Girls' night out for drinks and apps! We decided to sit at the bar. The inside is really cute and the chairs were surprisingly comfy. When we first walked in, the hostess seemed pretty busy and came off a bit moody, but the bartenders were super chill and helpful when we were deciding on drinks. One thing to note--it does get pretty loud inside, so you'll definitely hear a lot of the surrounding conversations. For drinks, I ordered the blueberry lemon martini, which had really nice flavor and wasn't overly strong, making it easy to enjoy. I also tried the Bubble Kiss. The first couple sips tasted mostly like straight alcohol, but after that the flavoring came through more. For apps, we got the goat cheese balls and the pork belly bao buns. The goat cheese balls were okay. They were definitely better with the sauce and sautéed veggies, because on their own they tasted a little chalky and kind of dried out your mouth with each bite. The pork belly bao buns were good and flavorful, but I wish there had been another slice of meat since the bun was a bit overpowering. Still very filling though. Overall, the wait time wasn't long and it's a fun spot for drinks and sharing appetizers with friends. I'd come back to try more of the menu.

We absolutely loved The Board Room! the staff was so helpful and kind, the service was quick and the food was wonderful! the restaurant is so cute and is decorated so nicely. Will definitely be coming back again!!

We celebrated Valentine's Day at the Boardroom and was not disappointed. My rating is actually 4.5 and I will explain why. We had a reservation and was greeted and seated immediately. The restaurant entrance was adorned with Valentine decorations. We were seated at table for two, and it was small. The waitress had to space out our food order because of the size of the table. They had a Valentine's menu , and a martini tower was one of the offerings. When we ordered it , our waitress had to confirm if it was available. She said the tower and flight were not going to be available the entire evening, because of the time to prepare. I would have thought this would have been considered before having it on the special menu. We did end up getting the tower and it was a great way to taste a variety of martinis. They all were good, but my favorite was the Ruby Red Sangria and Red Velvet Delight and my husband's was the Love Gone sour. We started with Deviled Eggs and Korean Beef Crispy Tacos. The eggs were topped black truffles and a bacon. They were very good . The Crispy Tacos were very good. They were savory, with a sweetness from the seasoning and pico de gallo. Next was Firecracker Shrimp and Goat Cheese Balls. I did not have any of the shrimp, but my husband enjoyed it. The Goat Cheese Balls were excellent. The goat cheese was creamy and the mango marinara puree was the perfect pairing. They are served with crostini. They were very rich, but one of my favorite dishes. They were beautifully presented with shredded vegetables and a lovely flower. We ended up not getting a large plate, but did order dessert. We asked our waitress for recommendations and she recommended the warm apple strudel. It was not one of my choices, but I am so glad we ordered it. It was warm, sweet and the dough was flaky. I did order a cup of coffee , but never received it. When we received our check, there was a large party gratuity added and when we asked what it was for, it was gratuity added for the holiday. This should have been shared before adding it. Service was good, but as I mentioned I did not receive the coffee I ordered and we had to ask for water refills a few times. I was not disappointed and would return to try more items.

Such a great spot in downtown Libertyville. The ambiance is cool and stylish, with great attention to detail. I adore the lighting in here! It feels upscale without being stuffy. Service was excellent....friendly, attentive, and on point all night. The cocktails were a highlight...both the mule and the dirty martini were perfectly made. We shared a few plates and everything was delicious. The burrata was creamy and fresh, the roasted vegetables were full of flavor, and the goat cheese and mushroom flatbread was a standout. Definitely a place I'd come back to for a night out with friends or a date night. Great food, great drinks, and great vibes!

After quite a long time of hearing about The Board Room, I finally was able to visit for a baby shower. The shower was on a Saturday morning and the place was HOPPIN. There were 3 different parties happening at the same time. The hostess helped to direct us. The interior is stunning, modern, and very elegant. You feel like you're stepping into a swanky restaurant. Our waitress was very attentive and quickly came around to grab drink orders. She did a great job of communicating what was included with the party. The peach mimosa was both beautiful and tasty! We had a nice selection for our luncheon, it was hard to decide. The Brussels sprouts Caesar salad was huge. The overall flavor was Brussels sprouts, but the cheese, croutons, and poached egg were nice for texture. It really felt like the same bite over and over again, which had me wishing I had split my entree with my friend to have been able to try two different things. Overall service and ambiance were excellent, but the food left me wanting. I would be very interested in visiting during regular business hours to get the full experience.

What an incredible place!!! I took my mom here to celebrate her 75th birthday. Our server Susi was so wonderful! She was very attentive and she really made my mom's birthday extra special!!! The rest of the staff was also so nice and kind. One of the other waiters stopped at our table and congratulated my mom! I thought that was so nice of him! The food and drinks were very delicious!!! I highly recommend this restaurant! I will definitely go back!!!

Board Meeting Minutes 2025.3.8. 12:30 pm The Board Room, 137 Lake St, Libertyville, IL Meeting called to order by Karyn M. In attendance, Karyn M and JO. Karyn M and JO attended brunch at The Board Room in Libertyville. It was a little difficult to find, not on the Main Street but accessible from the parking lot (lots of parking spaces). It was quite a boisterous atmosphere, with one of the rooms taken by a private party (bridal shower? Birthday?). Karyn M and JO were seated by the bar, quite a lot of patrons were present, enjoying the nice weather and pleasant day. It's a fun ambience but a little too loud for the elderly JO. There were many interesting items on the brunch menu, mostly breakfast items but also burgers too. Karyn ordered the Chilaquiles and a mixed berry mule (mocktail) and JO selected the avocado toast. The restaurant was crowded so it took a while to order and be served. The avocado toast was fine. The chilaquiles came with two sauces (warmed), eggs, chips and a few dabs of cheese and not much else. It tasted fine, but it was just chips, eggs and sauce. The restaurant is also known for the charcuterie boards so perhaps a return visit would be better with a board and drinks. Other patrons were socializing and having fun so maybe thus was not the place for lunch and conversation. Move to adjourn the meeting.

Cool vibe inside, I enjoyed the gatsby-esque moody decor. A great spot for late night bites, I ordered the Riesling and the small charcuterie board. It was plenty of food for two people and a good variety of choices! You do not pick your board, it's pre-set but it was fantastic. I will be coming again!

I was really impressed with the tuna!!! It was incredible and silky and flavorful. My hard-to-please boyfriend enjoyed the pasta but thought the noodles "cooled down too fast" (not entirely sure what that means LOL). Service was quick and friendly and the place is just so stylish.

So, we went here to celebrate my birthday with some friends. We made a reservation for 730 for a party of 7 and when we got there at 730 on the dot, it was already filling up. We weren't quickly seated as they said they had to clean up a table which was fine. When we were finally seated, our server immediately asked for our drink orders which we placed. I had been there before so I knew what small plates I wanted to order for the table while the rest of my party was looking for what they wanted to order for their main meal. I had ordered two plates of the lollipop wings and two plates of the pork belly baos. When the food arrived, we had realized we had no plates so we asked for them. We then initially got six plates and then had to ask for one more plate. The pork baos were good and so were the lollipop wings...however, we also realized we never got napkins. Since my friends and I aren't complete savages, we asked for some napkins. We then were told by our waiter that they only have bar napkins (the small black paper ones) and then gave us the bar napkins instead. After that, my party and I placed our orders, forgive me, it was a large party so I don't remember what everyone ordered exactly. I did order the stuffed pillow pasta which essentially was ravioli stuffed with ricotta cheese alongside some steak. Everyone's food then came out at different times and when we were basically getting ready to eat, we realized we didn't have any silverware so low and behold, we told one of the staff who then gave each of us a black napkin (the heavy cloth kind that aren't bar napkins) that were wrapped around silverware (hmmm...I wonder where these black napkins were when we asked for napkins initially but I digress.....) When I received my dish, it was okay. For some reason, there was a bit of a sweetness to the cream sauce or the ravioli that I could taste and I wasn't a fan. The steak was perfectly cooked though which is a plus. I just don't think I would get this dish again. However, my friends did vocalize that they liked their dishes which was a good thing! Alright, fast forward to....everyone is eating, drinking and enjoying their food and the lights dim for....a romantic ambiance, I guess. Then! A parked car's headlights randomly go on and are shinning through the window right in front of our table. Not quite sure how long this was going on for but for sure felt like a lifetime. Eventually, the headlights were turned off and we could continue eating our meals in peace. Luckily, we were all drinking our alcoholic drinks and mocktails because despite numerous time of asking for water, we didn't get our water until all of us were basically done with our meals. Talk about bad timing and parched throats. (Don't worry--no humans were dehydrated in the writing of this review.) Anywho. I had been to this place one other time and I had an excellent experience (with the exception of a billing snafu) but this time, it was like their customer service did a 180. For the price you pay to eat and drink here, you would figure you would have the right supplies including napkins, water, and utensils to enjoy your meal with at the beginning of the meal and not towards the middle or end. I understand this place is busy but just make sure that all your patrons are being taken cared of efficiently and effectively. Apart from the first time I've been here, the customer service this time is severely lacking. It takes away from the fact that although the food is pretty good, we didn't have the right things needed to thoroughly enjoy our meals. This is sad and makes this current experience quite luster, hence the drop in stars. Having to ask for everything we need because we weren't given it at the beginning of our meal just isn't a good look for a place like this, especially considering how much they charge. Overall, I had an enjoyable time celebrating my birthday with my friends with pretty good food and drinks. But for me, a good rating (with more stars) is given not only when the food is top tier but the customer service is as well. Consistency is key and today just wasn't it. Unfortunately, the customer service I received today left a bad taste in my mouth and if anything, stronger consideration will be needed to see if I may return in the future.

Great GF / gluten free brunch for celiacs like me. We went here this morning for brunch and it was great. I got eggs, bacon, sausage, and kimchi hash-browns All right, just a second that were all gluten-free. Inside has a very cool vibe with basically everything painted black with gold highlights When we were there, one room was done up for a baby shower in the solarium and the other room was done up for a birthday party. The price for brunch is fair and I would definitely come back. Sidenote - I did a double take when I saw the bar was full at 10:30am on a Saturday and everyone was drinking a mimosas.... as in - no other drink other than mimosas It turns out they have a bottomless mimosa special for $22 for a 90 min max. A few of the people might have been causing the boardroom to lose a few bucks? Ha. But they were having fun ....apparently Libertyville likes some mimosas. Ha.

Suburbia. Locally owned. Thats great! They promote (I believe) that it's got a female owner. This means NOTHING to me. It could be owned by a hamster for all I care. "Is it good?" Is my only criteria. You tell me if it's quaint or just loud and tacky. (Look at my quick snaps bellow.) Not my vibe. Not their fault I suppose. "Clang clang clang" went the dishes. Lots of yelling patrons. Lots of ladies in bedazzled stone-washed jeans SCREAMING for attention. That sort of thing. Everyone was VERY nice however. Place seemed clean enough. This rating is on the rather large bar alone. JUST THE BAR! No Brandy and they seemed confused that I would even ask for it. (The barkeep was not a kid either. A nice mid-aged gal.) They all seemed confused behind the massive mahogany by my crazy request. (Sarcasm.) It must not sell so they don't have it. Got it. Again, it's MY problem not theirs. But such a big bar... Just not for me. The food I saw looked good in the BIG "Cheesecake Factory" way. Decided to split after my drink order so confused them. Had the water they placed before me and skedaddled. My buddy left a big tip for his gin. (Went onward to "The Firkin" and "The Island" and salvaged my night in Libertyville.Had a great time elsewhere.)

There was a large baby shower so not much seating available at brunch, but we were able to sit at the bar and the chairs were comfy. Bartender was friendly and quick. The mimosas were good, not too sweet but not too dry. My friend loved her espresso martini. Smashburger was just ok but it was nice that they had the gluten free bun option. My steak and eggs was good, the steak was lacking a good sear but was well seasoned, and the kimchi potatoes were delicious. I'd definitely try brunch again here.

Feather Glass Wine Bar & Eatery - Vernon Hills, IL…read more Overall Rating: Highly Recommended Feather Glass is a fantastic spot that nails the wine bar experience with a beautiful, modern aesthetic and top-tier service. While the food is incredibly tasty, a few minor tweaks to the composition and seasoning of certain dishes would make the experience truly flawless. The Highlights: Drinks, Ambience, & Service * The Flights: We thoroughly enjoyed both the wine and mimosa flights. They are well-curated, beautifully presented, and a great way to sample their extensive selection. * Atmosphere: The ambience is excellent and sophisticated, making it one of the most visually appealing spots in Vernon Hills. * Service: The staff provides excellent service--attentive and professional throughout the entire meal. Food Feedback & Suggestions * Mediterranean Flatbread: Very flavorful, but the olives can make it quite salty. Adding a balsamic glaze would provide a sweet contrast to balance out the saltiness. * Beet Salad: Features fresh, high-quality ingredients. This dish would benefit from a touch more salt and a bit more acid (like a bright vinegar) in the dressing to really highlight the earthy beets. * Paneer Palak Bites: A delicious fusion idea, but the execution was slightly misleading and difficult to eat. The bread lacked the expected toasted crispiness, and because the paneer is served in a thin slice, it often slides off, leaving the sauce on the plate. * Suggestion: Try chopping the paneer into small cubes, bruschetta-style, and mixing them directly with the sauce. Layering that mixture onto a properly toasted baguette would create a much more stable and crunchy bite while keeping the great texture of the cheese. Final Verdict Despite these small suggestions, this is a great restaurant that you should definitely check out. The flavors are delicious and the overall experience is wonderful.

There were only two other tables there when we arrived. Nice ambience and decor. Everything arrived lukewarm or cold which is so odd considering there weren't a lot of people there. We waited quite a bit too so were shocked when our food wasn't hot. Paneer Palak Bites: Flavorful and yummy. A lot smaller than I thought they would be and they give you 5. My husband and I split the last one but I'll never understand why appetizers would be served in odd numbers. Especially considering how small and thin the baguettes were. Chicken Sliders: Tasty! The naan "buns" were a little thick though and had a weird greasy taste. We ended up taking the top naan off and eating it like a taco. The potatoes it came with had a lot of flavor but were tiny mushy little cubes. Almost as if they were frozen. Chicken Kabobs: Rice was cold. Some of the chicken wasn't cooked. I had to shine a light to the plate because it tasted off and it was pink. The waitress saw me do this but didn't approach us or say anything. We're not ones to complain so we just ate what we could. Honestly though, we could have went down the street to Pita Inn and had WAY better quality and warm food. The chicken at Pita Inn is always so moist and tender. This was literally pink, chewy and hard to cut. It was just terrible. Ended up spending about $160 including tip and the bottle of wine we had. For that price, you'd expect much better quality of food. Really wanted to love this place so it's very disappointing. We ended up going out for pizza and beer afterwards to end the night on a good note.

We started with Caesar Salad and a Prosciutto and Mozzarella dish. Both were good. The Caesar greens were a little "old and brown" but still tasted good. The Prosciutto dish was really good and fresh. Everyone doing great. We ordered some cocktails that were on point as well. Service was slow - probably had a little to do with being on a second floor of the restaurant. But we enjoyed the pace. Entrees ordered were 2 different steaks and one Bacon wrapped chicken. The steaks were amazing. A lot of places, even steakhouses, are cutting back on quality due to costs. These steaks were delicious. I ordered the Allen Bros Ribeye which was cooked perfect and was sooooooo flavorful. It was awesome. The Bacon Wrapped Chicken however, was actually black on top and the chicken dry and over cooked. My wife couldn't eat it. To the restaurant's strength, when we alerted the waiter, they immediately took it off the bill and offered to get anything else. When my wife passed (she ate some of our steaks), they bought dessert for our table too. It was the carrot cake and delicious. We will be back and enjoyed our evening out.

After several visits, it is clear this is a restaurant that understands the fundamentals of fine dining: atmosphere, execution, and a menu that extends well beyond its steakhouse label. What first sets The Tavern apart is its ambiance. The space leans into a dark, romantic, dimly lit aesthetic that feels both polished and inviting. On our most recent visit, we were seated upstairs according to our reservation, and that remains the preferred setting. The quieter noise level above the main floor allows for more comfortable conversation and a more intimate dining experience. Service was solid, if not especially memorable. Our server was efficient and capable throughout the evening, though somewhat lacking in warmth and guidance. Fortunately, the kitchen carried the night with ease. Every entrée at the table was excellent. My wife's lobster was particularly well received, while the steaks were cooked properly, deeply flavorful, and presented with the kind of care expected at this level. Presentation across the board was refined and appealing. The wine program also deserves recognition. The list is extensive, thoughtfully selected, and offers strong choices for diners who appreciate pairing a serious bottle with dinner. The Tavern is undeniably a high-price-point experience, but it largely delivers the quality and atmosphere to justify it. For those seeking a refined steakhouse meal in Libertyville with strong food, notable wine, and an intimate setting, it is easy to recommend.

We each got a wine flight and split the tacos. Somehow that added up to $99 including tip. Maybe I'm cheap but that felt like a lot. We enjoyed the tacos. The spicy sauce was spicy and delicious and they were generous with the meat on the tacos. Like I said, it was pretty good, now wowed but very enjoyable.

We ordered Casa Bonita Cheese Enchiladas with red…read moresauce, served with rice and beans ($16.99) and Gringo Tacos (3 beef tacos with rice and beans) ($16.99). They also brought us chips and salsa. Everything was tasty. The salsa was chunky and was a little spicier than I usually enjoy but it was really good. The cheese enchiladas were made with white cheese but they were really tasty. I prefer them made with yellow cheese but these were really good. The rice and beans were also really tasty separately and mixed together like I have always done. The Gringo Tacos were soft flour tortillas with ground beef with taco seasoning, lettuce and tomato and also very good. Service was friendly and attentive. There is plenty of indoor seating with a combination of tables and booths. There is a bar with seating for 10 and there is seating on a wrap around patio that appears to be heated if needed and has glass garage door windows that can be raised in warmer weather.

I had a combo platter with a tamale with green sauce, a soft shell chicken taco, and a chicken tostada. This also came with rice and beans. The salsa, that was complementary with the chips when we first sat down, was homemade and you know, they roasted the tomatoes it just had that amazing flavor

The staff here is extremely friendly and helpful. While they don't have a separate gluten-free menu, our server was incredibly accommodating. He went out of his way to double-check that my drink was safe and brought over an allergen menu for me. A quick note for GF diners: The menu doesn't explicitly mark gluten-free items or sides, which I wish they would change just for peace of mind. However, they do have gluten-free buns and the staff is highly attentive to allergies! The Drinks & Food: The Cocktail Menu: It's full of fun options! I had the watermelon martini to start. This was definitely on the sweeter side, but not overpowering at all. The Entree: For my entree, I ordered the Chicken BLT Pesto Sandwich (on a GF Bun) with garlic mashed potatoes: Absolutely delicious. The bun held up great and the flavor combo was spot on. Overall, it was a fantastic meal with top-notch service. I'll definitely be back, but I really hope they consider labeling their menu items and sides clearly in the future.

Very hearty amount of cheese Calamari (5/10): some pieces were kinda chewy. Breading also felt a bit uneven

We ordered the Margherita pan pizza and the thin mac and cheese bacon pizza. The Margherita was my favorite. I thought I had ordered it thin crust, but it came as pan instead. The crust was a bit thick, but honestly one slice was very filling. For two people, it felt like a lot of bread -- but the toppings were really good and everything tasted fresh. You could tell the ingredients were high quality. The mac and cheese bacon pizza was good too, but you definitely have to like both mac and cheese and bacon to fully enjoy it. I personally liked it better without the bacon, but it's still a must-try if you're into unique pizza combinations. Overall, solid first takeout experience and I'd definitely order again.

I kept the order simple and went with a pepperoni deep dish. It was great! Sauce had good flavor and wasn't overly spicy, while the crust had just the right amount of crunch with a buttery flavor. It wasn't heavy on salt either. They made everything how we ordered it. The employees even provided us with plastic ware and plates to go. If in the area, take the trip to visit this or have it delivered. You won't go wrong!

Took my other half to Tavern for Valentine's Day…read more This was our first and last time dining at the Tavern. Some of the worst service I've ever experienced at a steakhouse. The hostesses were rude, and while our waitress was nice, she was mostly absent and inattentive throughout our meal. It took three attempts to get the correct check. The supporting staff and bussers were careless--throwing our plates down, grabbing them before we were finished, reaching over us and our food, spilling drinks, and even touching the tips of our silverware with their bare hands. ZERO TABLE ETIQUETTE. I had high hopes for this place, but everything fell short. They offered a special limited four-course menu for Valentine's Day, advertised as a "deal" starting at $89 per person, which was misleading. Regardless, we planned to celebrate and order what we wanted. The dinner included two appetizers of your choice, salads, two main courses, and dessert. We ordered two martinis, mussels, and foie gras for appetizers--easily the best part of our meal. However, we had no choice of salad, and the one provided had wilted lettuce and was underdressed. For mains, we had an 8oz filet with a lobster tail (which was so small I've seen shrimp bigger) and a 12oz boneless ribeye. The steaks were nothing special. I ordered a glass of Cabernet to pair with my steak, but it arrived after we had already finished eating--I sent it back. The sides, which were also not optional, included mac and cheese, bacon Brussels sprouts, and bite-sized potatoes. All were flat and bland. Finally, for dessert, we had crème brûlée (which was soupy with zero firmness) and tiramisu (probably the worst I've ever had). On top of everything, our dinner was extremely overpriced for the quality of the food. The price might have been justifiable if the execution had been better, but given the poor service, underwhelming dishes, and lack of attention to detail, it was a complete disappointment. The best thing about this place is the ambiance and over-the-top décor. First and last time coming to the Tavern.

Good food, good service, higher prices ( probably because they are in downtown Libertyville)!read more
