I always enjoy checking out small bookstores but much to my chagrin this store requires a mask on Sunday. Since the data show that mask mandates are ineffective, and I find masks incredibly uncomfortable and unnecessary, I declined to enter the shop. Please plan ahead if you want to check out this shop on a Sunday.

    Paint night!

Love Maggie Mae's! Their paint nights are so much fun and I always find a few books to buy. Their employees are super helpful and friendly.

First time and we adored the shop!!!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this CUUUTE little bookshop! I really hope it can open it's doors again after this pandemic is over! The staff is super cool and sweet - VERY good with young kids! That sounds like a "duh" point - but i've been to MANY MANY MANY bookshops with staff that clearly weren't cut out to work around children. The shop itself has SO MANY FUN things to offer, not just books! Their book selection if vast and fairly local, they feature lots of diverse authors and genres. They also host events for kids like storytime, character visits, Birthday events etc. GREAT PLACE TO SHOP!

What a great bookstore! Don't let the name fool you, while they have a GREAT selection of books for kids, that is far from all they carry. They have a lovely shelf of YA books, and one of books for grown ups, plus a cool smattering of pins and socks and cards and... You just really need to go in and check it out! And the people!!! Awesome, friendly, helpful and woke!!! They invited in the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to do a drag queen book reading, they have a great selection of feminist materials, and generally support positive social values!!! Stop in and say hi!

I should also mention that I've gotten to know the owner, Sho, who is just a really great business leader.

My Son led me here last weekend when I was in town. There was lots of notebooks, pens, and other stuff to consider, and having a Kinokuniya membership (10% off) was a bonus. David was more interested in the manga books, and we were happy browsing in our own little corners. We both happily came away with a small collection of treasures and a promise to return. There were lots of folks here, making the aisles a little tight. But checkout moved quickly and efficiently.

The store is much larger than the one in Chicago! So of course there was a much wider selection of goods, including a lot more Alien Stage items (know the teens are a fan of this show). We ended up signing up for the annual membership which gives you 10% off your purchase immediately and you rack up points (who doesn't love points) which will add up to more savings. We purchased a hard to find art book. Service was friendly, and answered all the questions we had on the membership, not rushing us at all to make the decision.

This massive bookstore has an incredible selection, with something for every type of reader. I could easily spend hours exploring every corner. One of the highlights is the Rare Book Room, it's fascinating to see these book treasures up close. They even have a copy of The Journals of Lewis and Clark valued at $350K! It's like stepping into a small museum for me. The staff members were friendly, knowledgeable, and always happy to help. The entire store has a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes me want to stay longer. highly recommend stopping by. It's one of the places that makes you appreciate the joy of books.

Aisles and aisles of novels, graphic and otherwise provide for endless amount of time looking over their inventory if you so desire. Personally, I also like looking through what I'd call their impulse buys. Stickers, clothing, tote bags and other assorted "gifts". They have a ton of stuff to choose from and all unique and not mass produced. So take some time while visiting or otherwise and stroll through this piece of history and celebrate its independence!
