Yes - I have a fondness for small boutique inns. Intimate, where you get to know the staff pretty well! The staff has always been friendly and very very helpful because they are locals that work there. The place is hands down cleanest establishment I have ever stayed, and worked at. Yes... I used to work there 3 years ago. I have made long standing friends with the staff and the visitors to the island. Oh yes did I mention - ON Martha's Vineyard. 24 he coffee/tea/snacks/ice cream/microwave. In town location so sometimes it CAN be noisy! Coffee shop next door, islands favorite pizza down one end and on the other end are a few really tasty, busy restaurants and.... Donuts served at night! They have board games, towels, beach chairs and umbrellas and sand toys for the kids!! ALL AROUND GREAT PLACE TO STAY!!!! read more

Hotel was in the absolutely perfect location to be able to explore the entire town of Oak Bluffs. Walking distance to everything and great coffee/ice cream/restaurants within steps from the door. Staff was incredibly accommodating by allowing us to check in early when our ferry arrived and provided incredible baked goods from famous Morning Glory Farm every morning. Board games and decks of cards to use for rainy days as well! Rooms were clean and comfortable and exactly what we needed for our stay. Can't say enough about the location. Wow! read more

We loved our four night stay at the Madison Inn! It's in the perfect location for walking around town, to many great restaurants, and to the ferry. Everyone who worked there was friendly and so helpful! We'd never been to Martha's Vineyard before so that was so appreciated. If we ever have the chance to go back we will definitely stay here again. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. they have a lovely little patio area where we enjoyed a glass of wine several nights (there's a nice wine and spirits shop right around the corner). And the lovely breads they put out in the morning make for a wonderful light breakfast. All in all it was perfect! read more

This was my first "solo" vacay, and From the moment I walked into The Madison Inn, (after an unreasonably short walk from the harbor), I am greeted with the cheery voice of Heather. Heather is one of those rare people who you feel right at home with from the moment you meet and it only crescendoed from there. And then there was Mary, who was always willing and eager to hear my exploits of the day. We spent so much time talking and laughing right off the bat, that I almost forgot I was in an establishment and not someone's living room! I stayed in room 2, which was small, very clean, neat and tastefully decorated and just perfect for me. The bed was sooooo comfy I slept like a baby, and even with the rooms being so close to each other, I was not disturbed by anyone else's visit. Being off season several of the restaurants and shops were closed, but I was able to visit East Chop Lighthouse, The Gingerbread cottages and tabernacle and get my groove on at The Ritz with the music of the Edbury Allstars. I ate well at Linda Jeans and totally loved the entire experience. Finally, on the day of departure, there was a mixup about where we would need to catch the ferry for the return to the mainland. I need not have worried because the OB harbor master Ms. Bridgette made sure we made it to Vineyard Haven Harbor on time! read more

Heather is a star! She called me with availability due to a last minute cancellation and I was able to surprise my boyfriend with a night on the Vineyard. She was just as excited as us! She was so friendly and genuinely interested in making sure we could make the most of our visit. Great service and friendly staff go a long way in my book. The location is also amazing. Just steps away from great food, drink, and the beach! The inn even provides towels, beach chairs, and other essentials. The rooms are spotless and so comfy. A nice cottage feel! If you are torn between where to stay or whether or not to wait for a room here, do yourself a favor and choose the Madison Inn, especially if you are a first timer or with a first timer. I always grew up staying in Edgartown, but it was nice to be in Oak Bluffs with the flexibility to go anywhere and easy access to renting bikes, mopeds, cars, etc. It was the perfect spot! We really enjoyed our stay at the Madison Inn. Great location right in the heart of town, one block near the ferry, shops, the cottage village, great restaurants and the scenic ocean walkway. The inn provides breakfast each morning and complimentary coffee, tea and snacks all day (cookies, ice cream and popsicles). Truly delightful! Bottom line: I would recommend the Madison Inn to anyone, but especially couples. First and foremost: the location simply cannot be beat, especially for the price. My boyfriend and I took the Island Queen to Oak Bluffs, and the Madison Inn is maybe a 5-minute walk from the dock. Easy peasy. Furthermore, you are in the heart of Oak Bluffs, within walking distance to anywhere you'd want to go. The Flying Horses carousel is across the street (a classic), Nancy's (a fun waterfront restaurant) is just down the road, and you have your pick of shops, and more importantly, ice cream! (Would highly recommend Ben and Bill's.) You are also a 5-minute stroll from the beach. Truly, the Madison Inn could not have a better location. Every room in the Madison Inn is different, but you are able to browse and select your room on the website when booking. My boyfriend and I stayed in room #5, and although the room was small, it was the perfect size for us, beautiful, very clean, and nice and chilly with the controllable AC unit. The bathroom window has a glimpse of Nantucket Sound! The walls in the Inn are thin (we could hear the AC unit running in the room next door), but it didn't bother us in the slightest. Everyone was quiet and respectful. Just something to note in case you have young children! The bonuses: easy luggage storage for before check-in and after check-out, beach towels for use so you don't have to lug your own, board games and books for use in the lobby, and free tea, coffee, cookies, ice cream sandwiches, and popsicles! The free toiletries and soaps were also lovely. Last, but certainly not least, everyone we encountered at the front desk was kind, welcoming, and helpful. The check-in and check-out process could not be easier. If you are looking to stay in Oak Bluffs, look no further! This lovely place was one of the highlights of our stay. From the moment we walked in, Mary the owner greeted us and offered us a quick lowdown of everything we should know. The location was wonderful and convenient. The rooms were wonderfully bright, organized in a way that made them not feel small, and most importantly clean. It was rainy part of the trip and it was nice knowing I can hangout in the hotel room and feel like I was home. Also a nice plus is that they have a closet with umbrellas, beach gear and towels so that you don't have to pack that with you. The staff was friendly and available even after hours. We were offered many complimentary items including snacks and beach towels for our recreational use. The rooms are quite small but they've clearly done a lot of work to make them as nice as possible; for example, the walls are thin so we were provided with a white noise machine which did the trick! Everything was clean and tidy and the decor was perfectly pleasant. Given the amenities and the location (which is definitely a plus - just around the corner from the main street in Oak Bluffs), the price is awesome. Cute little place in a great location; we had room #2 - the smallest room in the place - and it was totally fine. Bed was comfy, free bottled water & snacks, and good A/C. One thing about room 2 is that the bathroom is outside the room in the hall. It's still private, but not in the room. No big deal for us on a 2 night stay. The front desk is helpful and friendly and will store your luggage after check out so you can enjoy the rest of the day in MV. The fruit and fritter are a good light breakfast & the beach towels and chairs are a nice free extra. read more

I stayed at the Madison Inn back in May of this year, just a few weekends before Memorial Day and I loved it. If you don't mind beating the summer rush to Martha's Vineyard, I definitely recommend taking advantage of the pre-season rates here. We paid $99/night and stayed for two nights at this Inn- and we were extremely pleased with our visit. Some of the shops and restaurants were either just opening up for the season or hadn't quite opened yet, but we still were able to thoroughly enjoy Oak Bluffs and the rest of the Vineyard. We walked onto the ferry and took it to Vineyard Haven (Oak Bluffs' port wasn't opened yet for the season). We found the public transportation system to be very efficient and rather affordable and we could get from Vineyard Haven to Oak Bluffs within 15 minutes on the bus. Once in Oak Bluffs, we walked everywhere and enjoyed every minute of it- the victorian houses of the neighborhood are absolutely gorgeous. The Inn is right in the middle of everything, one block over from the main strip of stores and restaurants, and 2 blocks from the ocean/beach. The Inn keeper at the Madison was wonderfully knowledgable about the history of the area and was happy to share all that she could with us about what to explore while we were in town. The room we stayed in was not terribly large, but comfortable, and there's coffee, fruit and local pastries available for guests throughout the day and into the evening, a lovely little detail. The Inn was kind enough to keep our luggage stored on the day we checked out so we could take advantage of our time there and not have to wheel our suitcases around. I especially recommend the mexican restaurant next door, Zapotec, that's also owned by the owners of the Madison Inn- it's delicious and they have great margaritas! read more

Perfect location for car-less people--near beach, town, and bus route. You can pack light, too since they supply beach bags, coolers, chairs, towels, sunscreen and toys. The extra snacks--fritters at breakfast and cookies in the afternoon in addition to the ever present fruit basket, granola bars, twizzlers, coffee, tea and cocoa make it feel like home. We stayed in #16 right outside the snacks and back door to patio so a bit noisy from that but not too much street noise there (jar of earplugs on desk!). The bath room has an ocean view through the small window--maybe 2nd floor has more views? We could store our stuff before and after check out (free popsicles in that room and community fridge, though we had a large kitchenette with full size fridge, microwave, and utensils in our room.) The pull out sofa is crate and barrel but kinda lumpy before adding extra blankets to cushion you. There was a musty smell in the room, maybe the a/c or just being an island? Books and board games to borrow and free wifi, too The inn keeper's daughter is wicked cute! Very friendly hosts! read more

This is a cute little hotel within walking distance of most of the town's attractions. We had a room on the second floor toward the front of the hotel. There was a little porch outside our room, but we didn't have a chance to use it. I'm sure it would be fantastic in warmer weather. There was coffee and pastries for breakfast and ice cream sandwiches available all day in the lobby. The reason I didn't give the hotel five stars is because the walls are a bit thin and you can hear a lot of noise from outside your room. The night we stayed there, a TV blared all night. read more

My husband, 7 month old son and I stayed here with our friends for MDW 2015. It was such a wonderful place to stay! The staff was extremely accommodating and super informative on what to do in the area. The rooms were extremely clean and I loved the fact that had a pack and play for my little guy. Also, each room has a white noise machine, since the walls are somewhat thin and you can easily hear people in/out of the halls (imagine staying at a family member's house). They have a communal fridge and freezer which is super helpful when you have a baby. They also have beach towels and other various beach items that can be borrowed. The inn is in walking distance to a lot of shops/food/entertainment and the bus isn't too far. I truly would recommend this place, over and over again. I've stayed in the Vineyard many times, but i think out of all the places i've stayed i really like this one above most of the others. Its a small family owned Inn with tastefully appointed rooms, super clean, great location and friendly service, what's not to like? I managed to get a room with an ocean view, always nice, my room was quite large for a Vineyard room with 2 queen beds and a large bathroom, another first for me on the island! Check in was smooth and the lady at the front desk was welcoming and friendly, doors are locked at 10pm but your room key will allow you to get in after that time. There's a small coffee and snack section behind the front desk and an ice machine and fridge to the right. The location is absolutely perfect for me, close enough to everything that you might want to see and multiple restaurants within literally 20 feet of the front door. The ferry at Oak Bluff's is about a 4 minute walk, the marina about the same. The Madison will certainly be one of the first ones i call for future reservations on Martha's Vineyard, outstanding! read more

This was our first trip to Martha's Vineyard. My husband and I stayed in the Madison Inn for 5 days. The moment we entered the door we were warmly greeted by Blanche. She runs the front desk and SO much more. She handed us maps, gave us the inside scoop on good restaurants and bike rentals, directed us where all the beach towels, coolers and chairs were for our unlimited/free use. I can't tell you what a help it was to have access to those beach items, rather than have to drag them with us from home. This hotel has really thought of everything from comfort to convenience. There is bottled water in the room upon arrival, and more as you need. Granola bars and fruit, coffee and tea available in the main lobby at all hours. Every morning there's a yummy apple fritter for the guests (cut into pieces large enough to enjoy). You can enjoy these things on the back patio (tables and chairs), front porch (comfortable chairs)or inside the main office (which is also air conditioned). On two mornings we brought our breakfast and coffee back to the inn and enjoyed it on the patio (check out Slice of Life, Mocha Motts and Skinny's Fat Sandwiches). We initially chose the Madison Inn due to the positive reviews on Trip Advisor, but also because of it's location. IDEAL location to the ferry, restaurants, shopping and the beach! We took the Steamship Authority Ferry from Woods Hole to Oak Bluffs. We left our car over at the ferry parking lot in Woods Hole (Palmer Ave parking). From the Oak Bluffs ferry port to the Madison Inn was a 5 minute, easy walk. Basically, walk off the ferry and make your first left on Kennebec and there you are! It made carrying our luggage easy. We stayed in Room 4. Very comfortable with air conditioning. The bathroom is big enough (not huge, but a good sized shower). VERY clean room. We had only good things to say about the room and daily maid service. We also appreciated that the front and side door were locked every night. We highly recommend the Madison Inn for anyone looking for a comfortable, convenient and welcoming place to stay. And if you're bringing your bike or renting one there is a "bike room" (with a lock) to store your bike during your stay. We rented from Andersons Rental, which is another place we suggest if you want to rent a bike from a really nice and funny gentleman. read more

Very nice and quaint hotel. The rooms are clean and updated. The location is fabulous; minutes from the ferry, shopping, dining, etc.. Upon arrival, the co-owner, Mary was extremely nice and welcome. She could have not been more accommodating. In the morning, there is a light breakfast of fruit, granola bars and coffee and teas offered. Adequate to get started for the day. The only downfall to the experience was Blanche, the "in-house manager." Countless times she was rude, ignorant and down right bitter. Not sure if she was jealous that she was not on vacation or if this is her general demeanor. If it was her we booked our reservation through or had initial contact with, we would NOT have stayed. read more

Stayed here for a night while visiting Martha's Vineayard, and I see no need to ever stay anywhere else on the island. This hotel is perfect! They check all the big boxes I look for: -Location is perfect: walk-able to the ferry terminal, restaurants, beach, and main street. -Price was one of the more reasonable choices on the island. -Rooms looked recently remodeled and were spotlessly clean. And they also excel at all the little things that make a good hotel great: -Happy to safely store our luggage for the day. -Free candies, snacks, coffee, fruit, and tea all day long. -Free baked bread/muffins for breakfast. -Friendly employees. -We arrived with no plans, and the innkeeper gave us an amazing in-depth rundown of all the things to do in the area. We pretty much followed her itinerary to the T, and had an incredible time. -Can select the exact room you want to book online. I have Diamond status with Hilton, and the Diamond Status hospitality doesn't even hold a candle to what we received at the Madison Inn. This place is great. Will recommend to everyone. read more

Lots of amenities such as beach toys/towels/sunscreen, umbrellas to borrow when it rains (which I unfortunately needed!), lots of games, etc. Lovely ocean view from my room only one building back from the water. Coffee/snacks available 24/7 (including ice cream bars!), plus fresh cookies in the evening and pastries in the morning. Very clean, easy to open windows, good AC, nice coffee and minor eats in the morning, snack bars all day, water and chips in the rooms, etc. Also, I really liked the front porch and shared lobby area for hanging out if needed. Super location, reasonable price, very nice and attentive staff. If you want a huge king size bed and desk like at a Hyatt, this IS NOT the place for you. The location is great (1 minute from the ferry, the harbor, and Circuit Ave.) and staff (are very nice, they help with restaurant suggestions, directions, and supplying beach coolers, towels, and chairs....they even called me to let me know that I left my I Pod charger, and they are going to mail it to me) so if I were reviewing just the staff and location I would give Madison Inn in Oak Bluffs/Marthas Vineyard 5 stars. Unfortunately hotels need to be rated on service, amenties and accomodations as well as staff and location. The experience you get here is similar to that of staying in the guest room at an aunt's house that used to be occupied by your adult cousin when she was still a minor (frilly curtains, old painted furniture). It's basically a very clean, but old rooming house functioning as a hotel that charges big city room rates, there is no one to help with luggage, there is no elevator, there are no meals served, the front desk closes at 10 p.m. There is a small porch with about 4 comfy chairs if you wanna sit out front and watch traffic or the back lots of Circuit Avenue stores and restaurants which house dumpsters and parked vehicles of employees of those establishments. They supply ice in a large bin in the freezer component of the communal refrigerator thats located in a room next to the front desk/lobby, you have to scoop it up with a small scooper that sits in the bin which is not very sanitary because everyone's hands touch the scooper.) There is free coffee available all day, they also put out a few pastries (apple fritters that are cut up into several pieces) and fruit in the morning, during the afternoon a plate of warm cookies is left on the table by the front door for all to enjoy. The room that I stayed in was $249 per night plus tax which amounted to over $700 for 3 nights but was cramped with low ceilings. There is no phone (you have to physically go down to the front desk if you need anything, keep your cell phone charged and make sure you have roaming minutes so that you can access the outside world without your calls dropping), no iron (you can go down to the front desk and ask for an iron and ironing board but be careful not to trip over the board and/or iron cord while taking it up a flight of stairs to your room), no dresser and no closet. There were a few hooks behind the room door to hang clothes on. The bathroom was small with a small shower and toilet both are on a large step (not adequate for an older guest or a disabled individual) the bathroom door squeaked, there is no shelving in the bathroom for toiletries. They are serious about their 11 a.m. check out. I was ready to leave with my luggage sitting outside my room with the door opened at 11:01 a.m. when I saw a hand come to knock on the door to make sure I was checking out. They'll hold your luggage for you if you arrive early or if you want to stay in town after 11 a.m. checkout, be sure not to leave any valuables in your luggage because it won't be locked up it sits in the room with the fridge and beach towels or in the lobby right by the front door, I didn't have a problem but better be safe than sorry. This is a nice cozy place to crash but its wayyyy overpriced, expect a bed and breakfast without the breakfast and with 4 star hotel rates. Not being negative, I just feel that reviews should make potential guests aware of whats available and whats not. I think that this is probably one of the best hotels in Oak Bluffs based on the reviews that I've read, however pricing should be adjusted according to room size, service, amenties. Tip: Martha's Vineyard is a great place to get away from the big city but its pretty pricey , and there's not much to do besides going to beaches and touring the island which does have a few beautiful scenes.....don't expect great nightlife, or franchises, only two of the six towns (Oak Bluffs and Edgartown) are wet and last call is at 1 a.m. I would recommend going to MV as a daytripper. Next time around I will try to go to Nantucket or Cape Cod, or event Falmouth and maybe take the ferry over to Oak Bluffs or Vineyard Haven should I attend another event on the island. read more

I just spent a night here & it was awesome! I have never stayed at an Inn before, but I think that this place really had it going on. We stayed in Room #1, which had two twin beds, private bathroom and our own little porch overlooking the street. This was literally a few minutes walk from the Oak Bluffs Ferry and the bus lines. The Inn was extremely clean, friendly and more than accomodating. They had a fridge you could put your cold stuff, towels, beach chairs & even coolers you could borrow to take to the beach. If you had a bike, they have an area where you can store them downstairs (locked up). Considering this was on Martha's Vineyard, I think the price was right. I would definitely recommend to anyone and plan on staying here again in the future. read more

The room was adorable. It was both spacious and quaint (we had two queen beds). Floral curtains, antique furniture and quilted blankets gave this cute B&B a homey feel. The women at the front desk were incredibly welcoming and offered us wine glasses and a bottle opener for our wine, plus a selection of board games we could borrow.
