NHL Arena #13 for me. It's an iconic and historic arena, very old, but they have done a lot of work on the arena to modernize it a bit. Lots of cool photo ops outside the main entrance. Seats still very small and it does feel very cramped. Feels pretty weird in person because it is very recessed lighting over the seats so it is kind of dark. Decent amount of food options available and bathroom lines moved pretty quickly. Good thing is it is right next to Penn station, so you can hop on a subway to and from the game or get a taxi in front of the arena. I'm not even sure if anyone actually drives and where to park if there is an event at the arena. Glad I got to check off visiting the garden off of my bucket list.

Well yeah I'd come again, if I want to attend a concert haha. Went to see Cardi :) drink lines were nuts, but I got my beverages and the young lady that serves me was pleasant. It was a great time! Sold out arena. Miss Cardi to the B, put on a show!....

Madison Square Garden is an iconic arena for basketball games, hockey games and concerts!

Came to msg for the cardi b concert and i must say all the staff members we encountered were nice and efficient. Esp at the food and drink areas. Even the bathroom attendant near section 210 was very friendly and thorough. I will say the only con was how slow the alcoholic drink lines were moving, they need to get better with that. Otherwise, nice clean venue with efficient staff

The iconic Madison Square Garden. I've already visited this arena, but it still puts me in awe. The famous concave ceiling alone is a reason to visit, but I came to watch a hockey game. The atmosphere is so lively especially during a sporting event. The concessions are fast moving and decently priced. My only complaint is the egress, but that's a problem with most venues holding such a large capacity of people.

Had such a great time here on a Saturday night. Did not wait in line for anything despite the crowd. I was able to get through security and get drinks and snacks at the bar and concession stands without a wait. The bathrooms were clean and the bathroom attendant was friendly. The venue itself -- amazing.

MSG - thought I'd written a review though apparently not! I've been here on multiple occasions in the past for sporting events, circus, concerts. It's certainly one of the premier venues for all types of sports and performances--anyone who can get booked at MSG has massive star power, it's a lifetime achievement milestone for most. Interestingly enough the current venue was only built in 1968, prior to this it existed in three other iterations in a couple locations around the city. The original building was constructed 1879, a roofless structure close to Madison Square Park initially named the Great Roman Hippodrome by PT Barnum (yes with his circus of the same name, which in those years was the arena's source of profitability) though subsequently renamed Madison Square Garden by owner William Vanderbilt. The second version was built in 1890 in the Beaux-Arts style, the third built in 1925 at 50th Street and 8th Avenue with a capacity for 18,000 people. MSG is the largest of indoor venues in the NYC metro area, smaller than MetLife Stadium in NJ which has about 85,000 seats and Yankee stadium's 46,500, but those are open to the elements. The Garden's 20,000 seats (as set up for concerts, 19,000 for sporting events), makes it larger than both Barclay's in Brooklyn with 17,700 and UBS Arena in Elmont which seats 19,000. MSG is the most centrally located in Manhattan and easily accessible via all forms of public transportation from train, subway, bus, bike or walking by foot. There are many parking options and ride share to a nearby drop off is simple too. My last event here was a Paramore concert and prior to that a couple Knicks basketball games. Will say for the concert, lighting and sound were terrific, I wasn't sure if I should be concerned when the entire level of seats vibrated as all the attendees were clapping and singing together with some of the songs, though I imagine happens all the time here. For the basketball games there's a clear view from every seat though it really depends on how close to ground level you are, to determine the details you can see.

Five Stars: Madison Square Garden The World's Most Famous Arena Look, New York doesn't do subtle. It does loud, it does historic, it does "you either get it or you don't." And nothing gets it quite like stepping into the Garden. This place isn't the biggest arena on the planet hell, it's not even the biggest in the NBA anymore, clocking in around 20,000 seats while some Midwestern megadomes push past that. But size is for people who need to compensate. MSG is grand. It's elite. It's the kind of joint where the air feels thicker with ghosts the second you walk in. Four buildings have carried the name since 1879 started as P.T. Barnum's circus pit, saw a scandalous murder on the roof of the second one, hosted Ali-Frazier in '71 when the world stopped to watch two men try to kill each other and every iteration has carried the same truth: if you're playing here, singing here, fighting here, you've arrived. The location? Perfect. Right on top of Penn Station, smack in the sweaty heart of Manhattan. You stumble out of the train, up the escalators, and bam you're in it. No apologies, no excuses. Just concrete and possibility. Whether it's the Knicks dropping a heartbreaking buzzer-beater, the Rangers finally hoisting the Cup in '94, or some musician who's waited their whole career to sell this place out, the experience is the same: electric. Intimate in a way bigger venues can only dream of, thanks to that cable-suspended ceiling that keeps the sound tight and the crowd close. You feel every roar, every miss, every high note. Getting in the door feels like earning something. Doesn't matter if it's hoops, a title fight, or Springsteen it's the pinnacle. The New York pinnacle. I've eaten in better restaurants, sure. Drunk in dive bars with more soul. But nothing captures this city's arrogant, beautiful pulse like the Garden on a big night. It's not perfect lines suck, prices gouge, the acoustics can be unforgiving but who wants perfect? Perfect is boring. This is legendary. This is alive. Go. Pay the money. Fight the crowd. Feel the history hit you like a right hook. Five stars. No hesitation. The World's Most Famous Arena still earns the title.

Phenomenally built monstrosity of a building. The lighting is spectacular. All the service people are very helpful, and always willing to help in anyway possible. The food is pricey but worth it when you're going to watch the NY Knicks play. If you're a basketball head like me, you need to visit this place at least once. Let's go Knicks!!!!

Why 3 stars? Because my insanely expensive seats were partially obstructed. --- --- --- MSG was arguably #1 on my NBA bucket list for many years. I intended on visiting for a long time, but it just never worked out. This past August when the schedule came out, I was eagerly awaiting to find out when the Cavs would be in town. As it turned out, the two visits would be Christmas Day (not happening) and Opening Night. That was not ideal for me, but what sealed the deal is that the Cavs second game ended up being two nights later in Brooklyn, which meant I could double-dip. So I signed up to receive information on when tickets would go on sale, but nothing ever came. But I knew I would have the opportunity to get tickets via the Chase pre-sale, as a long time owner of multiple Chase cards. That day finally came, and it turned out, I needed some kind of a pre-sale code that never came. I had this date circled on my calendar, and then I frantically scoured for the code. Fortunately, a kind soul shared their presale code with me and I was able to grab a couple tickets. To my complete and utter dismay, two tickets that were literally in the top row of the building, cost $335 each. I have attended World Series games for less than that. That's ABSURD for a regular season NBA game. However, I chalked it up to a once-in-a-lifetime bucket list event and got suckered into paying it. Fast forward to game night. Gates only open one hour before tip-off? So bizarre. Every NBA arena I've ever been to is 90 minutes, and I think some even do 2 hours for playoff games. This really makes it a tight squeeze to get everyone in and seated. We get to our seats: near midcourt, but as I mentioned, the top row (excluding the wheel chair row) Section 224, Row 22, Seats 3 and 4. And what's in front of us? Some fairly newly installed add-on with suites. We can fully see the court, but 70% of the videboard is cut-off. Instead, we have to look at a small, off-center screen that's placed on the back of this eye sore that's blocking our view. I sit in this same area at every arena I've been to (this + Barclay's brings my active arena count to 12), and I have never encountered anything like this. I was also disappointed to not be able to look up at the signature MSG ceiling that you always see on TV. I kind of felt robbed of the full experience. And at that price, it was a tough pill to swallow. Lastly, I didn't get to walk around the entire concourse as I always do when I visit a new venue. Because we were on a tight schedule due to the aforementioned one hour from gates to tip off + the fact that everyone was doing the same thing, it was just too crowded to make my way around the whole thing. So I'm sure I missed a few cool things, but from what I did see, it was perfectly fine with some character and uniqueness about it. I did think the giant LED boards above the security/check-in area were really cool. They rotated a bunch of graphics and were a nice thing to look at as we waited to get into the building. And of course, the celebrities in the building is a big thing that makes going to a game in New York so unique. There were close to 10 of them that they showed at various points during the game. I just wondered what they all do when it's time to leave their courtside seat and walk into the masses of people. Overall, I'm glad I finally checked MSG off the list, but I never need to go back again. Especially not at that price.

MSG is central in New York City. Host of concerts, sports events and heck, my grad school graduation ceremony was held here somewhere. Parking is available at plenty of outrageously priced garages in the area and maybe a few reasonable ones. Public transportation is an option as well and Penn station is right next door. Entrances run smoothly with metal detectors, screenings, bag checks and one you're inside, you can purchase souvenirs, head to a lounge, get food, drinks or go to your seats. There's plenty of security and they keep the facility clean (at least, what I saw). I suggest you either don't buy booze or drink outside before coming in. Prices for alcohol are nuts. Whatever you think it'll cost, double or triple it. The venue size is nice and every seat is somewhat of a good seat. Don't get a floor seat at a rock concert if you don't want to stand the whole time. Everyone around you will be standing. The rest of the place has stadium seating. Exiting was a breeze, but bathroom breaks are very crowded. Try to get there before or after the break rushes.

Nothing like a night at Madison Square Garden to remind me why I love talking about the holy trinity: food, service, and ambiance. First of all, the food. Is it five-star dining? No. Did I still absolutely demolish it like a champion between plays? Absolutely. When you're surrounded by thousands of screaming fans, even a simple hot dog starts tasting like it earned a Michelin star. Second, the service. These workers move faster than a point guard on a fast break. I blinked and somehow had a drink, snacks, and change in my hand. Efficiency level: New York. And the ambiance? Come on. The lights, the crowd, the roar when something big happens--it's electric. You're not just watching an event, you're part of the chaos, the energy, the whole beautiful madness. So yes, I came for the show... but you already know I stayed to analyze the food, judge the service, and soak in the vibe like a true professional. Call it research.

I did the tour of Madison Square Garden, and it was a thorough disappointment. And this isn't indicative of our guide Jeff H (?), who, while eccentric, was engaging and fine. The tour will run you $52, and for what you get to "see," it just isn't worth it. First, you get to walk along the concourse and be told about some of the things that have happened here. Which you obviously don't need a tour to do. Next, you are shown pictures in an area "the public doesn't have access to", which is a bit of a misnomer. That is because they are in the area of the VIP suites. While us regular folks are probably never going to have the opportunity or finances to rent one of those suites, to say the public doesn't have access to them is, as I said, a bit of a misnomer. You are then brought to the sky bridge above the arena, which is probably 1 of 2 spots that are actually and legitimately not available for the public to see. And while a different and nice view, it, along with the 2nd spot I'll discuss later, doesn't justify the price or make the tour worth it. You are then brought to the arena floor, which we had limited access to because they were setting up for a concert. Lastly, we got to "see" the locker rooms. Which, again, I'll use the word misnomer. Because while you get to see the locker rooms, it's just from the doorway. You don't actually get to go into the locker room. The lockers were empty, so it's not like anyone could/would steal anything. So the view from the doorway had to do. Overall, it just wasn't worth it. Admittedly, I'm a Boston fan, so someone who is a New York sports fan may appreciate it more, but for me, it was a waste. And honestly, the only reason I'm giving 3 is that the guide was great. Lastly, I also lost out on $4. I had booked the Radio City Music Hall Tour for the week before, and I had booked both tours at the same time the previous month. But when you go on one tour, you get a $4 voucher on your lanyard for the other. So don't book both at the same time if you do the Radio City Music Hall Tour. And you can save yourself $4.

Rooftop wedding in the heart of Manhattan with incredible views of St. Patrick's Cathedral & Rockefeller Center. What more could you ask for? It's makes for one incredible experience for not just the bride and groom, but for all of the guests who are always completely blown away. As close as it is to being perfect, there are few things to keep in mind: 1. If the weather doesn't cooperate (as it didn't during the wedding I shot there, when it rained right before the ceremony), the main garden does get quite soggy. It got bad enough that the bride had to walk around the guests via the outer walkway instead of through the middle. Definitely not the ideal way to make an entrance. 2. The inside is as simple as it gets, so it's really up to you(r planner) to make it something amazing. Basically, picture a clean, white room; a blank slate. If minimalism is your thing (as is with me), then you'll love it. Otherwise, plan to get creative! 3. Space. It's definitely not for large events. Even for smaller weddings, the cocktail hour gets quite cramped. But if you're planning on getting married here, you know that already. From a solely photographer's perspective, while it does make possible some absolutely stunning shots (one of my favorite images was taken here, which you can see in the Photos section), the size of the venue as well as the blank indoor space does limit how creative you can get. If you're looking to get a wide variety of photos, I'd highly suggest you stop by another location for or after the First Look and get portraits before heading to 620 Loft and Garden. Every single room here is SO gorgeous, with furniture from some of the most luxurious brands in the world. As I walked through the rooms, I imagined what it would be like to live in a house like this, a life of luxury, with cocktails at 3 and constant dinner parties. And if you're one of the lucky few who can actually afford to live in a house like this, then the Holiday Home would serve as a life sized inspiration board for you... You get a catalog at the entrance and it serves as a reference to any piece of furniture displayed in the house. The designers themselves are also there in their respective rooms and are more than happy to talk to you about their work / offer to come design your house (if that's what you're looking for). It is a $35 entrance fee that goes towards the Breast Cancer Foundation, though, even if it didn't, so worth it getting to spend an afternoon in the shoes of an Upper East Sider. Lastly, everyone's so incredibly nice (you'd expect them to be snooty but there are absolutely no airs here), though, I would dress nice and perhaps not show up in sweats if I was gonna go. Haha. There is also an adorable little heated courtyard cafe that serves up ready made sandwiches, teas and (not so yummy) macaroons. But very nice and pretty to sit at. The service at Dear Irving is top notch, they are reliable and quick. They understand the difference between providing privacy and providing assistance. Great date night spot.

The view is gorgeous and sweeping. The service is attentive and professional. The drinks are sophisticated. I ended up here because I saw a video about their gin and tonic. Sounds simple, but it's one of my favorite drinks, and I'm always looking for someone who can do it well. I ordered their "dear G&T" and it was a fruity, complex riff on my old favorite. I also got the foreign forage, "a bourbon smash with a mint zing." It was also a delicious take on a classic. They have several types of cocktails, all broken down by spirit and flavor profile. They also offer a lot of spirits made in New York State. They have cocktails with earthy notes, fruity notes, fancy martinis, and a section boasting limited edition and special spirits, if you're "feeling fancy" and wanna cough up 35 bucks instead of 20 or 25! They have a bar snacks menu (sliders, nuts, and the like). I had their thick cut fries and they were light, seasoned, and tasty. I couldn't stop eating them. Midtown or not, I highly recommend this spot, which also has a couple other locations, including Gramercy.
