Dr. Marshall on Magical Plastic Surgery Website

I've never had such financially frustrating experience with a clinic in my life. I had a great consultation with Dr Higgins, but his accounting department staff has made had this all a terrible experience. Within minutes of my consultation they pushed me to make a $500 deposit, when I wasn't ready, but they industries that I couldn't schedule the surgery at a future time if I didn't pay the money right. Fishy, but I really liked Higgins so I decided to send it over. Next they advised me to get financing secured, so I applied to see what I was able to finance. Not only was I told that I was getting a 0% interest rate for 60 months through Alpheon, I was also repeatedly assured that NOTHING WAS BEING CHARGED to me yet and it wouldn't be charged until 2 weeks prior to the surgery. However approximately 2 weeks later I received a statement from Alpheon. It turns out that Magical Plastic Surgery immediately charged me for the full amount of the loan, without informing me, at 16% interest, on a $12,100 loan. That's a $388 payment! I was shocked, my heart dropped. I thought maybe it was a misunderstanding, so I called the clinic. Apparently the person I needed to talk to was Mary in accounting. So I was given a number to text and call her at. I left a voicemail and a text, early in the day with no response. The next day I talk to the clinic scheduler and was told they would for sure get back to me that day. Still no call and meanwhile I'm panicking about this incredibly large loan with a huge interest rate, checking my credit and seeing it drop over 20 points. Each day I was told I would get a call back from accounting and over a week went by until I finally did. Mary made the phone call and was anything but apologetic or kind. She was very matter of fact and told me I should have understood that they were going to charge me right away and claim she'd never said it would be 2 weeks before the surgery, even though the agreement I'd signed clearly said that no charges would be made until 14 days prior. Regardless I just wanted it reversed. She sent me over a cancellation form that we both signed. She said it could take up to 30 days, but it should be a lot sooner. Fast forward 2+weeks & I call Alpheon. They show no refund pending and said that once a refund is initiated, it takes between 24 and 48 hours. I call Mary again and she says that she sent the refund through, but can't give me any proof. She then tells me that she will NOT GIVE ME THE REFUND unless I take THIS REVIEW down, when I tell her that's not going to happen, she hangs up on me. Not only will I not be getting a surgery through this clinic, obviously, I am now making payments on interest I never agreed to and I lost a minimum of my $500. I'm told I may not even get the full $12,100 back at this point because the clinic is taking so long. This has been the most ridiculous, unprofessional experience and after reading the other reviews especially on Yelp, I can't believe I wanted to use this clinic to begin with. While Higgins may get good reviews, the office staff will ruin the entire experience. Hopefully one day they will reevaluate who is on their staff and do better, especially their accounting manager Mary, Mirelys, who is just as rude as she is terrible about responding. Additional they claim that a Dr. Deirdre Marshall works for them, guessing it's because she is a board certified Plastic Surgeon, while doctor Higgins is only certified in general surgery and vascular surgery, not plastic surgery. I contacted Dr Marshall and she has never worked for the clinic and has asked to be removed from their website, which they clearly continue to ignore. The red flags just continue to add up. Proceed with caution and look at their low rating on the Better Business Bureau. If the matters resolved I will update my review to reflect this.

A little about my journey: after gastric bypass surgery, I lost 80 pounds. Between that weight loss and two pregnancies, I wasn't happy with my body anymore. On July 23, 2025, I decided to have my first plastic surgery with a different surgeon. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed with my results. Just a few months later, my body changed for the worse, and I felt frustrated and discouraged. That's when I found Dr. Tower. From the moment I met her, I knew she was different. During my consultation, she spent nearly two hours listening to my concerns, explaining everything in detail, and making sure she understood exactly what I wanted. I never once felt rushed. I decided to have my revision surgery with Dr. Tower on February 11, 2026, just six months after my first surgery. She replaced my breast implants and performed liposuction on my abdomen, and I honestly could not be happier with my results. The biggest difference wasn't just her surgical skill--it was the level of care she provided. If I ever had a question or concern, she was always available. I had her number on speed dial, and she always made me feel like a priority. In comparison, after my first surgery, I didn't even speak to or see my previous surgeon for four months. There were no follow-ups, no check-ins, and I felt completely alone during my recovery. Dr. Tower goes above and beyond for her patients. She genuinely cares, takes pride in her work, and wants you to be happy with your results. That kind of dedication is rare. Looking back, I only wish I had chosen Dr. Tower for my very first surgery. She completely restored my confidence, and I am beyond grateful for everything she has done for me. If you're considering plastic surgery or need a revision, I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Tower. She is truly one of a kind.

But last night while eating dinner, without thinking, I reached for a knife and fork and used them naturally and without pain! I was shocked! Everyone at the table was celebrating! Dr. Patel is, without exaggeration, one of the best surgeons I've worked with. As I'm over 50, I've been through many surgical procedures in my time, and as I grow older, it's good to know I'm in the best of hands (no pun intended!). During my first consultation, Dr. Patel treated me like a person, not a procedure. He listened. He explained things clearly. He showed that he genuinely cares about me, and not just clinically, but as a human being going through something difficult. That combination of real surgical skill and real humanity is hard to find. I'm still healing, but I can already tell that my final result will be flawless -- genuinely better than I, or anyone, expected. Thank you, Dr. Patel. Thank you for taking such great care of me. Thank you for everything. I'd recommend Dr. Patel without hesitation to anyone in need of a surgeon who is as skilled as he is caring. ~Julie Luhring

He is a dedicated surgeon who cares deeply for his patients, has excellent technique, and is pleasure to work with. Having seen firsthand the results of his patients, I would highly recommend him to anyone considering plastic surgery. A friend of mine broke her nose and he performed a beautiful rhinoplasty. Aside from being a friend and former colleague, I was also a patient of his. I saw Dr. Patel several times for botox injections for management of my TMJ headaches as well as for aesthetic reasons. I am very expressive and tend to raise and furrow my eyebrows often. At age 26 I already had lines of wrinkles forming on my forehead. Dr. Patel was able to do injections so they reduced the amount of raising and lowering I could do with my eyebrows and still look natural while helping to prevent further wrinkling. I was very happy with the look of the results and how smooth it made my forehead. I highly recommend Dr. Patel for plastic surgery and aesthetic procedures. =)

The reviews…read moreare great so I felt like this would be a good choice and so far after two appointments, I really like this clinic and Dr Mailer. Before coming to Sand Lake Dermatology I had a biopsy at another clinic and was scheduled to have a carcinoma removed. I was unable to have this done at the other clinic so I booked the first appt available with Sand Lake Dermatology which was set for the end of July. Once I was able to get my records sent to the clinics, a staff member called me right away and moved my appointment to have a carcinoma removed from my face to last week. Because of the interactions I had over the phone and online with this clinic, I felt comfortable having this clinic remove the carcinoma even though I had not even seen the clinic nor doctor. While I was mildly aware of what the procedure entailed, the staff that prepared me answering questions and numbing me(Marisol and Aaron) were great and made me feel comfortable. Dr Mailer was just as nice and made me feel comfortable. I was of course aware of the dr performing the procedure, I couldn't see it and didn't feel it. The procedure is called Moh's procedure where they typically cut away the determined margin around the affected area, bandage you up and let the patient wait in the lobby while the removed specimen is being reviewed in the onsite lab. If the lab determines that not enough was removed to show clear margins, the patient is brought back in and the dr removes more repeating the process until margins are clear. In my case, the dr removed all that needed to be removed leaving clear margins so after the lab results returned after a couple of hours, I was brought back into the procedure room and the dr proceeded to stitch up my wound applying dissolving stitched under the skin and removable stitches outside. My appointment for follow up and outer stitches removal was set for one week later( this past Tuesday). I was prescribed a heavy antibiotic and advised to keep Vaseline on the stitched up area and keep it covered with a bandage that is changed daily. Once I was stitched up, I mentioned a growth I have noticed on my eyelid and the dr suggested that on my follow up appointment she would take a biopsy. So this past Tuesday I had stitches removed, the area where I had stitches seems to be healing well and it doesn't appear that there will be a heavy scar. I am happy to see this as the area that was removed was quite large and the area stitched was quite long. The nurse, Natalie numbed my face, the stitches were removed and I didn't feel anything. They also numbed my eyelid so the biopsy could be taken. This is a sensitive area so this was a bit more intense but it went quickly and the biopsy was done. I will likely have results next week. What could have been a high anxiety first procedures (I've never had any surgery or stitches) turned out to be a pretty smooth experience. I recommend consideration of Sand Lake Dermatology as the staff and Dr Mailer were great, the waiting room is comfortable and even the staff that manages scheduling, check in, check out, nurses, physicians assistants all made me feel important, individual and taken care of. I wish all medical experiences could be similar to what I experienced.

Dr. Peters originally said I should wait as if I have fat accumulation at 35, I likely will need other procedures as I age. He reassured me that, however, there was no medical reason to not proceed and he would not remove any skin because I was still young. He answered all my questions. I felt safe. After surgery, he told me he removed some skin. I noticed the stitches on my L eye were so much tighter than the R. Two weeks post op, It looked like the outer layer of my eye was sloughing off. Some steroid drops were prescribed but no change resulted. I felt pressure in my L eye due to a stitch that was deeper and too inward. The issue is persistent. My eyes' healing process are very different. I was experiencing pain in my L eye if I look up, smile, yawn, sneeze (still ongoing).Tearing sensation when I open my eye fully. I flew from out of state for an appt. The office rescheduled for later 2 hours prior due to MD in procedure. Then called to cancel 30 min prior. I asked to wait for MD when he's done as I had discomfort in my eye and my flight would leave the following day. Dr Peters walked in: "what's the problem?" That took me aback, but whatever. I proceeded to explain my symptoms. Him: "your eyes are fine!." I replied: fine? My L eye is not fine. The stitch acts as a stop point when I try to look up. It causes the side of my eye to indent when I move my eye. Him : "do you know what indentation means?" And proceeded to tell me the meaning. I replied that he was being dismissive and I didn't appreciate his tone Him: "I told you not to have the surgery but you would not listen. I removed the fat as you wanted. What do you want me to do now?" I explained the stitches are too tight Dr Peters: " you're too impatient. You can't wait for it heal." He didn't even assess my eye before going on his rant. I brought that up. He then made me do some eye exercise and said your eyes are fine. Dr. Peters: "it's just your genes. I can't fix that!" There was more conversation of me explaining my issues and him being outright scornful. The interaction was pointless, so I picked up my stuff and walked out. He followed me in the hall Him: " what? You got nothing to say now?" As if he was trying to provoke me. I just walked out. That man's energy from before the surgery completely shifted. I have issue in my eye not because of expected risks (muscle damage, nerve damage, etc), but because it did too many stitches and my eyes are too tight. The following Monday, he emailed me an apology; saying he did not intend to disrespect me. He invited me to come back. I would have preferred someone else to address my issues. Some doctors won't even evaluate me because no surgeon wants to deal with another' s work. The one who saw me reported that he did see the tightness, but wanted to see my own surgeon. 6 months later, I sucked it up and went back- same issues. I'm explaining that the stitches cause restrictions to my eye. He said there were no stitches on the side of my eye and there was no name for the procedure I am asking him to do (to undo one of the stitches so my eye can open fully). Dr Peters (condescendingly): "tight is not something you can see" My left eye is physically tighter than the R one, but I guess my vocabulary is lacking for Dr Peters. He pretended he didn't understand what I was explaining. I turned to his nurse and asked if she understood what I was saying. She did and repeated it, but Dr Peters was still confused, apparently He removed the fat, what else could I want? Esthetic? Non restrictive stitches? Those words coming from a Plastic surgeon is really disheartening. I wish he showed me that carelessness before my procedure. Pics 1: before 2: about 3 weeks after ( L eye) 2R: R eye. Same day 3s- Day during which my eyes were "fine" 4: current. 5: the indentation that I don't understand 6: the stitches that are not on the side of my eye
