I stopped in to New Basin Distillery to check it out (it was good), and asked for a recommendation for dinner... They suggested this place. And gave me a coupon for a free cocktail, cool. The space is fine, it lacks character - I dunno, it needs 'something' but I don't know what... so we'll just settle with - it's fine. The first girl that greeted me was ok - she kind of seemed annoyed. A different gal brought over my drink, and she seemed equally annoyed - she wasn't very friendly. I mean, she didn't do anything 'wrong' she just seemed very unhappy and bothered that I was there. I did not like the drink. And a guy that I'm guessing is the owner? Chef? Both? Asked how I liked it, I said it was ok, I guess... he offered to make me something else, but I didn't want to be a bother - so i said no thanks. I also didn't want to be that guy - I mean, it was a free drink... so I left it 98% full. The food. I wanted to try a few things, so I got the pork street tacos, wings, and sweet potato fries. First, the plating was weird - a plastic basket for the fries, a square white plate for the wings, and a thick wooden serving (charcuterie type) board for the tacos? It didn't go together, it was just strange. The tacos were super greasy. They were good, but there was grease everywhere. The wings were the smallest wings I have ever experienced in my life. They were ok, nothing stood out about them (except how exceptionally small they were)... The sweet potato fries weren't good. They didn't seem to be fried all the way? They were hard in the middle and soggy on the outside - like they weren't cooked/fried all the way? The owner, chef guy asked again if he could make me another drink - I declined. We came by on a Saturday night exhausted after a 10-hour motorcycle ride on a Memorial Day weekend. We barely found vacancy at a questionable motel in town. All other motels within a hundred miles were booked and the same with campsites. Let's just say, we were hungry and wanted some drinks. Unfortunately, they had just stopped serving food when we arrived. We were headed out to go to the res8across the street but one of the rmployees stopped us and stated they will make an exception. They have a nice outdoor seating area and the weather was perfect for it at the time. Hubby had a Mexican Porter and Jambalaya. I had their Crab Cakes, which was served on a bed of lettuce that had a vinaigrette dressing. The crab cakes were ok. It didn't work too well when mixed with the flavors of the vinaigrette. I was just hungry! Hubby enjoyed his meal. The jambalaya was flavorful and he enjoyed his mexican porter. Unfortunately, he couldn't have another one as we were both riding our bikes. The staff were very friendly and attentive with the exception of an older gentleman who was abrupt when he took our order, which he forgot to put in so it was never made. A sweet gal came out and apologized and asked us what we ordered again so the kitchen staff can make our meals. We didn't let this bother us we were enjoying ourselves outside. Although we were outside, the staff haven't forgotten about ud and would ask if we needed anything. Excellent service here!! At first my friend and I thought they may not have been open on the Sunday we visited. They were open, they just didn't have any customers. Several people wandered in during our visit, but it's not overly busy. If I remember correctly, the bar tender was baby sitting her kid at the same time as trying to work. I can't speak for the drinks, but I can speak for the food which was the purpose of our visit. The food is disappointing in general. The restaurant has what you would expect to find from a short order type place like a bowling alley. The prices for items were several dollars more for most items that you would expect to pay if it were good. The food isn't bad, just nowhere worth the price point they're trying to charge. If you're a micro brew person, give them a chance. Just don't expect much from the kitchen. read more

This seems like a cool little place right in downtown Madras. I drove by it, then pulled over on a whim (okay, thirst had something to do with it). I did not sample the food this time, limiting myself to two of the pub's own brews, so cannot give a complete review. I can add that they offer a selection of cocktails, including the Madras Plateada (margarita) and an HB Huckleberry Lemonade (with vodka, logically), both types of drinks enjoyed by a table of local ladies behind me. Because I had a few more miles to drive, I sampled the Indian Head Pale Ale and the Suds-n-Dust IPA, both of which had a nice, hoppy flavor without being over the top bitter. Food options, which again I did not try, were surprisingly extensive -- street tacos, to a Cuban Sandwich, to a New York Steak, to Jambalaya, to Crab Cakes, to Beer-braised Ribs, and much more. I really wanted to like this place more but the food quality was just ok as was the service. Drinks came out slow (20 min for a cocktail). The pizza was pretty bland. Crab cakes were distributer bought, deep fried, and they used plain ol grocery store honey mustard for a sauce. The burger came out with grilled onions (which we asked to minus) no bacon (which was requested). The owner was very nice and gave us some soovees to take home. That's weird. Then, I see banquet tables and tablecloths. So confused. The vibe is truly confusing. I don't usually leave reviews so use this as a warning. I wanted to love this place because it's a local business in my hometown. I'm all for supporting local businesses but don't waste your money. I ordered chicken strips... chicken strips... how can you mess those up? They were so chewy that I couldn't tear it apart or bite it off. My boyfriend ordered a Philly steak sandwich and most of it was gristle. The fries look like the ones you can buy at the store in the frozen section. There was a another couple who arrived at the same time and ending up leaving, which we should've taken as our warning. Roberto has been a key part of several popular restaurants in Bend and Sisters over the years and now he has branched out on his own. The daily specials are fresh and creative. The ambience is clean and festive, they even have live music so check the schedule for that. Highly recommend stopping at Madras Brewing if you are headed to or from Bend. Very disappointing, we went out of our way to make it here for dinner. Sunday 6/18/23 we got a hotel room traveling further then we were expecting because we wanted to eat here. We checked into the room and relaxed took a hot tub got ourselves together to walk up for dinner at about 6:30 and they were closed on Father's Day. No sign on the door or anything. All the lights were off except for the open sign was on, very disappointing. Will never try to go here ever again. read more

This place is... odd. We stopped in for a quick bite on our way from from Mt. Bachelor. The food was ok (we had soup, pork sliders and the kiddos ordered a side of fries), but the service was not good and the ambiance is non-existent. It seemed like the one person there was doing everything, so it took a bit to even get greeted (even though it wasn't busy). And the music was horrific. I know this is kinda nit-picky, but a person can only take so many rock ballads from the 70's. They don't brew IPA, which is our go-to beer, so hubs and I ordered Fresh Squeezed. We were in the area camping at Cove Palisades and decided to give this place a try with our group of friends. We ended coming back a second time. The food was all very amazing. The owner was super nice and asked for feedback, however our food wasn't cooked all the way through, we didnt get everything we ordered and had to remind them to bring the rest of our food. we got the steak and not only was it rare, it wasnt seasoned at all and none of the food had much flavor. we also ordered the pretzel appetizer. the pretzel didnt taste like a pretzel. it tasted like a twisted wheat bread stick. it was dry and tough. the beer cheese was very thick, like it had been sitting awhile and there wasnt enough of it. not only that but our cheese dish was chipped. our kids pizzas were like the kind you got in elementary school. nothing had much flavor and it was a little spendy. our dogs will be happy with the rare steak we are bringing them though. again, the owner was nice. our waitress was nice enough, but you got the feeling she really didnt want to be there. read more

The young lady helping us was fantastic! The pulled pork sliders were pretty good. But... the wings were raw. Ugh! But... back to the nice young lady... no issues taking them off our bill. Now the beer. Their brews are not out yet but got to sample two of them. First, ill never bad mouth a free beer, but I doubt ill be back to buy one, not to my liking. Did I mention how nice the young lady helping us was? Prices: this is why we decided to split the appetizers. Way out of line for a new establishment... and Madras, after all its not Tethrow or Pronghorn, its Madras!!! DidI mention the nice wait staff. I am giving Madras Brewing, one star because lower option. We were recently in Madras with a couple friends and wanted to lunch. Not knowing the whole restaurant, bars, and caverns we looked online and the food on their website looks amazing. When we arrived, we could not find the location because it was not very well identified and look like any storefront strip mall. We saw the outdoor seating, but certainly won't close because no one was sitting outside, and Everything was cold. We then noticed there was a couple people inside so we thought we would give it a try pressed for time. When we entered the establishment yeah honestly didn't look too bad. We were greeted by young lady, asking the size of our party seated. She left us a couple menus and went to get our water, coming back she asked our drink order and my buddy and I both decided to do. Our wives chose a lMadras brewing special. The waitress left and went through the back bar. I've been heard her ask do you know how to make bloody Mary? I thought I was mistaken by the questions that I have heard once again, she asked questions that gentleman in the back that appear to be female kitchen and sad, I cry. She brought us on drinks once we are first drink all week with taste was extreme burning our throats & sinuses, it was like it was pure horseradish and no vodka or tomato taste. We ordered our food and it arrived within a reasonable time. I ordered Chicken Caesar salad and my wife ordered tacos. The looked delicious. Her tacos we to hot for her taste so she only ate 1, the dressing was definitely the the absolute worst I have ever had. It tasted like a mixture of mayo, clam chowder, horseradish and garlic. I asked if it was made in house because being concerned that it was expired. The waitress told me no it was from a bottle. I told her I was finishing so she took it away. The gentleman from the back and offered is apologies here. He told me that you were dressing made in the house and he could get me something else but that another salad would be the same. I ordered fish w/ onion rings. The onion rings were one of the best I have ever had and the fish was delicious but the batter was soggy from all the grease. The waitress only came to our table a couple times during the entire duration of our meal and was at a table texting on her ph the rest of the time. There was only 1 other table drinking at the time. Prior to leaving I went to the restroom to wash my hands. The restroom was very dimly lit. I then noticed when leaving in front of the urinal that someone had thrown up, some time ago because it had dried and appeared to have never been cleaned.
