Stopped in for dinner on a Weds evening. It was busy with a good atmosphere. Kid friendly which meant a bit noisy but it wasn't terrible. Food came quickly. At our table we had a cheeseburger no bun, shepherds pie and an order of fish and chips. The fish and chips was shared by my mom and her husband. They were nice enough to bring it out on 2 different plates. The portion was very generous and tasty. The shepherds pie was ok, my brother said it was a bit salty for him. My burger was tasty. Cooked well and juicy. Would definitely recommend this spot. Friendly and quick service with tasty comfort food.

Maevery Public House has been on my "places to try" list for a while. We finally made it in last weekend. Maevery Public House is a great place if you are looking for something upscale but casual. The dining room has a modern meets retro dining club feel. We started with the pimento cheese appetizer. It came with homemade potato chips and a selection of toppers like bacon bits, jalapeño, and pickles. My husband had a hard cider and I asked if there were mocktails available. The sever offered to make their vodka blackberry cocktail non-alcoholic. It was great! For our main courses my husband had the pork shank and I had the shepherd's pie. Both were nicely presented and wonderful choices on a cold winter's night. We finished with bread pudding which was served flambé. Everything was delicious and the bill at the end of the night was surprisingly low compared to what we expected. If you are looking for a nice date night place I recommend Maevery Public House.

"There's a new girl in town - and she's a woman you would love to hate if she wasn't so disarmingly warm, friendly and passionate. She is effortlessly cool and impossibly stylish. There's just something about her and you can't quite put your finger on it." Sound like someone you know? (Hint, hint) Nah, it's not me, it's Maevery Public House if she were a human and not a swanky, vintage-chic tavern serving upscale comfort food. Everything about Maevery surprised me -- the comfortable surroundings, interesting menu, friendly staff -- and we thoroughly enjoyed our deviled eggs app, my generous thick and lightly crusted fish and chips (delish dill tartar sauce), and my friend's generous chopped salad and tasty grilled (several kinds) cheese. The food was great, well prepared, tasty. I will def come back to try some more dishes off the menu and a drink prepared at the fabulous bar.

I really wanted to love this place but left a bit disappointed. The ambiance was amazing, it was such a comfortable homey restaurant. the service was amazing, the staff was so nice & sweet. where this place lacks is the food, the flavor is just not there. very bland & i couldn't even finish my gnocchi because it lacked so much flavor adding salt didn't even help. the deviled eggs were delish though! maybe i'll return in a year or two & hope some flavor change has been added to the dish!

Always good food and good service. Got right in after our 12 mile bike ride on a Friday playing hooky on this beautiful Friday. It's a small town feel everyone knows everyone in Lake bluff. Everyone is super friendly I recommend stopping in for a bite or some cocktails!

Catching up on Yelp reviews as I visited back in May. We arrived for a late lunch and it wasn't too crowded. The vibe is contemporary, well lit, and a nice space. I ordered a Manhattan, which was decent and overly sweet. We ordered a pretzel, which came out super fast and it was hot. However, it was extremely bland/dry. The Dijon mustard was good and it had horseradish so it definitely had a kick. The beer cheese was too watery and cold so it was not good. For my entree, I ordered the Beef brisket, which was pretty bad. The sauce was very average and was essentially Sweet Baby Ray's. Fries are excellent as they are super salty and crispy! My Dad had the Fish n Chips, and that was way better than my brisket. Service was good and prices are average. Overall, Maevery's is cool spot with some decent drinks and ok food. As a bar, it's pretty good and a nice addition for Lake Bluff. Unfortunately, I ordered some food items I didn't like, but I would be open to try it again.

The place looks great and the service was great . The food tho was not that good. I had the Ribs and they tasted burnt. My mother-in-law had the fish N chips and they were very dry and over breaded. The deviled eggs were pretty good. Overall I would give this place a 3

Pork shank. As shown we substituted spinach side for grits.

Fun place to meet friends for dinner. Upscale casual in downtown Lake Bluff. Food was great. Two of us ordered the Roasted Pork Shank. Super tender and healthy portion on house cheese grits. The grits are a local strain of corn called "Bloody Butcher" with small reddish fleck in the seed. Don't be confused by the menu description. We had fried shrimp appetizer (a little salty in the panko breading) and brussel sprouts (very nicely done). Dinner special was filet medallions and shrimp. Save room for the flaming bananas foster bread pudding. Would return again just for this dessert.

We were looking for something close for a little weeknight celebration and decided on Maevery Public House. A great location, fantastic atmosphere and simple but elegant menu selection. Our server "Laura M" was second to none, engaging and happy to suggest/recommend. Started off with some bubbly and a crab cake. Graduated to the BBQ Ribs and a Pork Chop along with a Pike Road Pinot Noir (really enhanced the BBQ flavor). The night ended with some of the best bread pudding every. So happy with our choice Tuesday evening to stop at Maevery and we are confident that this will go into our rotation of restaurants we enjoy frequently.

I love this little gem of a place! Great decor and vibe! The food is great too. This is what we ordered: -Shrimp de jonghe - Grilled cheese with fries -Pork shank with grits -Sticky toffee bread pudding which excellent Also, the mixed cocktails are amazing!! We got the Rosemary Sour which was so good. The host in front was welcoming and friendly. However, our waitress was not attentive. This would not stop me to be back because maybe she had an off night.

It wasn't so much a speakeasy because it was not hidden, but that didn't really matter to us once we were there . The food was Asian themed and they had different drinks than the other restaurant next-door . I thought the focal point would be a bar in the middle of the restaurant, but there was never any bar that I could locate so that was also confusing. The food was really good. We had black garlic, deviled eggs, some tuna tartare and a lamb Ragu that was really good. So if you're looking for speakeasy, this is not really a speakeasy, but it has really good Asian food so just an FYI when browsing the Internet. The only reason I gave it four stars is because I was expecting one thing when I walked in and I got another, but we were pleasantly surprised with the food and drinks that we received so we will be back.

It's a smallish place with lots of street parking nearby. It was a cold night when we were there. We thought we would have eight-to-ten people in our group, but ended up with seven people. They don't take reservations, but if you call an hour before you arrive with your largish party, they will hold a table for you. And they did. When you walk in the front door, you immediately walk to the right for the bar or dining room seating to the left. They set our table up across from the door. Every time someone went in our out, we had a cold blast of air hit us and that was a bit unnerving. You just couldn't get warm. There was a wall behind us, but apparently another dining section on the other side, we should have sat there, it would have been more comfortable. Our party was debating about getting an appetizer as we saw someone else get the wings which were big and juicy looking. They couldn't make up their mind, so I got their soup of the day: cream of chicken soup. It was pretty good and much needed on a cold nice, but it was just okay and I can pass on it next time. The soup was warm, almost room temperature, so they'll have to heat it up next time. I ended up getting their 8oz Lantern burger. They have a junior option at 6oz and a Tiffany at 10oz. The middle was fine. I got it medium rare with American cheese, lettuce, pickles, and mustard and a side of tots. They have a lot of options and the server recommended the tots. They were good, but no better than anywhere else. The burger was juicy and good, but the meat is not seasoned. Though if it is, I couldn't taste it. However, the bun held up really well despite how juicy the burger was and the burger was cooked to perfection. Others in our party thought the burgers were just okay. Over all, we had an average score of 4.00/5.00. The burgers were good, but I bet there are better items on the menu which boasts the best burgers in town. Not sure about that, but decent enough.

We started out with some bread, butter, and cheese. The bread was fresh, the butter was soft and salty, and the cheese selection was varied and high quality. Our waiter was likely quite new, as he struggled with many of our questions. A couple of items were forgotten upon our original order, and we had to ask a few times about missing items. This was unfortunately frustrating and took away some from our enjoyment of the meal. The food was hit or miss! While the pork belly, market fish, and fries were fantastic, the burger was terribly under-seasoned/over-grilled, the shrimp was a bit fishy and chewy, and the giardiniera lacked any spice. We also found the vibes a bit strange. While the lights were low and the interior had an intimate date-night feel, there were also multiple TVs on playing football games which gave it a sports bar feel. I'd be curious to come again on a Thursday-Sunday evening to see how things might be different!
