While waiting for the Highway Patrol, I called the closest auto shop- Affinity Auto- to see if they could be sure my car would be able to drive back to St. Augustine that night. The entire staff was SO kind and considerate. They made sure the car was safe and only charged me the minimum charge to secure the bumper. The mechanic also noticed the tires were all a little low on air, so filled those for me, too. So nice ! THEN comes the amazing part. I drove about 10 minutes away and locked my freaking keys in the car. It was 5:05pm on Friday evening and they drove to my location and unlocked the car for me! Above and beyond! Of course, the wait allowed us time to look in depth at the Carfax History that is provided FREE OF CHARGE!! I found that many dealers require you to purchase it. My son, brother-in-law, and I arrived right around opening time and talked with Pete, one of the managers. Pete worked quickly with the necessary paperwork and releases so we could take the desired car for a test drive. My son confirmed with my brother-in-law and me that he did want to purchase the car, and after some negotiation and arrangements, he purchased the car. In our county's current car shortage situation, a decision needed to be made sooner than later. Pete was great to work with - he knows the vehicles and history - and explained the whole purchase process and what each disclosure, agreement, and acknowledgement meant. No worries here about the "old-time" car salesman routine! I whole-heartedly recommend the dealer because of Pete and Mike, the owner, and the quality of cars. It was being sold by CH Auto Sales, so I inquired for more information about the vehicle using the Contact Us on their website. I wanted to purchase it and the next day I called Mr. Charlie Williams, Owner, CH Auto Sales. This was my first red flag. He wasn't a very good salesman because he sounded angry, was very direct and didn't seem like he wanted to discuss the deal. Also, he was pushy and wanted me to sign the Purchase Agreement only after a few communications. On 15 July 2024, I signed the purchase agreement, scanned and emailed it to CH Auto Sales. Then Mr. Williams gave me verbal instructions to process a wire transfer for the amount of $1,254.00 for shipping the vehicle. I even repeated this information back to him to ensure our long-distance transaction would be accurately processed. He emailed the necessary information for the wire transfer, so I contacted my bank and processed the transaction for $1,254.00 that same day. I will send it back by the end of the week." I later contacted Mr. Williams via email to express my disappointment and the reasons for not trusting him with purchasing the car. On 22 July 2024, I requested a status of returning the shipping payment via email to CH Auto Sales, which received the email reply of "call your banker and tell about this! you a maked complaint and my bank account is locked now!" Now I'm not sure what legal or administrative action(s) to take to recoup my payment to CH Auto Sales, but he needs to be stopped now from doing it again. Mr. Williams' poor integrity clearly isn't consistent with American values because he took financial advantage of me. Please DO NOT purchase from him. Mr. Williams poor business practices and ability to steal money from potential buyer is NOT ethical. I tried the number they have on Google, which is different from the one they have on Yelp. I tried twice and it hung up on me immediately both times. This was Friday and now it is Monday. Still no reply from these guys. Only 2 reviews and I feel like they must be fake because surely someone would have called me by now or replied to my message. Also their address is an apartment complex next to a pool. So...yeah. Sketchy. If your car won't start and it isn't the battery, use a car jack handle and a hammer and tap on the starter rhythmically while someone else starts your vehicle. It'll get you to the mechanic if the starter is your issue. Or get AAA Plus membership and it'll save ya money and the frustration of getting a tow company to pick up their phones.
