The animals are well cared for and when you walk the grounds you can tell the farm is organized and properly run. My son had a blast watching the sheep grazing on the hill, the flock of geese marching around with the lead goose barking orders, the cute farm dog (boxer) and the hen house complete with a rooster crowing and guarding his peeps! The market has tons of different types of meats so bring a cooler and load up! The grounds are extensive so we didn't get to see the other animals. Meat wise you can taste the difference and although it's pricey you get what you pay for! Awesome stop if your in the area.

All of which are USDA certified organic and are far superior to anything that you would find elsewhere. Pam is extremely pleasant to deal with and has a background as a nutritionist and started her farm to grow the best organic food possible after seeing that people were becoming sick after a lifetime of poor nutrition. She also posts recipes on her website which we found to be very helpful. With all the misinformation out there, it is important to know where your food comes from and support local farmer you can trust.

They had a kitchen fire a few years ago, shut down for a year, and completely rebuilt the store/café. It's beautiful, and you can get great baked goods including their famous cider donuts and a variety of coffee/beverages at the counter and sit comfortably in the cafe. They greatly reduced the kitchen space and don't make full meals in house. The cidery/brewery downstairs is still a great place to hang out but you'll only be able to get a few mostly app type food items. The main place to eat is now up the hill where Defazios runs a pizza counter. There's also a beautiful catering space overlooking the Helderbergs where we held a 40th anniversary party. Defazios provides full catering there, from their wonderful main restaurant menu. Indian Ladder provides beverage service, offering theirs and other NYS beer, wine and cider.

I was amazed that one person can handle almost 5 acres of land in sometimes harsh weather conditions and consistently produce great varieties of different fruits, vegetables and even unique decorative flowers, that you won't be able to see in citi's flowers shops. Another positive aspect is that Chris does NOT grow any GMO crops, which is a rarity now. Almost 98% of corn in USA is genetically modified and full of pesticides and Monsanto Round-up herbicides, and it's becoming increasingly hard to find good Organic Farmers who think about the environment and people that consume their produce, and Chris is definitely one of them. Overall I would highly suggest to come and visit this Beautiful Farm, bring your kids to see how fruits and veggies are grown, and buy some fresh produce right from the field.

We parked in front of the shop, and the smell of freshly baked goods greeted us when we entered. At that moment I knew this place would not disappoint. The counter had pies, turnovers, and cookies on display, but we came with a mission: secure a cider donut. It's so refreshing to see donuts sold at a reasonable price. For $1.35, these were a steal compared to the $6 ones sold in the city. (Yes, $6 for a single!) The donuts, which were still warm when we had them, were generously coated with cinnamon sugar. Burger was awful, thin, not cooked through and $12 for fast food quantity with no side. Pulled pork sandwich was ok but not at all worth $14. Came to almost $40 for two sandwiches that was not worth it. Got home and cut open an apple and it was rotten inside. Not a good visit at all.

The baked goods are very good, and the aroma of fresh pies, muffins, and bread reels you in whether you planned on buying something or not. The place is always busy, and sometimes it's hard to park, which brings me to why I have given only three stars. Green Acres takes in enough money to repair the entrances/exits. But again this year, we have to bounce into holes and severe dips precisely when we're trying to enter the stream of traffic on 82. It's distracting and dangerous and needs to be fixed.
