While the food and ambiance were good, the service was atrocious. We walked in ready for a foodie journey so we would be ordering a bunch of different dishes to split. The menu sounded delicious. They serve a complimentary bread with butter, but we didn't receive any until we noticed another table did as soon as they sat down. So I asked. And eventually someone brought exactly two over and plopped them down on one of our very dirty, used plates. My favorite part was when the server so confidently plopped down the extremely burnt roll and scurried off. So I asked if they could bring out a new roll and butter. Never received either. To start we ordered the Burrata and the Steak Frites. The Burrata was good and I enjoyed the bread it was served with, but the tomatoes could've been in more bite-sized pieces since they were chunks. The Steak Frites was good too... the steak had the allusive butter. The fries were crisp, I didn't try the onion rings though. I wasn't intending to eat much of this dish, but without asking, the kitchen decided to fully split the dish. Not a big deal and I kind of get thinking. The bread thing was weird. Then there was this weird moment where they just tossed a box on the side of the table and scurried off again. The entire time I felt like my presence was inconveniencing them from doing their job. The whole thing felt awkward and gave a sense like they were bothered by something. Perhaps the way I was dressed, but it's a pub for crying out loud, and if I walked down the street to Le Colonial with how I was dressed, LC wouldn't have even batted an eye or had an attitude when it came to service. I came here for brunch and I loved it! The service overall is definitely notable. As soon as you arrive, they offer complimentary valet parking and once you get inside and sit down, the staff are all friendly, attentive, and vigilant to get what you need/want. For my meal, I ordered the lake forest breakfast. The ingredients were all fresh and the combination of meat, potatoes, and vegetables made for the perfect balanced breakfast. I felt as light as a feather afterwards! I was told the avocado toast and cobb salad were delicious as well. Inside is an English style pub with very dim lights. There are cozy booths and tables that give such a calming aura where you can have quiet conversation for any time of day. Will definitely be revisiting. read more

I recently visited and I'm beyond impressed with the improvements they've made--there must be a new chef in town! The Cottage Pie was hearty and full of flavor, a true comfort dish done right. But the real star of the show was the burger--juicy, perfectly cooked, and absolutely delicious. As always, the sushi didn't disappoint; it's as fresh and expertly crafted as ever. And don't even get me started on the desserts--they were off the charts! Each bite was a perfect balance of sweetness and indulgence, the ideal way to end a fantastic meal. Came to the Deer Path Inn hoping to eat upstairs in their gorgeous main dining room, but they were full (on a weekday for lunch!) so they directed us downstairs. The pub is VERY dark, like VERY VERY VERY dark, but has some cute intimate booths and the menu is almost the same menu as upstairs. I ordered the Chicken Milanese--mostly because the arugula salad with tomatoes and freshly shaved parmesan sounded really good, and I must say, it was great. The portions are enormous. Like, so big that I ate a hearty lunch there at the restaurant, then took the rest home and ate it for the next TWO days for lunch! It's pricy, but when you get three meals out of it, you really can't complain. I tasted the lemon chicken, too, and that was also delicious. read more

Food was really good. The meatball appetizer was very tasty. In English meat dish with mashed potato rim was delicious. Atmosphere was nice. We sat in the bar because the main dining room was booked. Would love to try the main dining room with a reservation beforehand as it appears to be a popular place. read more

Perfect pub. This is a terrific pub with adult atmosphere in a gorgeous inn. If you want a pub date night this great. Food is obviously the best pub food you can get anywhere. Eat here and head over to highwood for live music. read more

Traditional style English Pub, located in the Deerpath Inn smacks of old world charm. Went here for the first time on Christmas Eve; it was pretty packed so we weren't able to sit in the room by the bar which I think is the coziest but we still had a really nice experience. We plan to go back and sit by the bar. We all enjoyed our meals. Hubby had the dover sole, daughter the lobster and scallop risotto and son and I had the pub burger. The risotto was very good and had large pieces of lobster in it. My burger was very tasty as well. I loved the brioche bun. The fries were the only disappointing aspect of the meal. Worth the climb downstairs to this intimate bar and casual restaurant with British flair. We skipped the sushi(sushi in a British pub?) for a hamburger and fish and chips. Excellent value since both were large enough to share. Good beer list, and large wine list. We'll be back again. read more

The White Hart Pub is one of the restaurants at the Deer Path Inn. It's based on an old English Pub as is the menu. The décor is warm and comfortable and the menu is authentic. Server was fantastic. I opted for the fish and chips. They served one fillet, but it was massive! Cooked perfectly and flakey. I couldn't finish it because it was so big. My daughter had the cobb salad. Again, a good size portion that she could not get through. My wife chose the Cornish pasty. Now my wife is something of an Anglifile and is an expert on all things English. She is always on the lookout for authentic food from her favorite part of the world. She has tried pasties from all over the USA and is usually disappointed. But the pasty from the White Hart is the best she has had since she was in England. Again, the portion was more than enough. The only thing that drops this place from 5 stars to 4 is that it is pricey. That may be too harsh of a critique based on its location. We'll definitely be back and I may have to change my opinion and rate it higher. read more

First of all the service was terrible it took 30 mins to get 1 drink. the food was mediocre at best $90 for a salad and a burger and 2 soups and 1 desert and 1 drink each which they said they took off the bill. I can see why this place received such great reviews because the food and environment are excellent. The service, however sucks. We were seated and rushed by a waiter named William,not concerned with providing a good experience or service. He was overtly irritated when, after 30 seconds, we were not ready to order. He came back again rushing for the order but since it was a birthday celebration were not in a hurry. I asked for another cocktail because he didn't and he never did again. Never asked if we wanted starters and we had to ask for a dessert menu. He never came back and asked if everything was good , or if we wanted another drink. As I mentioned the food and atmosphere are great but the service horrific. I would have expected more from an institution like this. read more

beautiful hotel. quaint interiors: the white hart pub feels like it was lifted straight out of england. HOWEVER. the service and the food were meh. we visited for a late lunch today (for a birthday celebration) ... service was slow: after a brief interlude where we weren't greeted and then had to ask where we could sit (in a nearly empty restaurant) we sat for a bit and then were presented with lunch menus. shortly afterward, the server came round to take our order, after which he asked if we wanted drinks: "soda, iced tea, water" and only after someone at the table asked if they had beer were we presented with drink menus. we each ordered something different from the menu. all of it was average at best (the shepherd's pie was the standout but a low bar to clear). i have no idea why the service was so poor. they weren't terribly busy, they didn't seem understaffed. it was just a general level of indifference. disappointing experience on the whole. this was our second visit and i'm not motivated to make it a regular spot. the pub certainly wasn't interested in our business. read more

Wonderfully casual pub with exceptional fare located in the Deer Path Inn. Warm and inviting atmosphere. Friendly and competent service. Was able to watch college football on one of at least two televisions this afternoon while we ate lunch. Highly recommend Churchill's Salad (heart of romaine, stilton, bacon, peas, and blue cheese dressing) and the White Hart Pub Burger (w/caramelized onion, cheddar, fries, and a dill pickle). Husband loves the Caesar Salad (with salmon or chicken) and the Chicken Soup. French Onion Soup is an absolute must as well. Pub has it's own menu, however, we've been offered the English Room's menu as well. Same great menu in a much more casual atmosphere. Either way, you can't go wrong. read more

I haven't eaten here but I've been in a few times for drinks. I like that this place is somewhat hidden in the basement of the Deer Path Inn. They have a solid cocktail list and it's really fun to watch the guys make drinks. They have a nice selection of spirits also. The decor here may be one of my favorite parts. It's very warm and inviting! A lot of wood which reminds me of avec downtown but White Hart has more of a lodge feel to it. Worth checking out! read more
