Magpie came to the rescue as I stood on Park Ave at 3 pm, freezing my butt off, wondering where I could get a cocktail with a couple of girlfriends.

The security told me to have a great weekend at the end of the night. Those were the only people I talked to besides someone who bothered me, a customer who was just asking me why I was taking a picture of one of the signs. Then he said it was just a joke. At 4 AM I got a Facebook message from the owner who I've never talked to before, I don't know how he got my Facebook. He told me not to come back to O'Call's so I replied to him and asked him what the issue was because when I was there, I didn't have any issue. He never replied to me. So I called up and talked to someone who claimed to be a manager as well, the manager cursed me out and didn't give any reason. He said "you know exactly what I'm (censored) talking about. you don't talk. I talk be quiet. i'm not (censored) telling you (censored) . If you come in here again, you will have the biggest (censored) problem in your life." And hung up after that. I did not curse him at all. I was very polite. I just asked what this was about and he couldn't explain. I have never been banned from a bar in rochester anywhere ever before.

The bartender was absolutely the worst customer service I have received in a very long time. She had no business being there. The bartender tonight, had cartoon playing on the TV, with sound on. She was dressed for Christmas. We asked for Johnnie Walker, she starts pouring a single shot neat, NEVER asked what we actually wanted to drink. We asked for a food menu, never asked if we wanted food. Proceeds to give me my total and stand there till I handed over the money. We got up and left half way through my drink and she couldn't have cared less, she didn't say bye, nothing. She did not want to be there, and really should not have been working. Tried messaging the company directly to address the issue, website gave multiple errors.

I love the feel of this community bar and have always enjoyed my beers and the kind bartenders at this spot. I know there was some drama and potentially a change in ownership before the pandemic started? Not sure what the food or kitchen situation is at this point after that change happened. I am pretty sure the last time I was there, there was no food menu, but I could be dead wrong. They have a huge variety of taps to enjoy and my partner really likes to go for a Guinness. They have an outdoor patio/deck area that is very well utilized during the summer times. From reading other reviews, it seems that there is a private back room as well. I've never seen it, but would be a great option as they have a large parking lot right in the area and the bive is very community-oriented. I am looking forward to my next trip to Johnny's some day in the not so distant, vaccinated future!
