I visited in August, 2025 to consider moving in. The building is gorgeous and Danville is very appealing. Not much for grounds though. Huge parking lot. No bus into Danville. For most who live here the walk is likely prohibitive, probably can be a big risk being alone with no sidewalks. Wouldn't want to fail out there by myself. Seems like an appropriate place to have a car. Hmmm Magnolia is definately beautiful, picture perfect. Outside and inside. It is an relatively small facility, 36 residents maximum. Only 30 when I was there. That's a 17% shortfall. The small size could be very, very good, intimate and more homelike. But here it is a huge liability. Their cash flow is underwater. The 3 hours I spent looking at life there left me totally disappointed, even scared. As appealing as the property is, inside and out, I cannot consider living in this environment. Several reasons. Food, resident's rooms, too many people wandering about looking abandoned, no real and consistent activities to engage the residents, no real landscaped grounds for exercise, no easy access into Danville, no big screen tv in the lounge area, etc. There are some group activities that look really engaging and happy. But still, there are individuals who appear to find themselves completely alone. The staff however, is very friendly and completely welcoming and it appears totally clean and safe. Looking more closely however, the individual rooms are beyond depressing. It feels like nothing has changed in decades. Like a scary motel in a Hitchcock movie. I'm not jesting. The bed I was shown was either from the 1940s or somebody's garage sale. The stuff if nightmares. Magnolia could be absolutely inviting and comfortable. A missed opportunity. Maybe later..... Anyway, as I was preparing to leave Heidi offered to consider a few requests for me such as offering a big screen tv ($300) and plain but large and healthy salads for lunch and dinner. (Assisted living facilities are charging five to eight thousand a month.) Dinner and an inexpensive tv seem very reasonable expectations from over here. Oops, they don't serve dinner. They crank out sandwiches. Got to be that pesky budget. Anyway. Heidi, who is unbelievably charming and full of positive energy - promised to talk with her boss about my requests, incidental as they were, but critical for me, and call me to resolve my questions. Nothing. No follow through. Wow. Another nail in the coffin, so to speak. No inference to the elderly intended. Hey that's me too. Lol. If you are considering Magnolia, share lunch in the dining room with the residents. You'll want to plan dinner elsewhere. Maybe an after lunch - lunch. Where is that big screen tv in a public space. Climbing into or on one's bed to watch tv 24/7 is just unacceptable, at least for me. And please, look closely at the rooms where residents are living. You may find it appealing. Maybe not so much. Food is a huge component of life for residents here. The food is abominable. Seriously. The residents appeared oblivious or resigned. The plate I received was ABSOLUTELY INEDIBLE. The management and staff should eat what they serve to the residents. Management 101. The staff, who are all very, very nice, made lunch for themselves while the residents ate. The Filipino lunch (I believe) the staff enjoyed looked totally delicious (and plentiful). Their table was really happy. It looked like a party. Good enough but the residents should definitely come first. And the portions offered to the residents are quite small. Perhaps appropriate for older diners, perhaps not. I was shocked. I have owned high end restaurants (plural) in Denver, Aspen and San Francisco. I know food service. This is inexcusable, Hello... so - pick up the phone. please. read more

Hello; All the staff at this care facility that took care of my mother did a very amazing and thorough, wonderful job. They were very tentative to all of her medical needs since she had a lot of issues. I would "Greatly " recommend this facility for anyone whose loved ones are in need of specialized medical assistance care. The staff here have their daily meetings and go over each residents care, their "Purpose, Direction & Motivation to include Attention to detail" are above reproach. If your lov ones have Medi-Cal, Medi-Care, CCHP I'd suggest using it and going through "Axis Senior Living" like I did. DON'T DO BOARD & CARES. This place has plenty of rooms and are very affordable through the above programs. They also have Activities , PT/OT, and other programs/services. This place has a very comfortable, convenient, warm and family friendly environment and atmosphere. I have been looking at over twenty of them in the Bay Area before I found this one. If anything happens to your loved one they call you ASAP. When I was having issues with my family and them trying to get my mother to sign POAs, the staff stopped them and told them to leave. I even had them call myself when someone was their trying to visit my mother. In closing. This is a beautiful picturesque area ins and out. You can decorate the room as you see fit. I even went as far as to label all my mothers dresser drawers for her linens, laundry, depends, medical supplies and equipment. So get on down there for a tour if you don't believe what I said and ask your own questions. read more

We had a tour with the assistant admin at this facility she explained everything very clear. The place was clean and no smell. Rooms are pretty much big. The staff are accommodating. We placed our friend here during her final days. and we are Grateful that we choose this placed. They took care of her and made sure she get the best care that she needed. Magnolia Garden provides exceptional care for my frail brother, who has multiple illnesses and requires a complicated regimen of medications. Unlike previous facilities that sometimes overlooked ordering refills and dispensing daily pills on schedule, Magnolia Garden's staff is conscientious, caring and attentive. They notify our family about upcoming needs, behavioral changes and possible health issues. My brother was listless and emaciated when he arrived several years ago. But now he's more alert, responsive and content. He looks healthier because he has better skin tone, and his posture is more upright. I'm very grateful for Heidi and her competent, compassionate staff. read more

Our mother spent a year here before passing. I found them to be thoughtful and caring. They have very hard jobs and my mom would have been the first to complain to us about any staff if she had a problem with the people and she didn't. Was it perfect, no. It's not the Ritz Carlton but fair priced for the value. There is nothing easy or good about getting to this stage in life. And you get out what you put into your persons care. It's a lot of work and they provide a service but a lot still falls to the family to stay engaged for optimal care. All things considered, I think it was pretty good. The staff is caring and thoughtful and patient. And we dropped in unannounced often. Food is pretty good. Price was appropriate for the facilities and location and good for the level of care. My mom was fairly dependent on them for everything and they did everything for her. We feel they were very fair and reasonable. We would use text messaging to communicate and it worked well for us. As she got bad in the end, they really worked with us and we are so grateful!!! We know how hard she became to manage and are grateful for her care. Thank you Magnolia!!! My brother has been in assisted living for about 45 years (he has schizophrenia). He's been in probably 10 different places over the years. This is the best place he has ever been at. The entire staff is great. They are friendly, helpful and genuine. They think on their feet and are very alert. The place is clean, open and airy. The rooms are large. You don't feel cooped in like some other smaller places. They have bingo and movies which is helpful. My brother has improved remarkably, mentally, physically and emotionally. He is 5'10" and was 122 lbs. when he came to Magnolia 2.5 years ago. He is now 144 lbs. and so much stronger. He talks more and is genuinely happier. This is the place! read more

The place is immaculate, the care is outstanding and the food is great (according to my mother who was a great cook). Actually, the most accurate score would be 2.5 stars, at best, in my view. Here's why: Positives: - Attentive, caring, friendly staff. - Good, healthy meals. - Medications administered correctly and on-time. - Safe surroundings. Negatives: - Fairly out-dated facility needing upgrades. - Minimal activities to keep occupants busy, stimulated. - A bit of a depressing vibe to the place, overall. Really negatives: - Seems to take forever to get repairs, upgrades done to rooms when they are obviously necessary. - Very poor follow-up and communication skills on behalf of ownership, especially when things need to be fixed, upgraded, etc. Inexcusable: - My mother was a resident for nearly 2.5 years, paying a healthy sum each month for room/board (nearly $4K monthly), never caused any problems, well liked, etc. When she passed away relatively recently, neither a sympathy phone call nor card from ownership...NOTHING. Makes one wonder if they are just in this for the money and that this facility is looked at as simply a business, not much more. Extremely disappointing. If it were not for the daily staff, this place would barely deserve two stars. read more

My sisters and I are looking for a place for my mom. I met Juliet/owner of Magnolia and she gave us a tour to this place. When we started talking about the place she kept on saying "all inclusive". I was impressed so we decided to get the room. - Staff: 5 stars - they know how to work. - Jude and Heidi helped my dying mom. They helped the attending nurse - medications are given on time - they made sure we are engaged w/ everythings going on w/ mom - staff are helpful the negative part on this - Juliet/ owner did not tell us that there is 2,500 community fee (she only says all inclusive) she kept on saying it - she owns the business but do not know how to explain the care and what are the charges - my mom passed after the next few days of staying but she did not give back the remaining money that we paid I wld just like to suggest, maybe you cld retire now instead of misleading the people who wants to see your place and you are just after our money. I hope you pay good for your people that works for you!!! If you want to see this place look for Jude or Heidi instead!!! read more

This place has excellent care for your loved ones. My grandfather has been to many senior homes and this place is the best. The staff is excellent and personable, the food is healthy and they have lots of activities for the seniors. You can get a single apartment style room or a shared double. Prices are reasonable for the excellent care they provide. Please ask for Rosalie when calling, she is the administrator there. read more

My mother spent two months at Magnolia Garden after a serious illness and a stay in the hospital. Magnolia is an assisted living facility, just off the 680 freeway in Danville, that feels a lot like a friendly Comfort Inn. With just 20-30 residents, there is nowhere to hide and my mother felt welcome and made friends quickly. The staff is attentive, warm, and friendly and they took excellent care of my mother, monitoring her meals, medications, and her health and welfare. After two months, she had recovered enough to move to a different facility that offered independent living, but I will always appreciate the care she received at Magnolia that allowed her to return to health. A highlight for Mom was the stray peacock that hung out around the backyard of the facility. Magnolia was clean, comfortable, and quiet. read more

They did a great job of presenting themselves as competent, but they weren't. My dying father suffered a lot here and I regretted having placed him under their care. When he passed they never sent flowers or a sympathy card; they never called to give their condolences. All we received was a big, fat bill. read more

We were looking to place our beautiful mother in a wonderful care home. Magnolia Gardens is NOT that special place. We called over and over to make an appointment but no one ever answered the telephone. The food is adequate but did not look appetizing at all. The manager(Heidi) was unfriendly and rude to the residents. They need activities for the residents. The staff seemed nice but many of them barely speak English. We would never ever consider having our wonderful mother live there! read more
