The produce was excellent... my only critique is that it is cash only (I didn't see a sign) and I didn't know until it was time to pay I got a dirty look from the older female cashier when as a courtesy, I went to return the item I could not afford back on its original shelf. As for the items that remained and paid for ...: when I placed a produce item with the cardboard container in my bag I was scolded that the container remains with the store. I wasn't aware and I had not seen another person in front of me demonstrating that you do not take the cardboard container. I was a first time customer that did not know the particular nuances of this store and a little bit of grace would have gone a long way. read more

"Green Acres is the place to be..." Green Acres Farm was a great find on our day trip to New York. The sights, scents, and country atmosphere were relaxing and service was quick and friendly. The fruit and vegetables are freshly picked but the baked goods are the highlight. The pies were still warm when they were placed in the boxes. The peach pie had a flaky crust filled with sweet, juicy peaches that were neither firm nor too soft. The oatmeal raisin cookies were chewy and delicious. Two pies, two cider donuts, multigrain bread, and the cookies totaled less than $45.00. I couldn't believe all those delicious home-baked goods for better prices than our local bakeries! I wish we lived closer to Green Acres. read more

We stopped here on our way out of Hudson, and were glad that we did because the cherry pie that we brought back from here was outstanding. It was the perfect level of sweet, the crust was wonderfully crumbly, and you could tell that it was 100% homemade (not least because it was still warm when we got it through the window). We also got a corn muffin and apple cider donut, which we ate the next morning and were still fresh and tasty. The fresh peaches were so-so, but the cherries were good. Friendly service at the pie window (c'mon just open up and let your customers in if it's "outside" and none of the staff are wearing masks!) and the register. Honestly, the only reason that we're not giving five stars is because of the curt man who was restocking the fruit. When we asked him where the garbage was, he coldly replied: "We don't have a public trash." Mmmm, well, you might want to consider that since you are a farm stand and hygiene should be a consideration, but you do you! Check or cash only and despite the grumpy garbage guy, we'll be happy to come back again next time. read more

After a relaxing weekend with friends up in the Catskills I decided to stop here on the way home back to NJ. Oh man this place is something else. I live 90 minutes away but honestly if I lived any closer it would be a problem because I would be here daily eating the donuts and pies. My family has been stopping at Green Acres on our way back to NYC for more than a decade. They make amazing pies (strawberry rhubarb is my fave), breads and baked goods, and sell produce, flowers, and eggs from their farm. Things are reasonably priced-- $3.95 for a dozen pastured eggs, 50c/lb peppers, etc. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. Also, since baking is done on site, the whole store smells AMAZING. I want to bottle that smell of baking pies and keep it for insta-coziness on cold, dark winter days. read more

I've been wanting to come here for years since their pies are the stuff of legend, and I was not disappointed. I was afraid there wouldn't be any left since it was 2:00 PM on an autumn Saturday, but there was a good selection, and they seemed to still be pumping them out! The place was heavy with the heavenly aroma of warm pies. Our pie was still very warm from the oven and the only reason I didn't dig in right in the car is because I didn't have a fork. The smell was killing me on the way home. We picked a apple raspberry pie because I've never heard of that combo and thought that it'd be a good test of their abilities. Well, it was great. Perfect buttery crust. It's up there with Portage Pies in Westfield, NY as the best pie I've ever had. And it was $13.75 which is a very good price. These are the best and most reasonably priced pies in the hudson valley. Plus, their corn and other veggies are top notch as well. The staff is lovely and helpful. But, did I mention the pies??? We could not believe how delicious their cookies were (we had the oatmeal raisin, the chocolate chip and the peanut butter ones, and each one was better than the last). They also have delicious and very reasonably priced fresh pies (we were big fans of the apple pie). And, their apple cider donuts are the best in town. They're the perfect size and aren't overly sweet...just right. I also bought loaves of bread, which were also very good and priced well, and a jar of their hot pepper jelly. My husband made fun of me for getting the jelly, and now he's the jelly's biggest fan and upset we won't have any until next season. Booooo! My family ordered 3 pies for Thanksgiving dinner, upon opening the order... it was clear that the pies were in fact NOT homemade. Maybe they baked them in an oven themselves? But they do not bake their own pies. Such a disappointment and waste of money. The crust itself gives the pies away. It probably would have been better to get Mrs. Smiths pies in the freezer aisle of the grocery store. The peach pie- completely hard as rock peaches. When you speak to the workers here, they all look around for answers and look like your bothering them... after the actual "pie lady" retired, it seems like kids run the place no real welcoming at all, which is kinda disappointing. The bread is so good, it sells out before it even cools down. Keep your eyes open for the Rocky Road cookies. And make sure to come during Heirloom Tomato season. My husband and I were looking up farms to buy produce for the way back to NYC. This place was great! They had a nice variety of fruits and vegetables including Japanese green peppers which can be hard to find. We ended up buying heirloom tomatoes, cherry bomb peppers, red onions, garlic, bread, pumpkin butter and a strawberry and cheese baked good. The prices were reasonable and the staff was friendly. I have seen them making and baking the pies myself! They are homemade and the best pies ever! I stop there every chance I get. Have been going here for 12 + years!! Highly recommend. Peach pies are the best! Peaches are cooked perfectly with a slight crunch, not mushy. Wide variety and we have tried them all. I am a firm believer of supporting our farmers and will shop the local stands as much as possible but in this case I doubt that I will ever make this place my first choice Some of their products are decent. The muffins are good the crops are also good but pricey and on more than a few occasions the pies are under cooked and the bottom crust gooey so I stopped buying them. The reason for the 1 Star is the customer service. When I mentioned the undercooked pies (they are not cheap) their comment was too bad They are nasty short tempered and have no etiquette whatsoever. Green Acres is only open from July-November due to the short growing season upstate, which means everything is guaranteed seasonal and fresh! Oftentimes just-picked corn and veggies are being added to the piles as I'm standing there. The pies are the best around- I just wish the bakery was open year-round so I wouldn't have to stockpile frozen pies. I stopped at the farm stand on a whim and the smell of fresh baked pie was so incredible I had to buy one. The peach pie was magnificent. I just destroyed a whole week's worth of healthy eating in one sitting - but it was worth it! The apples and grape tomatoes were incredible, too. I don't agree with "Larry's" review, dealing with store owners who have the personality of a tree stump is part of the rural charm of traveling in upstate NY. We love it , the apple raspberry is our favorite. The cookies are all freshly made as well. I was in the store a few years back and was on my way home. When I walked in there were only 3 pies left and since I was buying some for my neighbors as well I said I'll take all 3. The person behind the counter said that they couldn't sell me all 3 because then they wouldn't have any pies left to sell to other customers . I looked around and didn't see anyone else in the store but assumed it was some kind of cutting edge upstate NY business logic. The apple pie was too sweet and the apples were hard and in a thick heavy syrup. I got a supermarket pie that tasted like $3 dollars. For $13 dollars, I expected to receive a fresh apple pie that is used with the apples from their grove. When you go there, make sure you are getting a fresh pie and not with filling that came from a can. read more
