I hired them for a big backyard audio project that was done well. You would think when you spend this much money, they would want more of your business but if the job is too small they won't call you back. I called Matt Reyes four times and he sends me to boi menial and sends a text that he will call me back and no call. He callwd me once and told him I need my Rv mount they installed lowered and he said he will call me back but never did nor does he return calls. Very disappointed with his lack of follow through. This issue also happened when I hired them for my big backyard project as well. I hope this helps others looking for a reliable company as you will be disappointed. The team at Magnolia was incredibly patient and walked me through the costs involved in my low volatage/automation project. The team was super thorough in the store and offered a free in home consultation where they were able to build a system for me at half the cost of all other contractors and electricians who had quoted me. These guys didn't compromise any products for entry level products just to meet my budget. The installation date came and the install team was at my doorstep 30 min prior to the scheduled time. DO NOT PAY THE EXTRA FOR MAGNOLIA INSTALLATION VS GEEK SQUAD.. THEY DON'T ACTUALLY DO THE "EXTRA" SERVICES I am surprised to have to write this review after several years of great service but I cannot let this situation slide. I have spent approx.. $10,000 in home theater equipment in the last 1 1/2 years with this Magnolia store. Always going to the same person for assistance and recommendations on what to purchase. My most recent purchase was a large screen TV. At the time of purchase, I was recommended to purchase the installation through the MAGNOLIA store vs. using Geek Squad because there was a difference in service and additional services not included in Geek Squad installations. I was shown that the notes to the installation team that they were to verify that the TV is maximized in image and surround sound through the Marantz stereo purchased previously through Magnolia. On the day of installation, the guys were great. They removed the old TV from the bracket on the wall installed previously by the Geek Squad. Moved the bracket up a few inches, then installed the new TV onto the existing bracket. They also moved two small suround sound speaker brackets to accommodate the new TV. They cut the wall to install the cord through the wall too. THAT'S IT.. They NEVER touched the stereo, never verified that the surround sound was 'maximized' to it's full potential, never did the rest of what was to have been done. They did NOTHING beyond what the Geek Squad did when they installed the original TV. I went to the store the following day to speak with the representative whom I purchased the TV from and whom recommended to purchase Magnolia installation and he even SHOWED me the instructions that were ON the notes to the installers none of which were done. I let him know none of that was done and wanted either them to return to do what I paid for OR refund me the difference for what Magnolia charged vs. what Geek Squad would have charged. He let me know he would speak with his supervisor and get back to me. He did not get back to me. I returned to the store a week later and was told again, that a supervisor would need to be brought in to the conversation, however, he was out of town. Two weeks later I returned to the store since no one made any effort to follow up with me and met with one of the Magnolia store supervisors (Jordon). I explained to him the situation, he also saw in the notes the instructions to the installers and let me know he would be contacting me when he has a chance to speak with the installers. He did not return my call of course. A week later I contacted the salesman to see what's going on and that I want my refund since the services I paid for were NOT what was done. Several days later another supervisor from Magnolia called me on speaker phone with others in the room and informed me that they would not be refunding me. I let him say what he had to say and hung up. It's incredibly short sighted and stupid to do this to a customer who spent over $10,000 over a $150 fee they charged for but DID NOT PERFORM. That $150 is going to cost them THOUSANDS of dollars as I will never trust them again. I will go there, shop for top quality products but then order them elsewhere and have them installed by others. I will not spend another penny with them. A complaint is being submitted to corporate to share this with them as well as well as the BBB as this is a scam and fraud. read more

THE ABSOLUTE WORST. Best Buy magnolia has the worst showrooms in the AV world. They sell thousands of dollars worth of speakers and audio equipment but none of it is set up properly so potential customers could actually listen to a particular pair of speakers before making the decision to plunge $$$$ into it. They cram dozens of speakers into one room and when you're trying to listen to a pair, all the other speakers that are not active become huge frequency resonators diminishing the quality of the active speakers you're listening to while causing your ears to ring in pain after a simple listening session. And the worst part, none of the guys who work there know anything about what they're selling. They always have to google it or ask someone and get back to you. How embarrassing!!! Absolutely horrible and frankly degrading to the audiophile community. The only good thing about bestbuy magnolia is you can purchase something expensive with your BB card and pay it off over 3 years same as cash. It comes in handy if you know exactly what you want and don't need to audition the equipment. But if you're a cash buyer or using other means to purchase, I'd go else where that has a proper listening room and guys who actually know what they're selling. read more

We had previously bought a Sony OLED from Best Buy. When we decided to buy another we bought it through Magnolia, which is a smaller store within the Best Buy store. Magnolia is owned by Best Buy, but they have different employees and handle mostly higher-end equipment. I went to them because there always seems to be a sales person available, and they seem more knowledgeable about the higher-end merchandise. I was not disappointed in dealing with Gary. He knew all about the equipment and showed me a few new tricks in using Android TV. The buying experience was pleasant and efficient. The best part was the installation. There are definitely cheaper options, but my wife has high standards about details. The two installers who came out were as good as any we have ever dealt with. They were very organized and careful. They mounted the TV exactly where we wanted it, and when my wife wasn't totally happy with the placement, they adjusted it until she was happy. They were very pleasant about taking as much as was necessary to get the job right. When I mentioned I would have to change the cable remote to talk to the new TV, the installer said, "I have already done it." He had. They stayed with us until every setting on the TV was exactly how I wanted it. They were polite, clean, and patient throughout the whole process. I haven't had a bad experience with Best Buy's Geek Squad, but it seemed like the Magnolia people are used to people with high standards. There was one minor negative about the experience. The Magnolia computers are not fully integrated into the Best Buy system. I ended up with an HDMI cable I didn't need, and when I tried to return it to a different Best Buy store, I was informed I would have to take it back to the Woodland Hills store. Why is it that I can give no less than one star? If I could give it no stars I would. I've been to a few of their other locations and I have to say that this one was by far the worst. I completely agree with the review below me. The first time I shopped here it was fairly crowded and every one of the salespeople were assisting other customers. My friend and I stood around waiting for someone finish making their sale to assists us. 30 minutes later, nothing. That trip wasn't too bad. At least I was able to attribute the lack of service to the fact that all of the salespeople were actually helping other customers. At the moment I am in the market for some high-end speakers and remembered that they had a fairly large selection of audiophile quality components. I thought I'd give them another chance and went once again this past weekend. This time the store was empty besides me and two other parties. There were two workers at the checkout counter and three others wandering around the sales floor. I was looked at twice but never asked if i needed any kind of assistance. When I approached one of the workers they just looked at me and treated me as if i wasn't going to net them a big enough commission. I really hate giving bad reviews but will never go back to this location and wouldn't recommend anyone to go there either unless they are ready to be ignored or at best, be treated rudely. read more

I went to this place after coming out of the Best Buy that's situated right next to it. This place has nice show rooms and so many HD plasma/LCD TVs, but the staff is rude. I think if you're a caucasian male in a business suit you'll find this place to your liking. The people here all seem stuck up and give you nasty looks when you're browsing...they think you're not worth their time. For a place that sells such expensive and exclusive home theatre systems and gadgets, they really should perfect the art of being nice to a customer -any customer. Hi there Last year I was looking for a home theater system and all I kmew was that I wanted a Sony HDTV. As a lover of music I also knew I wanted a great sounding system that played the songs on my iphone. I went to Best Buy next store and I then wandered over to Magnolia Audio and Video free standing store that is right next door. I was greeted by Ethan Davis. I expressed my needs to Ethan who showed me the Sony HDTV's and then we discussed my eeds and what type of system I was planning on building. Not just what system I wanted now but what were my goals to add to that system in the future. We settled on a receiver and then proceeded to add a subwoofer, center channel, and 2 front speakers and Ethan made sure what I was purchasing now would be adaptable for when I add the additional speakers to grow my system. Ethan was patient, kind, knowledgable, and cared that my system meet mt extremely picky needs (LOL). I picked out a Denon receiver, Martin Logan Motion 4 speakers and a Martin Logan center channel and subwoofer. We even discussed the speakers I should add to my system in the future and Ethan made sure what I bought then will be compatible for the future. Here it is a year later and I decided to add additional speakers to my home theater setup. I called Ethan because he is my go to guy and we decided to add the Martin Logan Motion 12's to the front and put the Motion's 4's in the back. A year after my purchase and now my system is complete and it sounds amazing!! See that' s the sign of a true professial in his field because Ethan didn't just sell me a system a year ago for what I needed then, he sold me a system that I could add to and make even better. His suggestion for he Martin Logan system was right on the mark. I love it. Ethan, his Manager Adam, Howie who once helped me in Ethan's absence are all TOP NOTCH in their knowledge of the products Magnolia sells. I would not go anywhere else or to anyone else for my home theater needs. I appreciate the patience and professionalism I have received from these guys as that is a service that is hard to find these days. A huge shout out and thank you to Jerry their installer. I've been buying my home audio and video from these guys for almost 8 years, now. They only carry high end equipment so the pricing is high, but equivalent to everybody else who carries the same items. The staff is very knowledgable and always polite. I'd recommend this place to anybody who is in the market for a high end home theatre setup. I purchased a big screen from them once and a truck wasn't available for a week to deliver it. I like to consider myself a audio/videophile and I found myself in heaven when I walked in here a year ago. I was greeted by Derek Everson and ever since he took the time to show me around the place, listen and compare speakers and TV's, I won't go anywhere else. I must have come back 3 times to decide on which TV I wanted. He never pressured me or tried to oversell me things I didn't need or want. It truly felt like he was looking out for me and had my best interest at heart. I decided on a 55 inch Panasonic Plasma which I could not be more happy with! People are blown away at the size and quality of the picture and I love watching movies and playing video games on it. As I started building my home theater he introduced me to Martin Logan speakers. (Made in the USA) I started with some of their entry level bookshelf speakers and ended up buying their DepthI. It's a bad MO FO! I have since moved down to OC and although I have stepped in other Magnolia's down here, I never got the service I received from the Woodland Hills/Canoga Park store. I don't know what happened to the other yelpers in the past but it seems like they have new management in there and they have really dialed in the service. The manager personally thanked me for the purchases too and I grabbed his card, Adam Paper is his name. Go see them, you won't be disappointed. This store has the biggest assortment of speakers, receivers, amps, turntables and TVs. I was looking for a new 2 channel stereo system since my system was on its last leg. After visiting all the other local stereo shops and getting nothing but shady sales people, who only try to sell you the most expensive products on the shelf, I stumbled upon Magnolia in Best Buy. The difference here was that they had all the expensive gear but they weren't insistent upon me buying the most expensive items. They asked me several questions regarding my listening habits and what type of room the system was going to be used in. Once they knew what I was trying to accomplish, they were able to suggest a system that fit my budget. This team is talented! The system works great and sounds amazing. This was undeniably the worst experience I had during an entire remodel. After dealing with a complete renovation and dealing with trades such as plumbers, electricians, framers, drywall, wrought iron, stone masons, cabinet makers, Landscapers etc I was happy to be completing my job with what I thought would be the expensive but fun part of the project. I was right about the expensive part. Well over $20k but fun it wasn't and the service was the worst of all the trades. I was handed from person to person. Every time the door knocked I got a new face and a new set of problems and solutions. In the end it works like shit and getting them to come back is an act of Congress. Embarrassing as I was warned to go with a smaller company that offered personal service and those vendors told me to run from Magnolia but I got sold. The guy who came to my house and sold me never came back so I guess he's the closer. The service is just what I was told it would be......AWFUL. I would hope that when people spend that kind of monies someone checks back to see if it's working and/or how they did and was there any concerns versus a hit and run scenario. I can't even access the internet for the last few days let alone use my tv, radio, computer, etc. I'm staying at work all night just to get the news and be able to respond to emails. This is a review specifically for Daniel M. at this Magnolia. He is fantastic to work with - if you're looking to spend a decent dollar on any of the fancy audio gear that's carried here, you owe it to yourself to at least talk with him. I've purchased B&W speakers and McIntosh components from Daniel over the last couple of years, and he's provided superior customer service each time. He's been consistently patient with my questions and considerations (of which I tend to have many), and was willing to explore options that were lower than my stated budget as well as well beyond where I thought I'd go (and even options not carried by magnolia), and, as a result, I've felt like I landed on the right purchase each time. I feel like he has a real passion for the audio-experience and at the same time understands that not all of us can just buy all the most expensive gear all at once. I look forward to buying further upgrades from him as GAS demands and budget allows. Magnolia in Woodland Hills is superb FOR WHAT IT IS. No, it's not a super fancy "audiophile" setup, but they sell top end components with a personal touch and also the full support and backing of a large, big box retailer. If anything, I wish they'd have a much larger listening room and carried more lines/brands so I could waste more time and money there. read more

Stay away from Magnolia!! they are so bad I actually signed up to write a review which I have never done!!! If you have a warranty item forget about it. I bought an $1,100, 55" TV which failed after 5 months. It happens , i understand. I actually purchased the extended warranty which states they will come to the house and trouble shoot. when I called they said call back in two weeks and "maybe then they can make an appointment within 30 days from then" and hung up. I felt I had no option, so I then actually went into the store and they told me to call the Alabama service center (that's the center that told me to call back in two weeks). When a salesman coincidentally was selling a customer on a warranty 3 feet away from me, I said "here's the proof of how they handle the warranty.. I'm here now. lets watch and see how the handle because I had to actually come in there to get their attention and they are sending home with no results". only then I got their attention. its now been 2 weeks since a tech came out and still no answers or service. no fix no replacement. if this is happening to you post it as I intend to bring a class action (im a lawyer)if there are a few more similarly situated. Found these guys on the Lutron website as an authorized dealer and when I walked in I was blow away with the real life demonstration rooms. I was remodeling my house and was in need of Lighting and Shades. My electrician quoted me on the Lutron lighting but wasn't able to sell me the Lutron shades I needed. These guys were the same price as everywhere on the Lutron lighting but were able to get me my shades and lighting sooner than anyone else. They came to my house and measured for the shades and were able to provide a huge sample book of shade samples to pick from. The shades arrived sooner than they promised and they look perfect in my house. Very pleasant experience with Magnolia. I will suggest you to all my friends and family for all home automations needs. read more

After recently moving into a bigger place, my husband and I immediately decided that we needed to upgrade our existing 40-something inch TV. After conducting a bit of preliminary online searching, we settled on a price limit. Fast-forward a couple weeks and we decide to do some in-person browsing at Best Buy. About 10-15 minutes into our browsing, we were approached by a Magnolia staff member named Gary. He briefly inquired about what we were looking for and about our existing set-up. Right away it was evident that Gary possessed the level of expertise that my husband I lack. Even though we don't typically choose to sit through any salesperson's long-winded spiel about their product, we really had nothing else to do that day, so we figured we'd let Gary give us the full rundown - from a $50K TV all the way down to the discounted floor models, in addition to various other home entertainment components. We let him show us everything he felt was pertinent to our needs. All told, we spent roughly 2-3 hours with Gary as he demonstrated various products (TVs, receivers, speakers, etc, etc). We ended up spending more than double what we had previously agreed upon - all due to Gary! Items purchased included a Sony 65" TV, Sanus fixed bracket to mount the TV on the wall, in-wall power kit to run the wires through the wall, Pioneer receiver, Pearl HDMI cable, Panamax surge protector, Sennheiser wireless headphones, and warranty. Installation was also coordinated through Gary and Magnolia for a couple weeks later. Technicians Sergio and Anthony both did a fantastic job during the install and displayed a high degree of professionalism and patience. They both were very helpful in answering our (some would consider dumb) questions. Unfortunately, after they left we got confused about how to get sound to the speakers through all inputs that were hooked up. Many attempts were made to fix the issue but neither of us are technologically savvy so we were unsuccessful. Then we decided to call Gary in the hopes that he could walk us through any troubleshooting steps over the phone. His response to our dilemma is what prompted this long review. Gary said, "I'll be right there". He left work to come to our house and help us out! Turns out, the TV needed to run an update - which Gary showed us how to do. This level of customer service and follow-up is unlike any my husband and I have ever experienced, so if you decide to visit the Magnolia Design Center at Best Buy in Canoga Park, you should definitely ask for Gary Tremble. We happily and enthusiastically recommend him if you are looking to make any changes (small or big) to your existing home entertainment set-up. Thanks Gary! read more

Can I please give 0 stars? The absolute WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. 4 months ago I purchased a new Samsung TV and agreed to have Magnolia install the TV. It is the ugliest installation you could imagine. Wires running down the wall in my living room. $5,000. to stare at wires? They claim that they never agreed to hid the wires. What?!? Now they want to charge me an additional $440.00 to hid the wires in the wall. What a scam! My TV is a smart tv but when you try and use the apps...You Tube, Netflix, there is no audio. 5 service visits later and I still have no audio except on the TV itself. I should have read all the other negative reviews on Yelp before agreeing to have Magnolia attempt this installation. I can't even get a return phone call from the manager. Buy your TV somewhere else and definitely don't take a chance that they will install your TV properly. Call a real professional audio/video company. read more

They talk a good game, but I really felt they fell very short when it comes to delivering in terms of service, professionalism, timeliness, price, quality... I contracted with them for a whole home automation using Control4. First, you need to know that I found that they won't touch any of the electrical wiring or any plaster, wood, molding or paint, even if they caused the damage or if the damage was outside the scope of their work. After my main project (I had to rehire them after a flood to disconnect, reconnect and reprogram) I felt that their sales people will tell you anything to make a sale and their programmers/installers fail to take responsibility for anything. In my opinion, their staff are taking on roles and responsibilities that are beyond their level of experience and knowledge, and they are very understaffed on top of those problems. They did not timely update me on delays, did not communicate internally about issues/problems and ignored my emails and text messages. It also appears to me that the corporate overlords of Magnolia do not really care about the Woodland Hills store or it's customers as they pull staff from this store to work their other locations as this store continues to suffer from understaffing and under qualified programmers/installers. read more

I rarely write reviews but this Magnolia design center does not stand by their product or their customers even if you have a service contract with them . First of all to get them to service your tv is almost impossible . I bought a big screen Sony from them and three times it was faulty and I had to argue with them to replace it . They agreed and sold me a Samsung 65 inch telling me it is better than the Sony and I believed them and spent more money on the purchase / trade . After a year the Samsung became faulty and they refused to honor a replacement and instead they opted to rebuild the tv not just replace the faulty parts which they could not determine but to rebuild it. Stay away from this ripoff design center and if you purchase a tv do it from Best Buy elsewhere in the store . They have no concern that I am a handicapped senior citizen and just do not stand behind their product . UPDATE: The Geek Squad came out again today and the two fellas were as nice as can be. They brought out a new panel for the TV and installed the new power supply and motherboard thereby replacing the key elements with new parts . They stayed until all was programmed and working fine making sure that everything worked . Brilliant and excellent they were . They were the same fellas that came out a month ago as I made sure that it would be on their schedule having had the knowledge of the situation. Thank you guys. In the meantime the general manager of Best Buy which owns Magnolia became an advocate for me with the Geek Squad general manager over the situation . This was truly appreciated . I don't know if it was my demeanor or that I was dressed too casual, but they brushed me off as if I didn't have the cash for their goods. Funny that I've actually shopped there before. Products are higher end than Best Buys, former Circuit city, etc... but by no means the highest quality out there. This place is for the slightly above average audiophile with a good ear but tight budget. There are a handful of other stores that sell very high end equipment that unfortunately I can't afford along with 99 % of the population. Regardless, customer service has to be stepped up in order for people to at least feel good about spending more than average on audio and video. Wouldn't want to see this mid range store disappear leaving us with all the Costco, Frys, Best Buy products. read more

I'll never buy anything from Magnolia Audio Video again. Earlier this year I go to the store looking for a new TV. The salesman shows me Panasonic Plasma and starts telling me about how great the picture quality is. I specifically asked about burn-in issues that plasma TVs have and he ASSURES me that the new models don't have that issue, the burn in problems are only with older model Plasma TVs. SO between the TV, 3D glasses, and tax I end up spending almost $2,000. after a few months I start noticing some burn-in across the screen. I contact the store and they won't help me, they tell me to contact the manufacturer. I contact the manufacturer and they tell me that it's not covered. When I try to call the store again to speak to the area manager to see if there's any course of action to help me out, they tell me he's on vacation....give us your number and and he'll call you when he gets back next week. 3 weeks pass, I call again and the same person takes my info and tells me he's been swamped but he'll contact me asap. 2 weeks pass by and nobody called. So I called them again and left my information again and another week has now passed with no answer. I understand that they may not be able to fix the TV or exchange it, but a little customer service/respect would be nice, especially considering I spent almost $2,000 at their store a few months ago and now have a TV with burn-in. I must have gone to another Magnolia AV in Canoga Park or at least in a different time warp since the service I got there today was not what others have experienced. Found a knowledgeable sales person (Rostami) who gave me the inside out of all the TVs. They matched the service and price of BestBuy and I had my TV the same day installed at home. They are geared toward higher end material but also sell medium range stuff too. If you go to BestBuy, you should visit magnolia next door too. In fact, a BestBuy customer dragged me out of BB and took me there which I thought was odd but I am glad he did. read more

I've been buying my electronics from these guys since I moved into my house. nick and dro (not sure of the spelling) have been amazing! worked with me on the price, provided answers to all of my questions and I love my new equipment. I was really nervous about purchasing the tower speakers on my recent purchase because I was worried that they would overpower the room. Went to the BestBuy next door to buy TV but did not have model I was looking for. Bestbuy told me they carried it next door so I went. If you haven't been in a Magnolia it's pretty upscale. I was greeted by the store manager and he found a salesmen for me. I was really impressed with the time they spent with me and the knowledgeable salesmen. I'm a novice to Tv's but this was the 1st time I felt the salesmen knew more than I did! I looooove my TV. My only regret is that I waited so long. Recommended. read more
