My favorite stop on our trip to Watkins Glen for wine tasting due to the store, service and cute tasting area!!! Love that they also pair their wine tasting with cheese!!! Our pourer was great! Went on a Monday so ham not busy and she was super sweet and friendly. Couldn't help but buy some cheese and other wine themes items on top of wine we enjoyed.

Had a wonderful wine tasting experience at Magnus! The selection of wines with matching cheeses exclusive to Magnus was well curated, while the server shared ample of expertise around the different styles of wine and peculiarities of certain grapes and years. The shop has a vast selection of not only their wine and cheese but also nice souvenir items for young & old. The outside patio has lovely views of a pond steaming with little frogs, a garden and the vineyard behind the building, while the interior is designed with excellent taste and all through can you find little & big ant sculptures commemorating the non-threatened species that almost prevented this lovely place to be built.

We really enjoyed our wine flight here, and our server was so nice as to give us a taste of their cider as well! As good as the wine is, you could get lost checking out all they have inside! The venue is tremendous with outdoor seating, a cafe area, and wall to wall wines, cider and other trinkets. Hard to not bump into something because there's so much! I particularly liked that they did cheese pairing with each of the wines in the flight, and they also have a hot sauce that they serve with one of the wines, too! I would certainly come back if I'm ever in the area again!

We stopped in and shared a wine tasting. A lot of great merchandise to peruse. The cheese paired with the tasting was great. The staff person who helped us was delightful and informative. We didn't buy any wines but we enjoyed the experience. A beautiful setting.

We did a wine and cheese pairing tasting at Magnus Ridge and had an awesome time. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The ambiance was so welcoming and inviting and cozy. We loved some of the cheeses and wines so much that we bought more to enjoy again later before leaving. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes wine or cheese.

Get the traminette! I should've bought one or five more bottles...... The interior shop is supercute and they have so many wonderful eclectic gifts. The gentleman working on the evening we were there was extremely helpful and friendly. I wish we had more time here. Will definitely come back on our next trip

We have visited the fingerlakes wineries for fifteen years now, but have yet to visit a place like Magnus Ridge. Magnus is not a part of the traditional trail, and my husband and I found the winery to be an incredibly unique and intimate experience. You are given a menu at the cash register that includes a wine and cheese pairing (built for one person, not meant to share), or a selection of wine-only tastings. You pay and then are steered towards one of the tasting rooms. We sat down with two other couples, and the server guided us through the wines and their cheese pairing. It's amazing how some of the wines changed as you tasted them with the cheese, or how the cheese changed taste entirely. The last cheese and wine pairing tasted like strawberry cheesecake. This is my new favorite winery on the trail. We will definitely be back!

What an experience this place is. They pair all the wines with cheese or some other food to compliment each other. I appreciate the science that goes into doing that. They server was very nice, explained everything well, and answered any questions we had. It was all outdoor only because of covid. Wines were good on their own. But of course better with the cheeses they were to be paired with. Would return.

Great winery. The staff was friendly and the wine was fantastic. We did the wine and cheese tour. The wasabi cheese and the toasted onion cheese was soooooo good. I also really enjoyed a few of the wines!

Magnus Ridge Winery is quite charming and worthy of a visit if in the area. Upon entering, we were redirected to the opposite side of the room for our tasting. Magnus charges $5 for eight tastings with cheese included. The service was attentive. Visually Magnus is slightly different that other vineyards. It has a certain mystic, is dimly lit and oddly charming. Every space is filled with items for sale, ranging from wines and cheeses to t-shirts and home decor. The shopping experience here can be as interesting as the wine tasting itself, if you are in search of knick knacks. We went with a bottle of wine, the Magnus Garlic Cheddar Cheese and a tomato marinade that was literally mind-blowing. Their tasting selection is on the dry side, however if you prefer sweet, they substitute. We were pleasantly surprised by our impromptu visit and wouldn't hesitate to revisit in the future.

With COVID about wineries have been taking the appropriate steps to insure safety. Magnus is no exception. With a list of different tasting flights all accompanied by cheese which for the price is a great deal, you call in to a number and it is brought out to you. The vineyard itself has been turned into an outdoor tasting room where you can take your flight tasting find a table in a beautiful vineyard overlooking the lake and enjoy! Fast friendly service awaits by a simple call. Bottles of what u like no problem. Tables sanitized as soon as someone gets up. The wine was spectacular and the cheeky monkey dip is addicting. I cannot recommend this winery enough it is not to be missed. When you call ask for Sandra she was a true joy to speak with!

They do a system where it's contactless and you order on the phone and they call your name when the order is ready- really smart! They gave out cute little glass bottles for each sample and it came with cheese and a dip. It's $20 for a tasting for 2- with 5 wines and 2 sets of 5 cheese. We also got their 10 chocolates for $10. You get to sit between vineyards and it's super cute. Make sure you go when the weather is nice!

Wiemer has been around since 1979, but they started really experimenting with biodynamic wine production in 2014. That's how I came to find the winery when I was researching which to visit when I was planning our trip. I'm interested in organic, biodynamic, and natural wines, and Hermann J. Wiemer has become a pioneer in biodynamic wines for the Finger Lakes region. (When we spoke about Hermann J. Wiemer at other wineries we visited that weekend and with people we met in the Finger Lakes, it was clear how much respect people have for Hermann J. Wiemer. Everyone had such nice things to say about the winery, that they are pioneers and examples of great winemaking in the region and that they are incredibly supportive of and helpful to younger, newer wineries in the region.) We had a reservation, which I recommend. Even though Hermann J. Wiemer is large, it's popular and they were running out of space for people who visited without reservations. The space is incredible and varied for different experiences. There's indoor seating and outdoor seating. Much of the indoor space has large open windows so you can see the vines and the property from your seat during your tasting. It was incredibly comfortable inside the winery on this very hot day. The tasting is incredibly flexible. They offer 1.25, 2.5, and 5 oz pours of every wine on their menu. This includes more than 20 wines - many Rieslings, several Chardonnays, Gewürztraminer, Grüner Veltliner, Blaufränkisch, Cabernet Franc, blends, sparkling wines, dessert wines, and more. The staff member who was with us through our tasting was friendly and incredibly helpful. With so many wines, she helped direct us to wines we might have more of an interest in trying. We spent an hour or so at the winery (at one point watching a rain storm through the windows) and took a few bottles home with us. I enjoyed the wines and the experience and have enormous respect for the reputation that Hermann J. Wiemer has built in the Finger Lakes. If you're interested in biodynamic wines, Hermann J. Wiemer should be on your list to visit. It's also just a very beautiful, wonderful space and business to visit in the region. I'd very happily return.

Well, aside from our wine guide's name, (I'M SO SORRY) who was EXCELLENT and made what would have been a lost group of women wanting to get lit to an educational experience but ALSO a great time. He curated a list of several white wines in carafes for us to learn and practice different tasting notes. I have never had a wine tasting like this and have never had one like this again, yet. Hopefully that will change during my Napa trip this month! The outdoor seating area is beautiful and green without getting too noisy, and perfect for big groups. There's also a large unending field of grapes - which we definitely posed for an ungodly amount of photos in front of. Hermann J. Wiemer is definitely a wine institution well deserving of all the accolades that I will be visiting again next time I'm in upstate New York!

Osmote is a small winery, with a focus on what they call "low-impact wines": natural fermentation, low-intervention, classic varieties and modern disease-resistant hybrids... The property is beautiful, with a great view of Seneca Lake. It's a sort of covered pavilion but open on all sides - very open to nature. They offer their wines by the glass or as part of a tasting ($20/person for 4 2-oz. pours). My husband had one glass, while I went with a tasting. I enjoyed all of the wines, and we took a few bottles home with us. The service was great - friendly, casual, helpful - the doggie employee/greeter was a charmer, too. Osmote also produces pork, and you can visit the pigs they're raising which are just down the hill from the winery. Osmote is a great winery to visit on your trip to the Finger Lakes if you're looking for a natural wine producer with a casual, outdoor setup for tastings, Osmore is a no brainer. It can be confusing for those looking for one or the other! But with some searching, we ultimately found the location we were looking for. We stopped on a pretty overcast and rainy day, and we found ourselves to be the only ones in the tasting room. The room is large indoors and with ample seating on the patio outside for nicer days. The interior features a lot of wood themes with low tables as well as bar seating / standing for the actual tastings. Lots of open space, so it would be conducive to a group of folks or even a party! Upon arrival, we decided to do a tasting. We did a tasting with the only employee on the ground, who we learned is the daughter of the owner and brother to Nathan K. She was really lovely to talk with (loved chatting about city vs FLX life and the food scene in all parts of NY and PA with her), but she didn't provide the *most* detail and explanation for each of our wines. No big deal, but having a server or sommelier walk us through our tasting is our preference to really make the experience shine. The wine was solid - not our favorite that we went to, but their reds definitely stood out from the rest. We had a nice time chatting with our server, and we were happy that Nathan K himself walked through the room during our tasting so we could introduce Nathan K to Nathan K! We wound up leaving with a bottle of Cab Franc, which was one of our faves from the tasting and of course, bore the Nathan K label, which my husband adored.
