My family used to come to Magic Wok a lot on Sundays for their lunch buffet. It's not bad. They offer the standard Chinese foods that one would expect to find at American Chinese buffets. Standards like lo mein, beef with broccoli, and fried rice are ready and available. The staff at Magic Wok are friendly and keep the food refilled quickly. Decent food for the price. read more

Was in a Chinese food state of mind and was across the street from this restaurant. I placed my order online and waited at least 15 mins. before going inside. I must say, when you go in a restaurant and its EMPTY it scares me. But then again, I know Chinese spots rarely are packed (unless it's House of Hunan). But I digress - man was vacuuming - stopped, came to the register and stared at me. I said I'm picking up an order and he went to hand me a bag that was sitting there. I said that's not mine, and he said oh, you ordered online - yes. He went to the kitchen, came out and said it'll be ready in a minute. So I sat, after a few, he came back to the register and was confused again about my order. He asked me what number I called and I had to repeat I placed it online. I went to show him the confirmation on my phone and he said can you read it to me, I can't see. He went to the kitchen again and then came out with a piece of paper and said I found it, it'll be ready in a minute. I'm rolling eyes here. Finally got my food! Pretty standard fare, nothing to write home about. The Kung Pao Shrimp was extra spicy as I had asked so was happy about that. First time I've gotten that dish though and it did not have celery or hot peppers. It was basically shrimp, peanuts, brown sauce and water chestnuts. The hot/sour soup - I've definitely had better. This one was not "hot" and seemed to have a hint of sweetness. Spring Rolls were OK and the shrimp fried rice had a TON of shrimp. All-in-all, it's edible, but I do not think I will order from here again. Too much confusion and food not all that special. Perhaps I should dine in if I do try it again. But then again, with the family kids sitting around playing on the iPad, that's a turn-off for me. read more

Our favorite place closed (Mr. Hunan Express) so we had to go out and find a new Chinese restaurant... we ended up at Magic Wok and think it's great. They have veggie-meat! Which was a nice surprise for a vegetarian to find. So for once I feel as if I have so many options. The staff and service are really good. This place was a nice find. read more

This food Is the bomb.com,if your looking for quality and authentic chinese food this is the place to go. The hot and sour soup is wonderful. Great consistency and flavor. Although I prefer large long pieces of tofu it was still great. All of the soup ingredients were chopped. This place has the best hot and sour I've ever had in alexandria. I go here sometime for lunch (always carry-out, never dined in before) to take out lunch special. I actually think this place is okay. No fancy decor or anything. Just typical neighborhood Chinese restaurant you can find any where. I've definitely had really bad Chinese food and this place isn't that bad at all especially for quick lunch take-out. read more

Been coming here for years! To a simple order for myself to a large order for my family and it never lets us down! My favorite would have to be their shrimp and broccoli so flavorful and their shrimps are large and always well cooked. Very disappointing... The online ordering process was quick and easy, prices are reasonable (enough to try), delivery was quick and effective. The food was overcooked and bland. The shrimp and veggie fried rice was mushy and flavorless. Not event soy sauce could rescue this mess of unrecognizable, light yellow stuff. The rolls tasted greasy. The sweet and sour shrimp was also very greasy and over breaded. The egg foo young tasted old and more like old pork rinds in a bag. Overall, very poor quality food. read more

We stopped by after picking up a honey baked ham. We've had a hard time finding good Chinese - and this place did not disappoint.

Owner has horrible customer service. No one ever happily greets you and its just not a welcoming atmosphere. They messed up my order and when I asked to fix it the owner said the food was already made and it was my fault for not requesting the right thing. He refused to give me a refund. This place has not disappointed me yet. Always fresh and served quickly. The portions are reasonable for the prices. I always get takeout from here so I can't tell you how the service eating in, but the place always looks clean and customers being taken care of. Best spring rolls in town. Like Usagi T My once favorite restaurant in now but a strip mall address on Franconia Rd. In the early 90s we visited this place weekly. Staff was attentive, food good and flavorful and restaurant well-appointed. This was our favorite restaurant. The last time I went to this now sad, well used restaurant on a non- busy night our food took nearly an hour to come out and it was terrible. No flavor. We didn't eat it. The waiter asked if there was a problem and I told him the food was terrible. He tried it and agreed. He still brought us a check and expected us to pay for the meal we didn't eat. The dragon lady at the cash register told me, "you order, you pay." When I said the food was bad and we didn't eat it she said, "pay or I call police." I paid my $20 bucks and never returned. I am surprised to see it is still open. read more

We brng friends here and there is never a complaint. They will customize the dish to accommodate your request. Bar prices are good. Overlook the dated atmosphere and go for the food. We received the dinner version at 1 pm and paid the dinner price, minus the extras that come with the lunch special. I ordered sautéed vegetables in brown sauce(greasy mess) vegetable egg rolls and vegetable lo mien. It was the worst Chinese food I have eaten in my life and I am in my 40's. it is beyond me how noodles can taste so bad. It came after waiting for an hour for it to be delivered. I live only 3 miles away. When I called to ask where my food was, the person rudely said they were busy and it was coming soon. He hung up without waiting for a response and he did not even know what order i was talking about. The egg rolls was mostly wrapper-couldn't find hardly any vegetables.i will Never order from here again-it was the first and last time.
