This is THE only place in Hampton Roads (and I would argue at least throughout the whole east coast!) to go if you want exquisitely unique, custom designed, jewelry. This father and son team of Tiffany-trained jewelers are absolute artists whose medium happens to be fine metals and sparkling stones. We have had a real opportunity to see just how exceptional they are when I went to them with an antique ring that came from my great-grandmother that was in rather poor shape. My grandfather, her son, wore it as his pinky ring for as long as I could remember and, over the many years, it took on a lot of wear and tear...some of the smaller stones had been lost and the setting had been flattened, but it was always worn with love. We wanted to bring it back to its former glory and we needed to find an exceptional jeweler to do it. We found that in Drew, the younger of the team. He worked with us, unhurried, and with his help decided it was best to recreate the ring which would allow subtle improvements, keeping everything we loved about the beautifully designed ring but improving on it so it would sit better on the hand and be durable for everyday wear. The original ring had an open back and Andrew suggested a filigree panel for comfortable wear and to protect the stones (it came out absolutely beautiful...it is now almost as pretty on the inside as it is from the front!). He found matching stones to replace the ones that had been lost and rebuilt the ring, adding the most exquisite detailing throughout, never losing sight of the original design, but instead improving on it. The end result quite literally reduced me to tears. It's even more beautiful now that Drew's incredible skill subtly and expertly perfected what I thought had been perfect before. The end result is a beautiful, cherished family ring which will be passed down to my daughter, a permanent heirloom. We could not be more thrilled or amazed, and we will be back very soon to have Drew help us with other things. Whether it's their own design, it's helping you to envision a custom piece you want to create, or a complicated repair such as ours was, you will not find better, more experienced jewelers than Jerry and Drew at Raybar Fine Jewelry. (And they're such nice people, too...including their staff!). Seriously, don't bother going anywhere else unless you can be satisfied by ordinary. Not only was time going to be cut from 3weeks to only one day, but he went out of his way to talk to me about my wife's ring. He printed me out the certification for my diamond(which Kay repeatedly failed to do) but he also showed me several stones that were loose because Kay's inspections were poor. Updated Review: After their exceptional service the first time, I returned to Raybar and had my engagement ring, my grandmother's wedding band, and another ring in for resizing. I arranged a time to come in online through YELP but arrived there about 30 minutes later than I had planned. But I was promptly helped and left my rings for their work.
