    Avocado smoothie with pistachios

After a late play at the Civic Theatre, we were in search for some good food to wrap up the night. We found Maestro Lounge a few blocks away and so glad we did! It's a casual Mediterranean restaurant/hookah bar in the heart of downtown San Diego. They have comfortable lounge couches with tables to enjoy your food or hookah. A major plus is their late night hours (Fridays and Saturdays until 3am!). The food was really delicious and filling. The salad was fresh, the trio of dips flavorful, and the meat cooked to perfection. We got the combo for 2 people which came with a salad, rice, 3 skewers of meat, and different dips. We also got the potato appetizer which was delicious. The avocado smoothie was a nice treat especially with the pistachio on top. Our server was Sarah and she was fantastic! She has a warm and bubbly personality which made us feel welcome. She was kind enough to take some pictures of us and at the end, she even held the door open for us as we left! Definitely would return for some more late night meals!

The wife and kid were off doing tourist things while I had some work to do on the laptop so I went here solo for lunch. It was a gorgeous day so I sat outside and watched the street traffic go by. It's definitely not in the main tourist area but was close to our hotel and I knew this was my chance for some Middle Eastern food with the girls away. I had the gyro with fries and it was excellent. The meat was tender and there was not too much sauce. They included little pickles that I can never remember the name but they give a slightly sour taste that contrasts with the sweet sauce. The fries were excellent: crispy on outside, tender on inside. I thought the prices were reasonable. I am glad to see that this place has such good reviews. Based on my experience, the high rating is accurate.

I visited Donny Restaurant in Downtown San Diego during the World Cup. The food was decent, but the customer service was very slow, especially during busy game times. One thing that disappointed me was that the game commentary and audio were only in Arabic. While I understand that many customers may speak Arabic, the restaurant also had guests from many other nationalities. Since the World Cup is an international event, it would have been better to use the English broadcast or provide audio that a wider audience could enjoy. Overall, the experience was okay, but the slow service and limited language choice for the game broadcast made it less enjoyable. The food is delicious! The staff are very knowledgeable on their menu items. As you can see the photos before and after of the food! The music is very good, and the booths and seats are comfy. Bathrooms are very clean And there's street parking and paid parking as well available

The food was tasty, but the service was slow and 45 minute wait was a bit much. They could have bought the salad out while they were preparing the main course. The restaurant was clean. The music was loud and annoying. The lamb chops were cooked well done if that such a thing; let's say the crunchy kind.

    Best hookah ever

This is the best hookah lounge in the entire San Diego service service is amazing literally best hookah in all San Diego hands down.... I highly recommend you check them out!!

This place was absolutely wonderful! We enjoyed sharing lots of delicious food, drinks, and heartfelt laughter. The Lemon Mint tea I tried was truly perfect--refreshing and flavorsome. We also shared the Maestro Family Meal for 4-5 people, which had generous and tasty portions. I genuinely recommend visiting this place. The Maestro Lounge provided us with excellent customer service, great quality, and cleanliness.

Came in after a late night out not expecting some of the best Mediterranean food in a hookah lounge!!! The pricing is great... $128 for 7 people!!! The service was fast to get seated (it was 1 am lol) but the hosts were so nice and gave us recommendations. The food was so tasty and big portion size. We got the plate for two people and it was definitely so worth!! Can't wait to come back

Excellent food and friendly service for a to go order. I definitely will return and recommend. It's also very walkable to and from the Marriott hotel.

Nice place, but unfortunately have no respect for their patrons. It's hot like Heck and they would not turn the ventilation on!

Be…read moremindful because it can be ghetto so if you are looking for something bougie, this is not the place. There's often fights inside or near Myst. Giving it 3 stars because the bathrooms are DISGUSTING. There's only 2 unisex bathrooms and they are often clogged up. If it isn't clogged up, there's no toilet paper or it's just trashed. Sometimes the door lock is broken too and won't lock properly. They have been doing some renovations to their furniture but not the bathroom. It's so gross. The specialty drinks are really good. Especially when the bartender Chase is there. My favorite is the Pink Lagoon. It'll sneak up on you because it is made with tequila. It's like an alcoholic pink drink with the coconut cream, guava and pineapple. Pricy with drinks averaging $15-20 and they have an automatic 18% surcharge on weekends (that is not tip). Food is great. Some of the best wings downtown. The lamb chops are really good too. I wouldn't get the wagyu sliders. It wasn't good. It tasted like an average slider advertised to be fancier since it's "Wagyu". I've had better sliders elsewhere for much cheaper. Save your $30. Parking here is horrible because it's in the heart of gaslamp. Horton plaza parking is probably your best bet if you can't find street parking.

-- 10 STARS. PERIOD…read more Just pulled up to Pushkin Bar & Hookah Lounge in Gaslamp Downtown San Diego... and let me tell you -- this place hit me straight in the nostalgia and the luxury receptors at the same time. I first visited this spot 12+ years ago when I was living in the San Diego area. Back then it was basically the holy temple of traditional Russian & Ukrainian cuisine -- the one and only in downtown SD. Very authentic, very -approved. That cute fancy borsch was literally to die for. And yes... you happily paid big $$$ because authentic Russian grandma cuisine is not supposed to be cheap -- it's a cultural investment Fast forward to today -- I walk in and BOOM They transformed the whole concept into a super chill house hookah lounge + fancy executive bar vibe... yet somehow still managed to keep those legendary Russian gem dishes on the menu. That's what I call strategic evolution. And wait -- plot twist -- they added a full-scale sushi menu. From pelmeni to premium rolls... this place is now basically a geopolitical peace treaty on a plate. If you're Russian from the hood -- you simply MUST pull up. Order the $30 pelmeni dumplings (mandatory ritual). Top them with black caviar if you're feeling oligarch-level fancy -- I mean why not, live once What they've done here is honestly genius: They took old-school grandma recipes... put them in a luxury outfit... added hookah lounge energy... sprinkled executive bar aesthetics... and created a serious relaxation & dining destination. Perfect spot to unwind, talk business, vibe out, or just pretend you're important -- works every time. Huge respect and special thanks to Julia -- the host & bar boss. Top-tier service, warm energy, yet still operating in full professional boss mode. Love to see it. Also respect to the main boss himself -- and yes, go check his stand-up comedy next door. Let's be honest... he might actually be the only funny performer in the whole joint But hey -- quality over quantity. If you've never been -- you absolutely must go. Authenticity + reinvention + vibes = rare combo Amen

Zero stars if that was possible. We tried to go there once and the hostess told us no if we didn't…read morehave a reservation. Never mind that there were plenty of empty tables. Whatever. So the next time we got a reservation. We showed up and the sign in the window says open. The reservation was confirmed. Lo and behold, the door is locked. Why in the world did you confirm my reservation? Just to make sure we were not crazy, we checked the hours and sure enough it's 6 pm to 1 am. Our reservation was at 7:15 pm. What am I missing? My mind is boggled... fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. I guess it's on me. Never again.
