Before the wedding day, these are just a few things he did: talked to our wedding party on how they were incorporated into our unique ceremony; called our officiant to make sure all cues were perfect at the ceremony; mixed our first dance song; walked through the script during our reception; went through our dance playlist and talk us through how he'd decide what to play. On the day of, we wanted a high-energy wedding, and he matched exactly what we wanted. He had a great, live banter with our officiant, the cues for the ceremony + reception were on point, and he hyped up the guests all night. At the end of the night, he kept the dance floor moving! We were going back and forth on if we should leave this review or not - we certainly don't wish poorly on anyone - but in the end, we thought it was important for other couples to know our experience. Magnolia Rhapsody completely ghosted us and we are still so bothered by this. We had a GREAT initial video call with them, they sent over a contract, we replied with a couple questions, and then... nothing. They just completely stopped responding out of nowhere. We were patient, we wrote again a few other times, we even apologized (even though we did nothing wrong). And they never ever wrote back. I had seen other couples leave similar reviews for Magnolia Rhapsody previously (they mysteriously disappear...), but it seems like we aren't the only people this company has ghosted. Planning a wedding is SO stressful, especially when it comes to finding a DJ since they can have such an impact on your wedding. For Magnolia Rhapsody to waste our time was completely unprofessional and so frustrating. We had to start the entire DJ interview process over, which takes time and energy, two things you don't have unlimited amounts of when planning a wedding! We were most excited for the dance party and the music at our wedding and it ultimately ended up being the thing we were most disappointed in when we walked away. We spent a lot of time narrowing down the songs important to us and filling out their song request form. We specifically named Kanye west as a "do not play" artist- several Kanye west songs were played that night. The wrong songs were played for both the grand entrance and our first dance which created for some really awkward moments. We discussed our timeline weeks before the wedding. Ceremony start time at 4:30, party ending at midnight. Around 11pm he announced he was about the play the last song so I pulled him aside and said we'd discussed midnight. He kept telling me I would need to Venmo someone more money if we wanted to go longer. If we needed to pay for extra hours, I understand but that, should've been brought up on our call weeks before when we spoke- not on the night of. I reached out to their team but never heard back. Words cannot express how fantastic Beaux and Cho were. I would 1000x hire them again over anyone else. My husband and I have very different tastes in music and Beaux seamlessly curated the evening's playlist. Working with Beaux is like working with a world-class DJ. He was able to edit and cut multiple important songs so that they seamlessly lined up with mother/son, first, ceremony, and first entrance dances. My husband and I met with so many DJ's, and while many of them seemed sufficient, Beaux just blew the freaking roof off. Beaux literally spent 8+ hours, pre-wedding, working in-person to develop our playlist and make sure it was individualized. On TOP of that, he was able to mix my husband's love for show tunes with my love of techno. On top of his phenomenal DJ skills, Beaux is a master of being an Emcee. He truly understands the flow of a wedding and how to facilitate a ceremony & reception. Beaux is originally from New Orleans, which is where the majority of my family is from. I first met Beaux at the Seattle Wedding Show and I was so overwhelmed and he noticed that and instead of pushing his services on me, invited me to sit down and take a break and it was so nice and refreshing. We hired Magnolia Rhapsody for our wedding on 9/13/20... which got postponed to 9/12/21 due to Covid. So, we spent about 2 years with Beaux and Cho. Our experience with them was top notch. They were always quick to respond, and super organized. Whenever we would meet with Beaux, he would ask us about things that we hadn't even thought about, and he always got us super excited for the wedding. But my wife and I were so pleased with our experience that I had to sit down and make sure everybody else knows how awesome DJ Gumbeaux is at Magnolia Rhapsody. As we walked around the expo, we saw Magnolia Rhapsody behind the table just killing it. They were having the most fun out of anyone there that day, which is what immediately attracted us to the booth. Two minutes later, we were at a table, just us and Beaux, talking about the logistics of the wedding, what his style was, how he does things, etc. Not only is he an awesome DJ, he's just a down-to-earth super cool dude who understands the wedding business and wants to help make your day more fun than you could imagine. We booked him right there at the show and cancelled the other DJ, forfeiting our initial deposit. And it was so worth it. I can't say enough about Beaux and his wife Cho, who comes with him the night of the wedding and helps out the entire night. In the months leading up to the wedding, we had several facetime talks to discuss what our vision was, what type of music we wanted, etc. Our officiant was a friend of ours who had never done it before, so Beaux actually walked us through how a ceremony goes, the processional order, and even reached out to our officiant to coach him on what to do and what not to do. My wife and I didn't have a firm idea about first dance songs or ceremony songs or really anything. But Beaux talked to us through everything, gave us some popular choices, sent us samples, and made the whole process super easy. Our wedding day couldn't have went smoother. Working with Magnolia Rhapsody, and in particular Beaux and Cho, has been a dream. From the moment we met them we knew they were the company for us. Beaux's appreciation of all styles of music and his turntablist DJ style were exactly what we wanted. The initial meeting was spent getting a general idea of what kind of party we wanted(we had a dance party as opposed to just atmospheric music), what flavor we were looking for (we chose a New Orleans/Relaxed vibe for dinner), The stages of the night (down to the db's that were acceptable at the venue), who to accept music suggestion from (god knows I don't want my Heavy Metal cousins requesting music at my wedding), and generally how you want your event to happen. As with all things with the wedding the more you put into it the more you get out. Music is a huge part of my wife and my life. We know exactly what we like and why we like it. After telling Beaux what songs we like he came up and said, "Hey you seem to really like breaks. Check out these songs and let me know what you think" I was flabbergasted. Who is this awesome? Who can break down why I love what I love and give me suggestions on new stuff? Magnolia Rhapsody, that's who. Event day comes and they blow the roof off of our event. I had at least a dozen people, including my Dad, a former wedding DJ himself, asked me who these guys were and where we found them because they were the best DJ's they had ever heard. Beaux & Cho were amazing on the day of. Beaux was an excellent MC and DJ! The music was great all night, really helped set the mood, and kept the party going! Guests commented on how great the music and DJ'ing was and have already asked for a referral. We met Beaux in person at a local coffee shop before making our final choice on a DJ. We went over the type of wedding reception we wanted, what our expectations were, typical timeline things and other questions about the day of, and most importantly what our main musical tastes were and what we wanted to hear. After that we traded some emails with Beaux and Cho but things were mostly pretty quiet until we reached out again about a little over two months before the event. At this point it was July and the height of wedding season, so I am sure they were *very* busy. It felt a bit difficult to get information from them during this period as we had to follow up on our own emails at times. This didn't help with typical last minute wedding stress, but they were very helpful and became much more responsive about two weeks before the event. They were very productive in this time and we were able to get everything done quickly without feeling rushed, despite the event being near. In the end I think most of the stress was caused by the expectation they had set that we'd begin this process sooner - it was suggested three months before the event, but in the end it happened much later. We had several meetings over Skype where we went over song selections, timing, and anything else they needed to know. They shared with us what they had planned for the evening and everything looked great! In the end the event went off perfectly and again the music was amazing! It definitely wouldn't have felt the same without the perfect music backing it all. We would recommend Magnolia Rhapsody for anyone looking for a DJ in the future. read more

This review is a year++ overdue, but after attending other weddings and events with other DJs, we feel that Magnolia Rhapsody (MR) really has this unique ability to make any party come to life. We got married at The Edgewater Hotel and consider ourselves lucky to have had MR in our reception. DJ Gumbeaux & Cho: They are fun, professional, kind, and amazing human beings. We won their package at Get hitched Give Hope (at a steal), but we felt like they didn't reduce their quality of service and made us feel as important and special just like any other client. They donated their services to benefit Mary's Place and The Dream Foundation, which allowed us to bid on their services during the silent auction. Moreover, I know they donate their services once a year to charity as well. They really are genuinely awesome people who made us feel like they sincerely cared about our wedding day. At the end of the night, I still remember telling DJ Gumbeaux that I would recommend him to every single person I knew who was getting married. Unfortunately, I've only had 2 friends get married since and they had already booked their DJ. BUT, my husband and I are pretty firm about convincing our family members book MR at their wedding (whenever that time comes), because I'm 100% sure it'll be a wedding disaster if they didn't! Planning & Logistics: We had one in-person meeting, 2-3 Skype meetings (you could have it in-person too, but we just preferred to do it via Skype), and a bunch of back and forth emails to hash out the details. DJ Gumbeaux was a great resource as well - he gave a ton of recommendations for songs for the specific moments of the wedding (entrance, cake cutting, boquet and garter toss, etc). This was extremely helpful since my husband and I had very different preferences and he was able to help us find songs we mutually liked. I planned a short surprise song/performance at our wedding, and DJ Gumbeaux was able to find the song, adjust it to my range, and turn it over early enough so I could secretly practice at home. It helped that they've done weddings at the Edgewater, so they knew what to do and what to expect. Even if they didn't host a party at your venue, they're professional enough to deliver on your agreed set-up and plans. The Wedding Day: As requested, they played songs from Vitamin String Quartet, during the cocktail hour. But they really set the tone for a fun, high-energy wedding with the way DJ Gumbeaux announced the bridal party entrance, our grand entrance, and perfect timing of the upbeat songs we selected. DJ Gumbeaux also had a lot of involvement with the break dancing community, so when he heard that my husband's siblings could break dance, he made sure to put on the best music for a "break dance battle" which actually set the tone for our dance party. They also brought their own uplighting, dance floor lighting, equipment, and sequined table cloth (which went well with our theme), and had everything set-up the way we discussed. Their equipment never failed, the planned songs (for bridal party entrance, grand entrance, etc) were on point, and the song selection for the dance party was awesome. Two weeks before the wedding, my husband injured his knee and we thought he'd have to be on crutches. Thankfully, on the day of, he was fine (he did get surgery a few weeks after), but MR was flexible enough to adjust last-minute based on the status of my husband's knee. The only thing that I wish went differently was how the tables were released for the buffet. We discussed with our coordinator that each table be instructed to go up to our table for a quick meet&greet + photo before grabbing food, but this wasn't announced when the dinner service started. Unfortunately, we didn't get the photos with the guests from each table. This might have been a miscommunication with the coordinator - not sure. Regardless, it's not a big deal because the fun party outweighed this little detail! Moving forward: Do yourself a favor and book Magnolia Rhapsody for your event - wedding, birthday, corporate party, whatever! If you want a fun event and want to work with great people, DJ Gumbeaux and Cho should be your #1 choice. Magnolia Rhapsody was recommended to us by our wedding venue, Georgetown Ballroom, and holy moly we couldn't be happier with them. Beaux is clearly passionate about his craft and his clients. I am a wedding planner and had the pleasure of working with DJ Gumbeaux last weekend at a wedding in Roche Harbor. I cannot say enough great things about this company - except - if you want to throw a bumpin' dance party - you cannot afford not to hire these guys! Before the wedding, Magnolia Rhapsody met with my couple twice to make sure they understood the musical needs and tastes of the couple. They provided full music for the ceremony, the cocktail hour, and the reception - and brought their own equipment for all three spaces. BONUS. They even provided uplighting for the event. Also, they were kind enough to meet with me several months prior to the wedding just to get acquainted because we had not worked together before. They are such fantastic team players! They ask great questions when they meet with their clients and really try to understand their clients musical tastes and then create a customized musical experience for each event they DJ. Whaaat!!?) but Cho carefully scripts each announcement to perfectly match the tone and energy of each event - they are amazing MC's. I was really impressed with how DJ Gumbeaux was able to perfectly choreograph music to a photo slideshow shown at dinner ON THE FLY with virtually no notice. It was flawless and a highlight of the evening. Following dinner, DJ Gumbeaux knew how to get the dance party started - he had everyone from the wedding party to the grandparents and even Father Jose out on the dance floor getting down for three solid hours. I have never seen so many wedding guests have such a great time dancing together. The room was filled with sheer joy - thanks to Magnolia Rhapsody. Several guests of the wedding commented to me that they have never before had so much fun at a wedding. This is really all you need to know. We honestly couldn't have had a better experience. We found out about DJ Gumbeaux through first hand experience at a family member's wedding. As a member of the wedding party I whiteness the professionalism and expertise Beaux later exhibited at my own wedding. The music is incredible and these guys are not only willing to work with your requests, they tailor the experience to your needs. We had some experience with an Argentinian wedding tradition that involved special latin music and a surprise dance party.
