Pear prosecco bites with walnuts, blue cheese, crumbles, a balsamic reduction glaze, spinach, mango trimmings
Lori C.

I sat at the bar tonight and was served by the bartender Frederic. I had the potato leek soup and the pear Prosecco bites which included spinach, walnuts, blue cheese, all covered in a delicious balsamic reduction sauce. Frederic made me a lovely chocolate espresso martini and packaged up Key lime pie for me to take back to my hotel room. I think what is magical about this restaurant is the atmosphere of family and joy that you feel when you are there. It's also the independent and combined flavors of fresh food that makes your mouth happy. They have a great menu to explore - be adventurous and try something different if you go before I return!

This place has the most amazing staff. The food is out of this world. We ordered a tortilla soup and a Bolognese vegetarian pasta. Plus I had the hibiscus tea without sugar. It was amazing. We had the best waitress ever. I can't recall her name, but don't hesitate for a second to try this gem of a restaurant out please. They are good people that serve amazing food.

Live music here some nights

GREAT LIVE MUSIC EVERY NIGHT: One of the best dinner time music venues in Isla Mujeres. They have different performers each night. Out of the various music Venus restaurants in Isla Mujeres, this place is recommended by the locals. The food here isn't cheap but the kitchen talent here is legit.

We stopped in because they had a great selection of local craft beer at the bar. The bartender was great! We watched him make a few craft cocktails and the presentations were beautiful. He was very clean and detail oriented. Although we did not eat, the food looked amazing! We may return tomorrow to try the food.

What an wonderful restaurant! The staff are awesome and the food is amazing! We had brought some freshly caught fish and they were able to transform them into the most delicious variety of plates. The micheladas and margaritas really hit the spot as well! There are also several very cool local art on the walls that you can purchase

Top notch service gets the additional star; a nice meal on the island overall with an art gallery inside and live music. The octopus appetizer was yummy but small; the shrimp dish was the clear winner.

Get the octopus main course but ask for limes! Thank me later.

**First thing first** They accept credit card for checks over 400 pesos. If you're tired of classic American Mexican food (tacos, burritos, quesadillas, etc), and are in search of a culinarily fun menu with affordable prices, this gem is FOR YOU. I had the grilled octopus entree for just under 300 pesos. 6 perfectly charred and tender pieces of tentacles (the good stuff), with a pepper sauce but it's not spicy, side of steam veggies and crispy potato strings. Pro tips: ASK FOR LIMES and squeeze all over this bad boy. It made all the flavours explode! Wow. Not sure why they don't cook it with lime juice to begin with. Chatted with a girl who had the quinoa soup and a fresh cucumber water drink. They both seem to be tasty, especially the cucumber one. Service was great. Mario the manager came by to check on me- he made my to-go hot chocolate earlier in the afternoon himself! At dinner it came with hummus with bread; don't mind it though, definitely needs more garlic and lemon juice. I find it a recurring theme that restaurants on Isla Mujeres under season their dishes. Anyone else with me??

Peacado alla Veracruzana. Delicious sauce.

On vacation with my wife and her best friend. It's all of our birthdays. The friend had picked a different place for her bday dinner, but they were closed. She had Mahache as a backup. I'm glad we ended up here. Everything was so good. The food, the drinks, the service. There was even a live musician playing bossa nova tunes. 100% lovely and delicious. You should go here.

Started with the tuna tower... amazing... then octopus.... Double amazing! Cooked to perfection and paired well with the red wine. Both dishes recommended by the server. Excellent service and her recommendations spot on. The artist shop has unique artwork, jewelry and clothes. The ambiance was perfect with jazzy blues band playing live. So good tempted to eat dinner again there tomorrow!

This was by far the best meal we had on Isla. Service was top notch and they had someone playing live sax. We had the coconut shrimp, pulpits de guajillo, camarones ajailo and the vegan burrito. Nothing disappointed.

The food here was so delicious and authentic. I loved the mango salad. Drinks were good too.

Wonderful restaurant. 5 stars left by other reviewers is well deserved.

Wonderful restaurant. 5 stars left by other reviewers is well deserved. We were looking for something less commercial off a side street and that was it. Ceviche delicious and that cocktail with tequila and grapefruit soda, wow.

Awesome ambience, good service, and delicious food. Very quiet compared to the touristy area a few blocks away.

It is a bit more expensive than other options on the island, but an incredible value for what you get.

She was walking us a little towards the back, but since it was my first time to Isla, I wanted to people-watch, so I asked about a table up front. As soon as we headed over, I saw why she passed it - it was right next to the saxophone player! Thank goodness his volume level was perfect! Just loud enough to be heard over the crowds walking down the 'lane' out front and the restaurant diners' chatting. But not so loud that we 3 couldn't chat. We loved it! Now these two can EAT - and love to try everything on the menu, whereas I tend to eat smaller portions. I ordered the shrimp tacos and they were fantastic - huge pieces of shrimp, so good! The lobster mac n cheese is so good, I would have loved to bring a big container of it home with me! The restaurant is very busy but very clean and tables are well organized for maneuvering a quick trip to the restroom before leaving. Our server, Maylen was attentive and pleasant. The bar area, facing the street, looked like a lot of fun, I'll have to try it next time!

Drinks were interesting in a good way! The inside is really nice on the 3rd floor. Some good live music also. And the desserts were amazing! A reservation was easy to obtain via email and we were all set for a sunset, evening meal. We were warmly welcomed and promptly seated. The service was impeccable, the atmosphere pleasant with an acoustic duo playing mellow tunes in the background. Honestly, we were a little disappointed with the view that most reviews rave about. Our sever was knowledgeable and made several suggestions. We selected the Pepita Crusted Tuna for a starter, my companion had the fresh catch which was grouper, blackened with a side of the peanut sauce. I chose the Surf and Turf. For dessert, we shared the Key Lime Pie. Everything was beautifully presented, and quite artistic. The tuna appetizer was very good, but the main courses were frankly a disappointment. The creativity of the plate did not make up for the lackluster food. The steak was tough and poorly seasoned, the lobster was just passable but also chewy and not tender. The fish was not as well cooked as other restaurants downtown and again the seasoning was lackluster. The sides, lentils and mashed potatoes were just ok. The homemade Key Lime Pie was enjoyable but again seemed to lack a depth of flavor. If the food could match the service, presentation, and atmosphere then perhaps this could be one of Isla's better dining establishments, until then "the juice was not worth the squeeze."

I would've liked the actual meat of the fish to be more tender (it bordered on overcooked) but still I walked away plenty satisfied. It does have lots of tiny bones. Bread basket came with the most delicious roasted eggplant in oil, I could've eaten just that with the bread and been a happy camper. The roasted octopus was not bad but a touch too heavy on the sauces for me, I would've wanted more of the flavor of the octopus on its own. The potatoes under the octopus, however, were perhaps my favorite part of the whole meal. Everyone else seemed happy with their food - the catch of the day (with the fluffiest mashed potatoes) was a very popular choice. If you're sick of seafood, they have steak and braised brisket on their menu. Really cozy and romantic ambiance as well for if you want to dress up slightly. This place gets very popular for good reason; I liked the little bar counter they set up out front so you can watch the grilling in action.
