My wife and I looked at quite a few BnB's when we had business to attend to in Boston. Many were cute but over priced, some had cats that were allowed to roam into guests rooms at will. Lyttleton Inn was absolutely delightful! The room was clean, cozy and welcoming. Bed was confortable with down pillows and throws. Everything we possibly could need was present. Mary, the Innkeeper served us a wonderful breakfast consisting of fresh made Blueberry Scones, Yogurt w/ Granola and Apple Slices, Freshly squeezed Orange Juice (love pulp myself) and Poach Eggs on English muffins and canadian Bacon with a Champagne Grape garnish. Mary was very warm and personable, we had a nice conversation about several subjects. You can see that she genuinely loves what she does. The area is very quaint, and homey. Would surely make this our destination when returning to the area..

The Lyttleton Inn is a wonderfully quaint New England B&B. I stayed here during my wedding and had a wonderful time. The breakfast was so delicious and fresh. The morning of my wedding with my fiancé and I had cinnamon roll bread to start, then some eggs, and a parfait with fresh fruit - so tasty! Definitely worth a stay if you are in the area!

    Breakfast. Soo goood-

The house itself is a 300-year-old farmhouse that has been owned by only 5 families throughout its history. Most of the original structure remains today, giving the place an authentic rustic feel -- not kitchy, like so many other bed & breakfasts. The hostess is cheerful and charming, and more than happy to give you a tour of the grounds (including a tunnel in the basement that was part of the underground railroad!). For us, she made oatmeal chocolate chip cookies fresh upon arrival. We stayed in the Carriage House, which really is a bargain for the space. The two-story suite includes a fireplace, kitchenette, television, desk, couch, armchair, and small table with two chairs. This is in addition to an outdoor porch attached to the unit, and the beautiful upstairs bedroom (with air conditioning). Breakfast was delectable, made exactly to our preferences, and served on a screened-in porch overlooking the gardens. We couldn't have asked for a better experience! I'd definitely stay here again, and would absolutely recommend this to any couple looking for a quick getaway from Boston.

The house has wonderful character and charm and so much history. The fire was roaring when we arrived and the entire visit felt like a special getaway for us from work and the kids, even if it was only a few towns away. I would go just for breakfast if I could, homemade and delicious.

Off of Route 2A on Lexington Road in the heart of Minutemen country, I arrived at the Hawthorne Inn, my favorite bed and breakfast in Concord, Massachusetts. The owner of the inn, Marilyn, greeted me at the entrance and showed me to my room. The inn is furnished with furniture, art, and artifacts that are representative of colonial New England of the 19th Century with other kinds of art, such as Japanese ukiyo-e prints, Haitian voodoo masks, and 17th Century Persian helmets, scattered about here and there. Walking into my room, I noticed a cat on the 4 poster bed in my room. She was friendly and didn't seem to mind me hanging out with her. http://static.px.yelp.com/photo/gsDWbndD_Nix9s_MOTuYYQ/l The room had teal wallpaper, lots of folk art, a love seat near the roll away desk, and a rattan reading chair by the bed. It was very comfortable, very cozy. I hung out in my room with the cat for a while before going out to downtown Concord for dinner. After dinner I sat in the sitting room downstairs where the fireplace was blazing and I met some of the other guests in the inn. We talked some more in the morning when we ate breakfast in the communal dining room together. Breakfast included your choice of coffee, tea, muffins and other baked goods, a seasonal fruit plate, yogurt, or granola. Rooms at the inn range from $125 - $325 per night depending on the season. After breakfast, I went into downtown Concord to look for an essay by Ralph Waldo Emerson, Self-Reliance, which I found in a book in my room. In the essay Emerson emphasizes the importance of avoiding conformity and trusting in our own ideas and instincts: "Trust thyself, every heart vibrates to that iron string...." This spirit of individuality and the belief that there is no problem that we can't handle if we apply ourselves to the solution is what attracts me to New England, to Concord, to the Hawthorne Inn. There's a sense of history there where our country was essentially founded, a creative energy burns there also where so many creative thinkers and writers lived. Walden Pond, the Minutemen Park, the old North Bridge where the "first shot heard round the world" was fired are all in Concord. It's worth visiting to remember that "Nothing can bring you peace but yourself. Nothing can bring you peace but the triumph of principles."

There is no doubt The Mansion at Bald Hill is a stunning venue to host an outdoor wedding. The…read moregrounds are maintained beautifully, and the gardens are green and lush. We loved the dramatic ceremony aisle, and the cocktail hour patio space was perfect. The ballroom can truly be transformed into something magical and memorable. Though the venue itself was overall perfect, we did not have a good experience with their so called "day of coordinator" (DOC). There was an extreme lack of communication and professionalism experienced during the rehearsal and wedding day with the DOC. As a Type A bride, I planned every last detail to a T and even provided a fool proof binder of my expectations for decor setup and wedding day flow. On the night of our rehearsal...the day before the wedding, we were informed that the DOC and her staff would not be assisting in the setting up of any of our wedding décor. The only portion of the setup they handle are the tables w/ linens (if you choose to use theirs) and the ceremony chairs. This was not discussed or disclosed to us when booking the venue and had it been, we would have hired an actual coordinator. Due to this, one of my bridesmaids and the significant others of the bridal party had to set up everything the morning of the wedding. Due to the lack of eye for detail and overall care from the mansion's DOC, she did not read the binder we provided her with which in turn also caused our ceremony to be mismanaged. She told the groom and bridal party to start walking before the officiant even began reading the opening remarks resulting in our officiant having to skip over the whole beginning of our ceremony script. We would have been better off without her "help" and "services" altogether as several of our other vendors also commented to us about her rudeness towards them. We also want to share our experience regarding their "open bar" pricing. Due to specific wording in the contract, we were charged an additional (quite significant) amount of money for alcohol consumed. You are not paying for an open bar here but rather by consumption so please be sure you understand your contract fully to avoid this unnecessary additional stress. Overall, we feel the venue itself made our wedding perfect, but we are giving only three stars due to the DOC's behavior, lack of care for the bride and groom and subpar services provided. If you fall in love with the grounds like we did and choose to book your wedding here, the major takeaway we have from our experience would be to hire your own coordinator. You will need someone who always has the bride and groom's needs at the forefront of their mind and someone who truly knows and cares about executing your vision. Your wedding day should be stress-free and that will not happen here without an outside coordinator.

A true, traditional, historic B and B can't be beat, and that is what Timber Post is! She dealt with my questions very helpfully over the phone before arriving, and then the moment I arrived. Vivian has every little beautiful or welcoming detail covered, and the place is immaculately clean. There are intriguing antiques and pictures everywhere to add to the ambiance. The breakfast is sumptuous, but despite all that work, she was kind enough to make me something I preferred. I stayed two nights, at the start and end of my road trip, in two different parts of her lodgings. Both were lovely. It's quiet, for a light sleeper like me, and also important for a woman traveling alone, I felt safe. Vivian even has done the genealogy on the Inn from its early years, and discovered she's descended from the some of the original owners! She said how the community there has been so kind to her. Now that's real sense of place. I highly recommend Timber Post for a true New England Bed and Breakfast experience, in rural Hollis. A delight.

Note: I deleted and reposted this, bc her response illegally posted some personally identifiable information. The response also showed the inability to internalize feedback, and misguided perspective on that feedback. Example: We SHOWED her the booking.com website where it clearly stated private bathroom in multiple places. I've added the photo to show that it said private bathroom, and yet she's insisting that it does not show this. This is how delusional she is.
