Their famous Fish & Chips!! Yummy!

It is a cute hidden gem. Feels like an old pub in London. Service is good & food is good. On a cold weather night - it's the best place! Portions are good too.

Traditional style English Pub, located in the Deerpath Inn smacks of old world charm. Went here for the first time on Christmas Eve; it was pretty packed so we weren't able to sit in the room by the bar which I think is the coziest but we still had a really nice experience. We plan to go back and sit by the bar. We all enjoyed our meals. Hubby had the dover sole, daughter the lobster and scallop risotto and son and I had the pub burger. The risotto was very good and had large pieces of lobster in it. My burger was very tasty as well. I loved the brioche bun. The fries were the only disappointing aspect of the meal. Mine weren't quite cooked enough. I would have liked a softer center. Our server, William was excellent! Really prompt and attentive on a very busy night!-

Dude..... the fish and chip batter was utter perfection. The dish was ruined by not seasoning the fish before putting in the batter. No matter how much vinegar and salt I put on, it tasted of nothing. What a waste

Fish and chips you'll need to share(Unless you're a linebacker for the Bears).

There were only two cars in the entire parking lot the bartender prepared an entire Atlantic cod, deep-fried that was 14 inches long and at some .2 inches thick for $20. We love the tartar sauce and ate almost all the fish. We also ordered a hamburger which was a little bit too overdone, but came with a heaping pile of french fries. The downfall of this place is the inside. There's definitely some improvements that could be made to the ceiling, but how do you improve a building that's over 100 years old with eight layers of paint? The one or two guys at the bar couldn't hold a conversation for 10 seconds without cussing , putting down women and expletives telling stupid stories as 30-year-old single drunk people would surrounded by other adults but I took my 10-year-old in here to try the fish. I guess you can't control what other patrons do. There were some tables outside that we could've moved our food and trays too but thought we'd just take the 25 minutes and endure inside. Cudos again to the nice bartender/server.

The fish was fresh, and the batter was light and crispy - too much to eat for one person! YUM! Don't go here if you are in a hurry as the bar is small and there is limited staff. Some reviews say it is divey, to me it is just a neighborhood bar, friendly, chill staff, that serves a great fish fry. Get there early if you want to sit at a table as there are not that many, but you can also eat at the bar. We sat there for a few hours and it did not smell like septic and the beer did not come out all foam. So try this local neighborhood gem.

The interior of this spot is kinda small, but in the summer months, the outdoor patio really shines! The bartender was funny and friendly during our quick interaction!! Lake Bluff Brewing Company has been in business quite a few years. A kind of limited amount to choose from but these are well crafted. The prices are okay if a bit higher. Came in and we got a table so we could drink and eat. It's only got beers but you can bring in stuff. There's plenty of places within a fast walk. As for the beers here, the selection is kind of limited. It's about $7 a pint. Best one we got was the Sour Belgian Monkey Strong Ale. It's 9% ABV and certainly strong. For food we went to The Otherdoor. It's about $11 for a few tacos. Also Maevery Public House is next to here. There's lots of close by restaurants and stores. Have a good time with beers and games. It's just beers on the menu but you can still bring in stuff. They're open every weekday and open longer on weekends.

Sadly they had no tap beer due to a wedding the night before. (Never heard that one before...) We ended up with a gin and tonic and a Sea Breeze. The majority of the patrons seemed to be Hotel guests or business meeting attendees enjoying a quick meal and a drink before ending the work day. The restaurant, located in the Hotel lobby, has a large bar and offers partial booth and table seating. The menu offers basic appetizers, salads, burgers, sandwiches and offers a few entrée selections. The cod in the fish & chips was good; however, the fries were limp and did not taste fresh. The grilled garlic chicken and asparagus was pretty good and the server was great! I would definitely go back if I had a colleague staying at the hotel; however, wouldn't seek out the Oaken otherwise for a night out. The ambiance is lively, with background music and the bar offered a variety of cocktail and wine options.
