My family and I were driving from California to Florida and we found this great location. We have stayed in various hotels across all the states and this has been one of the best. We are so thankful with all the staff that maintained the hotel very cleaned and organized. In times of Covid 19 they have taken all safety measures and still be able to provide breakfast! Excellent rates for this hotel makes it a smart pick. We stay here often and it's just as nice as any name brand hotel of the same class. Good parking, nice lobby, decent staff and typical clean rooms that have fridge/microwave/couch. Easy access to 75 and has a Racetrack gas station nearby. Please do not stay here, horrible experience with lying customer service, bill, and room wise. I spent a night on 12/26/2020 to 12/27/2020. First of all, the receptionist gave me the room full of smoke even though I specifically ask for non smoke room. I then told him I don't want that room and looking for a non smoking room like on the Airbnb reservation. Secondly, he gave me a room that already check in by someone. I try to open the door and someone come out greeting me. Then I went downstairs to talk to the receptionist again for this issue. He apologized then give me another room. Third, they charged me a $250 for smoking in the room that I refused to stay in. Please save your money and go somewhere else. I should stay away from this hotel when I see all the bad reviews. Now I'm paying the price for it. Scam, unprofessional, and horrible customer service. Update on 12/31/2020: The receptionist told me Manager going to call me within the same day on 12/30/2020. They did not call back at all so I gave them a call back. Jackie, the receptionist is on the phone again. She lied to me twice and I call her out for that. After she got caught lying, she apologized then asking me to send the Manager an email. Extremely unprofessional, lying, scam practice. And basically a task that was supposed to take 5 mins took like 10 mins to get done. We chose to stay at this hotel because it was close to family, who we normally stay with but was not this trip because we were 'visiting' for a funeral. The first thing I noticed was a weird mildew smell. Texas had recently had flash-flooding, so thought it might be that. First room we got was dirty. The microwave, the tub, the coffee pot, the sink... We asked them to move us. We were moved - to a worse room. There was garbage in the dresser drawers, and the windows were opaque with mildew. The entire room smelled and made me sick. But we had already moved once, we were exhausted, and we stayed there. Oh, and our coffee pot didn't work, the room clocks in both rooms were wrong (power outage?), the drains in the sinks of both rooms didn't work, there was meager soap for two people and the first room had only a few towels, the wireless didn't work... I complained online and got a response from the hotel with a number to call - which did not work. The call connected but no one answered. I wrote a complaint e-mail to the manager (twice) and got a lame response. Only benefit was the cost wasn't bad. *I live in the Midwest - don't know how to change my location tag. The breakfast attendant was inhospitable and disinterested. Another guest was struggling with the waffle iron and the attendant just stood there looking like she couldn't be bothered while I helped the guest flip the waffle iron over. The eggs were overly microwaved, dry, and flavorless. One of the worst breakfasts I've had at a hotel. Just go somewhere for breakfast. There are lots of restaurant options in the area. The lighting in the room was awful. They need to put brighter soft-white bulbs to make the room more inviting. The ones in there are cool and not very bright. Wallpaper is peeling off of the walls above the check in desk. It's easily visible from the 2nd and 3rd floor elevator landings and looks awful. read more

A really nice hotel, reasonably priced, good customer service. We reserved the King suite with the Jacuzzi tub. The tub was huge, easily could have held two people, my only issue was that the tub was not in the bathroom, which wouldn't have been so bad if there was another shower in the bathroom area. Lighting was poor. Four lamps, two on either side of the bed, one floor lamp near the sofa, and a desk lamp. It made it very difficult to iron and made for a dark shower. I had to open the curtains to get more light, which normally I wouldn't complain about but I was on the first floor and in order to get light I had to forgo my privacy. The hotel could use a little TLC but I'm very OCD and what I noticed, many people would probably not take note of. I would stay here again! read more

This was my first stay at a Magnuson and to say I am disappointed is an understatement. Number one, there is a very weird odor that floats around in the hotel. No idea what it is, but it does not smell pleasant at all. Number two, we get to our room and everything looks super nice. Looking a little closer I noticed stains on the bedding and stains on the towels, (even stained blood on one of our towels.) Not to mention they put us in an adjoining room (didn't ask for one nor did the listing say it was adjoining) with screaming children beside us. Last but not least, there is a man who walks around the hotel with no shoes. I was in the stairwell on the phone when he enters the stairwell with me and just stands there and starts balling his fists, making me feel extremely uncomfortable. I calmed stood up and walked out of the stairwell and watched him through the window. The second I saw him turn around to follow me I just ran back to my room. I went downstairs to let the front desk know and I am told that he is always there but he has mental health issues and that he is harmless. I didn't feel like he was harmless being in the stairwell with him. That is a liability if I have ever seen one. Parents if you bring your children here just make sure they don't wander off alone although I wouldn't recommend anyone staying here at all. read more

Very spacious rooms, just like the photos online. Check In was very easy, we ended up switching rooms because the door to the connecting room wouldnt lock properly. We talked to the front desk and the guy was super understanding and moved us to a new room, told us he wanted us to feel safe while staying there. The new room was identical, beds were huge and comfortable, the only con is the TV is kinda slow and we really looked forward to use the hot tub but unfortunately the water wouldnt get hot. the breakfast was good as well; sausage, biscuits, waffles, bakery goods, yogurt and more. The hotel smelled really bad. We asked the staff what the smell was and they stated a backed up sewage in the facility. How horrible is that? The hotel is really outdated and gives you a Motel 6 vibe. The breakfast was horrible also. It was people sitting on the curb outside the hotel all times of the night. There was minimal parking because they share parking with the Baymont. The only positive I have is that the staff was nice. I won't recommend this place at all. This place deserves zero stars! Brian is a TERRIBLE front desk attendant and obviously hates his job judging by his disgusting attitude towards customers. Look at ALL the awful reviews this place has and pick any other hotel near by (there are a lot of other choices in the area), you can't do any worse than this! The place smells like smoke (yuck!) and it doesn't feel safe since there are men loitering in the hallway and parking lot. I wish I would've read the reviews, it's so bad I couldn't even stay in such a horrible place with such an awful front desk attendant! Great hotel! Feels super fancy in these big suites but the price is just right! We enjoyed our stay! Great bed, great workout room, and great breakfast. Not sure if it's the building but I could hear every noise-ACs, showers, doors, etc. If that bothers you bring earplugs or headphones. But overall, we will be back! We had a pipe emergency on Thanksgiving and were forced to find a place for the night. Reviews and pictures made it promising but the actuality was a much different experience. The first room assigned the bed was wet with urine. Went to the front desk to inform them and asked for a different room and the person there didn't trust me, had to check in person....why would I lie about something like that? He stuck his nose in it....and of course he assigned a different room. They claim to have 84 smoke free rooms; I guess we were given the 85th. Smoke was not the only awful smell. Feces were a prominent aroma too. Once I went down for the third time, they didn't bother questioning my claim, and the keys for a third room appeared without a word. While they were assigning my room, one of the front desk agent, was reprimanding a quite large African American gentleman for harassing other guest. Not a great presentation. We asked a late check out, and from 11am we were given 11.30 am, so generous. At 11.05 am an agent called quite bothered that we didn't clear the room. I guess the night shift people didn't bother passing the note. We tried to take advantage of the free breakfast but at 9.07 am they promptly removed it and didn't give an option to grab some fruit or a muffin. Hopefully I won't have any more pipe emergencies, but if I do, I will definitely not go here again. read more

2nd stay here and quickly becoming a favorite. Great price for what you get. Spacious, clean rooms. Had a pool and hot tub. Breakfast included (not fancy but better than a one - waffles, eggs, sausage/ham.... stayed a few days in a row and breakfast varied) tea/coffee//water set up is out and available all the time. Hotel is pet friendly? But I believe in the first floor. We stayed with Magnuson Hotels in Plano, Texas. We met the front desk guest services named Diego, who seemed to be on duty every moment during our stay. What a great blessing he was to us! He is friendly, knowledgeable, outgoing, and very courteous. The room was, of course, clean and very comfortable, and the exercise room was clean and functional, even in light of the minor repair needed on the weight machine. The entry foyer needs a bit of attention near the front ceiling, however, in the light of all the storms we have had recently in north Texas, we were not surprised to see this. One suggestion I have is more soothing and comfortable music in the common areas: classical or soft jazz instead of contemporary pop music. We will be back! read more

For the price, the quality of the hotel is amazing. It is clean, recently renovated and well located when it comes to dining and shopping. Free parking, free Wi-Fi, and free breakfast. And the best benefit is having special rooms for guests with pets. The rooms are large and non-smoking. Some of them are handicapped suites for guests with special needs. So, obviously the customer service is of importance here. Accordingly, the staff is cooperative and caring. If I could, I would attach this hotel to the back of my car, so I could use it whenever I am traveling. read more

My first experience with the Magnuson Hotel was in Commerce, Texas, across the street from Texas A&M University. It was a great hotel, staff, facility, and the rooms were top notch. So we booked an eight-day stay at the Magnuson Hotel Park Suites in Plano Texas, don't let the name fool you, this place was terrible. The front staff doesn't say hi, hello, goodbye. Who hires hotel staff that doesn't communicate with guests? Hospitality is the hotel business, "Not at Plano Park Suites!" They have a so-called laundry room with two washer and two dryers that are ancient looking, no soap for laundry. The hotel room has tan-brown colored paint with chips and missing paint with white marks throughout the room. The room's lighting was very dark. And the air conditioner in the window has curtains and blackout curtains that block half the air to the room. You could hear people yelling outside the hotel window. This hotel is in the middle of the wrong side of Plano in a commercial office area with mostly vacant offices. A lot of weird people always walking by the hotel and a lot of car traffic coming and going like they were drug dealers. The swimming pool is a green color pool that needs to be drained and replastered. The breakfast was mediocre. Although the maids and breakfast workers that spoke very little English were friendly and helpful. The front desk employees need personality lessons and have the personalities of a cardboard box. Every time you would ask the front desk employees for something, they were rude and never offered any assistance about your needs. My wife asked if we could transfer to a different Magnuson Hotel, the hotel staff told her they are independently owned and operated, so no! Next time I will pay the price to stay at Hyatt Place or Hyatt Regency. Because they are always a perfect place, we have stayed at in the past. I looked for the corporate office phone number on the internet, and their web site says they are independently owned and operated and that not to call them because they are individually owned and would be better to contact the property manager that never seems to be here. So if you want to stay at a run down Motel 6, this is the place and feel you will get. I booked this hotel due to the apparent fake good stars and reviews. This hotel ruined our vacation experience. In my opinion, avoid this place like the plaque. read more

Beware of false advertisement. Hubby and I are having construction repairs on the house, and we have to move out for the duration. First searched a hotel website for Pet Friendly hotels and Magnuson was on the list. Called this hotel and confirmed it was Pet Friendly. I proceeded to make the reservation and indicated that it would be two adults and my house cat. The Magnuson representative stopped me and said they would not accept cats. She said she would ask the general manager for an exception and call me back. The day came and went without a return call from Magnuson, so I went to the hotel after work to speak to them face-to-face. Guy at the front desk told me they can make an exception with the general manager and will be in touch. Two days have passed and still no courtesy call. The advertisement of Pet Friendly is false and misleading. They are not pet friendly. No customer service to extend a return call after two representatives promised contact. read more

We have been staying at this hotel for months now because my husband is working in Dallas. This is for the front desk staff ladies. I am on my way to go do laundry and they can see that I have a big bag getting ready only problem is my key is not working and they know me and how long I have been here then asked me for proof of identity when we have been here months. Knowing I have this big bag and everything in my hand jut to be spiteful to make me go get it to show them it's me who has been here MONTHS already. When I get upset about there spitefulness they start laughing at me like I am some kind of joke when I am the one paying week in and out non stop to stay here. So unprofessional and spiteful. All was well except one thing... the bath towels. Uuggghh I hated them! The towel reminded me of Brillo pads; they were so rough. The Dollar Store sells better towels than the ones provided, my advice is to make the investment for better towels so your customers can get a better experience. read more
