He graciously asked us to sit down, and we felt like we were VIP. Eventually, other guests arrived, but our private show was already under way. I was a first-time visitor to the Magic Castle with some friends and had the extreme pleasure of seeing El Ropo's magic VERY up-close there. The Magic Castle is a large venue with many intimate venues (around a table, at a bar, in a small theater) with many performers, and that evening El Ropo was by far our favorite performer of the evening! We've been to many magic theaters throughout CA and El Ropo was super-engaging: affable, funny and highly-accomplished. Everyone in the intimate area where he was entertaining enjoyed his humor, he was tremendous at improv with the various audience members, and as a practiced magic-spotter I still couldn't figure out how any of his tricks worked even though I was 2 feet away from him through his entire show and I thought I had seen it all! Let me tell you... El Ropo was one of the last acts my friends and I had the opportunity to see last night at the magic castle and he did not disappoint. At that point we had seen 4-5 different acts and were wondering what more we could possibly be wowed by, but El Ropo is truly the ultimate entertainer. The combination of great tricks and hilarious jokes and commentary had my friends and I floored. We were belly laughing and ooo-ing and ahh-ing the entire time with our jaws hitting the floor after every trick. We were happy to call it a night after that as nothing could really top that act and couldn't and wouldn't stop talking about it the entire way home. First off, if you are looking to hire him that should tell you something (if the 500+ Five star reviews did not already tell you. We walked into the end of his show and as his name suggests he was doing a plethora of road tricks. He has a slow methodical approach to his show which I felt pairs well with his appearance, demeanor and voice. We later saw him in the parlor at a table.
