Was in the area so decided to walk in for gel overlay for my brittle nails! Dan did an amazing job! I am extremely picky and very particular with my nails. I always ask for put in neutral by OPI, however, they are out but Dan, let me try 7 different nail polish to find the PERFECT neutral shade for my skin tone. The shape is perfect. Dan made sure I was happy with my nails through out, she took her time with them! The spa is clean and calming. Nail tech doesn't gossip while doing your nails! Very professional. After trying countless salons and being let down by overly delayed appointments when shops seemingly overbook themselves, or poor technique (leading to lifting/chipping/too thick nails), I've become a huge fan of Magnifique. They're all great, but my favourite nail techs are Amy and Wendy :) They're perfectionists. The salon is very clean, their tools are unpackaged in front of you, all the staff are very friendly, there's Netflix, lots of (metered) street parking out front, and when you book an appointment they don't keep you waiting - they stay pretty well on schedule! They are one of the few salons to offer shellac-polish-change only, without requiring a full manicure. Their pricing is competitive in the market (not the cheapest - but do you really want to go to the cheapest salon anyways?) It's true, you usually get what you pay for! Visiting Vancouver for a month and needed to gel fill my extensions and I booked a pedicure too. It's always a crap shoot going to a new salon, but I hit the jackpot at Magnifique! The gel fill is perfect! It was applied nice and thin, shaped and painted a French with a very natural look. AND, I swear it's the best pedicure I've ever had! My toenails were clipped just right, the cuticles trimmed, and my calluses were removed and smoothed beautifully. They take their time here on details. But the extra time they take won't cut into your day because they have 2 technicians working on you at the same time. The salon itself is pristine. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I'm adjusting my travel itinerary to return for one more fill and pedicure before returning to the States. This nail salon is The Best! read more

Unfortunately I did not have a good experience here. The nail tech cut my cuticle badly which really hurt. I decided to leave as it was really painful, and I didn't want anymore damage done. The manager asked why I was leaving and I told him my toe was now bleeding. No apology from anyone! Nothing! Awful. read more

I went for a Brazilian wax (good) and gel nail color (bad). The wax was great, relatively quick and painless although I did notice that gloves weren't being worn by the beautician but the room and equipment being used seemed clean. Nails is where I was disappointed. I had them done as I was going away for a week - I went in on Thursday and by the following Tuesday, they had started to chip and peel away. I sent them photo evidence on Instagram and received a message back apologising and asking them to call me. When I got back from my holiday I called them and was spoken to by a rude individual who insinuated that it was my fault the nails were chipped and that they were almost 2 weeks old and that's an acceptable amount of time for them to chip. Usually, in my experience, gel nails should last at least 3-4 weeks. There was no resolution as they said they would not refund me, and therefore I'm out of pocket with horribly chipped nails... read more

The salon is pretty and welcoming, all staff are super friendly here. I see both Dan and Katie for my pedi and Mani and they are both super lovely and funny. They will help picking out colours and let you know what's popular. I find it super helpful especially for us moms that never have time to ourselves let alone knowing/looking up what the trend is. They always make sure if everything is ok throughout the session. Both Dan and Katie can be chatty and quiet depends on what your mood prefers that day! I love coming here! It's such a treat to be here every few weeks to just relax and get pampered by these ladies and walk out all refreshed and looking amazing again!!!!! I went to Magnifique Nail Spa for the first time 5 days ago for my cousin's birthday, wanted to treat her to a girlie spa day! All in all, a good experience. There were 3 of us: we all got pedicures, 2 of us got shellac manicures and the other a normal manicure. The staff were fantastic and professional. They were very nice and the owner was exceptionally kind, offering us tea and coffee. The establishment was clean and the chairs were very comfortable (at least in our opinion). The scrub for the pedicure was fantastic, my legs felt so nice after! There were plenty of colours to choose from and the staff did not rush us in choosing colours (which was good because we were so indecisive!). All in all, we had a good experience there. However, the reason its not a 5 star review for me is that my cousin's manicure, the one who got normal polish, didn't hold up great. About half an hour after leaving the establishment, she noticed that a lot of bubbles had formed under the surface and the manicure was no longer smooth. On my end, my shellac manicure has held up pretty well. However, on one of the fingers I think the shellac top coat was applied over the side of my nail and onto my skin, as a result it has caused the gel to start peeling off the nail. My other cousin had no complaints about her shellac manicure. I would just say to make sure you check your manicure before you leave so if you notice anything you can (kindly) ask them to fix it prior to leaving, which from their friendly demeanour I doubt they would object. The price is a bit steep so you want to have the best possible outcome! I just went in to take my old set of gel nails off. One of my nails had been broken so I told her just to match the length of the one that broke. First no-no: she cuts my nails before taking off the gel. How do you know how much you're cutting!? You don't. My nails are all different lengths now the one that broke still had considerable amount of length but she managed to cut some of my other nails down to the bed! I didn't bother to have her fix them. She'd probably make it worse. Second no-no: she used a very strong file in a SAWING MOTION to shape my squared nails into oval. Just use a nail clipper! Less trauma and less work! She also didn't clean up the edges after that. Had to ask her to do so. Went to pay. They charge 15$ for removal and their service is so much worse than the salon a few doors down on the same block which charges $10! Go there instead! I would've today but I went too close to their closing. I should've just gone tomorrow. Now I know never to come here again. read more

I debated between 2 and 3 stars and went with two just based off of how awful I felt while there. Nails are fine, well done but not quite the color I had asked for (doesn't show up in camera well but they're quite pink and I had wanted a more beige nude but tech said she knew the exact color and I trusted her). I think this is the only time I've gotten a service done ever in my life and not tipped because the experience was just so miserable. Apparently I was holding my fingers in a way that was not conducive to her working (I've gotten acrylics done many times, and have never ever had this problem before) and her solution to resolving this was continuously hitting my fingers decently hard with a nail file throughout the whole service. I was honestly just so shocked it was happening I didn't say anything, and as she got progressively more annoyed with me for just the natural way that my hands are at rest, she got progressively rougher with me during the service. The issue was that my fingers were pointing "up" too much, but then she would hit and then shove my finger down and I would keep it where she shoved it to and then she yanked it back up. Oh, and almost forgot how at the beginning of a service she made a comment about the fatness of my fingers and how I needed to get a different shape so they were they would look skinnier, not that anyone deserves to have to deal with that when they go to a salon but especially as somebody who deals with pretty bad body image issues this really fucked up my day. Almost walked out after that in the beginning and wish I had. Came here off of a friends recommendation, but will definitely not be coming back. Would recommend Bedazzle on Sasamat instead. read more

I would rate it at 2.5stars. The lady who did my nails was not very friendly and didn't even talk to me. I had to remind her to erase all my red polish off before putting in my clear nails. On top of all that I left with bubbles all over my nails and black lint inside my nails. I do give her credit for shaping my nails well but my ombré nails were terrible. My Toes were painted unevenly and she never even asked if my toes were to my satisfactory. I will not be going back here. On top of all this I paid $100 after tip for my shellac nails and pedi. I was called by the owner after writing my review on Yelp and he was very nice and wanted to see how he could fix the problem. For that, I will up my star to 3 stars. He offered to give me a free service next time I'm in Vancouver, BC. I will then rerate them for their service and the quality of the work. I have to say, the quality of the product is really good here. Hardly any chips and no spider lines even after two weeks of wearing the Shellac Nails. I went in for an acrylic set with french tip and I am SO PLEASED with the results. The employees are extremely attentive and precise. I really like the atmosphere in here but I was a little disappointed with the services and charges I received. The first time I went, there was a miscommunication about what I actually wanted, and the polish for my manicure was not the same colour I picked out. I was very happy with my pedicure however, so I went back a second time. The service isn't consistent among the aestheticians.. my first pedicure far exceeded my second one. I was sitting on one of their chairs holding a pillow while enjoying my pedicure when an aesthetician pulled the pillow I was holding from under my arm and placed it on an empty couch.. minor detail but definitely a little weird, would of been nice if she had asked because I was much more comfortable holding the pillow on my lap. At the end of my visit I noticed my bill was a little higher than I expected. I got him to break down the price of the services and it turns out they charged me for trimming my cuticles? Isn't that part of a manicure/pedicure? why the separate charge? I looked on their website and I don't see that as a separate charge.. seemed like a little bit of a rip off. read more
