This place is after all a tavern, so most of the focus is on beers and a communal experience. If you're looking to try something rare without wanting to buy the whole bottle though, I think coming here for whiskey is still pretty good.

It genuinely felt like interrupting someone's first date. When she finally came over, she somehow managed to be both smiling and incredibly hostile at the same time. It takes a special talent to make an entire group feel uncomfortable while wearing a grin, but she pulled it off flawlessly. The passive-aggressive Olympics would have awarded gold. I have no problem with owners having personality, but treating customers like they're a burden isn't a business model--it's a fast track to empty tables. Add in parking her Jeep in the closest customer spot right in front of the entrance, and it gave off the impression that customer convenience wasn't exactly high on the priority list. If the goal is to use the bar as a personal dating lounge, that's completely fine--but maybe rename it something like F-boy Island, Love Is Blind: Happy Hour Edition, or The Bachelorette Tavern. At least then customers would know what experience they're signing up for. To be fair, the place itself is adorable. It's cozy, unique, and obviously decorated with a lot of love. Between the Christmas lights, faux clouds, flowers, and whimsical touches, it feels less like an Irish pub and more like someone combined Pinterest with a Hallmark movie. Honestly, I'd hire her to decorate a little girl's bedroom in a heartbeat. After reading other reviews, I was disappointed--but not surprised--to see that this doesn't appear to be an isolated experience. It's unfortunate because the food, drinks, and atmosphere have so much potential. A welcoming attitude from the owner would had made all the difference. I'd happily return for the food and the server from my first visit. Returning for the hospitality? That's a much harder sell.

In the mid sixties, the place was called Pats Tavern at that time. My Kappa Sigma brothers and I would be either there or at Jimmies Tavern across town. We would drink a lot of beer, eat pickled sausages and play shuffleboard. One snowy night, I was driving down the hill and skidded right into the place. The pin ball machine was busy all of the time. When I got back from SE Asia, I was married and had returned to UPS to get my degrees. One night when my wife and I were at Pat's, Suzie Isikite walked in. We had always had the hots for each other. I found this place in 2001 and rediscovered it in August... such beautiful but subtle rennovation work... has the patina of antiquity but is spotless and modern in every respect... Excellent beer selection, nice strong-but-not-too-strong drinks poured with precision by very adept staff, really good nachos and sandwiches! Attention to detail was the trick... Oh and free steel darts AND Foosball. Very low to reasonable prices and, I noticed, they don't charge the state's 10% sales tax so the prices are REALLY low! Glad I came back! Friend asked for an NA, he said he would look for a domestic but kept trying to sell him on IPAs after he said no thanks on those. He comes over asking how we are doing, offers a refill of water. Comes back with club soda, turned around after a bit and said oh hey I think that's club soda. I said yeah, he interrupts me to say well it's just water with bubbles in it. Like we are idiots and should just keep it. We both said he can't do it, throat cancer, etc. so he acquiesces. So weird. I decide to order one more just to see what happens cuz at this point I wonder if I'm on a hidden camera show. I'll have one more please Ok, what was it? Vodka redbull tall Then he throws out my seasoned ice and straw Brings it over to me and says see? It's just a lot of redbull. It doesn't fill it up all the way. It's like it needs more ice. First thing we noticed was that parking was interesting - there's not really a lot at all, but a solid block or so worth of street parking and we got lucky with one really close to the entrance. Service was good from the jump and they had a solid selection of drinks to choose from. We weren't there for food at all but I think I remember seeing a simple menu with a few typical bar food options. They've got a pool table here as well as a good amount of dart boards. Darts is our game of choice when we're out so we were stoked to see they had quite a few because a good amount of people were playing on a Friday early evening. Funny story - I happened to text my mom and tell her where we were and she told me that it was one of HER old stomping grounds back in the day and she sent me photos of herself with the owner... Who just happened to be there! I went over and introduced myself to him and he said he could already recognize who I was and how much he missed my mom! The rest of the staff ALSO knew who my mom was so clearly the team there has been around for a while. We chatted with a few other patrons here and they were all super nice and welcoming. We've definitely found a new bar to add to our rotation and are looking forward to returning soon.
