i've been with this office six years they canceled my cleaning appointment because they said they didn't have pre-authorization even though I had proof that the procedures were covered the office manager refused to send out a pre-authorization because she used my words against me, when I said that I planned on changing to a different office. These people had a "working" lunch and locked their patients out of the office in 102° heat while the dentist was on vacation. I was also told that they expected payment upfront for the cleaning because they didn't have pre-authorization they did not offer me a payment plan. I made an appt to see the Periodontist Dr Poidmore but when i called to confirm my appt i was told i would be seeing their regular dentist not the Periodontist. I explained my appt had been made to see the Periodontist not their in house regular dentist. She said it was their policy for patients to see the regular dentist then IF he decided you needed to see the specialist then he would refer you. I canceled . My son and I were new in this area. Found Gentle Dental. thought it would be a good place to go. What a MISTAKE. !!! what they were charging for cleaning adding additional costs for everything. not cleaning too and bottom teeth at the same time. to Charge So Much MORE. Glinda at the front desk is very rude to me. I do the scheduling and driving for my adult children at times and she refuses to acknowledge me and she only wants to do business with them. Horrible. My pockets were 3mm deeper at this practice than the one i went to previously. They jammed the probe like they enjoyed inflicting pain. They took way too many x-rays, that were supposedly good for 5 years. They closed and refuse to send me my records and x-rays. They sent me to a Horrible periodontist,Susan Sharp that charged me for 6 teeth when she only did 4. None of my roots were covered with gum graft, as intended. They are shisters! read more

I enjoy coming here to get my teeth cleaned. I have Torus bone in my mouth and it hurt to get X-rays. My dental hygienist Taylor, was great! She took the time to make sure I was comfortable and would take the x-ray super fast so I wouldn't be in pain for long. She is also super gentle fast and efficient! I think my cleaning was done in 15 min! I loved that because I also have TMJ. so keeping my jaw open for long periods hurts. But I do recommend coming here for the experience. The doctor was kind and helpful and didn't push any extra treatments which made me feel like I was a human being not a cash coin. Went in as a first time patient for an appointment this morning and will not be coming back. I had some issues with my insurance info, so I had to wait a while to get it sorted out. While I was waiting, the 2 front desk ladies started talking badly about the patient that was just sent back to be seen & said she didn't have to come back. After a while the older front desk lady looked up my insurance info in a literal minute (something she could've done half an hour sooner) just to tell me they accept my insurance but I can go somewhere else instead. These front desk ladies are rude for absolutely no reason and know nothing about basic customer service. They obviously don't care about keeping or gaining patients. read more

I honestly do not have words to explain how incredible the staff are in the Irvington office, everyone from the front desk was very welcoming & helpful when it came to discussing costs. Marco and Lori were so sweet and walked me through the entire process as I am very very anxious when it comes to seeing the dentist. Doctor Ung was very through and gave me a detailed care plan and was very attentive to how I was feeling and took his time making sure I was okay. First time at this office as a new patient couldn't have gone smoother. Scheduled my appointment over the phone very easy with some personal info. Arrived at the office and was greeted by the lady's at the front desk ready to help me check in. Got taken back to do my X-rays by the Dental assistant who was very careful and helpful then the dentist came in to finish up explaining the rest of the process and answer any more questions I had. Dr Ung left at 11:15a in the middle of my appointment to go to an early lunch. I had to wait 1hr 45min for him to come back and finish! I was moved to 3 different rooms because of broken equipment. Less than 2 months later I had to go to another dentist for pain in my fillings! They're constantly trying to talk you into extra procedures/braces/surgery that you don't need. I've seen 5 other dentists and none of them recommended the crazy stuff Gentle Dental tries to pressure you into. They ran the bill through insurance and charged me $200 on the spot. Perfectly fine. Then sent a surprise bill for more after the appointment. They doubled the number of fillings actually placed and sent a bigger bill to my insurance. I said I absolutely DO NOT want another appointment and 2 days later they emailed me they set up an appt without my permission. read more

I had a 10:30 appointment for oral surgery with Dr. Poidemore. I arrived a few minutes early. After waiting about 15 minutes, a woman came in and checked in for her appointment with Dr. Poidemore. I was sitting just a few feet from the check-in desk so could hear every word. She was told she would be getting a full set of X-Rays and then Dr. Poidemore would consult with her about potential treatment. Having done this exact same thing a few months ago, I know exactly how long that would take. She waited about 5 minutes before being brought in. So I know roughly when Dr. Poidemore will be consulting with her. After another 5 minutes or so, a gentleman walks in; he is there to consult with Dr. Poidemore about his options for getting some implant$$$. He takes a seat. I wait another 5 minutes, it is now 30 minutes after my appointment start time. I ask the front desk what the deal is, why am I waiting while others have appointments scheduled during what is supposed to be the middle of my oral surgery. I'm told "they are cleaning the room, you don't want to be in a dirty room, do you? After another 5-10 minutes I am brought in. An assistant puts on topical and says the Dr. will be in shortly to 'numb me up'. I just had the other side of my mouth done a month ago so I know how long this should take. I wait. And wait. Then I can clearly hear the Dr. consulting with the gentleman in a nearby room about implants. Over an hour after my 10:30 appointment time, I get up in the chair, the assistant comes in and I complain. She says the Dr. has 'consultations' and 'surgeries'. I point out that she physically cannot do both at the same time. I rescheduled and left. Gentle Dentle and Dr. Poidemore knew full well that I would be sitting and waiting for over an hour so she could try to get a couple new patients. It is incredibly rude and unprofessional to schedule two potential new patients right in the middle of when my oral surgery was supposed to be. I left work early to get to this appointment. Now I am supposed to wait another 2 months for the new appointment and hope the same thing doesn't happen again. You guys want reviews, here you have one. read more

went to them to get my last 2 teeth on the bottom pulled and to get a partial. well they pulled the teeth talked me into a bone graph (not needed) never scheduled a follow up appointment to check the work they did was actually told that if I was in the area to stop in and they would check it I don't know of another dental office that says anything like that. I explained to the office staff that I have stomach issues already and not being to chew my food or eat the right foods was not good for me and ask if they could put a rush on this and was told NO every dentist office I have been to has made sure I had my teeth in less than a week not this place does not care that my health is at risk. They were supposed to call me if my partial was in never received a call still waiting for partial been a month never had a dentist office take this long. Office staff is nice but unreliabl. Going to pick up my impressions and send them to the dental lab here in Tucson. Now was told not going to be in until later dental tech going to bring it in but don't know when. Done with this place horrible. Go somewhere else if you need dentures or partials. read more

Incompetent, not well organized, ineffective communication. Can't vouch for the actual dental service quality, as we never got that far. We finally got approved for a new insurance, and we got a letter stating that my daughter's assigned dentist was David Ung at this location. I called and made the appointment, spent like 15 minutes going through the registration process, filled out the paperwork, got several reminders, then show up on my one day off just to be told that they don't actually take that insurance after all but we can keep the appointment and just pay cash out of pocket instead. At any point in the process, they could have told me that they don't accept that insurance so I could make an appointment somewhere else for that day instead of now needing to take time off from work to do this because of their incompetence. If you go, verify at least four times beforehand that they accept your insurance since apparently 3 times wasn't enough... read more

I made an appointment for a teeth cleaning. These folks said I needed x-rays, but they didn't take my insurance (Humana Medicare Advantage) so I paid out-of-pocket. Then they told me that I needed a "deep cleaning and scaling" which I couldn't afford, so I asked what insurance they did accept, and they told me Aetna. So I scheduled my deep cleaning for the following month and then switched my Medicare Advantage Plan to Aetna. When I arrived on time for my appointment and presented my new insurance card, they told me that they couldn't verify that Aetna would cover my deep cleaning, so I left the office. I was so angry that I called Aetna's customer service before I left the parking lot, and Aetna's customer service rep assured me that my plan would cover the dental cleaning. So I went back inside the office and had the receptionist speak directly to the guy on my phone, and they then agreed to do my cleaning. I asked them what the problem had been in the first place, and they said they hadn't been sure that Aetna would cover those particular "codes." Of course they couldn't be bothered checking for themselves...They would rather have a patient waste time showing up for an appointment! Then they informed me that they could start my deep cleaning but the hygienist might have to leave to treat another patient in a different room before the cleaning was done, because they are short-staffed. As it turned out, the hygienist was able to do the entire cleaning, because it took only 40 minutes! I'm in my seventies and have been around the block enough times to know that a routine teeth cleaning takes from 45 minutes to an hour, and I could tell that the hygienist didn't do any extra care that would not be included in a basic teeth cleaning...I can only conclude that they call it a "deep cleaning and scaling" so they can bill the insurance more! When I was leaving, they handed me an appointment card for the following month, saying I needed to come back for a "consultation." I had never heard of such a thing but I thought whatever. Then on the morning of the scheduled consultation, a receptionist called me to say that they would need to reschedule my "cleaning" because the hygienist wasn't available. I told her that I didn't need a cleaning because they had cleaned my teeth just the previous month, and that the appointment was only for a consultation so I didn't understand the need for a hygienist to be present. She replied, "Okay, I'll just cancel." I then asked her why I had been scheduled to come in for a consultation in the first place, and she hung up on me! In my opinion, the staff at Gentle Dental is rude, impersonal, and dishonest. I understand that no one works for free, but this office cares ONLY about the money and not about their patients. I'm looking for another dental office for my next appointment, but I will never return to Gentle Dental! read more

I finally had dental insurance after several years and this was one of the in network providers. I was told by them that my teeth were in terrible shape many on the verge of breaking and I needed 6 crowns, possible root canals, periodontal surgery to reshape bone and deep cleaning. $5000 worth of work after insurance. They refused to do anything less. I should have known better than to go to a chain store dentist. It took me 2 months to get in to the dentist my bf uses but worth the wait. My teeth are in great shape, I do need 1 crown which is what I expected because I have a very old filling that's been bothering me some. I don't need any bone reshaping and I don't need a deep cleaning, just a regular cleaning. I think all these chain store outfits get a directive from corporate to say there's much more work than what really needs to be done. Run away from Gentle Dental as fast as you can. It was much cheaper and less painful for me to go to an honest out of network provider. read more
