Madison Eyes will give you a tasteful, expert, detailed selection process when you're picking your eyeglasses. They have a wide selection of normal-looking frames, as well as more distinctive choices that the staff will be excited to show you. It's worth stopping in if you want some choices that you won't be able to find elsewhere. My left eye is -6, my right eye is -4, and I have strong astigmatisms in both eyes too. Mintze, my optician, set about looking for frames that had adequate support for the thicker parts of my lenses-to-be. When it came time to pick the coatings, she warned me that the blue light filters would really harm the transmission of the thicker parts of the lens. I appreciated this attention to detail. Love the selection of eyewear here - it's the most extensive and unique selection of anywhere I have been. Best place, by far, to find thick, dark frames (just like I like). Customer service is good, although there's been instances where some of the ladies behind the desk (some time ago) seemed rather short in their attitudes and it came across as rude. Needless to say, that was not my experience this time around, which was nice. The doctors are knowledgeable, take their time, and of course you get freebies. The wait time is 5-10 min, even if you have an appointment. This place is not for someone who is on a budget. It IS expensive, even after insurance. Their mistake cost me $528 extra. The staff told me my insurance covers glasses and contacts. No it doesn't. A series of mistakes on their part ost me an extra $528. I wrote a letter documenting what happened and they blamed me - I should have known by insurance better than what their staff said. I should have remembered certain extra charges from my last visit 3 years ago. They're super nice until something goes wrong and then they're super nasty. Go elsewhere. read more

I have been going to Madison Eyes for many years. My usual doctor is Paul Naftali, who I really like, but I got pink eye from my little grandsons and wanted to see a doctor quickly. I was able to get an appointment for the next day with Dr. Lacott. I was very impressed with him also. I love the screening they do first with state of the art equipment and both doctors I have seen there are caring, good listeners and extremely competent. I think this is a wonderful facility and I will continue to go there with whatever doctor I can get an appointment with when I need one. The women at the desk were very helpful and I am totally happy. Both my daughter and my significant other go here too and so did my 100 year old mother. Great place. read more

I was in urgent need of a replacement pair of glasses on a holiday after misplacing my pair. Molly Larkin, an optician, at Madison Eyes was extremely understanding and patient. She worked quickly to find my prescription and work with lens that they had in the store, calling me after hours to advise that she and a colleague were able to create a replacement pair that was pretty close to the ones that I misplaced. It's a nice enough place, but be careful with what you ask for when seeing the eye doctor. You could land yourself a $99 fee for saying something like "hi, if I have a stigmatism, would that affect how contacts work on me?" And their answer will cost you $99. Consistently bad. The mismanagement of this office is frustrating. The personnel seem confused and inattentive. You get a different answer, depending on who picks up the phone. Horrible experience. Will never use again. Made me wait for a scheduled appt. They obviously overbook and then make excuses. Apparently they use zocdoc and it doesn't handle their appts correctly. The service was no better than a place in the mall but at much higher prices. I probably will just use Walmart or Costco next time. Cant be any worse and I know it will be much cheaper. Reply: Completely false. 4 appointments were not missed. The appointments were updated using your service Zocdoc. Apparently you consider changing an appointment on zocdoc a "missed appt", which is nonsense. Nobody from your office called to confirm the appt. or to discuss anything. We found out when we arrived you had unilaterally cancelled it. Either way, the response from staff was unacceptable. If clients are treated as disposable commodities, finding another optometrist for routine (yet pricey) exams, contacts, glasses, etc, is easy enough for us. Extremely overpriced. They charge you for everything. I have been getting contacts here for a while. When I went in for my yearly exam they charged me for a contact evaluation even though the same OD did my exam and contacts thought that was weird. Then they charged for an extra eye exam because of COVID. So I walked out with a $100 bill. Glasses are insanely expensive. Later on I called for my prescription and it was like pulling teeth to get it from them. Also, the female OD who I saw had zero bed side manner. Horrible customer service both my husband and I had eye exams ordered six months worth of contact lenses as well as glasses for him. I mentioned I was low on contacts and needed some to hold me over. The Dr. gave me a few of my new script because the front desk couldn't find them and then said they were out of them which was clearly a lie. They also said it would take a while to receive our order which we understood with covid however when we finally received our orders via mail both of the prescriptions were ordered incorrectly!! The employee that ordered the lenses argued with me and I had to verify the script verbally 3 times before it sunk in! I asked to speak to the doctor was told she was out for a few weeks wasn't much she could do to fix it. I asked her to check my chart she said nothing. I asked for samples to hold us over until they could correct our scripts that they messed up and all she could do was give me one pair of my old script and that I had to come before a certain time to pick up today (Saturday) which also happens to be my son's birthday to accommodate her schedule and wait for a new shipment for both of us. Madison Eyes has a ton of high tech equipment and experienced doctors. The purpose of my visit was eye exam and getting a prescription. Scheduling an appointment was easy and simple. Exam was thorough. I enjoyed the conversation with Dr Naftali. The prescription I received had everything except for pupilary distance (PD), which renders it useless because it cannot be used to make glasses. When I asked the staff at Madison Eyes to measure and add PD to the prescription they refused. The reason - "you need to buy glasses from us". I understand they need to make money selling glasses. However doing a little extra for the customer goes a long way. That's what sets 5-star businesses from average 3-star. read more

I had not been to the eye doctor in years. Never had a need to go. Rather than go to a chain vision center I decided to try a local spot. I was very impressed and happy I chose Madison Eyes. The second I walked in I was greeted and assisted promptly. Their waiting area is small so take the time to peruse the selection of eyeglasses and even sun wear. After a brief wait I was escorted to a room with state of the art eye tests. The two young ladies were patient and explained everything in detail. After another short wait I was greeted by the Dr. N himself. We chatted for a short while. He was compassionate and very friendly. Didn't pressure me to purchase unnecessary eye-wear. From start to finish Madison Eyes does it right! Bonus points for deep discounts due to my vision insurance. Location is across from a Starbucks. It took an hour for my routine eye exam at a time when they weren't particularly busy. At the peak of my frustration (and without voicing anything) one of the assistants gave me a Starbucks gift card. No, I cannot get back the 30-minutes I spent waiting for dr. Naftali, but yes - I appreciate a team who recognizes things out of the ordinary with the experience they want their clients to have and I appreciate their desire to rectify. In addition to that, the experience itself was very thorough, the entire team took the time to explain everything to me and dr. Naftali even went through the scan of my Eyes to highlight everything so I can better understand the process. Because they were so thorough and because of their level of customer service, even though I was frustrated at the long wait I left really appreciating this place. I saw Dr. Lacott for the first time last week and I have to say I was more than impressed with this service and office. I work in healthcare so I tend to be highly critical and not so easy to please. This office really impressed me and I feel like I was in the best hands. It was a massive snow storm and I was the first appointment of the day. They still took me on time for my 8am appointment and I did not feel rushed at all during any of the time I was there. They have state of the art equipment and I feel this is the best and most complete eye exam I have ever had. Everyone made sure to check with my insurance plan before doing anything and talking to me about the cost I would be incurring for glasses and contacts and there was absolutely no pressure to buy anything. Visited this location after being unbelievably disappointed with lens crafters and their inability to provide a comprehensive exam as well as glasses fitting/styling/recommendations. Madison eyes is a gem. The staff was very knowledgable, friendly and receptive to My needs/questions. I was hesitant to try a place that's not a "chain" but so far I'm very happy with my visit. I went in for a routine eye exam, thinking I'd keep my current glasses and replace lenses if needed. I left with great service and honest opinions on two new pairs of glasses to add to my wardrobe! Waiting to receive them in the next few days. The selection of designer glasses was very current/ up-to-date and the young woman helping me was SO wonderful. Great office, with friendly people and good magazine selection. Dr Naftali was very informative, not making me feel rushed at all, and answering all my questions and showing off some of their cool diagnosis tools. The frames and lenses seem to cost a small fortune, but Helen has put me in a number of frames that were just perfect. Sometimes you get glasses and its just, "meh" - and you're thinking about what you could have gotten. Not with Helen. For the last 3 visits, I've come away with a pair that I love and wear every day. I have been to Madison eyes for two annual check-ups, including getting new contact lenses and a visit for an eye emergency. I have seen both doctors and find them knowledgable, informative, thorough and friendly. I would also give high marks to the technicians and office staff. I am a long time contact lens wearer, but my last pair of lenses were no longer working for me. My previous eye doctor was either unable or unwilling to take the time to fit me with a suitable pair of lenses. Dr. Naftali provided me with a well-fitting pair of lenses that provide excellent vision. He also stayed later one evening when I called with an eye emergency. I have been to about 5 different eye doctors in the last 15 years for my annual eye check-up and have been displeased for one reason or another.
