My mom and I stayed here a few years back during our first trip to Martha's Vineyard. The owner was so welcoming and sweet. She asked us if we would like a room with a balcony and of course we said yes! The house is located directly across the street from the beach. Unfortunately, most days we were there it was foggy, but beautiful nonetheless. We visited off season. She gave us ideas on things we can do, since we took our car on the ferry over to the island. We stayed at Isabelle's for 3 nights in June. It was great-terrific location, wonderful view of the water. Great front porch to sit and relax. My husband has limited mobility. Our room was right on the porch and steps from the breakfast area. The best part of our stay was our hostess, Chantrelle. She was so much fun. 12 Rooms total. Each room is decorated tastefully and the hotel has lots of detail. I've done a lot of homework planning my wedding and this is the perfect set up for a party. Everyone has a private bathroom but can all have downstairs to hang out. Isabelle has been really helpful with planning. Breakfast included and cookies in the afternoon. We had our wedding at Isabelle's this pass weekend June 18th. Chantel the manager of the B&B helped make our wedding weekend one to remember! She helped in so many ways and made our whole family feel very welcomed and at home. Coleen at Isabelle's also was very friendly and helpful to all of us. Inkwell inn owner with low opinion of black people...the irony! During my stay at Isabelle's Beach House I ignored the "those people" reference about attendees of a black sorority event. Overlooked the owner touching my naturally curly hair. However, hypocrisy is where I draw the line. Isabelle complained about people attending a black sorority event and a past guest who allowed friends access to a locked restroom. Obnoxiously yelled "let them go in your room!" which is up 1 to 2 flights of stairs. The comment shocked me because it's unreasonable for a guest of a guest to have access to every part of the lobby except a bathroom. Also, during multiple visits to this inn, I have witnessed past guests allow their guest access to the lobby bathroom plus I have witnessed random folks like a lifeguard and friends of employees use the same lobby bathroom. Isabelle displayed an unreasonable bias that goes against hospitality and suggests the guests of guests are barn animals unworthy of using a lobby toilet. This is the same logic that allowed separate toilets during Jim Crow. I got a good sense of Isabell's bias and highly doubt she would take that stance with all customers. When my two black, affluent and senior citizen friends needed to go, I graciously escorted them to the lobby bathroom. We were immediately ambushed by one of her employees who made all of us very uncomfortable. It felt like the Philadelphia Starbucks incident without the cops being called. The next day, Isabelle approach me directly to unload her anger about me allowing my friends to use a lobby bathroom. Since she was aggressive and showed absolutely no respect to me as a person--much less a customer--I decided to just listen and observe. Her rant made me wonder why she felt so comfortable talking down to a customer who has stayed in her establishment for almost 5 years. It is never acceptable to berate a customer--any customer! I'll spare an explanation on why I go to MV and the history lesson but check out the PBS doc "A place of our own" to get it. My dealings with Isabelle revealed a lot and I am very disheartened by her views and actions. read more

This is by far the best place in Oak Bluffs. I would highly recommend this for your weekend getaway. My Husband and family stayed here for a weekend in March. Had the best time ever. Just stayed again for our July weekend. The rooms are immaculate and every morning there is breakfast. Fresh coffee, pastries, mini quiches, variety of cereals and fruit. Isabelle is such a lovely lady. I look forward to my next stay there. It's like coming home. read more

My very first trip to MV in all of these years. We received a gift certificate to Isabelle's Beach House as a wedding gift. What can I say - absolute perfection. Location, amenities, customer service, cleanliness, room size and VIEWS! We had a glorious full ocean view out our bedroom window to watch the magnificent sunrise each morning and sitting on the huge front porch was absolute heaven. We only stayed for two days, but it was very easy to get the lay of the land. We had a fabulous time and will definitely be returning to MV and Isabelle's Beach House next year. A new favorite. We had stayed here for two nights last week. We were not too sure what to expect since it was our first time staying at a bed and breakfast. I read reviews before booking our stay and I could not have been any happier with our choice. Nancy and Isabelle are very hospitable; it felt like we were staying with family. Breakfast was tasteful and had plenty of choices, house was very quiet even though there were other couples staying there. The house has fantastic views of water and there is a big porch to have morning coffee on. Isabelle does speak French and it was nice to hear my husband speak some French with her. We will always stay at Isabelle's from now on and we are looking forward to our next stay! read more

This was my first experience with bed & breakfast. It was the nicest place I've ever stayed. Beach is directly across from the front porch. Nice breakfast each morning & Isabelle is very attentive to our needs. My cousins from Bedford, MA made all of the arrangements with Isabelle. She also sent pictures. I am always skeptical about B&B's because you never know what you will get. This place is very clean, charming, and beautiful. Isabelle and her staff are super friendly. You are welcomed with the scent of freshly baked muffins and homemade waffles every morning. In the afternoon, there are freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. The view from the porch is stunning! Stayed two nights for a wedding in Edgartown. While most of the party stayed in Edgartown we were so glad to have experienced Isabelle's hospitality and accommodations. We all agreed that we would come back to her place without a doubt. It is a great location for us to walk to town, ferry, beach, bus. I have heard wonderful things about staying here and have recommended it multiple times to family and friends when they visit throughout the year (as a year round islander myself) given its beach access. However, I was recently at the beach across the street w my 3 yo son and he needed to use the bathroom. I politely asked if we could use their restroom (clearly for him). The woman in the office was incredibly rude and turned me away. When I explained it was for my three yo she reiterated that I was not a patron and I could "walk to the Steamship Authority like everyone else". I understand you have a policy and I can respect that, but her overt rudeness and blatant lack of empathy was unnerving. That said I would never recommend anyone to stay here ever again as there are many beautiful inns that are on or near the beach that have lovely staff that will be kind to you all the time. read more

We received a night at Isabelle's Beach House for our 40th anniversary. Oh we loved our stay, everything about it. Since we didn't have a car on MV, the location was within walking distance to many sights and transportation to the ferry. The room was quaint, clean, fresh and had a wonderful breeze from the Atlantic Ocean. The breakfast included fresh fruit, waffles, muffins and great friendly service. Since we got in late, the beach house was very accomodating to stay past check-out time with an outside shower (after the beach), storage for our belongs and warm cookies as we departed. I would return to Isabelle's Beach House again!! read more

Isabelle's Beach House is a very beautiful location on Martha's Vineyard. A few weeks ago my husband and I got married on The Vineyard and were lucky enough to spend the weekend on the big front porch with our closest friends. Everyone had a great time going to the beach and catching up on the porch. It is in the perfect location. Everyone could walk into town for food and across the street for the beach. The staff is very professional and accommodating. They know a lot about the area and are able to provide directions and recommendations for things to do, see, and eat. Isabelle's waffles and eggs in the morning were a perfect start to everyday. I can't recommend them highly enough. They were a treat to work with and you will be very pleased with everything they do. read more

We came for three nights off season, just before the big Memorial Day push. Isabelle was wonderful, the rooms are tastefully decorated. If your are a big beach person the access is great, right across the street. You quickly feel right at home. I would strongly recommend staying here when you visit MV! read more
