5/29/21 - Crabcakes on a bed of lettuce that had vinaigrette dressing
    Amie B.

We came by on a Saturday night exhausted after a 10-hour motorcycle ride on a Memorial Day weekend. We barely found vacancy at a questionable motel in town. All other motels within a hundred miles were booked and the same with campsites. Let's just say, we were hungry and wanted some drinks. Unfortunately, they had just stopped serving food when we arrived. We were headed out to go to the res8across the street but one of the rmployees stopped us and stated they will make an exception. They have a nice outdoor seating area and the weather was perfect for it at the time. Hubby had a Mexican Porter and Jambalaya. I had their Crab Cakes, which was served on a bed of lettuce that had a vinaigrette dressing. The crab cakes were ok. It didn't work too well when mixed with the flavors of the vinaigrette. I was just hungry! Hubby enjoyed his meal. The jambalaya was flavorful and he enjoyed his mexican porter. Unfortunately, he couldn't have another one as we were both riding our bikes. The staff were very friendly and attentive with the exception of an older gentleman who was abrupt when he took our order, which he forgot to put in so it was never made. A sweet gal came out and apologized and asked us what we ordered again so the kitchen staff can make our meals. We didn't let this bother us we were enjoying ourselves outside. Although we were outside, the staff haven't forgotten about ud and would ask if we needed anything. Excellent service here!! There isn't much to the town of Madras but this place is great stop if you haooen to find yourself here overnight.

Low expectations but was pleasantly surprised by the food and beer here. Chips & salsa was solid. Tried a few of their beers and pretty good. Tacos & a Philly cheesesteak both tasty. Prices were fair as well. I'd definitely stop here when in Madras.

This seems like a cool little place right in downtown Madras. I drove by it, then pulled over on a whim (okay, thirst had something to do with it). I did not sample the food this time, limiting myself to two of the pub's own brews, so cannot give a complete review. I can add that they offer a selection of cocktails, including the Madras Plateada (margarita) and an HB Huckleberry Lemonade (with vodka, logically), both types of drinks enjoyed by a table of local ladies behind me. Because I had a few more miles to drive, I sampled the Indian Head Pale Ale and the Suds-n-Dust IPA, both of which had a nice, hoppy flavor without being over the top bitter. Food options, which again I did not try, were surprisingly extensive -- street tacos, to a Cuban Sandwich, to a New York Steak, to Jambalaya, to Crab Cakes, to Beer-braised Ribs, and much more. To be honest, I kind of wished I was staying in Madras, so I could eat and then retire to my hotel room. Oh well, next time!

Stopped in for food/drinks after a long day on the lake. Service was atrocious. So much attitude and indifference towards us. Worst Margherita pizza I have ever had. It was a frozen pizza with a absurd amount of cheese added. We were served two flat sodas and when we let the server know, she brought us another one. I would never waste my $ here again.

I highly recommend the pilz. Light and refreshing. We split a pizza and had some beers. Love the outdoor option and really loved the beer

I highly recommend the pilz. It is light and great balance of flavors. We also split a pizza. The mushrooms were so fresh. Excellent stop

I don't usually leave reviews so use this as a warning. I wanted to love this place because it's a local business in my hometown. I'm all for supporting local businesses but don't waste your money. I ordered chicken strips... chicken strips... how can you mess those up? They were so chewy that I couldn't tear it apart or bite it off. My boyfriend ordered a Philly steak sandwich and most of it was gristle. The fries look like the ones you can buy at the store in the frozen section. There was a another couple who arrived at the same time and ending up leaving, which we should've taken as our warning. We won't be returning but we will continue to support other local businesses..

They don't understand what this means.

It sits in an old storefront on what feels like a once-vibrant main street. The cozy colorful lights are welcoming. They have a larger outdoor seating area, but on the freezing cold night I visited, I opted for a seat at the small bar. There were large boisterous parties nearby, it was clearly a popular spot. The beer selection is large, with various serving sizes. Flights of 4 are only $8 here. They also had a number of bottled and can selections, even some from other breweries. The bartender was very welcoming and friendly, as were other patrons so it ended up being a fun evening of beer and fun talk. If you're a beer fan, this is a must stop in Redmond. There are also other excellent breweries within walking distance.

After eight years, Crux is overdue for a review update. Biggest reason is that quite a few years…read moreago they expanded the place significantly, opening up the large room to the right of the bar that opens into the outdoor area. That room is equipped with restrooms, relieving one of my major complaints about a lack of facilities, as well as a second serving station complete with taps. Since then, Crux has significantly changed the outdoor area as well although I'm not certain it's an upgrade. It's a little too landscaped and way too much like a playground now. Locals have always tended to refer to Crux as 'daycare but with beer.' The last several times I've come here, the second serving station has not been in operation even though it looks to be still fully functional. Meanwhile the line to the bar serving stations is often long, sometimes almost out the door. Not sure why that is, doesn't make sense to have the capacity to more efficiently serve customers but not use it. All that said, the beer is still stellar and they continue to have a wide range of beer choices, the new(ish) large room has plentiful high-top seating (mobility challenged folks will need to venture outside), and the music is kept below ear-splitting volume. You can also sit at the bar itself although the vibe there isn't great - it's not like a neighborhood pub bar. Crux still has a kitchen. I used to order directly from them but have since transitioned to patronizing one of the several food carts outside. Being food carts, they tend to come and go so I'll not go into detail there. That said, the new Alpine Smash burger is fabulous. The other significant change in recent years has been with the location. A dispute with the property owners to the west resulted in the access road that way being closed, requiring Crux patrons to use the road coming from Second/Scott Street (or ride a bike). The west road is now open, maybe because the Jackstraw housing complex over that way is now completed and the road serves their tenants. RIP Spoken Moto.
