If you plan on buying or selling your home in Los Angeles, you do need a real estate agent. You need the best you can get, not a friend who is an agent or an informal referral. But the best you can find. Earlier this year we interviewed four real estate agents, all of them were good. The first time we engaged Maggie in a professional capacity was years ago when we bought our first home. Because we ultimately settled on a new build, the purchase process was somewhat more truncated/simplified since we were dealing directly with the builder. This review is long overdue. Maggie, Gina and their team are absolutely fantastic. We were first introduced to Maggie through a mutual friend at work about a year before we were ready to buy. Knowing this, she went out of her way to connect with us and coach us on things we needed to prep in order to be ready. Throughout this "limbo" year she maintained constant communication, often checking in to see how we were doing. By the time we were ready to enter the market she help us connect with a lender that turned out to be fantastic (Yar @ BMO, I think he's made the "short list"). Then it was on to "swiping" for houses. We saw a couple of houses with Gina, who was fantastic. She was sure to find comps for use in a very timely manner and gave us the "low down" with the local neighborhood. After a period of "swiping" and seeing some potentials we finally found our home! We went back and forth deciding on what would be an appropriate initial offer. Maggie, Gina and their team made suggestions based on comps but at the end of the day were comfortable going with what we ultimately decided. My husband and I were nervous about our first home purchase in Southern California, so I did a lot of research online on realtor.com, etc., and was struck by the great reviews for Maggie Ding at Compass, particularly about her ability to walk first time homebuyers through a complex process. We reached out and it was immediately clear to me that she was very knowledgeable, thoughtful, and thorough, with a great sense of humor (which is something you need through the ups and downs of buying a home). Maggie and her team are incredible!! My wife and I have zero real estate background whatsoever and were out of our element when it came to purchasing our first home. Gina and Maggie were fantastic to work with when we bought our house in the fall. Maggie's team came recommended by a friend who happens to be a mortgage broker (we also highly recommend him: Dean Wong at CrossCountry Mortgage) and it was nice to have two very professional teams helping us buy a house in Los Angeles from out of state. We had an extensive and thorough introductory meeting with Maggie over Zoom (because we were on the East Coast) and we felt we had good rapport with her. From that moment on, the communication between us was constant and timely in the best possible way. We worked directly with Gina because she has expertise in the neighborhood we were interested in. She lined up numerous viewings for us during the limited time we had in LA for a house hunting trip. Luckily, we found a house we liked and Gina and the rest of the team went into action to get as much done as possible while we were still in town. She arranged for multiple inspections (general, plumbing, mold, termite, etc.), got a quick response from the seller's agent, and talked us through the back-and-forth of the offer and counteroffers. The house needed some repairs and Gina made sure they got done because we weren't in LA to see it all through. She was constantly at the house to check on the repairs, scheduled re-inspections, communicated with the seller's agent when repairs weren't done to satisfaction, and kept us updated through it all. Maggie also knew what was happening during the entire process and provided advice and suggestions as needed. We trusted them both implicitly and they always worked in our best interest. We ran into a repair issue after the close of escrow, but Gina was still there for us, making sure we had the resources we needed to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.
