The guy said it was how it was made where he's from and we wondered if it'd taste any different but aside from being less thick texture-wise it tasted the exact same and was just fun with the pink coloring -Burritos (Carnitas + Carne Asada): great size for the price and tasted great! Closest to a "real" burrito we've found out here/based on what we're used to I'd say -Quesabirria: it was only one with a small bowl of consume for the $4 but it was amazingly tender, full of flavor, and came with the garnishing to bring it together (Jalapeño, onion, lime, radish) -Rice+Beans: good flavor, not dry, and greatly paired with the left over consume (I would happily pay to just have a cup of the consume by itself!) -Torta: I might be biased since it was my personal order but this was the STAR of the show!!! My mom was stunned by the size (spoon for scale haha) and it was amazing. The lengua was delicious - it was fall apart tender and full of flavor. It was falling apart a bit as I ate it but sometimes the best food is the messiest food Overall, each thing ordered and tried was a 10/10! I was especially excited to see they had lengua as I've only found a couple of other places so far that offer it and this has probably been my favorite of what I've tried in this area. The prices are pretty good overall ($10 for the torta was truly a steal) and the guys working there are super nice and friendly. We already plan to go back sometime and highly recommend others give it a try!

This was once a food truck, but now has opened a stall in a mixed use space in downtown Abingdon. I…read morehad researched the food truck during my various trips through the area over several years, but was never able to attend one of its limited appearances. As such, I had an unusually long time to contemplate what Appalachian-Pakistani fusion might taste like. Amazing, as it turns out. Their signature vegetarian dish is a hearty lentil stew delivered over mashed potatoes. I got my greens in by adding pickled collard greens and a seasonal ramp chutney. I was greeted with a resplendent mix of warm and savory flavors that was hard to stop eating. Their chai was a bit sweet and had an interesting spice blend. Availability is very limited, with both a small menu and some options running out towards the end of the day, bearing in mind that they close early. As a full restaurant, it wouldn't measure up. Maybe they'll get there some day. As it is, I would suggest coming early. There are some good restaurants in Abingdon, but you won't find food like this anywhere else.

I do my research and occasionally we drive a little farther for good meals. While in the area, we went to the Abingdon Commons in order to try The Pakalachian. Our first visit we tried the Daal Me Up with pickled collards. It was so delicious, that we had to make another drive in for more a couple of days later. We ordered more food than we could eat because living out-of-state, we knew it would be our last chance for a long while. Everything we ordered (another Daal Me Up, Saag with Grits, and Curry Me Down South) was AMAZING! The idea to marry Indian and Southern cuisines is genius and works so well. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Not only is this place top-notch for the area, it is excellent for any area! I hope to be able to recreate some of their wonderful dishes at home until we are in Southwest Virginia again!
