cavity that had been festering for years. Regretfully, after years of dental hygiene, numerous repairs, semi-annual complete checks of my dental condition, and a great number of full mouth X-rays, all failed to discover the decay that could have been repaired inexpensively early on. I have to now spend thousands of dollars to have the tooth removed and an implant. At Dr. Neish's recommendation, I have changed to a new dentist. John Bashaw

I received a bill for unknown services and called the Green Valley office. Spoke to a nasty woman…read morenamed Lisa. I told her I had no idea of what the bill was for and she said is was for the difference between what insurance covers and I owe. Very, very rude and as a result, after about 14 years of seeing them, I have cancelled any future appointments with this office. I never see the same detist nor do I want to put up with any crap from staff.

12/24 Appt: Dental, Poor, Admin staff POOR! Dentist was evasive on care for my Alzheimer wife…read morebecause I didn't bring Med Pwr of Atty the first visit. Yet told the admin staff when making that first appointment I could bring it if needed. Dentist was rude since I sat in to witness wife's exam and statements made to her. Dentist asked my wife, "is it okay if 'HE!' is here?" Rudely, in front of me. I then told the dentist, "I always come to witness because our experience with the medical community here in Green Valley has been to 'upsell' my wife on treatments, tests, etc., that are not warranted based on current tests and evidence today. We even discovered 'PILL MILL' physicians, obviously taking advantage of senior's to get more medicare $$$ out of their patients." You can guess how well that went over with the dentist as I watched her basically bite back any kind of response. Dentist TODAY: 6/4/2025 Tried to make an appointment for my wife's extraction they recommended. Was advised they would have to call back, Oral surgeon has to review and Oral surgeon has no scheduled appointments for the whole month of June at their Green Valley location I was told. Three hours later, 'no' call back, I called them @ 1:35pm and asked that X-Rays be sent to our 'new' dentist that can see my wife and her painful toothache Monday 6/9. They said I have to come sign a release for them to be sent to the new dentist. I said okay and asked how late they are there?, said there to 3pm. I got there at 1:55pm and they only had the release ready for 'me' to sign. I kept quiet and signed etc. I then said I also need my wife's to sign, 'and before she could get it out of her mouth I said "and HERE IS MY WIFE's MEDICAL POWER OF ATTORNEY AS WELL AS PERMISSION FOR HIPPA RELEASE TO ME HER SPOUSE!" Funny!!! It shut-up the 9 month community college admin tech that believed she had me, . But that was her attitude and it was another face on the very first visit 12/24, but the same 'poor' attitude. PLUS-PLUS!!! I got there at 1:55pm..., on the phone she said they would be there until 3pm. ON THEIR FRONT WINDOW, IT SAYS THEY RETURN FROM LUNCH AT ' 1:00pm ', but when I got there at 1:55pm, THEY HAD LOCKED THE DOOR or NEVER UNLOCKED IT AFTER THEIR LUNCH. As a former business owner and manager of several business's, NO WALK IN TRAFFIC COULD COME IN TO DO BUSNIESS!!! PLUS THEY HAD TURNED OFF ALL THE LIGHTS IN THE CUSTOMER AREA AND FRONT DESK AREA 'MAKING IT APPEAR CLOSED' ESPECIALLY WITH A LOCKED BUSINESS DOOR!!! Wow, the owner's need to really re-think the operation of this satellite dentist office. My wife and I have both been to Med School, which included managing a professional practice 'AND THIS PLACE AIN'T IT'
