I felt like they cared and were so friendly. Gilbert was also so kind and great at what he does too! The office personnel were very kind and cared about my issue and getting me in as fast as possible. First and foremost, I was handed paperwork to sign after I was administered nitrous oxide. This is completely unethical and potentially illegal. No patient should be expected to make informed decisions or sign consent forms while under the influence of sedatives. Secondly, the flipper/partial they provided is poorly made, ill-fitting, and constantly falls out of my mouth -- making it virtually useless. Although they claim to have adjusted it, I explained it still did not fit properly, only to be told to "give it more time" or blamed for the poor fit. This has caused me embarrassment, discomfort, and added stress that should never accompany dental care. To make matters worse, I am still receiving confusing and inconsistent billing information more than a year after the procedure. Charges appear without explanation, and communication is vague and dismissive at best. No transparency, no accountability. The first bill I received, $199, I was told that it was submitted to my insurance company and they would not cover the charges. I reached out to my insurance company who explained they never received a statement from Houghton Dental, ends up Houghton Dental sent it to the incorrect address. Now that the $199 has been paid, I'm getting a bill a YEAR LATER for $741.80. I expected professional care and instead received a rushed, disorganized, and careless experience that has left me frustrated, financially impacted, and without the proper dental solution I paid for. Avoid this office if you value your health, your time, and your peace of mind.

I was really surprised and scared to see the negativity so I was prepping myself to face some rude admin staff and planning on how to respond. I get there, was greeted and checked in with no issues or signs of disrespect. My hygienist remembered talking about my work a year ago and I thought that was really awesome since they see so many people. She got me in and out in 30 mins. She provided recommendations on things to try to address my needs and was overall positive I'm not really sure where the negative experiences come from but I felt the need to give them some credit. I do know getting an appointment is challenging but I feel that is the state of our healthcare.

Third day same thing but the difference with the third day was she left all alone and came back when lunch was going to start and said: "Grab your lunch let's go have a chat". She sat me down and said: "I don't think you are catching it on enough", "I haven't even taught you the tip of the iceberg". She fired me on the spot. Keep in mind that I was left alone for hours every day when I was working there. They don't know how to train their employees and don't know how to treat people like human beings. Basically asking you to work like a robot with no instruction. I would be surprised if this business is still in business for another three years!!! TERRIBLE!!! TERRIBLE!!! TERRIBLE!!! Don't work here!!! I imagine being a patient is terrible too for how they treat their employees!!! Honestly don't be a patient here either they really cut corners!!!

In Scottsdale and Phoenix and everywhere else I've lived. I've never had a dental office or doctor refuse to just file the secondary insurance and make you pay what Wen insurance covers only... My dentist in Scottsdale NEVER did that. She made my life harder. It was more work for her, so she didn't want to do it. So I went in and talked to her face-to-face and she said it's something they experimenting with and not to worry about it they would file it for my husband. I told her that paying out-of-pocket isn't ideal when you have double insurance. I mean 30 days later you get paid. But she said they would work it out this time and when my husband came in, she went behind my back and charged him. Not what we talked about!! And I personally don't like being lied to my face. So then they filed the secondary insurance and I had to wait 30 days and monitor it. Just one more thing I have to keep up with... That I shouldn't have to... Once I saw that it was paid, I waited 10 more days without hearing anything from them so I sent an email and told them that I saw that thet had been paid and I would come by and pick up the payment. Again, more work for me to monitor and now ask when they're going to pay me? She said 7 to 10 days... Well, 10 days of nothing. I mean, she demanded payment from my husband before they would treat him, so why should they sit on my money? So they replied to the email and said it would be 7 to 10 days. And I responded back. I would come pick it up that day. They could just cut me a check. It had already been 7 to 10 days, and after all they made my husband pay the day he went in. And they created all this extra work and stress for me... She doesn't want to do her job. And she doesn't want to make it easier on the customer. She even told me it was harder for her... So then I assume that she tells the dentist that I am a problem and they send me a letter saying they're going to discontinue us as customers. Well, good riddance. If the doctor doesn't want to hear the other side of the story and wants to hear this mouthy woman in the office. Go for it. So this really isn't a surprise. But it is quite disappointing. I mean how freaking hard is it to just file the secondary insurance? But they'd rather lose customers. So just sharing our story. Good luck if you go here. Because she's not very friendly and she doesn't want to do her job. But the dentist themselves were great, but apparently are listening to one side of the story from a lazy office person who doesn't want to help the customer. Goodbye. I'm sure I'll find another dentist office that will gladly do their job and not make life hard harder on me.

I let them know we were not comfortable with full sedation and they terminated his care because we don't agree with their treatment plan. My son was overstimulated on his last visit. There was a child screaming in the other room and that set the tone for his experience. So, now he's basically traumatized. It wasn't an issue of pain, it was an issue of impatience and lack of care of a child who is overstimulated from the kid screaming and all the stuff going on in his mouth. It felt like a slap in the face, being told they couldn't see him anymore. It took me a few hours to process. This response to a parent being legitimately concerned, she even stated that it's a hard decision to make, is appalling and unprofessional. There are thousands of kids who need special care and who, for medical reasons, are unable to be fully sedated. Our final experience here has been disappointing. Although, my son is quite happy he doesn't have to go back there ever again.

They booked us for a consultation initially due to it being for multiple teeth. The front desk staff were incredibly friendly, professional and welcoming. The consultation appointment was short and the extraction was booked for a few weeks out at a convenient time. The surgical appointment went very smoothly and Dr. Schmidt took excellent care of my husband, including a call later in the day to follow up. We had no complications whatsoever. My only real issue was with the initial consultation appointment where they wanted us to arrive 30 minutes early to complete paperwork. We had completed the paperwork online, none of which they apparently had. Then it appeared they were running behind on appointments as my husband was not called back until 30 minutes after his actual appointment time. I find that incredibly disrespectful to any patient, given their time is as valuable as those they are actually paying a service for. I get appointments run behind, but 30 minutes is excessive and with nobody kindly informing and apologizing to patients that this is what is happening is a big miss. Regardless of me being annoyed with that (my husband is so easy going he does not care and would literally sit there for an hour) given the level of care and service with everything else, this place is great!
