The Monorail is a unique experience for Disney parks, so you have to ride it if you have the time! We love to take some time on a non-park day to use the monorail system to explore the Magic Kingdom resort areas (Contemporary, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian) as well as transfer at the Transportation and Ticket Center to the Epcot line, where you will get a great little tour around the Futureworld section of Epcot. The monorail is free/included in the price of entry to the parks. Lines can get long, but these trains hold a lot of people so it usually moves pretty fast. read more

I never realized how huge this park is!?! After being dropped off that the Disney bus stop I in front of security and before the monorail, I felt like the monorail would take us directly into the park but I Was sorely mistaken. The monorail was nice and clean but the distance to the park from the monorail is a cruel illusion. The monorail is reliable and a great way to see Disney from above. Sometimes you can be held at a station and it will take a little while to get to your destination. Wish we tried a ferry on the way back for comparison, but that crowd looked even crazier and more hectic than the monorail leaving the park. It wasn't so bad in the morning, though my son noted it was kind of smelly. At night, it's a nightmare. There's no line, just a mob trying to angle our way closer to the platform. And it accounts for the smell. People are pretty ripe after a day at the park, and apparently the smell lingers into morning. The monorail and ferries are the only way to and from the park. Give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination when taking the monorail. Sometimes it has to stop and hold on tracks for one reason or another. I usually give myself at least 45 min to an hour to park car and ride tram plus monorail to theme park and get to first ride; and that's walking fast and knowing where I'm going. If you are riding from Magic Kingdom to Epcot, or vice versa, you do have to get off at Transportation (where parking is) and get on the opposite monorail; there will be signs. It's air conditioned with seats, and poles for those who wish, or must when crowded, stand. The ride will give you views of some of the resorts like the Grand Floridian and the Polynesian. read more

Holy Mouse Ears! If you go to Disney World and drive there....be prepared to commute via tram from their parking lot to their "transportation center" then via monorail to the park of your choice. They say it is about 1.5 miles from the parking lot....but when it is busy it can take about an hour to transit from parking to the front gate of Disneyland. Just be prepared to spend time in transit.....tough after a long day walking around in the park...tougher when it is raining (and in Orlando it rains a lot!). At least disney makes it easy to remember the different parking lots via "Villians" "Heroes" ,etc. Just be sure to write down where you have parked or text it to yourself. Once on the monorail it is a nice ride. A classic ride if you remember first riding it when you were a kid. Even though the monorail is way old....it never gets old. Now, anyone can review a monorail system because of its fun factor. But have you ever noticed that the express monorail from the TTC to the Magic Kingdom always has a huge line both ways. Take the Resort Monorail and even if it does a few stops, you arrive to the same TTC and virtually no lines. read more

Long lines make the monorail very cramped which is uncomfortable to start but lately there has been a bad odor inside the cars. This is the same system that was in place when the park first opened. Advanced technology that has been field tested for over 30 years. When they first installed a Monorail between Jamaica Station to JFK, I was like, really? It took you long enough. The folks behind Disney are always the innovators and ahead of the curve. There are two loops for the system. The Main System loops The Polynesian Hotel, The Grand Floridian Hotel, The Contemporary Hotel and of course Magic Kingdom. It also makes a stop at the Transportation and Ticket center where you can pick up the Monorail into EPCOT. What's nice about this is, when the masses are walking back to their cars, if you stay at a Disney resort you can get whisked away by Monorail to your hotel. Just like Walt Disney himself intended. He wanted you to have a visceral experience of modern technology for the average, everyday tourist. Riding this made me feel like I was in a '90s Disney promo video. There is an overhead announcer recorded to tell you some info blurbs as you ride the highway in the sky. The trip is smooth and quick, and gets you where you want to go: the parks. The alternative to Magic Kingdom is the ferry, which we did not get the pleasure of trying. My only gripe is that it is relatively small, the cars that is, in terms of capacity - but then again not really when you consider the volume that they truck all over those acres of the Disney empire. If you are at a park late for fireworks, dart for the transportation after or be prepared to wait a loooooong time for a ride to your car! read more

The monorails are so popular Disney even made a pin set of them. Nearly every trip I find someone collecting that set. They are a quick and easy way to get between parks and I ride them pretty much every trip. You can get to Epcot, Magic Kingdom, and nearby Disney Resorts via the monorail. I thought I saw them building more track so maybe there's plans to expand it to other parks? I could be wrong but that would be awesome. read more

Quick for transportation from TTC to the front gate, but they -always- and I do mean ALWAYS smell like some stale and sweaty farm animals have been housed in them. The reek. I compare the scent to Goat. It is unpleasant. They could do something about it, but I guess it's one of those "you can't please everyone" or they just don't see it as an issue things. read more

Woo Hoo! Heading into the Happiest Place on Earth! Based on preference or how long the lines are you can either board the monorail or the ferry to the Magic Kingdom. To me both are pretty quick and efficient. The monorail will loop through a few resorts on Disney property but can get packed with smelly annoying sweaty people and screaming kids. The ferry is a more leisurely ride and does not seem to get as crowded but takes a bit longer to get across to the park. I'll take the ferry over being squashed into a cramped monorail with smelly annoying foreign tourists, or suburbo-trash parents and their bratty kids every time! read more

Somewhat useful transportation. Service is frequent, but the loading and unloading can be infuriatingly slow. Stupidly, despite two tracks, it only runs in one direction. Musty smell in the cars. The Monorail is really awesome. I only wish you could ride it everywhere. My experience on the Monorail was the same as it was on my last trip to Disney. I rode it from Magic Kingdom to the Animal Kingdom Lodge to attend the Hawaiian Luau. I kept telling myself I wanted to ride it everywhere it went, but I kept getting busy with other things. As a lover of trains I am pretty disappointed with myself, but that's not really why you're reading this, is it? The Monorail consists of several cars with two benches and plenty of standing room per car. I am not sure of their exact capacity, but the car I was in seemed to have around 15-20 people both seated and standing. If you are not a fan of your fellow human, you may want to ride during off peak times. The ride is swift and smooth, but make sure you exit and enter quickly. If you dilly dally and miss your stop you will be on the ride for a long time. This didn't happen to me, but it did happen to some of the other passengers in my rail car. I love the Monorail. I hope to actually use it more on my next trip to Disney. read more

Lovely and best way to get between Epcot and the Magic Kingdom, but also a calm way to get back to the Magic Kingdom parking lot. Yes, this does get busy and crowded, but it still is quick (much faster than the buses) and A/C helps. Small cars but reasonably fast (one every 5 minutes came by the station). I think I'm finally ready after returning from vacation in Disney to be able to write some reviews! I really needed a vacation from vacation! Who doesn't love the monorail? Very efficient, smooth sailing, and nice perk to have if you are staying at one of the higher end resorts at Disney such as the Polynesian, Grand Floridian, or Contemporary. They run about every 6-7 minutes, have about a top speed of 45 MPH and the staff are quite efficient in the loading and unloading procedures. Like someone else mentioned, the walk at Epcot to and from the monorail is a bit of a pain in the butt. Felt like I was again in the Peoplemover ride circling around Epcot. On our last day, the driver of whatever Monorail we were on actually stopped the train to make a special announcement that Monorail Silver (they are all color coded) was passing by on the left side and this was something rare and special. I don't know what was so special, but the driver sure thought it was! read more

The Monorail is better here than at the Disneyland Resort in California for several reasons, some out of necessity and some just out of the quality of operations. Here, the system is much more extensive and has more stops. There's more track that you can see if you're trying to view the Resort from a little above. Also, since it runs between more places, the trains come a lot sooner and on a schedule (every 5 minutes or so as opposed to 10-20 minutes). They also run more trains as one park closes or during key times. I would say that you have to pay attention on this Monorail a bit more. Some trains only operate between certain stations and on certain lines. If you have any hesitations, ask a Cast Member for more assistance. This would probably be really confusing for a family with lots of kids, strollers, and other distractions. read more

It's fast, easy, accessible, and a bit more comfortable then the shuttle buses. If you're park hoping from the Magic Kingdom, or just going to jump over to EPCOT for a great dinner, you have to use the Monorail. We did just that... after wrapping up our day at the Kingdom, we wanted to go over to EPCOT for dinner. So we headed up the ramp and caught the Monorail. Not only is it a quicker option, it gives you a nice scenic trip through some of the various Disney Resorts along the way. These old, worn mass people movers are slow and constantly breakdown. There seem to be frequent "traffic delays" when there are only 3 monorails running. They are part of the allure and a signature attraction of Walt Disney World. It wouldn't be the same experience without a ride. But, wow, the multi-billion dollar profits could certainly pay to replace this antiquated system. I've been to WDW every weekend for 5 weeks now. Each time, there were monorail issues. No complaints here. A quick way to get back and forth but not as fun as the ferry. It is faster though. Easy to get on and off too.

You would only ride this if you are driving and park in the lot at Magic Kingdom, and get dropped off at the Transportation Center. After you park, you go through security and either take the monorail or the ferry, it doesn't seem possible to walk there and it would be far anyway. The ferry is nice, it's scenic and can hold more people than the monorail. If you take a resort bus, those drop you off directly in front of the entrance gates, so you wouldn't take the monorail, unless you went to Epcot, Polynesian, Contemporary, or Grand Floridian. read more

Do not take the Monorail it broke down with us on it and the tow in takes us to temporary area after an hour then we have to wait for another monorail to come to temporary area. Absolutely ruining our day! Who manages the Monorail maintenance should be fired! When you pay hundreds to get into the park and most of your time is spent hovering over the water stuck on the rail with screaming kids. Engineer for Monorail, you have one job! Walt Disney's vision in developing this huge area of swampland in Florida still staggers to this day. If you visit Disneyland in Anaheim, you can see how it's hemmed in on all sides and can't expand any further but by doing a deal with the Florida State government, Walt ensured that his kingdom has ample room to spread further, even today. However, that means long distances to travel between car parks and parks. There are trolleys, boats, buses and the evocative Magic Kingdom Monorail. Although the technology is no longer as futuristic as when it was first built, I think that you can't help but get excited by its association with the fun to come at the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. The alternative is to take the boat from the car park to the park gates but that doesn't have quite the same grandeur though you may sometimes catch various Disney characters waterskiing on the lake! One tip for kids, both little and large (like me) is to hang around at the front of the train and ask if you can ride in the driver's cab Walt, we salute your vision. As well as the Disney unit which helps you locate your car if you can't find your car in their vast visitor car parks! read more

I love the monorail. Stepping inside and hearing the announcement is so exciting because it means you are at Walt Disney World! It can be a bit overwhelming when coming from the Magic Kingdom and it's definitely intimidating with a wheelchair or stroller but they have a solid crew of cast members who are usually on it and happy to help get you in with ramps and instruction. The monorail takes you to the resorts, the Magic Kingdom, and the transportation and ticket center. Or you can continue on to Epcot. The signage is pretty clear so unless you're not paying attention it's hard to go to the wrong line. So just watch where you're going and you'll be okay! read more

This monorail is fun to ride on, and clean too! It arrives every couple of minutes, and the scenery outside looks nice. Be prepared to stand during crowded times, but overall, you will enjoy this as you plan to see Mickey Mouse. Have fun! read more

Transportation around the Disney Parks has always been excellent. One of the many options includes the Monorail. Traveling between the Magic Kingdom park and some of the closest neighboring resorts. It's limited to certain locations around the Disney World resort, but for the locations that it does service, it's a quick and efficient way to get from one place to another. We used the services to get from the Polynesian Resort where we were having breakfast to the Magic Kingdom park on a rainy day in Orlando. The monorail arrived quickly and we were at Magic Kingdom in no time. When you're at Disney World, take the opportunity to try every transportation option you can just for the experience and for all the different views available. read more

Is it just me, or was this thing faster back in the day? As a kid, I used to make fun of the ferry option, wondering why anyone would take that pokey boat to the Magic Kingdom when the famous Monorail was so much cooler and faster. On a recent trip, looking at the boat cruising across the lake while I was on the monorail, I could swear it was churning along at a quicker clip. Maybe it's because I was a little kid at the time, but I remember the monorail as being fast. Well, now, in 2012, it isn't. I feel like I could race it to the Magic Kingdom on a bike, and outclass it without even really trying that hard. Plus, I could swear this thing and its stations look *exactly* the way they looked back in 1983. If you're one of these people who never wants anything to change, you probably think this is retro-vision-of-future-style cool. But I just think it could use a facelift. I'll probably still favor the monorail in the future, just because it's air-conditioned; "cool" merely in the literal sense. read more

The Disney monorail is one of the easiest ways to get around the parks without traffic. The only downside is that it only takes you to parking lots, certain Disney hotels, Epcot, or to Magic Kingdom. You can only access it from Magic Kingdom or Epcot. If you want to visit the other parks, you've gotta rely on the buses. The only day we used monorail was on our last day, where we spent the whole day at Magic Kingdom. We wanted to watch the fireworks at 10pm and we wanted to make our 10:45pm shuttle at Epcot. We figured the easiest and quickest way to get there was hopping onboard the monorail. And it was. But we didn't know that you had to get off at the second stop to board another train since it was the only connection to Epcot. If we took the Disney buses, we would have never made it to our shuttle. Imagining all the people who left the park right after the fireworks lined up for the shuttles...no thanks. The monorail had no traffic whatsoever since it had its own route! Really wish it could've gone to other parks though, that'd be awesome!! Thank you monorail for getting us to our shuttle on time...well barely....but still, we made it :-) read more

This is the not so magical (yet very iconic) part about the most magical place on Earth. It gets you from point A to point B as quickly as possible. Now don't get me wrong, it's super fun and there's nothing like riding the monorail to Disney, however, it's VERY inconvenient at times. Like when you have to get on the monorail to get to the park and you're in a rush or when you're leaving the park and you're pooped after an extremely long day. It may also smell really bad (especially at the end of the day and everyone smells really or if it rains and it smells like wet rubber). This monorail is really awesome. I actually enjoyed my rides on here greatly. It is the fastest way to get to the Magic Kingdom and resorts and it is easily one of the most beautifully picturesque rides as well. As you ride, you get a great view of everything this area has to offer - the resorts, the beautiful lake, the wedding pavilion, the park (of course), etc. The monorails come about every 5-6 minutes, so if you miss one it's really no big deal. When I was there, the monorail was wrapped in an Avengers themed ad, which was pretty cool. I don't love the Marvel/Disney acquisition but I do love me some Avengers! read more
